Fate/Extra Re:Birth

As the new millennium came to pass and the old age left to parts unknown, fantastic new strides were made in the field of human innovation. Electronic computers had begun development in the 1950s and soon exploded into a new industry of information processing. Supercomputers gained some time in the spotlight before the internet became the next big thing and scientists moved on to advances in cloud computing. In the late 1990s, a prodigious Nobel Prize-winning neurosurgeon and information systems specialist by the name Twice Pieceman pioneered Spiritron Hacking, a new method of interfacing with cyberspace that allowed humans to break down their souls into spiritual particles capable of affecting cyberspace. Spiritron Hackers became the new generation of mystics, a demographic that had been dwindling since the failed Aylesbury Ritual of the 1970s and the subsequent damage to worldwide mana reserves. The internet evolved to become the information superhighway of the world, a paradise for Spiritron Hackers. Meanwhile, increasing corporate consolidation landed a supermajority of the world's financial assets in the hands of the Western European Conglomerate, headed by the plutocratic regime of the Harway bloodline.

In 2031, a WEC-funded lunar expedition unearthed a startling discovery that slumbered beneath the moon's surface. It was a supercomputer of gargantuan proportions, forged of photonic crystals by some ancient civilization that had died out eons ago. Immediately after the discovery of was dubbed the 'Moon Cell,' the supercomputer reached out and made contact with the human race by integrating itself into all pathways of the world wide web. Every computerized security system on the internet had been hacked with ease by the Moon Cell within two seconds of First Contact. Global digital security had been utterly demolished within the span of two seconds. This Moon Cell loomed over the planet, frightening and powerful beyond imagination. Spiritron Hackers began to thrive more than ever before by passing through internet security measures via the newfound information highways of the alien supercomputers whose arms reached into every electronic database on Earth.

In 2032, the Moon Cell itself broadcast a message to all servers detailing its true nature. It was a device designed to observe Earth for countless eons, creating a constant perfect snapshot of every event that had ever transpired in the history of the human race. The sheer power afforded by its vast wealth of photonic crystals could alter the world to an extent beyond the limits of mortal comprehension. In dark corners of the world, men spoke in hushed rumors that it may even alter the past it observed.

The Moon Cell initiated a series of competitions between Spiritron Hackers in the cyberspace within its databanks - a Holy Grail War modeled after the contests in the old days when Magi roamed the Earth, before all mana had dried up. The victor who persevered and triumphed over all challenges would obtain the 'Holy Grail' of the Moon Cell's core, the Power of God that could change the tides of destiny. But after extensive observation of humankind's true performance under pressure in the countless failures of the Holy Grail, it decided the humans of the modern era was unsuitable candidates for the Power of God. A new challenge began, this time between the Heroic Spirits created from the Photonic Abyss of the Serial Phantasm, commonly known among Spiritron Hackers as the SE.RA.PH.

He who passes the trials and reaches the deepest floor of the Moon shall receive the Power of God, or so it was proclaimed.

However, the new rules of the game have not barred the occasional brave Spiritron Hacker from entry. With the new Heroic Spirits no longer bound to Masters by Command Seals, the competition will indeed be fierce. Those who are deemed worthy to challenge the trials of the Moon Cell and seek the Holy Grail are branded by a sign of their potential, an ultimate decree from the Eye of God that observes the Earth:

CAST IN THE NAME OF GOD, YE NOT GUILTY

OOW here with another exciting Fate RP! This time it isn't a conventional Grail War; characters may apply either as Servants or Spiritron Hackers, but the Servants are operating on backup from the Moon Cell instead of being leashed to any Masters as per the norm of Holy Grail War RPs. Instead of the normal 'battle of the death' format, the competition will instead by a more minigame-flavored series of events stretched over the course of the plot in a fashion akin to the Tower of God series.

  1. Standard site regulations are in effect.
  2. No God-modding.
  3. This is still a war; characters are going to die or be otherwise eliminated in some capacity.
  4. If you intend to leave the RP, be sure to notify the GM beforehand and work something out regarding how you intend to have your character exit the stage. Otherwise, it'll be an absolute pain trying to make something of where you left off and trying to resolve the issue of your character in a manner that keeps the plot moving. Prolonged or unexplained absences will result in your character being relinquished to your partner or get killed off.
  5. I am the GM who will receive the PM. I am merciless and cruel. If you don't know how to send a PM, ask a friend for help so that you don't suffer my merciless cruelty.
  6. Be reasonable and polite when dealing with other players; caustic and/or condescending behavior will get you kicked from the RP.
  7. All character applications will be submitted via PM.
  8. You will be expected to exercise some basic writing skills in this RP. If the GM has trouble understanding what you're writing, you won't get in.
  9. This RP is set in the Nasuverse, and as such players are expected to have some basic understanding of the in-universe setting and mechanics prior to applying. If you honestly don't know something, check the wiki or the Type Moon General thread.
  10. Title your PM 'Fate/Extra: Re:Birth - (Insert Username Here).' If you try and be a smartass with the title, your PM will be ignored entirely.
  11. Any instance of cheating will be punished with an immediate ejection from the RP, as will causing moderator intervention. Excessively forcing the GM to intervene will do the same.

There is an initial hard cap of three Noble Phantasms per Servant in the character creation phase. Additional NPs may or may not be awarded on a case-by-case basis as things develop.

Masters can be either canon characters or original characters. Whatever floats your boat.

Servants from other fictional continuities are not allowed.

If you can't use the NP without destroying the Moon Cell as collateral, don't bother submitting it.

Failure to properly format your character sheet will result in rejection. Play it by the books.

No, your Master can't be a Magus - all the world's mana dried up, so Magecraft went down the shitter. Spiritron Hacking is the name of the game. Yes, they can be something utterly zany and absurd. Go wild. They can't be a crossover character from another fictional continuity unless you can write it well enough to earn my approval. Expies are acceptable. Be aware that such entries will be heavily scrutinized and failure to pass judgement will mean you lose at the internet forever.

Does that mean no Magi style thing at all?

No one with breathing and walking that hacks stuff lord Genome Style?

Eh, why not? Still have unused sheets and Servant ideas, and more than likely I'm just gonna get ignored or ridiculed by OOW again. Nothing to loose and everything to gain; all that really matters is choosing a sheet I haven't played yet and taking the small amount of time to throw it at 'im.

I swear if we don't get a carnival phantasm style game show followed by a boss fight of BIG O I will be severely disappointed. Mostly with the latter.

@Bondo

Is it time for that?

Edit: Oh, wait, missed that char creation guideline. D'oh.

Double Edit: Wait, that only applies to Servants! We can still make this work!

So this is something I'm gonna ask OOW when he comes back. Is it okay if I reuse my master sheet from your last RP?
