OOC - EMERGENCY CODE: CURBSTOMP
The lobby of the ARKS ship Ur was bustling with activity. Groups of eccentrically-dressed operatives sporting a variety of heavy weaponry were milling about. Some were leaving by Campship to their own missions, other were chatting up the desk attendants to pick up the latest news, quests, and missions.
There were even some people dancing. And a couple of operatives twitching on the floor for some unfathomable reason.
One man had squeezed himself into a giant Rappy costume, and chirped intermittently.

Everyone gave him a wide berth.

Then the normally clear ceiling dome flashed red, segmenting into many crimson tiles, displaying the same word.

"Emergency"

A klaxon briefly sounded before the lighting dimmed, and everyone instantly knew what was going on.

An Emergency Quest. ARKS was needed.
The question was, though, where?

It would be a good several minutes before the Campships would begin to depart. Plenty of time for the members of ARKS to party up and prepare for the inevitable fight.

Wisteria exits the Makeover Salon, tying a light blue bandanna on her head like a headband, knotting it with a bow. She adjusts her glasses and runs a hand through her silky tresses, delighting in how soft and smooth her hair feels. A little vain, perhaps, but she feels like she's earned the right to be a little vain. The Thousand Rim costume is still her favorite form of attire, combining combat readiness with sexiness, but sometimes a girl just wants to indulge her inner fashionista and let her hair down.

She smoothly and briskly walks toward the mission counter, her twin machineguns bouncing with each step, like a fast attack boat cutting through the waves, her red thigh high platform boots purposefully striking the floor with each step.

Anastasia was already at the lobby when the alarms started to blare and the monitor switched from their usual assortment of commercials to their signature 'Emergency' screen. Decked out in her trademark Ursula Repca Snow, Anastasia briefly adjusted her corset by the edge before letting out a breath. She could see the throngs of ARKS members before her, many pacing around aimlessly or fidgeting like a nervous wreck. To the seasoned veteran, Emergency Quests were nothing new or something to fret about. Some would say that she's arrogant for making such statements, but few would argue against her experience, having participated in the battles against the three Dark Falzes and even Profound Darkness itself.

Still, she had an odd gut feeling about this one. Ever since an entire alternate dimension was discovered and their universe being a fictional game in that no less, she had a feeling that things were about to become rather strange from now on.

Anastasia shrugged, hefting the katana on her back before joining the crowd before her. No use fretting about it. For now, she's an ARKS Braver, and ARKS always does their job, be it good or bad.

In the gate room, one of the elevators open and more ARKS members joined the others. Among them Blue, a CAST, headed for the terminal. A little Rappy lazily flew around above his head before landing and falling asleep. He opened the storage terminal and made sure he had the usual supplies for EQ. Mates, Atomizers, ammo and grenades were all there. Turned over to the visphone when an message alert pinged. A message from Railguns.

'Looks like you're free for this one, Blue. Rest of us already got assigned groups. No free spots left. Good luck and try not to get sent back to maintenance for the third time this week. With love, Railguns.'

Oh boy, this was gonna be fun, he thought. Moments like this usually ended with him nearly losing an arm. Quickly, he finished up the last of the EQ preparations ending with inspection of his weapons. He had just acquired the miniature versions of the AIS Rifle and Launcher plus the gunblade, Mercenary Schwarz. No time like this one to test new weapons. Once that was done, it was time to find a team to join before the EQ starts.

Mareia adjusted her headset as she stood behind the Quest Counter, fidgeting nervously. She was still new at this... she hoped she didn't screw this up!

"A-Attention all ARKS members!" she started, stuttering at first. Crap, "The Emergency Quest will begin in ten minutes! Please begin forming parties and ready for the mission briefing!"

Blue wandered around the room searching for any potential spots he could fill in an existing party. Luck was not shining on him today as he was told the spot was filled by all he asked. Seemed like any organized party wasn't possible today. He could always join on mid-EQ though the chance for a sub optimal lineup could be big. There were still ARKS that didn't have a party in the room. Most looked like they wanted to do the EQ alone. Asking out of the blue for a party was pretty rude. A couple Hunters, Bravers, Forces and a Techer were near the counter waiting. Sudden chirping from the Rappy on his head distracted him.

"What do think little buddy? Who would we party with this time." He asked the yellow bird.

The Rappy pointed his wings at the ARKS near the counter.

"You do know that doesn't help me decide right." He said back at the bird.

Only to be met by the Rappy hovering in front of the CAST and chirping rather angrily at him.

"Alright, alright. I'll use a party marker next to the counters then. Stop making a scene. Sheesh, just wanted help in deciding."

Satisfied the rappy settled back on the CAST's head as he walked towards the mission counters. With a wave of his hand, a digital keyboard appeared and Blue started typing.

'CAST Ranger. Looking for a Party.'

It was short but should be enough for any interested people to approach him. Blue pressed confirm and hope anyone would see it.

Anastasia was already at the meeting point before the nervous wreck of a attendant stuttered out her announcement. The one-eyed bandit snorted. Any self-respecting veteran would have made preparations beforehand and not subject themselves to the anxiety of last minute measures.

Speaking of preparations, where was everybody?

Wisteria looks around, sees Anastasia, and shrugs, walking to stand behind her. She normally solos, but she's worked with Anastasia before, and it's good to work with someone again.

"Hello, Anastasia," she greets her acquaintance. "Looks like it's you and me again."

Jondum Bau reflected on his long career as a Council SPECTRE. As a representative of both the Salarian Union and the Citadel Council, it was his duty to make sure that these last bits of negotiations were to go smoothly. This civilization, the "Mersi", were quite an interesting people. Made up of bipedal flightless avians, they had emerged from planet-wide strife in a unified state, ready to lay down their arms and join the larger intergalactic community. There was hardly any dissatisfaction among the general populace, and after months of political dealings, the Citadel Council was finally ready to accept the Mersi into their ranks.
A momentous day for the galaxy, to be sure. Any new species was a gift. Well, any reasonable species, anyways. The Yahg were still terrifying.

As Jondum walked past one of the capital building's large panoramic windows, he paused as a deep thump reverberated throughout the building.
Having fought for many years across many battlefronts, the Salarian SPECTRE could recognize that sound anywhere...

"Cannons?" he blinked, turning towards the window. Upon catching the glint of light on metal, he dove to the side. A tank shell plowed through the window and smashed through the wall, exploding somewhere deeper inside the building. Fires and screams echoed down the corridor as debris bounced off of Jondum's Kinetic Barrier.

Drawing his pistol and activating both his Omnitool and HUD, Jondum tracked the trajectory and zoomed in on the source.

A line of tanks rolled through the low-lying mostly-grey concrete city towards the capital building tower, a mob of Mesri following their charge. Police forces ineffecutally tried to stop them, only to be mowed down by the tank's dual axial machine guns.

"Rebels?" Jondum frowned, "Impossible. Such a force would have been noticed."

Then the building behind the apparent rebels all but exploded as a monstrous creature burst through it, spraying concrete and steel all over the street. The debris bounced off of the tanks and killed a few Mesri rebels, but they didn't even turn around to look at the creature that had suddenly appeared.

Jondum was no expert on the subject, but he was very sure that the creature was not native to the planet, or a known species for that fact. He would have heard of such a thing.

Whatever was happening, the Council needed to hear of this.

Bringing up his hotline, he scowled at the error message. Now, of all times? He closed it down and told his ship to broadcast a distress message. Then he brought up camera feeds from across the city as he ran for the stairs.

He had to protect the Mesri Minister. His mission, the successful integration of the Mesri into the Citadel species, could not end like this.

Mareia nervously patched herself into the PA again.

"Attention! Briefing in five minutes! Please finalize your teams before departure!"

The albino nodded at her compatriot. "Good to see you again. Took your time too."

Wisteria laughs. "Well, you know how it goes. You buy so many clothes but don't wear them and then after years of wearing the same clothes and hairstyle you kinds want to try something new, haha, but there's too many choices."

She nods at Anastasia's katana. "I'm running Gunner as my main, but I've got Braver as my sub. If you need help in the short range, I'll whip my katana out and give you a hand." She winks. "If you actually need it."

Anastasia leaned against the wall, snorting as she did so. Taking a good long look at Wisteria, Anastasia winked and made a lopsided smile, "It's fine. I am used to carrying the team anyway."

Wisteria returns Anastasia's smile. "Yes, yes, thank you for all your help and teaching, sempai~"

Looking around, she sees a CAST looking around for a team to party up. She catches Anastasia's attention, pointing at the CAST (@EagleBlue ). "Looks like he needs a team and we need an extra. Want to take a chance on him?"

Anastasia simply gave a non-committal shrug.

"Oi, the CAST over there! Get in here!"

Since I kept putting it off... here, have a really long intro. :D

"MaKinima-senpai! I thought this was supposed to be easy!"

A loud roar echoed through the volcanic caverns of the planet Amaduscia as Io protested, shouldering her bullet bow and racing behind a Cast nearly three times her size. Behind them was a Burn Draal, it's eyes filled with bloodlust and hatred as it chased down its prey, a massive darker seed on its back digging its tendrils into its flesh.

"Bwahahaha!" The cast laughed defiantly, unbothered by the dire situation they were in. "Now this is an adventure!"

"Idiot!" The smaller dewman girl screamed at the top of her lungs. "When you said we were helping Hi-En with a little darker problem, you didn't tell me a Burn Draal was involved!"

"Do you not feel it Io-san!" The cast seemed to be totally ignorant of his partner's distress. "A great battle is upon us! It is what we ARKS live for!"

Plumes of black smoke surrounded them, giving birth the a swarm of Dagans that had begun to converge on their location.

"I'd appreciate it more if I could live to see the next day please!" Io shouted as she pulled her bow and readied it. The arrow shimmered brightly as it was charged with photon energy, then vanished as it was released by its wielder. In an instant, hundreds of thousands of arrows rained upon the cavern, piercing through the thick hides of the insectoid darkers.

"Nonsense little Io-san! As a good friend of Sukuna-hime once told me," MaKinima remarked jovially as the gigantic photon blade of his AIS Saber sliced through a crowd of Dagans ahead. "'Don't sweat the small details!'"

"Ahh mou!!!" Io stopped and stamped on the ground in frustration. "Why are all my senpai a bunch of weirdos!!!"

"Aha! So we are going to face it head on now?" MaKinima remarked. Stopping almost dead on his heels, he reversed direction and began sprinting towards the gigantic dragon. His massive blade was drawn, and hummed softly as its photon blade fluttered to life. "OOOOOORRRRAAAAAAA!!!" He shouted, swinging his blade into the beast's forehead. The blade clashed against the Burn Draal's horn, failing to break it but sending the dragon crashing into the cavern wall with its immense force.

"Io! Now!" He called out to his partner, but she was already two steps ahead. In a flash, two arrows flew like beams of light into the stunned dragon. The first glittered brightly as it embedded itself into the thick hide. The second engulfed the dragon's upper body into a dark vortex of energy as it pierced into its scales. Then the first arrow suddenly exploded in a flash of light as it was triggered by the effects of the second. The dewman girl smirked confidently as she watched the infected dragon roar in pain. However, the moment did not last as the dragon quickly disappeared into the earth.

"Damn it." Io cursed under her breath. "That thing is fast--"

"Io!" MaKinima called out as he jumped to her position. The ground beneath Io's feet rumbled violently, and leaped just in time to avoid the beast bursting forth from the ground with a thunderous roar, it's hide armored in thick golden scales. It swiped its claws at her, attempting to swat the ARKS out of the sky while she was vulnerable. Its attempts were in vain as it struck against the flat of MaKinima's blade. However the impact was enough to send the cast flying into the nearby cavern wall with a violent crash.

"Senpai!" Io called out as her foot lashed out like a blade to strike the muzzle of the dragon to stop its momentum. She launched herself higher into the air as she fired another arrow, this time exploding violently in the dragon's nose and sending it crashing to the ground once more. Her fall now covered, Io hit the ground with a roll and readied another arrow. The Burn Draal would be focused on her now that her partner was out of the picture.

"I'm not done yet!" In that moment, MaKinima burst through the rubble and dashed to the dragon's rear. Raising the sword over his head, a wave of photon energy surged outward from his body. "ANCHOR HOWL!!!" He shouted at the top of his lungs as the wave smashed into dragon. His body glimmered as the resonance from his foe empowered him.

"What's up with the cheesy lines!?" Io commented in a slightly irritated tone, as the Draal turned its attention back to the greatsword-wielding cast.

"Is it not more heroic this way!?" Her partner remarked as he jumped out of the way of a fireball. "A hero should have their own special techniques!"

"I think you've been reading way too much manga!" Io retorted. A swarm of Darkers had now surrounded them, and they both readied their weapons as the Burn Draal roared and filled the cavern with a sea of flames.

---

"Uwaa... This is wonderful!" Franka clasped her hands together in delight as she looked a the gigantic chunks of Burn Draal meat that had been neatly packed into the campship's cargo hold. "I'm sure I'll be able to whip up something good to eat with this. This is even a rare species too, so the meat will have to be good! Thank you so much!!!"

"No problem." Both ARKS said in unison. However, compared to MaKinima's jolly voice prideful expression, Io's deadpan tone and slouched shoulders made it apparent that it had been no easy task. Her clothes were singed and tattered, and her pale skin was covered in ash and soot. Her partner wasn't in any better condition, but casts were built pretty tough.

"Another grand adventure!" MaKinima proclaimed proudly. "I couldn't have done it without your help Io-san!"

"No worries." Her reply was curt, and her tone gave away her exhaustion. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go home and take a bath."

"Very well." MaKinima acknowledged. "Rest is also important for the adventures ahead. I hope I can count on you again."

Io smirked, then bumped his metal torso with her fist. "Of course." She then stretched and started walking towards one of the transporters. "Just so you know, it's not like I'm worried about you or anything Senpai. But who else is gonna go on these suicidal missions with you?" And with that she disappeared behind the transporter doors, leaving MaKinima alone in the lobby.

"Hmm..." MaKinima rubbed the part of his head unit where his chin would have been. "What am I to do now...?" Franka had disappeared with some other ARKS personnel to help transport the Burn Draal meat, which now left him being the only one with nothing left to do.

"Attention! Briefing in five minutes! Please finalize your teams before departure!"

"Eh!?" The cast started looking around. He didn't exactly know what was going on, but usually ship-wide announcements meant that there were emergency quests occurring that required multiple ARKS working together.

In other words, a grand adventure.

"Glorious!" Makinima beamed. He could never pass up the chance for a good adventure, just like the heroes he had read about when he was a child. But he needed to find a group, and it seemed like many ARKS were already in their own groups and discussing battle plans. He scanned the crowd until he saw a small group of people standing off to the side. It seemed to only have two members, with a third--another cast--about to join. From the looks of their weapons they seemed be of the braver, gunner, and ranger classes. He decided that joining them would be a good idea. Unlike most Hunters who specialized in the Fury Stance disciplines, MaKinima had decided to specialize in learning the Guard Stance skills. It was odd of course, but to him he felt the most comfortable. Having been a bodyguard to Sukuna-hime for his entire life, it felt fitting to be the one to protect others.

And so, he walked over to the group.

"Greetings fellow ARKS! Might I join your party?"

I'm not really sure if I got Io's character correct, since I wasn't able to find too much about her online that was translated. So hopefully my interpretation of Io's character is correct.

The tavern waited with baited breath. Patrons leaned forwards, creaking chairs on two legs. Irina vibrated in place with her arms wrapped around the necks of two of her fellow pub-crawlers. She bounced up and down on the balls of her feet as she buried her face in the holovid. The base of a shattered drink was clutched firmly in her hand, sharp glass promptly ignored by the hardy pair of gloves that adorned her hands.

"And it's good!" The announcer shouted with glee. The bar erupted with cheers and boos, whistles and applause from every corner as they all shouted with fervor. Irina and her companions clasped together as they all hopped with glee, joy evident in their shouting.

"Hell yeah!" she screamed. Irina smashed the remnants of her bottle against the table, shattering it as assuredly as her team shattered the dreams of the other. Her personal communicator chimed as she pat her friends on the back.

"Ugh, work. Sorry folks, hey! Go cash our bets in man! Ark stuff, gotta run!"

The boisterous girl dashed out of the bar, chuckling to herself as she heard the shattering of glass and splintering of wood as the routine bar crowd started showing off. The dim lights, and the tone of a klaxon made the Newman shake her head as she readied herself, clearing whatever alcohol might have been affecting her system with a medial tonic she kept just for such an event.

She stamped her left foot, activating her jet boots as she made her way down to the lift, and from there traveled to the hub, floating languidly to the mission counters.

"Yo," she called out to everyone, "anyone looking for one more?" Irina asked, pausing for a moment before adding, "Or any idea what we're up against this time?"

@Kokurokoki @Narcissist

It was at this time that two newcomers have arrived. One of them is a CAST, the other a pink-haired and chocolate-skinned Dewman.

"Welcome aboard. We could always use more people. As for the Emergency, there's still no word about it. Unusual, I know. "
