As the morning sun pierced the bamboo forests of Mount Paozu, the sage Son Gohan walked the mountain paths of his home. The sounds of birdsong and running rivers surround him as he serenely strolls up the hills. But as he approaches his destination, a new sound overtakes the ambiance - crying. He heard the sound of something falling from the sky the night before. And now, he finds a crater and a baby. "Well, you don't look quite big enough to make a hole this big!" Gohan slides down the hole, and picks up the infant. "I can't just leave you out here, now can I?"
And so, Grandpa Gohan adopted a healthy baby...
[] Boy
[] Girl
Once they were home, Grandpa Gohan raised the child as his own. Well, tried to, at any rate.
"It's just pudding! You have to eat it if you want to live here, little one!" Unfortunately, Gohan was great martial artist, and not a baby whisperer. The child screams, and throws the bowl of food straight over Gohan's head, denting the wall of the small home. The old man sighs. "Hm. If you're going to live here, you'll need to learn some manners... You'll also need a name. How about..."
[] Goku, after the Monkey King of legend. It feels... fitting, somehow. Maybe its the tail.
[] Sora, after the sky the child seemingly fell from.
[] Pao, after the mountain you call home.
[] Kora, after a turtle shell. You hope this kid likes martial arts...
[] Gohan Jr. It isn't humble, but hey, it's nice to have a legacy!

For a while, things were difficult for the two. The child was wild, unmanageable. A savage beast who could not be contained, save for Gohan's own skill. That was, until the accident.
It was just another walk through the mountains when the baby, distracted by a passing bird, reached out, and fell from Gohan's basket. They fell over a hundred feet down a ravine, landing square on their head. And yet, there was no harm. Except, the child's mind had changed. Gone was the mindless rage. And in its place...

I've been wanting to try and make a story on SV for a while now. I've previously run on Fiction.live, but that site has an expectation that you will set up sessions where you write several updates and have votes come in within short periods. Its a live event, and I've found it to be a little exhaustive. So I think a forum like SV will be something much more my pace!
And for my first quest, I figured I'd start with something I know and love: Dragon Ball! I always enjoy the simple premise of taking a story and letting player decision and dice affect the narrative. So for this, you will be controlling our version of Goku. We'll get the chance to change him up a bit before we start - his origin is kind of set in stone of course, but I like letting players make their own version of the character. His name, gender, relationships and personality are up to you - I'm excited to see how it goes!
Now, I'd call myself a rookie as far as questing goes, even with my history on F.L, and especially with this website. I'll probably make some formatting errors or the like, so I apologize in advance for my lack of experience. I will definitely make spelling errors, so feel free to point those out!
As for mechanics, we'll be using a classic d100 system. You make the choices, and when there's a chance of failure I'll roll a d100 against a DC. 100s and 1s are critical successes and failures respectively, and the DC is dependent on the situation & the protagonists abilities.
Now, with that all said, I'll reserve a few more posts and You can all begin posting yourselves!

It's gotta be Goku, imo, because I know if we pick literally any other name I'll probably still not be able to stop myself from calling them Goku lol. Unsure on the drive, I think
Either 2 or four would be fine but I don't have strong feelings between them.

The name is too iconic and too good, to pick anything but that; is not an option.

You pick up the lumber, hefting it with both arms. "One and two and..." You squat slightly before hurling the log into the air. Leaping after it, you dice it into chunks with a single kick.
And with that, the firewood has been chopped! You collect the lumber and stack it neatly, ready to use later. Now, what's next on the to-do list?
GRUMBLE...
Well, according to your stomach, next is lunch. Mount Pauzo has plenty of game for you to hunt. You had Bear yesterday, so you immediately cross that off the list. Maybe tiger hunting is in order? They aren't very common, but the search is half the fun of eating them! Or you could go fishing, that's a reliable way to go... albeit a time consuming path. As you think, a bird's shadow crosses your path. Hm, it would be challenging to catch something that flies... but there are some eagle and pterodactyl nests higher up the mountain.
