[X] "Sup doc? Who's this guy?"
One of Carter's eyebrows raises up at your response, "What did it just say?"
"I know you're old Carter, but you're not deaf yet," the Doc walks over to your right side until she's out of your field of view.
"Sorry," Carter says, start to pace in front of you, "It's just that last I checked, AIs couldn't be snarky."
"Well I must be an exception then," you say before feeling a jolt in the right side of your processors, "Doc, I thought I told you. Warn me before you start changing my code around!"
"And I thought I told you to deal with it," is the reply she gives you.
"How'd you like it if someone suddenly started messing with your cerebral cortex?"
You don't get an answer, just another jolt through your brain as another update to your data streams in. You don't think you're ever gonna get used to this.
Carter places fingers on the bridge of his nose, "Monson, please tell me this isn't really what you were trying to show me."
"Oh, sorry," you stay sarcastically, "Did I not live up to all of your lofty expectations?"
"Honestly, no. You don't," he replies bluntly before turning towards the Prof. You make an extra data cache and file him under "Shit-list" for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, it is then deleted by your creator, who is currently rooting around in your brain.
Carter speaks, "I know I said I needed something, but...seriously? This?! If I wanted an AI, I could just go buy one from any planet! And I could get it customized! What makes this one any different?"
Rather than answer, your creator steps back into your field of vision. She stands in front of you and taps away on the Link installed in her head. After a few seconds, three pictures materialize in front of you. The white, cubic pixels that make them up dance and shake in the air before solidifying into discernible images. They seem to be different...bodies. Robotic bodies, or Frames to be exact.
Afterwards, the doc smiles and says, "Tell me, if you could be installed into any of these three, which would it be?"
"Monson, what are you doing?" Carter says from the right side, "It's just going to say whatever you've programmed it to….wait….what the fu—" Carter rushes over and skids into view, eyes wide with surprise.
Your creator remains calm, keeping her smile while holding the three pictures out for you.
You look between the three of them and choose…
[] The Super Robot Frame - There's just something really appealing about being a giant, fucking robot that can punch battleships in half. Unfortunately, that also makes you a pretty big target. And you won't be doing much outside of sitting in a hangar waiting for your pilot all day. Not to mention it would cost a very pretty penny to keep you up and running.
[] The Personal Frame - You would be given the equivalent of a humanoid robotic body. You be a few feet taller than normal humans, but you could at least walk around outside! Plus, it wouldn't be that expensive to fix you up if you got destroyed! But, then you wouldn't be able to get access to all the cool toys, and couldn't fight skyscraper sized beast either.
[] The Battlesuit Frame - You'd be someone's freaking suit of armor. How does that not sound amazing? Not only could you go outside, but you wouldn't have to do all the heavy lifting! It be both you and your partner working together! Plus, you like the idea of blowing up battleships while being half their size! The downside is, you would need a pilot….unless they spring for the really expensive shit that lets you walk around on your own.
After you make your selection, the pictures rearrange themselves into new images.
"And what about the metal? What do you want to be made of?"
[] Standard Titanium Metal - Cheap, easy to manufacture, and is still pretty reliable. Nothing really special about it though.
[] E-Metal - You've got some records of this stuff. Apparently it's some kind of alloy discovered by the first alien race humans encountered in the Galaxy. Not much is known about it, except that it's rumored to be "magical." You doubt that.
[] Synthetic - Now this...this stuff is really iffy. It's just recently been created, and not everyone knows it's full capability. If you take it, you'd be both a pioneer and a test dummy. Still....it could be pretty cool...
This will decide what Frame you will be put into when the Quest officially starts.
The Metal will also change around how the Quest goes, and what you can do. For example, choosing Battlesuit and Synthetic will basically turn you into a robotic version of a symbiote or the synthetic suit that Iron Man has.
