Sensory techniques are the eyes and ears of a ninja village at war - even genin who weren't ready for combat would be expected to pull long shifts to cover rear areas and try to see if the enemy had slipped through. Maybe you had your ambition burned out of you, then.
 
I wonder why this arc is entitled "Constitution". Is that in the sense of physical health, or is Konan going to take this opportunity to introduce a written governing document for the village contra to the usual unwritten web of established custom and practice?

I'd like to hear more about her previous team, and this is probably the first opportunity we've gotten to actually open about how she feels/felt after losing half of them.

It's worth noting a number of villages have founding documents of some sort, whether its a charter from the local sovereign, treaties between clans, a body of established law and so on. Since villages are new and rather deliberately formed, these documemts are relatively codified.

Smaller villages do tend to be more informal, particularly when they're glorified clan compounds, or - in the case of modern Amegakure - a one-man military dictatorship on top of aristocratic governors.
