CHAPTER 1 PART 1: The event and subsequent following days

Off the coast of Boston, Massachusetts, New England Commonwealth.
June 1st, 2024/ June 1st, 2265 EST

No one would have expected that once the Washington Battle Group left port in Boston to escort several animals, seeds, history books, artifacts, technology, and business representatives to the Union apocalypse shelter in the recently acquired Greenland that they would be sent to a post-apocalyptic United States.

There was a bright flash of light, one minute they had contact with the U.S. government, the next nothing, it didn't help with the new Cold war that was brewing between China, Russia, America, and the European nations that recently left NATO (France, Germany, Belgium, and Spain).

Salem looked like a wreck, looking like it had been in disrepair for nearly 2 centuries. Several of the soldiers who actually lived in Salem were distraught, their homes were gone and their families were probably dead and had been for a long time, some would start to break down, and some nearly commit suicide. When everyone calmed down it was decided to send a squad to shore, for that purpose a group of individuals from both the marine contingent and the army contingent would be selected, they would be designated Alpha and Bravo respectively.

Alpha team sailed to the shore on a small water craft to a dock that they spotted, Bravo team sailed around the peninsula to the other side of town finding a small building with a singular (small) boat that possibly shipwrecked years ago. Alpha quickly secured the docks and moved further in, only to encounter a 41 year old man calling himself Barney Rook. Alpha team radios in to the Appalachia that they have met someone, they also mention that the man believes it is currently 2265 and that there was a nuclear war 189 years ago.

Bravo team quickly secured the small building as a branching off point. They find a house that looks broken down to the south of their position, to their east is an old elderly home called the "Sandy Coves Convalescent Home", which some of the members of Bravo team notes does not exist. They decide to quickly secure the dilapidated house to their south and work up the road that goes into town proper.

When they secure the house they find more buildings that have a similar build to the one they have secured, they also note that these buildings are boarded up or are inaccessible to the outside via furniture on the inside, they also see a giant building which looks like an old mansion. Deciding to deal with the mansion later they move on into town, while walking up they find a diner by the name of "Drumlin Diner" which wasn't in that location to begin with, they also see some boarded up shops and possibly some boarded up apartments.

Alpha and Bravo quickly rendezvous in the center of town where a statue was supposed to go. Alpha and Bravo (henceforth known as Squad 1) send a encrypted radio signal to the Appalachia and all military ships that were part of the escort mission, detailing the situation in Salem and the need to secure it as a base of operations in massachusetts, they also go into more detail about the new world they are in when finding a newspaper with the date of October 23, 2077. With this information and the small amount of background radiation, it is decided to land more people in Salem, only due to the need for those people to be there when setting it up as a base of operations.

Several more squads would be deployed to Salem along with some scientists, technicians, engineers, computer and communications specialists, and one business representative from McDonalds who insisted on going to Salem to look over this "Drumlin Diner" and repurpose it for the McDonald's brand.

Salem, Massachusetts, New England Commonwealth.
June 2nd-10th, 2265 EST

The technicians and engineers quickly start setting up a small generator, though when scrounging around some cars for parts they find a random truck that still works, they quickly look under the hood to find it having a small fusion reactor. The engineers quickly call for car mechanics to be brought to shore to take apart the truck safely.

When the truck was taken apart the fusion reactor was taken to the top of the church to be turned into a generator for the whole town, several power lines would be repurposed for powering the town and some of the more vital machinery. Some of the power is generated by the small generator, although the small generator's power is mostly used by the newly renamed McDonalds.

A farm is set up to both feed the people in Salem, the ships, and to supply the McDonalds with products. Several small ships with plants and the necessary supplies to build a greenhouse arrive at the docks, allowing the soldiers in Salem a constant source of food. The first plants to be planted would be some Potatoes, Lettuce, Onions, Pickles, Tomatoes, and a singular Apple tree that was planted when some radioactive soil was cleared from the top layer of the ground.

A small livestock farm, consisting of cows, pigs, and chickens that were on some of the cargo ships, is built. The farm produces a small amount of meat which would become a commodity very soon, the meat would be transported back to the fleet to be processed on onboard facilities, and then sent back to the mainland to be served in the newly rebranded McDonalds.

Some rubble from one of the former restaurants in Salem would be cleared out, giving more room in the building and starting up the process of rebuilding the restaurant to be made into a Starbucks (later on down the line). Other buildings that are at least partially ruined, just rubble, or have lots of rubble within or near them, are also cleared out and planned to be rebuilt. Within the few days of the US armed forces, or the remnants thereof arriving, Salem has started to look better than it has in nearly 2 centuries.

In all, the presence of the Remnants of the US armed forces and some civilians would give some hope to the people of the Commonwealth. Salem has started to become one of the beacons of the commonwealth and sooner or later people will decide to move there.

AN: I have no idea how the military works, so any help is appreciated. I also encourage people writing stuff in-between the chapters to give the story more flavor when I am focused on the plot or advancing the timeline, I am also looking for a beta, so if anyone wants to they can beta for me when I write.

CHAPTER 1 PART 2: A look in a month later
CHAPTER 1 PART 2: A month later

Salem, Massachusetts, New England Commonwealth.
July 10th, 2265 EST

It has been a month since the initial event, Salem's buildings have started to look better, business is booming in the McDonalds, and several cars have been gutted for their fusion generators. Many things are looking up, but things will get even better soon enough.

While breaking into one of the boarded up buildings some soldiers found a sort of catapult type weapon and a bomb, they also find more of said bombs when looking inside of another building they find to have once been a sort of military checkpoint inside of Salem. They decide to test it far from shore (and thus far from Salem proper) and find that it is a miniature nuke launcher, they decide to lock it up for only emergencies due to the low amount of actual mini-nukes.

Getting back to the McDonalds, it has gotten better. The former lettering signifying Drumlin Diner has been taken down, and some of the letters have been reused to spell McDonalds (though they had to improvise on some of the letters because the original sign didn't have them). The fast-food restaurant has been booming due to the small greenhouse and farm on the outskirts of town, though many are planning on finding a better place to farm than the one they chose. It has also gotten a makeover, in which it has been cleaned to standard, tiles were replaced, and a small kitchen was built to make burgers and fries. One can honestly say that if there was a working currency that McDonalds would be the richest company on this side of the East Coast.

The docks have been upgraded as well, though the upgrades have been for a more easy access to cargo. The wooden docks have been replaced by concrete and have been widened with more facilities. The concrete was gathered from the surrounding buildings and brought to the docks via ships.

The mansion that Beta team found was secured, when they did they found out that it was a museum of witchcraft. They had to break the door open due to it being chained up from the inside When they interred they found the things you would usually find in a museum, so they decide to renovate it to make it a museum once more, only to help the people of the wasteland to learn of the history of the pre-war world.

A small group of the last remaining bits of the army were sent south in a humvee brought in from one of the ships, they would come across a small irradiated hole. They found the hole breaking the road so they had to drive around to continue on. While they were driving down the road dodging the vehicles, they came across a road going up a small hill to the left. Up top the hill looks to be a lighthouse, they decide to go up the road to secure said lighthouse and use it to help coordinate with their ships.

When walking up the road they come across a truck and a house. Going around the truck and entering the house they find that it would be a good place for some people to actually live if they fixed up the roof. Going through the backdoor and walking towards the lighthouse, they find a walkway going down to a small docks, which makes securing the lighthouse as a sort of dock of trade to be an even better idea.

Thus Kingsport lighthouse has been secured by the Remnants as a trade port, which later on would revitalize trade between coastal areas, more specifically the island of Far Harbor, though that will only be important in 22 years (or in 2287).

Several ships were sent to find facilities to dock at in order to fix their ships. When traveling to Providence, Rhode Island they find out that in this universe/timeline/future? that Providence was upgraded to be able to take care of military vessels, they also learn that Providence was actually spared some nuclear exchange, though they note that it may only be some sort of exception to the rule and not the rule itself.

Docking in Providence they quickly learn of several factions within the city. The Merchants is a group of traders who have a stake within the old commercial district, they primarily focus on trading with the several enclave settlements within the city. Next is the dockers, former workers at the dock. When the bombs dropped most of them were ghoulified, ever since then they have kept up their control of the docks, waiting for traders to come so they have purpose once more. They have also kept the local raider gangs away from the docks and their value. Finally there are the settlements. There are several within the city proper, some built above the entrances to several vaults, some built on top of buildings, and some built underground. Though most of them are built in random small neighborhoods that have walls built around them to protect themselves.

When they dock they first meet the Dockers, who were ready to help them in any way they can. At first the crew were disgusted, but after learning about what happened to the ghouls they quickly became sympathetic. They allowed the Dockers to help them with their ships, but on one condition. They get to own the docks that were once owned by the U.S Navy, several dockworkers also told them they were once part of the Navy, but when the bombs dropped they thought it futile to even be part of a dead organisation. The captain of the USS Wisconsin, A revamped Iowa Class Battleship, decided to allow the former Navy Men to rejoin them as extra crew members.

The docks were secured and soldiers were sent into the town to clear and secure it, at this time they have the docks and some surrounding buildings, those buildings mostly being offices.

In all, Salem is looking even better, Providence has a new faction with working military hardware, and Kingsport lighthouse is being revamped slowly. There may be a fast expansion now, but sooner or later there will be a slowing of expansion due to the coming winter.

CHAPTER 1 PART 3: Fall in the New England wasteland
CHAPTER 1 PART 3: Fall of 2265

North-Eastern Commonwealth, Massachusetts, New England Commonwealth.
October 5th-November 20th, 2265 EST

Two months later and a new business comes to Providence. After the Remnants (the name is now officially used by them) secure almost all parts of the city on the coast and around the docks, one of the local restaurant chains within Providence, a Providence Fast Food Eatery, is bought out by the McDonalds company. This is due to the Small amount of income coming from Salem, so the new executives of the McDonald's brand (formed from several high level representatives, employees, and one executive who was on one of the ships at the time) decided to buy an entire restaurant chain they find is entirely within the city of Providence. Starbucks also gets in on the action by buying an almost fully intact coffee shop in Providence. Though they have barely even renovated yet and are planning to open in late 2266 once they are done.

Providence itself has gotten more organised, with the coastal raider gangs broken up and unable to raid the interior, several settlements have started to expand. One such settlement is the Rhode Island College settlement. Built within the old Rhode Island College, the RIC is one of the major settlements within Providence. They are central to trade, some farming, gun making, and some knowledge about the old world.

The RIC decided to expand into the rest of Providence. Though their expansion has been slowed due to raiders moving into their local area.

Salem gets its first new citizens when several settlers who were planning to start up some farms in the area find the town of Salem while walking along the roads. Remnant soldiers first greet them when they walk up the bridge that connects Gibson Point Pier to the North Eastern Commonwealth (I'll get into that later). They quickly decide to start living in the newly available apartments that the Remnants were fixing up before they got there. Some of them even get jobs at several different businesses like Mcdonalds, the newly opened Starbucks that was rebuilt from the ground up, the store that once held the mini-nuke launcher (that was fixed up and turned into a small gun shop), and the shops in the small market in the middle of town.

Salem went from a measly 100 people to 134 people, and with caravans starting to run to Salem, and due to the routes and their safety, several caravans have thought to set up their headquarters in Salem due to it being central to all of it.

But with all good things there comes the bad. Raiders have started to try and attack caravans on their routes to Salem, with one small raider gang in Mahkra Fishpacking plant being the most prevalent even though they are only 20 strong. It was decided to send troops up to Mahkra to secure it and use it for its original purpose. Thus 2 Humvees drive up to Mahkra, passing a ruined house and garage, onto the bridge passing an old oil/gasoline/coolant truck, and parking right outside of the factory. The following battle was one sided in the favor of the Remnants, with their military grade gear they easily secured the outside killing 12 raiders, moving inside into the main area they killed 4 more. They would find an elevator going down into the more industrial areas, they quickly move in and kill the last remaining 3 and the leader.

While looking they find that the factory could easily be revived due to the still working fusion generator. They quickly look for factory workers to work in the fishpacking plant, they also restart the conveyor belts and hack one of the Protectrons with the industry personality. At first the Protectron walked around, but after a while they got it to stand near the conveyor belts. In Salem, some small boats would be used by some of the new settlers to fish, giving Salem a more important export they can trade out for other things. The settlers also start deciding that more people are needed in the area, so they start asking their family members to join them in Salem.

Going south is Longneck Lukowski's Cannery, a former cannery plant that canned several foodstuffs. It was decided to secure that factory as well, with every piece of machinery being fixed and or reactivated. The factory is planned to open in December, with the month-long wait being looking for employees and cleaning the machines to standard. With the two food packing factories, the Remnants would see more and more money/caps, making them more of a target for raiders and Gunners. Although the raiders can't do anything to the Remnants with pipe-guns, and the Gunners only have pre-war military weapons that are poorly kept and could explode on them at any moment.

South-West of LLC is the Lynn Pier Parking, which is a former parking lot that the Remnants secured to find a way to get nuclear vehicles working again, and to secure the fusion generators within the vehicles so they can build more semi-reactors around their territory to power their various facilities. The Remnants stop just shy of going to Nahant, due to them wanting to secure their current holdings. They may want to expand into Nahant in the summer of next year, though with the current problems they are facing in the Commonwealth they may want to hold off on it until they have a better base of operations in Rhode Island's state capital.

Trade between the Commonwealth and Providence has started to grow, and with it many people are learning that there is free real estate within the area of Boston. Several settlers decide to renovate some ships to sail around the coast to safe harbor in Salem, with many just deciding to start going between the city and the town, creating a small trade network which would expand to encompass several coastal towns and New York (though New York was just a recent addition in 2287).

In Salem, all the soldiers are preparing for Thanksgiving. The rest of the Settlers (townsfolk now) are confused, though they join in on the preparations. One of the soldiers, a Private, said that this sounds like how they were taught the origins of Thanksgiving were, people from a far off land meeting with the natives to have a feast. Several foodstuffs which are unknown to the wastelanders, such as Chicken (a substitute of Turkey until some of the Turkey eggs hatch into adulthood), are eaten in the feast.

Many things have happened that fall, with the importance of the Remnants and their causing of the connection to Providence via looking for port. Later on the interconnectivity of New England's port towns will cause the capability for the unification of the Northeastern United States at once, reforming the United States in the process. Though with major cities like New York it will take a while to move into the city fully, with it's apparent size, one of the Nuclear detonation sights is actually far from Manhattan island, but still within New York. In all, the first year of the Remnants being in the Commonwealth and subsequently the New England wasteland, they are already causing massive ripples in history.

CHAPTER 1 interlude: What is this? (John's pov)
CHAPTER 1 Interlude: What is this?

Salem, Massachusetts, New England Commonwealth.
December 25th, 2265 EST 10:23 AM

John just couldn't believe it.

His mom was taking him somewhere called "Salem", he doesn't know where that is but he hopes that it will be safer than where they were living before. He looked at the weird people in strange clothing and armor, looking almost like Gunners.

One of them, a man with a funny moustache, came forward and asked his mom his and her name. She gave them to him and he wrote them down on a piece of paper. He then nodded and let them through.

Looking to his left he sees an old parking lot with several of the strange people surrounding and within it, he wonders if they were trying to get the cars that his grandma used to talk about to run again.

He continued to look around, spotting a lighthouse in the distance. Eventually they pass a small castle-like mansion, turning right they walk up going past some houses that look like they are being renovated.

Walking into town he sees a sight he hasn't in all of his 6 year old life, multiple red and green lights being strung up around town. He looks to one of the buildings with decorations, seeing that it has two yellow arches on a pole with words under the arches. The words he can barely read.

He continues looking around with wide eyes only a 6 year old can have. Looking at a building in a corner street, he notices it's sign. Looking to his mom he sees that she is looking around with a look of fascination, and that funny look she gives when she is worried.

They arrive at a small building, about three stories tall. The outside sign says something about citizenship, but he didn't care about anything like that. His mom led him inside to a whole new environment.

The front room looked new, as if it was built recently. He looked around and found a small green tree with some decorations. If he remembered his grandma's stories, and that little picture book he looked at sometimes, it was a christmas tree.

"Hello Miss, how may I help you?" asked the lady at the front desk.

His mom walked up to the lady "Uh, yes. I was told to come here when I spoke to a trader who came from here. He said my son and I could gain citizenship here if we went to this building?"

The lady took a glance at him and then looked back at his mom. "Yes, you can gain citizenship here. Though you may need to sit down a bit to sign some paperwork, unless you can't write in english. Then we would have to allow you to take the more… computerised version of the form".

His mom nodded and the lady led them into a small waiting room. He looked around and found some magazines with some pictures in them, they mostly showed cool looking cars and robots.

After a while some people led his mom and him into a room with some weird looking computers and pieces of paper, they sat down and his mom started to write things down.

Salem, Massachusetts, New England Commonwealth.
December 25th, 2265 EST 1:58 PM

After his mom finished the paperwork they were led to a group of tents. The tent they got was brown with some splotches of black and a darker brown around the entire thing. There were two sleeping bags and a small table in the tent.

His mom led him in and they started to get comfy, later on someone gave them a house(tent?)warming gift. Later on several people were surrounding a tree like the one in the building, his mom and him walked over and joined in. They started singing and passing around gifts, with him gaining a small Robot action figure (That small model kit in Mahkra).

He thinks he's going to like it here.

Chapter 2 Part 1: January and February
Chapter 2 Part 1: The start of a new year

North East Boston area, Massachusetts, New England Commonwealth
January 1st-February 28th

For January and February, things will get interesting.

During this time The Remnants decide to mostly consolidate their claims, though they do expand down into Nahant. Mostly to grab the southern port, which would help them upkeep their fleet to a certain extent.

In Salem, things have become somewhat normal, with the homes on the outskirts being rebuilt and patched into the power grid. Mentioning the power grid, a proper Fusion generator is built from the Fusion batteries that were inside the various unexploded vehicles,

Getting back to the town itself, the McDonalds has seen a boom, with many people buying food and even getting jobs there. To this point, the new CEO has decided to expand their business to other areas. Most prominently is Nahant, which The Remnants have recently expanded into. So they decide to buy a building and rebuild it into a new restaurant (we will get into that later).

Getting into Nahant, it needs some fixing up (and that's an understatement). Some of the first things that they notice are that the port leads into a massive wreck of ships, with an overturned cargo ship in the middle of all of it. Due to this, it will take more than two months to fix up the Nahant docks. It will also take longer to move all the ships to dockyards to be fixed, or to different areas to break them down.

Further into the city of Boston, in Fenway Park, sat the makeshift city/town of Diamond City. Diamond City was one of the major Settlements in the area, and they have learned of the new force to the NorthEast. Because of learning about a new force, and that they were rebuilding the towns in their controlled area, they decide to start sending traders.

Rhode Island, New England Commonwealth
January 1st-February 28th

In Providence, Remnant territory has exploded. They now control half of the entire city, and that is mostly due to several communities around them joining their own volition. With the massive expansion to their territory in Providence, The Remnants have decided to place their main base (and provisional capital).

The Dockers have started moving around to the many docks around Remnant territory. The Merchants have also started to run many different trade routes, and have also decided to reform into a more merchant guild type thing.

The town of Newport was secured easily enough and with the capturing of Newport, The Remnants will be able to train new officers and have a base for their navy. In late February Newport has seen massive growth in the active amounts of ships sailing into its waters, with most of those ships being owned by the Remnants.

Truly these two months have seen a growth in the territory of the Remnants, and also a massive expansion to the capability for people to live easier. Next up, March and April.

Chapter 2 Part 2: March and April
Chapter 2 Part 2: New Advances

Nahant, Massachusetts, New England Commonwealth

March 1st-April 30th

March and April were the months that saw the start of a new currency and an advancement in the economy.

Nahant has seen even more people coming into it than ever, with many of them being new hires to a new construction company, the Johnson and McLaughlin Construction Co. This construction company was made by two men, A Remnant soldier who was once on a construction company and an Irish immigrant from the Ireland Wastes. Their job was to help build up the new McDonalds and to help rebuild other buildings around the Nahant area.

A generator is built-in Nahant, with a warehouse in the port area being used as a makeshift power plant. With this new "power plant" power can be sent all over the town and surrounding areas.

The new Mcdonald's has had the former building on the property cleared to make way for authentic, red, and yellow Micky D's. The new foundation would be laid in late April, with some of the early stages of the new building forming going into early June.

Salem, Massachusetts, New England Commonwealth

March 1st-April 30th

Up north in Salem, a new development blooms.

A printer in a small local bank that used to print money in extreme need (devaluing the economy) was discovered. This printer, and subsequently the surrounding bank, became the first proper new place to store their monetary gains reliably and safely.

The new currency system uses the pre-war dollar as a base, but with a few differences. These differences are to make money, how the Remnants remember their own money in their world.

The Remnants would start getting this new currency to be used more and more in their territory. Then, with bottlecaps slowly falling out of the local economy, the economy can be made more uniform and orderly.

Salem also sees more economic growth, with traders from all around easily going to it to trade their goods. So, naturally, this causes a need for some law enforcement, which is easily formed.

Several Remnant soldiers who had a history in their local police force were hired to train new officers. They would be a sort of Military Police until the recruits could graduate from their school. A building would also be repurposed to be the Police Headquarters, overlooking all other Police stations in the area.

North of Salem, Massachusetts, New England Commonwealth

March 1st-April 30th

Further north, a patrol would come across an old military convoy; that convoy consisted of many different APCs, trucks, Jeeps, and a single tank. The convoy looked like it was transporting some hardware to the Military bases in the area. Two trucks held some Power Armor in them, although they are mostly just T-45s (10 of them). Others had some weapons, like the Assault Rifle (242 of them), Combat Rifle (159 of them), and some laser rifles (200 of them). Unfortunately, most of the existing guns were broken (125 Assault Rifles, 68 Combat Rifles, and 173 Laser Rifles). Those who worked were severely degraded, with only a few closer to their once factory clean conditions.

After this discovery, the troops called in to command to tell them about the find. Once command hears about the group's discovery, they quickly deploy some of their convoys to the area. The weapons and Power Armor are collected along with the vehicles. Finally, the dead soldiers are brought with them so they can bury them.

The scientist with them is given two of the working Laser Rifles and three working T-45s. One of the Laser Rifles would be taken apart and looked over to find a way to develop their own. The other is fixed up and is used to show how powerful their Laser Rifles are. The T-45s, the Remnants would learn, are pretty advanced for what they are. The inertial dampeners in the legs of the suit are really advanced, along with the motors themselves. The scientists would do with the T-45s what they did with the Laser rifles, use one as a fixed-up one to compare their own making with, and another to reverse engineer their own. They would also use one to develop Exo-suits, which they think is far more useful than a massive power suit that could weigh them down.

The rest would be used to train troops or be used for parts, especially the broken ones.

Providence, Rhode Island, New England Commonwealth

March 1st-April 30th

In Providence, the Remnants start to set in for the local population, with many young children just view them as a common occurrence. Like in Salem, a Police force is set up out of the old main Police Headquarters. The Police force would use some ghouls and Remnant soldiers who were once Police officers to train some of the local population to help hold up the law.

To the North, an old solar power plant is reactivated by a random wastelander, who some say has helped many within the Ottowa wastes. This gives some power to Providence in the day, which quickens the rebuilding of the once state capital.

The Remnants would quickly secure the Solar power plant to hold onto the region's power, so no hostile faction could have it and extort them out of their money.

The Remnants can trade between their holdings in the Northern Boston area and Rhode Island with Providence's port and dockyards. In addition, with trade booming along the New England coast, several merchants from the south and north that have boats, be they primitive or something else, can start sailing into the port of Providence to trade their goods.

When there is a trade network, there will always be pirates to steal goods. The Remnants wouldn't have to deal with these new waterborne raiders, but the Merchants from out of their territory will have to deal with them. This is why the Remnants decided to use some of their submarines to patrol the waters to look for pirates and protect Merchant's vessels.

Newport, Rhode Island, New England Commonwealth

March 1st-April 30th

The town of Newport has seen a massive boom in its population; with the people moving to it from all across the wasteland, things have started to get more complicated.

For one, Newport has only started being populated by people, and due to this, it is seeing a lot of disputes between people over what one would think would be small things. The things people are mainly fighting over are buying goods and who owns which building or home. To fix these problems, the Remnants have decided to set up a system where people would buy a house or building for a set cost, which would be low due to the massive amount of unoccupied dwellings and shops. This would help the problem, and people would decide to set up shops, with McDonald's and Starbucks buying two former buildings (an old Rhode Island exclusive fast-food restaurant and a Slocum's Joe, respectively).

The Remnants would also have people sign up to join them, primarily as regular soldiers. So to arm and train them, they are given some of the Assault and Combat Rifles found up north and down here in Rhode Island. Others would sign up to be sailors, with a few to be officers in the navy.

Newport has become a significant area where the Remnants have parked their ships to fix them up, with several boats having their fuel source swapped out with Fusion generators found in some of the buildings. This has allowed them to keep their fleet up and running for longer.

Businesses, New England Commonwealth

March 1st-April 30th

Several businesses from the Remnants old world that came with them have expanded, notably McDonald's and Starbucks. But others have decided to grow as well. These companies are Microsoft, Bethesda, Apple, and a new local company Energex.

Microsoft and Apple have set up their main headquarters in Providence and have decided to look at the Pip-Boy technology found around the area. In addition, Bethesda has subsumed the copyrights to some of the video games found all over the wasteland. Due to it being a subsidiary of Microsoft, Microsoft now also has ownership over the games. Finally, Energex has decided to research the Fusion core and Microfusion cell technology that exists, and they already have a breakthrough. They can now reproduce the Microfusion cell cheaply and easily, so they have bought the old fish packing plant to turn it into a Microfusion cell factory.

Back to Microsoft, they decided to continue making computers. Still, due to how expensive it is to make more of the vital components for modern computers, they have decided to use parts from their stockpile to make them. Microsoft has also made a holotape add-on for their computers so people can play holotape games.

Apple, meanwhile, has decided to use the terminals around the wasteland as parts to build and sell more of them, which makes it easier on them in the long run. They have also decided to make a holotape add-on due to Microsoft's success in using them for entertainment.

Bethesda uses the holotape games as a base and has made a holotape version of 'The Elder Scrolls,' calling it 'The Elder Scrolls: Retro.' They also use the holotapes to make a version of Apocalypta (their universe's version of Fallout) called 'Apocalypta Retro.' These two games have started to sell in a shop in Salem owned by Bethesda called 'GameStop' after the old store chain.

Honestly, these past two months have been exciting in the grand scheme of things, with those weapons and Power Armor discovered up north, to Bethesda and Microsoft getting back into their usual markets. So what will the future bring for the wasteland?

AN: Wow, that took a while to write. So anyway, what did ya'll think? Did you like this part? What are some of your pet peeves? Is there anything grammatically I missed? Please tell me; I need constructive criticism to help give you all a better reading experience.
