Far away in the Other World there lived Great King Enma and his legions of Oni who oversaw the souls of the damned in Hell and the cycle of reincarnation. Amongst the always busy Oni of Hell there lived a baby girl. A tiny, tiny Oni girl of insatiable curiosity and hunger who was always getting into trouble or causing a ruckus somewhere.

This tiny Oni was about to embark on an amazing adventure due to a happy accident.

The Oni girl giggled as she snatched a cream puff the size of her head off of one of the many snack stands littered around the amusement park of Hell.

"Hey you! Give that back troublemaker!" She giggled and ran faster as the large red oni behind the stall yelled at her and leapt out after the thief. Monch! The cream puff disappeared in one gulp. Looking back she pulled down an eyelid and stuck out her tongue, her tank-top proudly proclaiming "HELL" tucked into her gi pants.

Bleeeeeehhhhhhhhh!

"Laaaaaaater Mister!" She said in a chime like voice as she leapt to the roof of the next stall and bounced like a giant cricket along the stalls and games and through the crowds of meanie sinner souls. As she ran away from a growing crowd of angry Oni, the King of Oni-kind, Great King Enma was staring at his inbox of paperwork in contentment.

Sigh.

He was happy! Things were going so smoothly! His tree trunk sized pencil danced across the pages of his notebook as he processed the souls who came before him. This one went to Hell for theft, this one went onwards for being kind. It was all correct and proper. There hadn't even been any liars today!

So far.

Putting that concern aside Great King Enma was happy.

Until his giant ears caught a very, very distant commotion.

"...stop thief!"

"Hmm?" He rumbled in confusion. His pencil slipped on the piece of paper on his desk as he looked up and looked around, not understanding what he had heard because it was so quiet. Shrugging as one of his minions took the missive he had accidentally signed, he looked back to his work and paled.

"Oops." His rumble sent the Oni attendants to frantically asking what was wrong as a very particular order went through to a very particular place in Hell.

Far away from Great King Enma's office and giant desk, the chase was on as an absurd army of Oni chased a leaning tower of food. At the bottom of that large tower of food which was at least six times her height, was the one foot tall baby Oni.

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! Get her!" Shouted the army behind her as she alternated between laughing and monching through her tower of stolen treats.

Now most Oni were many times faster than a man but the girl was smart. She leapt and dove and ducked and hid from the rampaging army. Her small size meant she was almost impossible to catch for the massive Oni, like a leaping flee or rat. To her it was all a game, which she had been playing for years and years. She knew all the best places to hide.

Like this one in a stack of barrels with a hollow middle under one of the millions of knife trees throughout Hell. Giggling with hands over her mouth she quickly scarfed down the stack of ill gotten goods she'd taken fair and square, in her mind at least, her red eyes alight with delight. The tower disappeared in whole chunks, first one third. Then the next. Then the last. Snickering she patted her white hair and peeked out of the hole in the top, her two red horns preceding her. The army was down in the forest turning over every rock and leaf looking for her.

"Heh, suckerrrrrrrsss." She cackled and hopped out of her hidey hole. A shadow loomed over her, completely swallowing her in shade.

"Who's a sucker?" Asked a deep masculine voice. She paled, a strained smile leaking onto her face as she turned creakily to look over her shoulder. A large Oni was looming over her, a grin showing his many sharp teeth.

"H-hi? I'll uh… bye!" She shrieked in mounting panic as the Oni snatched at the little troublemaker. Muscles snapping to attention she leapt off of his outstretched fingers on instinct. Bouncing away into the trees!

She hopped away, laughing again as she dodged the knives making up the leaves of the trees.

"I found Suzy! She's over here!" The cry rose up behind her as the angry Oni roared after her.

Suzy however was already out of sight through the trees, all of her considerable childish energy devoted to speed. Through the forest she went, towards a far away mountain with an ominously smoking top under the yellow clouds and red sky.

Beneath that mountain many Oni workers began to work levers and turn massive steel gears. In a cavern deep in the root of the mountain, at the bottom of an open shaft ringed with great braziers of boiling and smoking blood which went all the way to the top, there was a pit covered in a great golden plate. Suspended by chains the Oni slowly heaved it aside to reveal a gigantic bottomless pit from which bitter incense rose.

"We are ready! Bring forward those who have earned reincarnation!" The foreman shouted in his deep basso as a line of souls moved up towards the pit. Said foreman was looking at a piece of paper in his hand freshly signed by Great King Enma himself which said:

One hundred souls shall be released from Hell and reincarnated in the Human World.

The list of who was free to return then began and it was these one hundred souls who were gathered in a line at the lip of the pit. Due to Great King Enma's small mistake they were getting a chance they should not yet have received, being terrible sinners. Murderers, bandits, liars and other terrible beings. But, Great King Enma's signed orders were absolute, because he was the Boss and so it would be done.

Far above this procession and the souls of sinners dropping into the pit for their unearned second chance, Suzy was climbing the mountain.

Huffing with effort she hopped from one little ledge or outcrop to the next like a bright red mountain goat. Below her on the lower slopes was the army of Oni, hollering for her to come down. But her lighter form kept the stone from slipping or collapsing under her leaps. Soon she reached the top and bent over with her hands on her knees, panting.

"Whew." She rubbed her sweaty forehead with a forearm and looked down to the distant dust cloud of the Oni. Pbbbttttt blowing a raspberry at them she skipped over and looked down into the hole. Leaning over the edge on her hands and knees.

Waaaaaaaay down at the bottom she could see the funny looking foreman with his two big horns and blue skin directing a long flow of sinful souls into a deep, deep, ridiculously deep pit. They'd walk up to it, do a funny dance and then leap into it.

"Oooooh. Woooow!" She said in amazement staring at the hole and wondering how deep it would go. Crunch.

"Eh?" She looked down at her hands clutching the lip of the hole. There were cracks everywhere around where she gripped the surprisingly fragile stone.

Krack!

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" She fell through the air as the lip gave way beneath her. She tumbled past dozens of braziers in a whirling dance of lights which made her sick and slap her hands over her mouth before passing into the top of the massive cavern. Her muffled cry had caught the attention of the foreman as she screamed through her hands in excitement and terror.

Before any of the Oni or the meanie souls could do anything she fell right into the pit of reincarnation and disappeared into the darkness.

"Huh? What was…?" The foreman stopped as his brain caught up with what he had seen and he went bone white in terror for his job.

"Stop! Stop everything! Close the gate! Someone got through who shouldn't have!" His voice echoed off the cavern walls and made everyone gasp. This was a catastrophic mistake!

King Enma would have his head for this, he thought as pandemonium erupted on the work floor and the sinners rushed for the rapidly closing gap. Only to be held back by the Oni workers and their enormous iron clubs squashing them flat.

"Weew...I found you sir! I have an order from Great King Enma for you!" A chipper and panting voice said behind the panicking and sweaty foreman. He looked at the panting messenger with dead eyes, staring in dread at the ominous sheet of paper in the smaller Oni's hand.

Site Foreman, stop the previous order. These souls cannot be allowed to reincarnate.

Klaang!
The giant plate went as it swung shut and a great moan of despair flew up from the remaining sinners.

For tiny Suzy, well, she was falling. Without any sign of stopping either.

"....weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" She'd gotten bored of screaming in terror so now she was just having fun trying to do somersaults in midair and other acrobatics.

She wasn't entirely sure how long she had been falling, but honestly she didn't mind at all! This feeling of speed was way too fun.

"I wonder when I'm going to stop falling though?" She said to the darkness shooting past her as she flipped around to be falling head first and put a hand to her chubby chin. Thinking hard she couldn't figure out when she would stop. She had found her Oni education pretty boooooooring, when she could just eat and have fun instead.

If she'd paid more attention she might know how long she had to fall through this pit. She fell for so long that she grew tired and fell asleep. Snoring gently she was unaware as light grew below her and a distressed hacking noise much like a very large cat with a hairball problem surrounded her.

"Puutoooiii!" Went something unseen as the pit of reincarnation rejected her Oni body and sent her cartwheeling into the atmosphere of a small planet. Still blissfully asleep.

Soaring over the white clouds she dropped through the purple air towards the green mountains and plains below. Poomf! She smacked into a cloud and shot through it like a red cannonball.

"Coooooooooooooooooooooold! Brrrrrrrrrr!" She cried out as she blinked suddenly wide awake eyes. Then she looked down.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" She screamed in primordial terror as she curled into a ball and her hair flapped like a big white towel above her. Her screams attracted attention from the flocks of four winged terror birds who lived on the mountains she was falling towards.

"Reeek?" Questioned the biggest bird as it stared up at the red morsel falling from the sky. A hop and a flap had its bright yellow body flopping through the air. Soon followed by its greedy relatives.

"Reeek! Reeek! Reeek!" They hooted behind the terror bird in a circus troupe of avian stupidity.

Suzy was unaware of the thing hunting her until she peeked up over her knees at the noise and saw the bird flopping like a wet fish through the air at her. Then it reached out and snatched her up in its claws!

"Oof! Hey! Let me go!" She said angrily, her tiny expression cutely screwed up in anger as she smacked the talons holding her and chomped at them to no effect.

"Reeek!" The bird did not care. It had food now! So what if the food was feisty and fell from the sky? It was time to feed the babies!

And so it carried little Suzy away to its nest as its fellows garbled and warbled behind it pitifully. To which it said.

"Reeek!" Haughtily, and flew over to its nest to hover above it and the cheeping horde of man sized chicks inside it.

"Quaak! Quaak! Queek!" The hideous things went, puffing themselves up into giant balls of yellow fluff as their toothed beaks dripped with saliva.

"Uh hi? Suzy asked quizzically as she waved from inside the talons of their parent. Then she was dropped with an eep! And oof!

The hatchlings gathered around her and stared down their beaks at her menacingly. Standing up she rubbed the back of her head and laughed nervously.

Groooooowwwwlllllllllllll! Her stomach howled and she bent over to clutch at it desperately. "Uuuuooooooogh. So hungry." She whimpered.

"Queeeeeeek!" The hatchlings burst into a flurry of stabbing beaks and tearing talons as they leapt for their distracted meal and subsequently collided with each other in a flurry of feathers and distressed quacking. Ducking and weaving around the stabbing beaks Suzy darted between the legs of one of the hatchlings.

Grabbing it by the leg she hopped out of the nest with it in tow and quacking in mortified confusion.

"Queek?" The rest chirped in unison as they looked over at the dust cloud being left by the rapidly running Oni girl. They tilted their heads as they watched the frantic flopping of their sibling.

"Queek!" One in the center cried out as it hopped after the girl and the rest followed in a train of squawks and quacks.

"Reeek? Reeek!?" Their mother went as she saw her hatchlings bounce out of the nest after their 'prey'.

Down the slope Suzy was running as fast as she could, her little legs a blur. She looked back at the bird she had in hand.

"Hey Birdy, you don't mind if I eatcha do you?" She asked happily with drool dripping from her two sharp fangs. The bird looked back with terrified tears in its eyes and frantically shook its head.

"Quaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!" It cried in despair as its insane captor gallivanted away with it. Before it could attempt to escape the terrain got rougher and its head bounced off the rocks like a ball as Suzy hopped between them.

Above her the other hatchlings were tumbling down the mountain side in a wave of yellow fluff and angry quacking as their frantic mother chased after them.

Grwwooollllll!

Holding her impromptu meal and stomach tighter she leapt, soaring over the boulders and ravines to sail for the trees below.

"Quaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!" "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" Cried the bird and girl in unison as they flew at the trees.

Smack!

They fell into the cushy canopy and then punched through it to tumble through the trees and bounce between their hard and thorny branches in a shower of leaves and pained cries.

Thump!

"Oowwwwwiieeeee…" Suzy said as she stood up and rubbed her sore butt from the hard landing. The bird still in her hand had X's for eyes. The quacking had disappeared and there was no sign of the angry birds coming after her. They must have lost sight of her. The purple trees all around her soared far into the sky and the little Oni stood in a beam of sunlight from the hole she made in the canopy. The dark green leaves all around her piled up in great drifts at the edges of the small clearing.

"Hmmmmmmm…" She said as she looked around for a good spot to eat. Absentmindedly she sampled the leaves and grass, tearing out great tufts and jamming them in her tiny gob. She walked off into the forest, still chewing, red eyes opening in the canopy in her wake.

"Lala lala lalalalala." She sang with her mouth full and wandered through the forest.

Grwwwoooooooooolllllll! Her stomach complained at her, and she clutched at it and winced.

"I know, I know Mr. Stomach is hungry. Be quiet for a sec would ya?" She grumbled back.

Hopping forward over a hill and looking around she spotted a nest of boulders sticking up out of the dip on the other side and hopped on top of that, crossing her legs and drooling voraciously over the bird in her hand.

Those red eyes which had followed her however, materialized into the forms of large white and red wolves. The biggest one drooled over the little girl and her hatchling, dousing her in sticky canine spit.

"Ewwwwwwww!" She howled as the beast above her slammed a paw down on top of the boulder. She barely hopped away in time and looking over her shoulder went eep! And ran away arms flung up in the air, still holding onto the bird.

They chased her all around the forest, and many other beasts besides because her puny size made her the perfect morsel.

It was many hours later when she finally escaped them and found herself in a patch of rolling hills with the sun dipping below the horizon to her left. She was panting harshly, barely able to breathe as she held her knee with one hand and the bird with the other. It looked far more ragged now, feathers patchy and its legs bent at weird angles as its tongue stuck out.

Looking around tiredly as she pushed her hair out of the way she didn't see anything that wanted to eat her but she was rapidly learning that maaaaaaybe things were better at hiding than she expected.

Huffing she stretched and jogged up a hill to sit on top of it. Holding the bird in front of her she sighed happily.

"Finally!" She said in relief.

Monch, monch, monch.

"Burrrrrrrrrrrrp! Haaaah." Letting out a happy puff she patted her belly in contentment, no trace of the bird in existence any longer.

Boom, boom! Looking up with a, "Huh, what was that?" she stood and shaded her eyes from the glare of the orange sun with her hands. Out to her left there was a gargantuan storm rushing across the hills towards her. Already her hair was blowing in the increasing wind.

Ka-krack!

The boom of thunder startled her, making her leap into the air with a yeeek! and giant eyes as the entire sky was lit up with dozens of forks of lightning. More thunder came and made her flinch.

"Bleh! Fheeh." Pulling windblown hair out of her mouth she decided to get out of the wind and find a safe hidey hole before she ate some of her own hair by accident.

With leaves blowing around her and green grass caught in the wind she jogged away from the storm looking for a cave. The temperature dropped, causing her to shiver and regret the slight tears in her clothing. They were a lot rougher now, the hems coming apart at the edges from the excitement of the day.

The wind was blowing and the rain was starting to fall in big fat drops the size of her fist when she finally found her cave. A big hole in the side of the tallest hill in this collection of hills it looked out on where she figured the sunrise would come from. Sniffing she held her nose, "Ick!" at the stink of old meat wafting from the cave. It was probably inhabited, but that was fine with her. She liked to fight! Just like she liked to trick people and this was her cave now!

She darted into the cave, the fading light from day back-lighting her as she peered into the darkness with her cheery red eyes. Growls emanated from the darkness. A pair of bright golden eyes flashed at her from the darkness. Slashes cut the air above her as she ducked. Pushing off the floor as hard as her little feet could carry her she slammed an outstretched fist into the throat of the beige furred tiger with razor sharp fangs towering above her.

"Ghurk!" It cried as it fell to the ground wheezing and hacking around its bruised windpipe. Demonic giggles emerged from the tiny Oni as she landed and then leaped up again! Flipping in mid air she drop kicked the tiger in the head. Standing on the poor creature's head she stamped on it in a flurry of kicks.

"Hiyayayayayayaa yaaaaaaaay!" She shouted, dribbling the head of the tiger off the stone before bouncing off and landing in a fiercely cute stance with her arms raised like little claws.

"Rawr!" She growled at the tiger, which was thoroughly dead at this point, soul leaking out to go where animals go.

After a moment of no response she smiled and sighed in relaxation as she used its corpse for a pillow. There was a peaceful moment of relaxation.

Then she leapt up in excitement as everything hit her at once.

"I'm on an actual adventure! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!" She screamed in glee as she zipped around her cave.

"Wooooooooooooooooooooooohhhooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" Her cries of celebration echoed from the cave for hours before she eventually wore herself out, after scaring away the beasts for tens of kilometers around the place. In the excitement she ended up gorging herself on the tiger.

"So good! Mmmmmm yummy yums." She concluded after sucking the last bit of meat off of a leg bone before throwing the bone in after it to be crunched between her two little fangs. She was almost a ball now, content after her gluttony.

She fell asleep with a contented snore and tiny snot bubble on top of the leftover tiger skin.

She was happy and dreamt of all the adventures she imagined she would have.

And so ends little Suzy's first day on her grand adventure. What would she find tomorrow when she left her cave? She was excited to find out! However, unbeknownst to the little girl, darkness loomed on the distant horizon and her adventure would not be fun and games forever. Tune in next time for the next exciting episode of Dragon Ball Little O.

[] Write in: what she does for fun next>

-----
So Hi everyone, this wouldn't leave me alone till I wrote it! All rights to Dragon Ball and its associated franchises belong to their rights holders.

This quest is going to give you folks a lot of input, as all votes will be rules limited write ins.

The rules are pretty simple:

-As a character Suzy doesn't like sinners, she thinks they're "meanies". This is a natural part of being an Oni raised however briefly in Hell, so she's not likely to help or work with the various evil folks running around.

-She likes to trick people and steal things. Its what she did for entertainment for the whole of her life, so keep that in mind for when the opportunity to be a troublemaker presents itself.

-Much like Goku she likes to fight, as much as she likes to trick people or steal things. Unlike Goku though she also likes to lead things on merry chases as part of the "game". Buried within her is also a good unconscious sense of what she can beat.

-More so than Goku she likes to eat. Even more than a Saiyan she is gluttonous and will take any opportunity for food she can. This includes nibbling on strange things when she sees them.

-She is uninterested in running an empire or ruling a planet, and its not going to change even as she grows up. She's fundamentally too lazy and gluttonous for it and it is also not something I'm here to write which is why I made her like she is.

-Pretty obviously if Suzy doesn't know about something, don't structure votes around that knowledge. I'll be here to clarify anything because I want my players knowledge to match hers as much as possible.

-Finally I'm going to reserve veto power for write ins mainly for two reasons: one is so I can sanity check you guys and give you some grace for potentially really stupid decisions. Mistakes in your information or misconceptions which I'll correct so we're all on the same page. The second is if I find a write in just doesn't fit in the story as something I want to write, though I expect this to be pretty rare.

For the system itself, while Power Level is a thing I will occasionally reference as a nod to tradition and there will be instances you can get a good grasp of Suzy's Power Level or some of her opponents Power Level, comparisons and versus feats based on such are not why I'm writing this. I'm writing this to watch the spectacle of an Oni girl accidentally kicked out of Hell get into awesome fights, win or lose. I will give you means to track her progress on her character sheet for the sake of that little part of our brain that likes watching progress go up.

Furthermore there won't be dice or the like for fighting, instead treat it like Stunting in Exalted when devising battle tactics and technique training ideas. To those who might not be familiar, Stunting is writing an action in an interesting or funny or cool or horrifying fashion. Its a fancy kind of write in basically where you detail whatever you're doing in an interesting and or flamboyant way. ANY action at all, involved in your fight or anything else. Even talking to people! The more amazing and impactful your Stunt is, the better chances of success or at least lesser failure. Which in Dragon Ball can become successes through the results of effort in a rematch.

Go shounen and lean into Dragon Ball with your tactics, treat it more like a cooperative adventure in story telling and you'll probably have a lot of fun, even if you don't always win.

Concurrently with this I am running another quest A Dragon and the Romp through the Deep, so check it out if you want!

Character Sheet
Suzy

The Smallest Oni: Suzy is tiny and weak by the standards of many things, but now she's on an adventure and everything will change.

Body: Stronger than sixty well trained soldiers.
Transformed State (Atavism): Stronger than 240 well trained soldiers.

Ki: What's Ki? Maybe its like that... that burning I felt while fighting Crocodile?

History of States of Being:
Body
  • None yet, you're just starting.
  • Stronger than three grown woodsmen.
  • Stronger than five grown woodsmen.
  • Stronger than eight grown woodsmen.
  • Stronger than ten well trained soldiers.
  • Stronger than twenty well trained soldiers.
  • Stronger than thirty well trained soldiers.
  • Stronger than fifty well trained soldiers.
Ki
  • None yet, you're just starting.
  • What's Ki? Ooo its bright! (She has no idea what it is)
  • What's Ki? I think it has to do with eating and the spirit?
  • What's Ki? It definitely has to do with eating and the spirit and life from what Master Bull says.

Health: 80%!

So for the sake of straightforwardness, I've decided to split Dragon Ball power/strength into two parts. All Fighters have their Body, obviously, and they can train it to certain limits. Eventually after passing through many such barriers one reaches a state of being where in order to progress further one must develop Ki. But one can have too much Ki for their Body to contain, either through training, mutation or Powering Up.

This creates a pattern at the middling to higher levels where Fighters train their Body in order to sustain higher levels of Ki and thus raise their Ki so it can sustain stronger Bodies in an endless cycle.

Ki is also what Suzy will draw from in order to get into beam wars and energy bolt spam and the glitzy explosions common to Dragon Ball.

Powering UP is a process made extremely famous in DBZ with its multi episode screaming scenes, where a Fighter pulls more Ki up from within their own Body. Supercharging their levels of Ki temporarily and possibly radically increasing their power. Because she has not unlocked her Ki, Suzy cannot Power UP.

As is tried and true in Dragon Ball, where would I be without cataloging your Techniques? With the fight with the Lion-Bull you have unlocked the Ki-less form of Great King Enma's Great Palm.

Techniques

Daiō Style: The style of Great King Enma which he teaches to his greatest children, or that they pick up on their own. A grappling style in some ways similar to the stances of Sumo, within it is his famous Yemma Lock and the Oni's innate knack for tetsubo, kanabo and clubs. You have gained a greater understanding of Daiō Style, discovering from first principles one of its basic stances and the powerful King's Throw. In a time of great need you have also discovered a strange ability, Atavism, connected to her primal urges and unusual hunger.
  • Great King's Great Palm. Incomplete, requires Ki.
  • Oni's Instinct, Punishing Kanabo. Incomplete, requires Ki.
  • King's Throw. Entering a a Sumo stance Suzy catches an opponent's blow and punishes them with a brutal shoulder throw. Incomplete, requires Ki.
  • Suffering of Starvation Technique: Atavism. Suzy in times of turmoil finds herself returning to her roots and the basic savagery that forms part of her fundamental nature. Study requires fierce battles. (This is a Transformation)

Southern Bull Style: Your understanding of Southern Bull Style advances by leaps and bounds, understanding the fundamental stance and its connection with perseverance and reliability. The deeper mysteries are also becoming clear to you, as it is a style meant to use a firm instinctive stance to leverage relaxed strength in the face of nearly insurmountable odds. To draw out one's potential and throw off the shackles of sloth, take the Horn stance and charge. To toss mountains, change the course of rivers, stubbornness is the root of this style. Mastery comes closer every day.
  • Horn Stance: The basic stance of Southern Bull Style first discovered against Crocodile, raising ones arms and setting your feet you receive the charge of the opponent and fight back with all your strength. Or prepare and then charge with a steady footing and never stop.
    • Horn Counter: An evolution of the concept of Horn Stance upon receiving an enemy charge, counter charge them and attempt to upset their footing. Complete.

Cooking: Suzy has found the first secrets of a most wonderful art, that of making food even tastier!

And of course now with the defeat of the Lion Bull, Suzy has gained her first Weapon. A bit of a departure from Dragon Ball's traditional methods of combat, but one that fits well with her heritage and themes.

Weapons
  • Baby's First Kanabo: A wooden stick made from incredibly tough wood that is twice her size and very heavy. Broken utterly, fondly remembered.
  • Dragon's Tooth: A curving tooth that is two meters long with a big knot of bone where the gum used to be this weapon is incredibly durable and very nice for smashing. The point at the bottom is also quite sharp!

Transformations

In Dragonball and Dragonball Z many Ki users and fighters have the ability to Transform. This is a special technique or mutation which is activated by special circumstances specific to each Transformation that provide an altered state of being and consciousness. Most commonly these are more powerful states meant to harness more and more of a warrior's potential, though in some cases it is used to reduce power one cannot contain.

Most Transformations are temporary, drawing on intense reserves of energy in order to achieve their pinnacle of strength and they will eventually run out. Some extremely powerful transformations will also damage the user's body as rampant energy surges through their cells, possibly killing them.

While Suzy hasn't unlocked her awareness of her own Ki, this does not mean she is not in some sense using it. All living beings have Ki and unconsciously do things with it as they live their lives and fight and in fact use it to live because it is fundamentally life force.

Hmm, what to have Suzy do...

[X] Time to explore! Wander towards the horizon and look for interesting things...food, she's looking for more food.

So, I know this is early, but I think I know about what our character will and/or should look like grown.

...but anyway, LOVING this so far.

The true secret of all Bungie quests is that they're actually about eating things :V

Really? Goku ate clouds.

Niiiiice, not quite what I have in mind but quite good! The musculature is really nice though the legs aren't what I have in mind. I have like three or four pictures in store for her getting older.

Yu know you might honestly not be wrong lol : D.

I didn't remember that but yes. She will eat a lot.

That's my intent at least.

Fair enough. I just saw this cheeky oni girl and immediately thought of this art, which is like my favorite oni character artwork ever.

She should just stay cute, that's the best kind of PC.

I'm not sure how close to the rules you want to stick, but Stunting also is very explicit in that you cannot describe an opponents actions. I suppose there might be wiggle room for things like assuming your opponent is taking a stance if you're fighting them or being able to bounce off of a person if there's a crowd around you, but generally you stay away from that.

To help people with stunts its generally made up of an action you're starting with, the character's emotions or intent within the overall scene, and/or especially environmental descriptions in regards to how your character is using it.

Might be better for people to try and look through the votes for an Exalted quest or two to see what stunts are like.

I'm guessing we're remaining red skinned for our life here? I... was kind of wondering how adaptive we are between our age and any innate magic/spiritual power we possess and how it would shape us, but... eh. I don't really know how much red skin would make us stand out in Dragonball even if a more human form might let us fit in/dodge suspicion better, but that would require it to either be automatic or for her to care enough in the first place to try and pick up magic to disguise herself.

Both of which are kind of doubtful I guess.

Still, Dragonball. Shit was weird back in that one. Good weird too. Z lost a lot of its... magic I guess when it transitioned to what it became.

I made a bit of interesting lore for an SI I'll never publish so I guess I'll share it here in case you want to use it/it inspires you... I almost don't want to share it because someone else might use it before I do, but I know I'll never actually publish my story anyway:
So the idea is basically that as humanity advances and "solves" the world around them they push everything else away into a kind of... shadow.

The Wilderness. Magic runs freely and creatures of myth and legend still walk. There are places where the worlds connect, anything from a once a century ritual to getting lost in the local park can be the connection point between them, and so they aren't completely separated, just... lost to each other. The places where they meet would be the Borders, I would call these places being like OG Dragonball, where magic wasn't common but it was still around fairly frequently. Well at the Border's low end it would be like that.

Dragonball humanity is just weird anyway. Pretty sure they have a few long term wishes running over them, though it'd be hard to peg what exactly. They have a penchant for forgetting things that would traumatize them as a civilization though. Or just forget things in general honestly.

Anyway, time to achieve enlightenment through punching people. And eating apparently.

Yeah, describing what the other guy is doing is going to be my job mainly. Your job as readers is describing how Suzy is feeling, acting and what she's doing with the environment included. She's fighting a giant cyclops for example, and she's losing. How does she feel about that, what drives her to act, who does she remember? What does she do with that feeling? And how does the world buckle under her efforts, does the wind blow majestically, the ground shatter like fine china, or the waves part?

You know what I'm getting at, being familiar with the rules of Stunting. (I'm also really glad someone familiar with Exalted is reading this! More fun for everyone!)

I'd also really recommend Panopticon quest to everyone, that had some excellent vote writing along similar lines, though not completely identical. You guys writing half the update is a lot of work I wouldn't feel comfortable putting on you all for multiple reasons and I won't expect it. As well I would recommend the session fiction logs of Aleph's Kerisgame(which is a full exalted game).

Fundamentally, run options by me and we can talk about them and we'll be fine I expect. Its how I learned Stunting works, where its a running discussion between Storyteller and player.

I'll also try and spend time tutorialising combat so we can get used to how that's going to work.

She's going to stay red yeah for her life, unless she somehow unlocks a Transformation ability because those can get really weird. *Points in the general direction of Oozaru, The Great Ape form* At the moment I don't plan on directing the story in a direction where her red skin is a detriment to her disguise, and you'll find out why pretty quickly I'm hoping. Its also something of an aesthetic choice on my part because I like red oni art a lot.

And to be honest yeah, Suzy wouldn't stand out that much. 'Specially when you consider all the aliens running around and the general strangeness of Dragon Ball.

On the note of magic and such like if you make friends with a sorcerer I may well write them suggesting the idea of disguising Suzy for a Thing while its happening. It'd be fun!

And you're also right in considering Suzy's potential. She's young, and she's at the start of her Great Adventure. That kind of set up means she's bound to change. And no one gets kicked out onto such a thing unless its possible for the Adventure to either unlock their potential to change or to make them gain it and then act on it. Its my intent to spend time exploring her spiritual power and all that, for sure, because its important to do Dragon Ball right in my opinion.

Why thank you! Hmm, I definitely like it as a bit of lore and as a description of the structure of Earth with its cities and then weird ass dinosaur plains in the franchise over the decades. That all said I'm not sure how that will inspire me from now on, I'll have to think about it.

And hey, give it a go maybe, you might surprise yourself.

It just occurred to me but one of the first techniques we should have Suzy develop when she unlocks ki is the ability to make a club out of ki. Both to have a backup weapon and to surprise people with an energy club!
That's definitely a possibility!

Speaking of DB weirdness isn't the leader of the people of Earth a dog? I vaguely, and I mean incredibly vaguely, remember a canine looking character at some point being in that role I think.

Uh. *Thinks*

Yep. King, or Koku-O in Japanese. He's an anthropomorphic dog.
Exactly what I mean when I said there seems to be long-term Wish weirdness already. Their King is a Dog that doesn't seem to do anything and everyone just goes "Eh" at it.

Not to mention, again, "Who is King Picollo?" in the Z era. Its like everyone just forgot. Again.
And hey, give it a go maybe, you might surprise yourself.
I have written a bit of it, to flush out how the Wilderness looks a bit if nothing else, but I know better than to assume I'll actually post it ever.

And yeah, your stuff is usually pretty put together, but... I figure I might as well mention it. It seems like it could fit here more or less? *Shrug* Or not. Don't know what you have.

Humanity seems to have its own magic even as they reject the existence of it in Dragonball... actually that was another idea I had.

Humanity's weirdness is that every single one of them is capable of magic even if they almost never realize it.

But then most Ki users in general seems to have some level of magic use. I wouldn't be surprised to find out most special Ki blasts are incidental magic at least a little. Powered by Ki, but their uniqueness is caused by magic the user accidentally uses. It would explain the Kamehameha anyway, especially considering Roshi knows something of magic between his more esoteric techniques and who his sister is.

Of course that also starts getting into what I think magic is in Dragonball, so... Patterns and Rituals btw. Making different patterns out of [insert energy form here], usually Ki. Which would be ritual casting in its own way, hence why I say both.

But, again, don't want/not trying to step on any toes, and that's all I have anyway.

Honestly yeah they do have long term wishes running around, because it is established at some point that someone wished to be king some time in the distant past and that persisted. And is possibly responsible for King the character.

Hmm. Well in regards to your spoiler the frame I'm using for this quest is that Magic and Ki are distinct sections of mysticism and methods for improving the capabilities of one's self(which is rather similar to how the series frames it imo). If you look back at the mythological framework Dragon Ball, the first one specifically, it is an adventure story in the model of Journey to The West or Momotaro. In those stories through some means the protagonist gains physical might and character growth via training while running into magical beings or sorcerers which have used something else, some other method to attain their position.

This distinction in methods translates over to Dragon Ball and gives the split in the series that you see and is the basis for what I'm using where they are cousin methods. They're basically different insights into different portions of the mysticism of the Universe with only some overlap. Different methods of enlightenment and such.

This is not necessarily an exclusionary relationship.

Under this framework the Kamehameha and Dodonpa and Keinzan(Destructo Disk) are techniques which draw from the martial arts concepts of visualization and manipulating the mystical energy of your own body through that visualization and special stances providing leverage for powerful techniques. In Dragon Ball this energy is Ki, either yours or in the case of the Spirit Bomb the Ki of the universe via everyone who donates energy.

Now, stuff like Buu's Transmutation Beam is Magic and Ki put together because it has a more esoteric effect than just blowing someone up and makes them into candy and such.

Humans or other races all using Magic in some regard is definitely something I'll consider because its an interesting explanation for some of the weirdness. I'll have to consider it when it comes time for her to meet intelligent races. And don't worry you're not stepping on any toes.

That's more or less what mine is as well. Specific patterns they make, incidental or not, with their Ki and Rituals they might not even realize they are doing like the stances or words. I would bet the words "Kamehameha" are actually a ritual/spell chant. If you're good enough you don't need it, but its always stronger with a more powerful chant.

*Shrug*

And yes, there's a difference between a Ki Practitioner and a Spell Caster too. One who studies the inner energies of the body (and world perhaps) versus one who goes out and learns to patterns underlying the universe itself. Ki still seems to be the universal energy used for everything in its own way though. Advanced enough tech, Ki Practitioners of course, psychics, and seems like it would be one of the more potent energy types to use for spell casting... I don't know.

With how much Ki covered I never got why there was a separate pool entirely for Magic, but its not like it doesn't fit to have it either. Internally generated energy versus externally harvested energy maybe? Eh.

I was mainly considering that humanity's oddity since Acrosians are basically unkillable and Namekians can auto-regen. And have a magic clan.

But another thing I came up with, but forgot about because I haven't written on it a lot, pulls from the super sayajin chakra theory thing in that each type of super sayajin is representing a different chakra gate. I took that a step further and assigned humans and sayajins (the only races I've worked with so far) chakras they lean towards and help define them as races and why they're good at what they are.

Like Sayajins would be primarily about the 3rd Chakra, the chakra of Energy, with a supporting pillar in the 1st Chakra, the chakra of Survival. Fonts of Energy who are driven forward by their survival and are ultimately creatures of raw instinct.

Humans would be, I think, the 2nd chakra, the chakra of pleasure, with the 6th chakra, the chakra of insight, buried under it. Instinctively insightful and... advancing(?) creatures bound by their own needs and wants until they master them.

I suppose Kais might be an example too since they would probably be creatures of the 7th chakra, the chakra of enlightenment, but ultimately don't truly achieve that state unless they can unlock the other 6.

That one you probably don't want to use honestly. It'd be more a measure of enlightenment and a source of extra power, since the purer the energy and less blocked up the chakras the stronger one would be, than anything else. And it'd probably require more lore restructuring than would be healthy to try and incorporate it unless you already have something like it.

I'm not sure where Dragonball Onis would even fit on their either. Especially since there's oddities like Broly who favors the 4th chakra and Buu who probably wouldn't even have a recognizable chakra system.

Well.

Dragonball Onis are celestial functionaries, they manage Hell and insure sinners get their just rewards--they're basically minor gods in a lot of ways (And notably, they can run herd on even the likes of fucking Freeza, despite having pretty mediocre power levels).

I'd say borrowing Chakra Theory, they're innately atuned to Muladhara and Vishuddha. So red and blue respectively.

Remind you of anything?
