A dream of cards

Blackangel

Preacher of the dice gods
You have been brought to a game world inside a dream through unknown means by an unknown entity. This game is a world of cards, within these cards are monsters and magic.

You will arrive into this dream world every time you sleep and stay here for about 6 hours. Your only goal, that was given to you by a screen, was to have fun and do what you want.

Choose your starting deck(Just choose which one you like best. Everyone will have a similar power level deck wise.):

[]The magical musketeers:
The magical musketeers are a legendary organization that has combined the musket with magical prowess making a devastating combination. They are known as the protectors of the weak for when they fight they do so to protect those behind them.
A deck focused around their main monster cards, that all have the word musketeer in their name. The musketeers archetype is focused on once per turn effects and cards that activate their effects once a once per turn effect is activated.
Example cards:

3 stars

Warrior

Effect: Once per turn, for every musketeer card in the graveyard, gain 100 attack and defense. When sent to the graveyard, target 1 card on the field, destroy that card.

Mouse musketeer: A mouse that has taken up arms to follow the magical musketeers! What they lack in strength they make up for in numbers.

Effect: When a once per turn effect is activated, put a counter on this card. For every counter on this card enemy monsters lose 100 attack and defense.

[]Steampunk Mecha: On a world made of junk there exists these beasts of metal, the steampunk Mecha that fight for those they find worthy. Recent advancements have led to these beasts becoming mass producible.
They are known for their expensive summoning conditions and have trouble staying on the field for too long, however with support cards they have shown to have great capability in a variety of playstyles.
Example cards:
Mecha spid E-07:
A huge mecha spider that is quite capable of ambush despite its huge size. It is known to catch its opponents off guard before trapping them for other mecha's to finish.
3 stars
Type: Machine Beast

700
Defense: 1500
Effect: When flipped over, draw 1 card with 'Mecha' in it.

Mecha repair crew D-01: A large number of people from all over the junk world are proficient in mecha repair. They have all replaced at least one limb with machinery to better complete this task.
1 stars
Type: Machine

Defense: 0
Effect: Can tribute this card and discard one card to special summon a 5 star 'mecha' from the hand or graveyard.

Mecha dixie B-02: A humanoid mecha with artillery pieces on its shoulders with tank treads in place of its legs. This mecha is known for its firepower despite its relatively cheap cost.
5 stars

[]Statues of Time: These statues are all gathered in a place where time does not crawl, a great hall that never seems to end. It is unknown who first found them or made them, but they will always be there, till the end of time.
The statues of time are focused on banishing effects and cards that have bonus effects related to how many cards are banished.
Example cards:
Statue of the forgotten:
A statue dedicated to the forgotten, for every time someone forgets, it grows in power.

The castaway of time: An old man of unknown origin, that walks the endless halls of time. It is unknown how long or why he's there.
2 stars
Type: Spellcaster

[]Write in?(Give a brief overview of what the deck is about, then create an example card so I know exactly what you're going for. No need to make a whole deck.)

What's your name? Choose 1:

[]Write in?

Gender? Choose 1:

[]Man

[]Woman

Age? Choose 1:

[]18

[]Write in?(Nothing below 18, nothing above 70.)

Finally, there was the place you were spawned in. There's apparently a ton of these places all over the dream world, yet you were brought here specifically.

Choose 1(Your starting town. No matter what you pick, you will have cards you can get for your deck.):

[]Town of Camelot:
A town that is the descendents of the legendary King Arthur, which has plenty of cards and quests related to Warriors, specifically of the knight variety. Despite this focus, almost every type of card can be found here, just in lesser amounts.

[]Junktown: A town that is literally made out of junk and random gears, having plenty of cards and quests related to machines, specifically of the broken/rusty variety. Despite this focus, most types of cards can be found here, just in lesser amounts.

[]Rockefeller: A town that born out of the desire to study of rocks, minerals, and magic, has plenty of cards and quests related to rocks and Spellcasters, specifically of the geomancer variety. Despite this focus, most types of cards can be found here, just in lesser amounts.

[]Write in?(Like above)

So for rules of the game, just think yugioh rules. There might be some changes, like the out of play zone being called the banishment zone, or the fact that the types of monsters having more than 1 type(Machine beast) but for the most part this works like yugioh.

So what this is at its most basic form is basically yugioh but you also fight spirits not just other duelists. There are spirits just walking around and if you complete some quests, you can gain them as a card, or at least some version of them. This is a constantly evolving world, some cards can be buffed, nerfed, or even banned.

Day 1: I dream of Statues
??? POV:

Dustin Stone, a man chosen by the statues of time. They did this despite the fact they were exempt from becoming a starting deck. They gave him some good pieces too, some heavy hitters.

It's kinda ironic that his name is literally 'Dustin Stone' I mean who names their kid that? Is there some history in the name? It's not my business either way, my only job is to give them the basic rundown and then we go out separate ways.

Dustin Stone POV:

Well this is intriguing, I went to sleep, than appeared in a white room with a humanoid entity that was completely black in color, sitting at a desk. It asked me some questions, which I answered truthfully due to the fact I don't see any reason to lie about such basic questions.

Turns out this is all a game, which I will wake up from and return to whenever I sleep. I'm pretty sure none of my dreams were this in-depth with spoken information, so this is definitely real. Also the fact I can think and talk lets me know this isn't a dream.

Once I was all done answering every small detail about myself, the entity gave me a deck before saying 'Have fun!' And now I'm here in some town made out of junk. Just wonderful, an entire city made out of junk and scrap.

You have 2 actions!(Can choose 1 option multiple times):

[]A dueling arena?:
There's a crowd at something called a dueling arena, which is where people will duel each other. With cards… at least this is interesting. There's apparently a first day bonus rewards for winning, so I suppose that's something to do. Choose 1 below to duel.
-[]Junk raiders?:
I'm looking around and people are having the courtesy to tell others the name of their deck before dueling, or at least the people offering to fight are. This one is a man that's about 5'8 with dirty brown hair, with a deck called Junk raiders.
-[]Rusted clockwork?: This ones a woman about 5'11, with white hair. She doesn't look to be older than 25, but who knows.
-[]Cyber samurai?: An older Asian man, probably 50 years old or more, about 6 feet tall. He actually stated what his deck is about, the cyber samurai deck is about discarding spell/trap cards that when discarded activate an effect.
-[]Offer your own challenge?:
Their doing it, might as well do it myself. Random challenger.

[]Talk to the local spirits?:
There's monsters living in this town, which would normally frighten me but at this point I could care less. Talk to someone random? Possible quest/duel.

[]Card market?:
There's apparently a card market, which while the players have just gotten here, there still seems to be some cards on sale. Recommend having some money units first.

[]Explore?:
Instead of just being inside the town, how about I go out of the town, look around and possibly duel something? Or find treasure who knows. Possible treasure/duel.

[]Talk to my deck?:
I feel the cards calling out to me, maybe I should say something? Seems like a good idea. ???

Gonna go ahead and skip a tutorial, as I'm pretty sure most of us know how to play yugioh. If not you can learn on the way.

Just so you know dueling on day 1 will automatically give money units on victory. Have fun with that.

Use plans!

Battle against Clocker: Turn 1
Dustin Stone POV:

Let's see, I should probably partake in the first day rewards, seems like they will either reduce it by tomorrow or might even disappear. Who knows.

The question is who do I duel? There's plenty of people here, some are trying to see which ones they can win easily against, while others are just trying to duel in general. There's about 3 of them that I find interesting, at least the names sound intriguing.

First is Junk raiders, which if I'm being honest I'm skipping just because of the crowd around the young man, plenty of people seem to want to duel him.

Second would be Rusted Clockwork, which belongs to a woman in her mid twenties, or I think she's in her mid twenties, she has white hair so it's hard to tell.

Third would be the Cyber Samurai, which the old man who was offering those around him to duel was even telling them what the deck was about. Something about discarding spells and traps, which while interesting, I'm kinda interested in what a 'Rusted Clockwork' deck would even be.

So I simply walk towards her ready to offer her a duel, she spots me first and smiles-

"You want to duel?"

"Sure, my names-
Whispers call yourself Stone, and nothing else
Stone." Did my deck just talk to me?

She didn't seem to notice the pause "Stone? I suppose we shouldn't give our real names anyway. Names… Clocker? Good enough." She shrugs her shoulders before pointing at a nearby dueling arena. "Let's do this!"

I simply nodded walking towards it, having an internal panic about whatever whispered to me.

I felt as if-

Choose 1:

[]I had already won everything(Statue of celebration, first partner.)

[]I had been alone forever, yet only a moment had passed(The castaway of time, first partner.)

[]I had made mistakes I would never make again(Statue of honor, first partner.)

I now stood at the opposite end of the arena, instinctively I knew how to set the cards and start the game. Than an explosive voice called out-

"THE STARTING TURN SHALL BE DECIDED BY COIN FLIP! PLAYER STONE IS HEADS, PLAYER CLOCKER IS TAILS!"

A magical looking coin appeared and was than flipped by a cartoon looking white glove. I suppose we don't get to choose whether or not we go first or not, all random chance. Good to know.

Flipping… Heads!

"PLAYER STONE GOES FIRST! DRAW 5 THAN START!"

Drawing 5 I look at my hand-

x1 Statue of celebration, x1 Statue of games, x1 Statue of current, and x2 Broken statue.

Your life points: 4000
Clocker life points: 4000

What's my game plan?

[]Big start:
Play Statue of games, discard Statue of celebration then banish 1 of the broken statues, add Statue of battle to hand. Activate the Statue of celebration effect, banishing it and then summon another Statue of celebration from the deck in defense position. Tribute the Statue of celebration to summon the Statue of battle, then activating its effect immediately. Finally place a Broken statue card for defense. The Statue of battle will activate its effect immediately on the opponent's turn.

[]Write in?(Describe the order and intent of your plan.)

This hand would have been great for a turn 2 start, but we are not that lucky.

Have fun now!

Dustin Stone POV:

We shall talk later, young one.

I felt eternity pass by before realizing it was only a moment, like I had forgotten everything about waiting. That's terrifying. Oh right I'm in a duel right now.

Looking at my hand, I see a combo I could use to get something big on the field, while also leaving some defense for me. Let's do it.

"I activate Statue of games-

Statue of games: A statue resembling two people playing a board game. It sits in contemplation of its next move.
Type: Spell
Effect: Discard 1 card and banish 1 card from you hand, add 1 'Statue' card to your hand.

-I'll discard statue of celebration and banish broken statue from my hand, adding statue of battle to my hand!"

Statue of celebration: A statue in the shape of a hand holding a wine cup, that is dedicated to anyone that celebrates their lives. May you live on.
2 stars
Type: Rock
Attack: 0
Defense: 1000
Effect: Can banish this card from the graveyard, special summon 1 'Statue of celebration' from your hand or deck in defense position. Can only use this effect once per duel.

Broken statue: A statue that has somehow been broken throughout time.
Type: Trap
Effect: When your opponent activates a monster effect, send 2 cards from either players banishment zone to the graveyard, negate that effect.

Statue of battle: A statue designed for battle, resembling a man with spear in hand. May its enemies run for the hills.
6 stars
Type: Rock Warrior
Attack: 2400
Defense: 1200
Effect: Once per turn, during either players turn, banish the top card of each players deck, if both cards are monsters, this card cannot be destroyed by battle for this turn.

My opponent seems to grimace slightly at this. Good.

"I activate statue of celebration's effect, summoning another one from my deck in defense position. Than I will use it as tribute to summon my statue of battle! Which I will use it's effect immediately banishing the top card from both of our decks!"

Hopefully it will be one of my worst cards.

Statue of current: A statue representing the river that is known as time. May it go forth uninterrupted.
3 stars
Type: Rock
Attack: 1600
Defense: 800
Effect: When 3+ cards have been banished, this card is unaffected by monster effects. When 9+ cards have been banished, this card cannot be targeted by spell or trap cards.

Assaulting Blimp: A blimp designed to bomb areas full of heavy defenses.
4 stars
Type: Machine
Attack: 1300
Defense: 1500
Effect: Unaffected by trap card effects.

Ok, not the best. I'm pretty sure that's one of the worst cards in her deck.

"I shall than set a card and end my turn. Your go."

My opponent seems to chipper up a bit, before drawing, starting her turn.

"Ok than, I was getting scare-"

"I activate my statue of battles effect, we both banish a card from the top of our decks."

She seems to glance at the statue of battle before widening her eyes a bit "Oh that is much worse for me than I thought. Nice."

Statue of honor: A statue resembling a man kneeling before another man, both with weapons in hand. An honorable death.
4 stars
Type: Rock Warrior
Attack: 1700
Defense: 900
Effect: When 2+ cards are banished, gain 200 attack and defense. When 5+ cards are banished, this card cannot be targeted by monster effects. When 10+ cards are banished, instead of sending this card to the graveyard, you can add it to your hand.

Clockwork Sniper: A sniper wielding soldier made entirely out of clockwork, killing foes with great accuracy.
4 stars
Type: Machine Warrior
Attack: 1000
Defense: 1000
Effect: Can place this card as a trap card, can activate it on your opponents turn to special summon this card into the battlefield, then target 1 spell/trap card on the field, destroy it.

I almost groaned at that, unlike my other cards, I only have 1 of those in my deck.

Such is the way of time, at least judging from your opponent's face, she only had 1 of those too.

Ok that's really weird, am I gonna have to experience that every time he talks to me?

You'll get used to it… hopefully.

Ok than, what will she do, as my statue of battle can't be destroyed by battle now.

"I play radio station from my hand, before activating Grandfather clock from my hand, revealing it and Rusted Clockwork general, thus sending 1 grandfather clock from my deck to the graveyard and drawing a card."

Radio station: A radio station that calls in for reinforcements more and more desperately.
Type: Continuous Spell
Effect: When an ally monster is destroyed, put 1 counter on this card(Max 4). Can destroy this card and special summon 1 monster with that many stars from your deck.

Grandfather clock: An old clock that tells time.
1 stars
Type: Machine
Attack: 0
Defense: 0
Effect: Once per turn, reveal this card and 1 other card in your hand, send 1 'Grandfather clock' from your hand or deck to the graveyard, draw 1 card.

Rusted Clockwork general: A general made out of rusted clockwork, still commanding his troops even now.
6 stars
Type: Machine Warrior
Attack: 2000
Defense: 1600
Effect: When tribute summoned, special summon 1 'Clockwork' monster from your graveyard in attack or defense position. Gains 200 attack for each machine on your side of the field.

Ok that's interesting, she's setting up plays for the future and stocking up on cards. She still needs to kill of my statue of battle or she's still in trouble. She smiles at her hand before looking up at me.

"I than play Rusted Clockwork Soldier in attack position, than I'll use his effect to discard 1 card, my Rusted Clockwork spider!"

Rusted Clockwork soldier: A soldier made out of rusted clockwork, holding a rifle. At a moments notice even now, it can lay supporting fire.
4 stars
Type: Machine Warrior
Attack: 1700
Defense: 1200
Effect: Once per turn, discard 1 card, reduce the attack and defense of all opponents monsters by 300.

Rusted Clockwork spider: A clockwork spider covered in rust that seems ready to burst at a moments notice.
3 stars
Type: Machine Beast
Attack: 1400
Defense: 1200
Effect: When this card is destroyed by battle or discarded, can discard 1 card, than target 1 card on the field, destroy that card.

Oh, wait, since the cost is discarding I can't stop the cost from being played for the clockwork soldier, so it's already discarded, so instead of stopping that effect, I should just stop the spiders effect.

"I than discard Clockwork mine layer to activate my Rusted Clockwork spider-"

"I'll activate my trap card broken statue, I'll send Assaulting Blimp and Clockwork sniper from your banishment zone, both to the graveyard, negating Rusted Clockwork spiders effect."

Clockwork mine layer: A vehicule made entirely out of clockwork that puts down mines as it goes.
1 stars
Type: Machine
Attack: 500
Defense: 0
Effect: When flipped, discard 1 card, place 1 trap card from your deck onto the field or add it to your hand.

Broken statue: A statue that has somehow been broken throughout time.
Type: Trap
Effect: When your opponent activates a monster effect, send 2 cards from either players banishment zone to the graveyard, negate that effect.

She immediately sags a bit, before looking at her hand again. My Statue of battle is now at 2100 attack and 900 defense, so unless she can boost her cards attack, I'm pretty sure I win from here.

"Ok than I end my turn. Your go."

Draw:
Statue of love:
A statue of a heart with an arrow piercing it.
4 stars
