The Guardian. That is what you are. Forged by the Knights of Delta, you serve loyally and willingly. Even if protecting life is the cause of your creators, it is a cause that you uphold willingly for you made the choice to do so long ago.

As for what you are, that is an interesting question. For while all life is unique and special, you are more distinctly so for there is none like you even if two others come close. Your creators made you from the corpse of one of their other creations, one which had fallen in battle against the enemy. That exact relation being the two of you still alludes you to this day. Is she your family and if so, what family member is she? Are you are her or is she a separate entity to you whose death granted you life?

In the end, the question is irrelevant. You fought in the war and you lost as the enemy's unrelenting advance drove you and your creators back. For in defeat, there victory as while species where driven from their worlds, their people and culture were perserved by your creators.

While you fought enemy soldiers and warships, you mainly battle your counterpart. While you are made of technology and tools wielded by your creators and their ilk, your counterpart was main of shaped energy, given brutal animal cunning and no other purpose, but to destroy all life. You are the Guardian and it was the Destroyer.

Then you have the Curator. While you protect and the Destroyer kills, the Curator seeks. Knowledge and power is what the Curator seeks. While you lack knowledge of the Curator's origin, you do know that it is was made by a species which sought to remain uninvolved in the war. When Curator's creators were forced to side with your creators during the final stages of the war, he would join you in battle against the Destroyer. After all, the enemy sought to end all life and the Curator and its creators were life.

And now here the three are, in the final days of the war between your creators and the enemy as whether or not life in this galaxy will continue. The three of you, alike in being, but different in person, are thrown into an exploding jump drive as all of your previous might is scattered and you do your best to hold on what is left.

Only able to gather three pieces of power, you hold onto them as you exit the portal, coming into a foreign dimension. A world of blue and green dominates the local space, a world untouched by the long war that you fought in. Until now that is.

What World do you arrive at?
[] [World] The Divided World. As one half of civilisation remains united while the other half has been broken for over a generation, will humanity restored its shattered half or will it be joined by the united half?
[] [World] The Precarious World. Two superpowers remain locked in a state of cold war, a single misstep could doom civilisation and potentially all of humanity.
[] [World] The Millennial World. A mostly peaceful world, there are no world ending threats and humanity continues to rise ever higher.

In this vote, you get to pick your setting. Each one is an alternate Earth through how alternate each one is varies. The first world is based on one of my HoI4 games for alternative WWII and is about a generation after said WWII ended. The second one is a late 20th century in an ongoing cold war. The third one is the least alternate as it is based on Earth as the year becomes 2000.

Each setting will have different tech levels and different politics to deal with, which will change over time depending on the actions of the entities and other factions.

I was originally going to put in a vote to let you choose which Entity to play as, but the Destroyer wasn't sustainable long term and of the last two, the Guardian worked best as either the protagonist or the antagonist while the Curator is better suited to being an NPC.

Each entity will be a superpower granting entity and there are two paths to take. One is to directly use your starting powers as a conventional superhero while the other is to grant a power to human like a deity and their paladins and clerics in fantasy settings. Both paths aren't not mutually exclusive so while it is possible to fully focus on just one.

Choosing a Path
Arriving in this new dimension, you quickly set up the basics. You set up your cyber-world in the local dimensional orbit around this world and engage the usual security measures. While you don't expect any threats to your cyber-world from the Curator or the locals, you want to stay hidden from the Destroyer. That mad beast would happily hunt you down in your own home given the chance so you will never give him the opportunity to find it.

You know tha the Curator will be doing the same with his equivalent of your cyber-world and like you have, he will also set up security measures similar to your own. While it keeps him safe from the Destroyer, it also means that you won't be able to find easily and will have to locate him via his actions on this world before you can contact him.

There is also the matter of that fact that you don't know where the two of you stand anymore. Originally, he was indifferent, merely seeking knowledge as he was designed to by his creators. Then he was nominally on the same side with you, but that was only due to the fact that the Enemy sought to end all life and the Curator was a form of life. Without the threat of the Enemy looming over them, the Curator might decide to cut ties with you or become another threat to you.

And then there is the Destroyer. Hopefully that beast will have died in a crash arrival, but you know that won't be so lucky. Still it isn't too bad, unlike the Curator, the Destroyer won't be hard to find. It simply isn't in the monster's nature to hide and sooner or latter, it will reveal itself. Given past experiences, it will be the former unless it is has sustained injuries.

While finding the Destroyer won't be a problem, defeating your foe will be. While you are equiped to protect and build, the Destroyer is solely devoted to killing and harming and that puts you are at disadvantage in any fight between the two of you. However, if the Destroyer does shows its face again, you should be able to rely on the Curator to aid you if the two of you are able to make contact with each other.

Even if your other goals end up in opposite to each other, both of you have a shared interest in ensuring the downfall of the Destroyer and working together to do so. Not just because one of you would struggle on their own against the Destroyer, but because working together against a mutual foe is the smart thing to do.

Regardless of your fellow transdimensional entities, you need to decide your next move. With the Destroyer most likely still being out there and the Curator being a potential threat, inaction is not something you can afford. Fortunately, there are currently two paths for you to take with your limited resources.

The first is to directly intervene in this world, creating an avatar to act as a body for you and let you take action on the planet. While doing so would leave temporarily indisposed should anything lethal happen to your avatar, it would allow to concentrate your power whilst being able to bring it all to bare at once. Not only that, but it would give you more control over how your powers will grow and what form they will take.

The second option is to find suitable hosts on this world to grant out your powers to. While this leaves you safe and protected, it limits the influence that you will have over the growth of your power. For the most part, you will need to plan things out ahead of time such as paying close attention when picking those who receive your power so you don't have to worry about your power being abused. You also will have limited control over how your power will grow as while you can pick the basic path that they wil go in, the details will beyond your ability to decide.

Which do you go?
[] The First Option.
[] The Second Option.

Potential Champions
You decide that the second option is the better one. While you would be unable to determine exactly how your powers will develop as they grow, that small loss of control is worth the safety gained from not having to expose your avatar to danger.

Of course, that means having to find a suitable set of hosts to grant your powers to. It wouldn't do for your power to be misused and used to abuse others. Thankfully, there is over four billion souls on this planet to you to use. That said, you are somewhat limited in what part of the planet you can access as you are limited to the lands of Yanks and Canucks for now.

Nonetheless, you have plenty of people to work with. While many you are forced to dismiss outright due to their current activities or personalities while even more failed to meet your criteria as they wouldn't use your power properly, using for self-gain instead of aiding others.

After a short while, you are able to find appropriate candidates, a few for each. While there is no doubt to be more worthy candidates out there, you don't have time to find all of them.

The candidates for your Healing Power are all similar. Each one is a trained in local healing arts and work as a medic. Should they get your Healing Power, they will use it to heal those in need of said healing rather than keep it for themselves or only a select few such those that can pay them.

Kimberly Case is the first. A Yank adult female, she is in the latter half of fifth decade by the time measures of the local sophonts. Coming from a family with wealth and luxury, she is naturally kind and determined person, unyielding when it comes to doing her duty to save the lives of others, even when her own life is at risk. However, Kimberly has a recent downturn in her life due to a betrayal by one of her closest friends, causing her to bottle up as she turns to drug-infused liquids and throws herself into her work.

The second Healer option is another adult female, but a Canuck this time. In early part of her fourth decade, Zoey Hudson is a kind and gentle soul. Unable to get a proper education in healing arts due her poor background, she relies on government support for housing and substance and other basic needs. Between her lacking education and her desire to help others, Zoey works as an assistant medic rather than as a proper medic.

The last Healer option is an Albert Graham, a Yank adult male. Like the other Yank healer, he is a proper medic. Assertive and helpful, he also comes from a wealthy family and now in his fourth decade, he devoted his life to healing others due to inspiration from relative in his childhood.

As for the Technology power, you found hosts with more variety.

Philip Coleman is a young adult Yank who works as an engineer in a poor part of his home settlement. Secretive and clumsy, he has lofty goals of making the world a better place and leaving his mark on it as a result.

The second Technology choice is a Canadian male adult in his fourth decade. A kind and caring man, Isaac Barrett runs his own family business as someone who repairs broken machines with his mate as both of their offspring above adulthood.

The third Technology choice is Bailey West, a Yank soldier in his relative youth. Brave and filled with a sense of responsibility, he is one of those responsible for working with the Hellfire weapons that the Yank nation have in their arsenal.

And frankly, you are concerned that they have so many Hellfire weapons and at the implications of why they would have so many.

As for the Adaptation power, there is another set of three candidates.

Reagan Gregory is a somewhat elderly Yank male. While you don't have a good grasp on the local biology of the native sophonts, he is in his seventh decade of his life and is bearing signs of old age. A wealthy and connected man, he uses his riches and contacts to help improve the lives of others and advance the world forward of out kindness.

Benjamin Davidson is a Canuck male in his third decade. While he has grown up in a reasonable well-off home environment, he recently lost his parents and has started to pick fights with those who would abuse others on the street.

The last choice is Eleanor Allen, a Canuck female in her second decade. With unearned confident, Eleanor is an assertive and social native. With her mother dying in childbirth and her father fleeing when that happened, Eleanor and her younger sister lived with her grandfather. However, her grandfather recently died, leaving Eleanor and her sister on their own.

For this vote, you get to give a power to one of three random characters I rolled up or keep it for yourself for now. While I have some potential storylines for each one, at the moment, they are blank characters that I came up with today to have their story be developed in this quest.

For each set of vote options, pick one and add any restrictions to the power to limit what it can do both now and in the future. You don't have to add any restrictions if you don't want to and if you do, examples would be things like can't be used against the Guardian or weaknesses like can only be used when exposed to sunlight.

The First Superhumans
[X][Heal] Kimberly Case
-[X][Heal] No restrictions
[X][Tech] Bailey West
-[X][Tech] No schematics, interface only
[X][Adapt] Eleanor Allen
-[X][Adapt] No restrictions

You make your choices in the end, going for only minimal restrictions with two of the powers granted having no restrictions and the third one having one of its two abilities locked off. Kimberly Case will receive the Healing power to heal her patients as she throws herself into her work. The soldier Bailey West shall get only half of the Technology power with just the ability to interact with machines as you do not wish to give his government an edge by giving one of their soldiers the ability to steal machine designs from their rivals and allies. The barely an adult Eleanor shall be granted the Adaption power to help her take care of her younger sister.

"Nothing too serious," says Doctor Case as she inspects the ankle, "It just looks like it has been sprained. It should help on its own with time. Just make sure to get plenty of rest, regularly apply an ice pack for up to twenty minutes every two or three hours. Wrapping it with a bandage to support and compress it should also help and make sure to keep it elevated. Do all of that and you should see some clear progress in a few days and it should be mostly healed in no more than two weeks. However, it will a good few weeks to fully heal, but we can cover that another time."

"Thanks doc," says the grateful man.

"Just doing my job," replies Doctor Case, unable to keep the tiredness out of her voice.

Spending most of her time at work and doing late nights has been slowly taking her toll on her and Kimberly case knows it. But after what Heather did, helping others in her work is Kimberly only refuge beyond her new drinking habits. So while overworking isn't good, Kimberly still considers it better than becoming a drunkard. At least one of them gets some good done.

And yet she still may become a drunk as despite her best efforts, Kimberly still finds herself turning to drink.

That scum husband of mine. I can't believe he would just cheat one me like that. Especially with that whore.

Then it happens. Just as she is helping the man to his feet, Kimberly feels it activating. The woman pauses as she feels the light rippling over her patient, healing bruises, scratches and finally the sprained ankle. It last no more than a couple of minutes, but by the time whatever it is over, the man is completely healed.

"What the hell was that?" demands the man, sounding more than a little freaked out.

"I don't-I might need to go and tell someone about this," replies Kimberly, shocked by the supernatural events that she just witnessed.

Private Bailey West is sitting at the console belonging to one of the US nuclear weapons facilities. As it always does, the responsibility weighs on his mind. He isn't in charge of anything relating to the nukes themselves, but he is one of those in charge of maintaining security at this facility.

His job means making sure that external threats say external and that any threats which do get inside get found out and taken care of. So as he goes about his job as he does every day, Bailey doesn't expect have the interface of the console pop up in front of him. Blinking, Bailey looks away from the console's monitor in an attempt to get rid of the interface, but as he looks in a different direction, the soldier realises that the interface he is seeing isn't coming from the screen.

Hesitating on what to do about this, Bailey gets up from his chair and as he breaks physical contact with the machine, the interface in his vision disappears. Surprised at how the interface disappeared as suddenly as it arrived, Bailey is still for a few seconds before placing his hand back on the console. As he does so, Bailey feels an odd feeling in the back of his mind. Like some kind of switch. Bailey mentally flicks it and as he does so, the visual interface returns. A second flick and the interface is gone.

Bailey leaves the mental switch off for now for as much as he would like to try out this new power that he has, not using the console would draw too much attention to himself. Right now, he doesn't want to reveal his new ability to anyone. He wants to figure out what it is and what it can do first so he doesn't accidentally screw himself over.

"You okay Helen?" asks Eleanor as she glances back at her sister.

"Yeah, just worried," replies her sister as the two of them head to the shops.

"They aren't going to split us up," Eleanor reassures her sister, putting on a confident voice even as she herself has no clue if that is true or not.

"You promise?" asks Helen and Eleanor internally winces.

"Yes," lies Eleanor, knowing that her sister will fall for it.

Just like her sister, Eleanor worries about the same thing. She doesn't want to lose her sister, but worst comes to the worst, it will only be a year until she reaches adulthood herself. Plus Helen and Eleanor have been together for all fourteen years of Helen's life so a year apart won't destroy their sisterly bond.

She would just need to make it through that yet. Finish her education, get a stable job, a place to live and then she could potentially get custody of her sister. Or so she hopes as Eleanor hasn't had the chance to properly research the Canadian foster care system.

But since she and Helen are their last known living relatives unless their long lost father, Eleanor is confident that they will keep her and Helen together.

Or so she hopes.

As for you, there are somethings that you can get up to. You could seek out one of your fellow entities, but you have no clue where to find them on this world beyond using local information networks to identify where their powers are being used, either by themselves or by locals. Otherwise, you might as well be wasting your time while unnecessarily exposing yourself. In general

The other options at this point are to either watch over one of your new hosts or perhaps interact with one using the connect between you via your power. You could just observe their lives to see how they are dealing with their newfound abilities, but it might be worth actually communicating with them. In this, you see communicating with Eleanor in an attempt to give her some guidance as being the most viable option. Kimberly is old enough and experienced to have a firm grounding in life and a path to follow while as a soldier, Bailey has his superiors to guide him. But someone has young as Eleanor, who is barely an adult, needs guidance and having grown up without parents and the last of her oldest relatives now dead, the young woman could do with a mentor to offer her advice and the comfort of having an older and more experienced figure to look up to.

And there is also a more pragmatic matter in plan. As you already noted, unlike Kimberly who doesn't need guidance or Bailey who doesn't lack guidance, Eleanor is open to being guided. If you were to fulfil that role, then you could shape Eleanor to be your champion by making yourself her mentor. While such manipulation irks you, war is war and the fate of this world hangs in the balance. Finding a young mouldable person and making into the icon and upholder of your ideals is an acceptable measure, especially given the sheer diversity that the Adaption power can offer. And it isn't like you don't hold Eleanor's interests at heart. War may be war, but you'll be damned before you compromise who are. What good is victory if it costs you what you are fighting for?

As you are still settling in to this new world and dimension, you are unable to take as much action as you should be able to at your peak. (Pick 1 Action)

Chosen Champion
[X] Interact with one of your power-wielders.
-[X] Eleanor Allen (Recommended by Guardian)

Eleanor Allen is a somewhat unimpressive looking woman. Slim body, long dirty blonde hair and blue eyes, there is nothing that particularly stands out to the normal eye.

But you have no normal eye. You have limited ability to peer into her very soul as you can read her aura. So while to most there might be nothing special about this average girl, you can see the potential heroism in her. The desire to do good, the unwillingly to compromise who she is, the refusal to give up when the going gets tough.

Yet the potential for heroism is just that, untapped potential. While heroism is one path for her, Eleanor could go down others. You have seen it before in others.

At this crucial point in her life, her future path in life will be shaped by whatever happens next. Between the power you have granted her and her natural tendency for good, you feel that stepping in to help decide what path Eleanor will take is the best choice.

It will certainly give you something to do other than sit back and watch your powers be given out.

***

Hello Eleanor, you say in Eleanor's mind via the connection that the two of you share through the power you granted her.

"What the heck was that?" demands Eleanor, sitting upright with a shocked look.

Eleanor is alone right now, living in her grandfather's old house as the local authorities have yet to relocate her and her sister. You picked your timing carefully, choosing to reveal herself to her when she is alone.

I am the Guardian and I wish to advise you on the power that I have granted you, you say.

"What the-wait, what power?" asks Eleanor as she looks around, "Like that flying man in the UK?"

Possibly, you admit, I do not know of this flying man nor this UK that you speak of, but it sounds like it could be the work of one my fellows. Depending on which one it is, it could be very bad.

"Why would it be bad?" inquires Eleanor.

Because the Destroyer seeks to end all life on this world, you explain.

"Okay, that is pretty bad," agrees Eleanor, "So yeah, this guy from Scotland has been flying around. It only started this morning, but it has been all over the news. He hasn't been doing much. Just flying about in an impossible manner and showing off his new ability to flight."

Then it is not the Destroyer, you say, noting that the Curator is active in this UK-Scotland place, He would only attempt to engage in actions which would kill whatever life he comes across. It would be obvious when he takes action

"Oh good, he should be easy to spot," says Eleanor before looking around the room, "So where are you Miss Guardian?"

I am in my personal cyber-dimension, you answer.

"Okay then," answers Eleanor slowly, "So how are you talking to me then?"

Via the connection I have with you through the power that I grant you, you answer.

"That makes sense I guess," says Eleanor thoughtfully, "So this power of mine? What is it exactly? Because I haven't noticed anything different."

It is an Adaption power with a single aspect of Damage Resistance, you tell her, You will gain limited resistance to any damage taken, slowly building it up. Any resistance gained will decay over the course of a week.

"Oh, that-that isn't as impressive as I was hoping," admits Eleanor.

It can increase with time and action
, you reassure her.

"How does it do that?" inquires Eleanor

Using the power will make it grow stronger and then as the one which it originated from, I can choose to either let the power increase its strength or split off the gathered strength to create a new power
.

"So you could just increase my own power so it is bigger and better?" asks Eleanor hopefully.

That is correct.

"Great because I would like it if the resistance didn't go away," says Eleanor, "It would be nice to just build up a resistance to something and then not have to worry about that thing again."

I will take that into consideration.

"Thanks," says Eleanor, "So why are you talking to me? Is this normal for whatever you are or is there something you want out of me?"

I wish to guide you down a path of heroism, you admit.

"Wait a moment, you want me to be a superhero?" asks Eleanor, "So you are going to be the wise, powerful mentor who gives me my powers and teaches me on how to be a hero.

That is one way of looking at things, you agree.

"Sweet," says Eleanor with a grin, "So how do I strengthen my powers Miss Guardian?"

***

The next week is a good one for you. Eleanor takes strongly to your advice in her youthful enthusiasm, doing what it takes to increase her powers despite the potential harm in it for her. While you chalk it up to eagerness born of gaining new powers for the first time and expect it to die down with time, you do decide to curb her reckless should it not naturally die down on its own.

While the Adaption power is good for protection Eleanor, it would be bad for her to get into a habit of deliberately putting herself in harm's way.

Your talks with Eleanor have also given you some information on this world. The Canucks are actually Canadians from the nation of Canada and the Yanks are Americans from the United States of America despite only covering a portion of one of the American continents. Both nations are former colonies of Britain, also known as the United Kingdom or just UK, which includes Scotland as part of it, but now the United States of America is the local superpower on this world.

You have also gained insight into Eleanor herself and the girl's situation. Firstly, she isn't an adult by the standards of her people despite being of physical and sexual maturity and requires another year before she will be considered of age.

Secondly, her current fear is that she and her sister will be split up by the local government. While there is little you can do right now to help her, it may be possible for her to leverage the powers you granted her to get some sway over her government. But that is in Eleanor's hands and beyond giving her advice, that is nothing more you can do right now beyond increase Eleanor's power like the girl has requested.

Speaking of which, Eleanor's dutiful following of your instructions has allowed her level up the Adaption power twice.

Your other two powers have also level up, but unlike the Adaption power, the Healer power and the Technology power have only levelled up once.

The appearance of superhumans have also become known even if only half of them at most have revealed themselves. While the Scottish man with the Curator's Movement power revealed himself almost instantly, only two others have let themselves become known.

The second is Kimberly Case, whose Healing power became known the same day that you revealed yourself to Eleanor. To your annoyance, she got imprisoned by the United States government. While having one of your power-wielders get imprison is a bad thing, fortunately Kimberly has been allowed to continue healing as part of testing by the United States government.

The third known superhuman is another of the Curator's. A woman from the land of Wales, also part of the United Kingdom like Scotland. She has the Curator's Creation power, able to forge hand-held tools made from hard-light.

Like you, your fellow entities have kept themselves hidden and the wielder of the Curator's last power has kept hidden while Eleanor and Bailey West have both kept their powers hidden. As for the Destroyer and any which wield his power, there is no sign of them that either you or Eleanor are aware of.

It is possible that the Destroyer simply died upon arrival, but you doubt that you are so lucky and it is a far more likely possibility that information on what he is up to is currently beyond your ability to acquire.

Now you just need to decide how your power will increase.
