Congratulations, you intimidated a lizard- Eddard Stark, to Leo Mineshadow
Eddard Stark hadn't felt like this since Robert had taken him drinking to celebrate his betrothal to Lyanna. The leaves crumpled as he rolled over trying to get the sun out of his face.
Leaves?
His eyes shot open and he bolted up, this wasn't his room in Winterfell!
Instead of his room in the great fortress he was lying in a forest. A calm temperate one that could be found it the south rather than the frosted ones of north.
A quick panicked search found Ice resting against a tree but nothing else. Not Catalyn, not Ser Rodrik no one or thing to show how or why he just awoke in the middle of a forest dressed for battle or how he had even gotten to a forest south of the Neck.
Taking a deep breath Eddard calmed himself only for panic to set in again as the sound of rustling leaves and bushes rang out behind him. Swiftly drawing Ice he readied for what might appear.
But nothing prepared him for what came rushing out of the foliage.
Two creatures, The first was a huge green man with tusks coming out of his lower mouth. He was wearing hide's and bits of beaten metal but most of him was left exposed. The thing was wielding a huge stone axe and was breathing heavily.
The second was even more terrifying. A massive dog like beast standing on its hind legs with tan fur. This one was far better equipped with a steel breastplate over some kind of scale armor and a single edged sword in its claw like hand, unlike its companion it barely seemed winded at all.
Seconds passed as the three stared at each other. Eddard with his greatsword ready and the Green thing fingering it primitive stone axe while the dog beast seemed to study him. The stalemate ended when the Dogs ears flicked, it spun around and just barely deflected a barbed arrow loosed at its neck.
This seemed to be a sign as out of the woods from behind the creatures as well as to Eddards sides a band of ten more things charged out. These ones were far more human like with no fangs claws or tusks but there skin was wrong. It was a strange hazy purple and there ears were long and pointed.
there was such hate, such malice in their eyes, more than Eddard had ever seen in his life.
three came at him, the first was easy as it charged from behind without a shield. a quick upward swing cleaved thou its leather armor spraying strange black blood onto him. Spinning around in time to parry a thrust from the second ones short sword only for the third to bring its sword down on his shoulder.
Letting out a grunt of pain Eddard slammed his pommel in to the seconds face. As the second creature stumbled back he made stab at the third only for it to swiftly dodge to the side.Still giving Eddard enough time to check his arm. Sure enough his chain had not been broken thou the force of the blow had still hurt.
Seeing a opportunity Eddard Charged the One still recovering from the pommel strike, as he slammed the creature in to a tree he could only stare in shock as he heard the sounds of shattering bones from the creature
this beings are far more fragile than I thought, if there bone's break so easily why would they bother with a melee?
His contemplation was cut short with a stabbing pain in his side, grunting as he shoved the attacker off he gave a winch as the blade was yanked out.
glaring at the opponent he temporarily forgot about. The beast was giving a cruel smirk and staring with expectation.
I did not survive the rebellion to die now!
With a roar he charged the monster, a part of him was pleased to see its grin turn to horror as he cleaved its head from its shoulders.
glancing around he saw the green one had killed two of his own and was finishing a third while the dog man had downed two. Out of the corner of his eye Eddard saw the two remaining beast's flee
Craven beast's, they attack without warning and even when outnumbering their enemies they flee when victory is not assured.
"Torr paladin! Lay on hands!"
what?!
Eddard Spune around, coming face to face with the green man who was holding out a clear glass vile filled with some blue liquid.
How did something this big and loud sneak up on me?! And what is a Torr paladin?
Hesitantly Eddard took the vile but made no move to drink it.
"What? You no want Lay on hands?" The, Torr paladin asked
"I... don't know what that means."
Eddars cast a quick glace over...Torr's shoulders trying to keep the dog man in his sight. Thankfully it seemed more interested in looting the dead than him.
"oh no worry humi Torr show you!"
Torr took out another clear glass vile filled with more of the blue liquid and downed it all. Eddard watched with both fascination and horror has dozens of tiny tentacles emerged from around his wounds and knitted themselves together closing them.
"See? No problems. Now you."
"… N-no thank you." Eddard handed back the vile to Torr who just shrugged and drank it
" What? But you were fine." Perhaps they are addictive?
Torr actually looked uncomfortable with the question looking down at the ground as it answered
"one stabbed me in my bumbum."
Eddard couldn't help himself, he laughed.
"no laugh at Torr, is serious!"
Eddard's laughter was joined by the dog mans as it finished binding the looted weapons together
"No laugh at Torr! he paladin, he smite you!"
Regardless of the threat made Torr followed behind the dog man. And given the choice of following the two or braving the strange monster filled forest alone Eddards choice was quite clear.
With a small smile he began to make his way through the forest with the two.
