[X] Izumi had an older brother who was a hardcore LARPer. While she herself thought it was kinda silly, she was quite understanding of her brother's hobbies and figured the sword would make for a great early birthday present for him.

Rise of the larp star.

[X] Maki decided to keep the sword for herself, claiming the finder's keepers to her teammates. It was kinda cool and while not as flashy as her usual explosions, it was loot from a tomb of a dead king and that was what counted.

Hell no, we are not gonna be wielded by a normal person! We're a special sword and that means we need a special wielder! Why pick the MG option if we aren't gonna interact with them directly?

[x] Naomi knew a guy that owned a pawn shop and dealt in ancient artifacts and the likes. She was a bit tight on cash this month so she convinced her friends and teammates to let her have the sword. She promised she would treat her team to ice-cream with the money she got from it.

The only way this could be better is if he's a chuuni.

Well, with the exception of Naomi's pawnshop owner acquaintance, by choosing the other options, you'll be corrupting a family member of one of the magical girls. Can you imagine the horror on the magical girl's face when they discover that their beloved family member has apparently become some kind of evil champion and it's all their fault. Well, it's an option.

Maki is somewhat more susceptible to the influence of the Ebon Lord than the other girls. Still more resistant than a vanilla human but the Ebon Lord's manipulations will just be more subtle.

I can imagine it, and it just isn't as impactful as having someone inside the team itself double cross everyone else. Family being corrupted by the big bad is a Magical Girl cliche used for monsters of the week, while a MG being corrupted is an whole arc setter.

Mundane family is one thing, but tearing the team from the inside and turning them against one another? I find that has much more impact.

This is actually kind of hard. Maki's a pretty solid choice, views magic as a plaything but is fiercely protective of those she loves and willing to go to very great lengths to protect them, but Izumi's a surprisingly decent second choice. Granted corrupting her would most likely involve a Break the Cutie arc just due to how strongly her archetype believes in the good in others (usually), but I could see it working with varying degrees of success and difficulty depending on how far she is along that archetype.

Maki would put it to good use I'm sure

I'll be super disappointed if the LARPer option win. Legendary sword picked up by some random guy who got lucky is already way overdone. Why did we take the MG vote earlier if we are going to drop the idea so soon?

I don't want the LARPer to win.
