Another thing; but going to hard to quickly might draw a lot of attention to us; if we shoot up to 7 standing in one or two turns we likely will get a lot of decry the competition.

Which is fair, but at the moment we're not even a contender yet. We're in last place. We need heavy investment to be fighting for the top instead of the middle. With the way the war seems to be set up, you need to take first place and stay there for as long as you can, since you don't know when the music's going to stop. Can't sneakily hold third place to leap into first at the end. It might be a good idea to let others take first for the first couple of turns so they have to spend money fighting off deprecations and sabotage, but we don't actually have a choice in the matter, being last place and all.

I more mean we'd be jumping from last to like, third. I am for doing a, singular, Franchise Wars action next turn and doing other actions to invest elsewhere; then maybe doubling up afterwards (But never making it our only corpo actions).

We got a lot of things we need to try to do this game; and once we can safely earn money it will be a lot easier.

Fair point, but have you considered:

-That it would be very fun and seeing reactions to us jumping from dead last to bronze medal in a single turn in the Reverse Rival Report would be very gratifying to read?

(This isn't entirely serious, just doing one makes sense as an argument.)

Why? Half-measures are going to be just wasted money. If you don't want to throw good money after bad in a sunk cost fallacy, why would you bother putting more money into the Franchise War at all? Unless there's a point at which you think we should go full bore pedal to the metal, but when should that be?

Because it's not a half measure, it's making sure we have a way to expand our other businesses instead of just doubling down on one.

Researching the Market, Silphium, and Peter Pan are all valuable options; and ones we should take sooner then later do to how they scale (Silphium and the other things we sell can likely wait til December at the very least; but not all at once and Market Research is better taken sooner then later as it will lead to more companies we can try to buy out).

Come on, Davenport...Either way, i'd be willing to sacrifice Pan for another Franchise action. So...Research the Market, Silphium, Focus Test a Recipe, take an affirmative stance on lab meat, MAYBE decry the competition. With one or two ready to sacrifice if we really need to cover a hole for Negaduck.

Pan's reason is it makes us money. Considering it will cost 3 to do I am hesitant on even doing it this upcoming turn and not the next. If we do 2 Franchise Wars actions we spend 6 Funds next turn, maybe more.

(Also since I forgot it last turn, go through Company Records is also useful for information agthering. Not next turn useful but something to keep in mind)

Oh, by the way, things I want to do next turn: Rejoin the feds. Frankly, we need to have a united front if we're gonna face this crisis. I want that aid money. And Russ's loyalty needs to be pumped to avoid the Dream Queen cometh. If we're the Supreme Leader, well...It's time to give up our ego for our people. I'd prefer either the QMS or maybe Kermit on it. Someone who can help Doof's character development move in a non-shitty direction from this.

Considering were very likely going to do Declaration quest next turn, makes more sense to rejoin right after that quest instead.

I mean, this is largely, from where i'm sitting, another prep action for the duckpoaplyse. Better to get it square away sooner rather then later, is my thought. Heck, for all we know, Negaduck attacks at the end of next turn.

In my opinion next turn we should do, 2 FW actions (new recipe and lab grown meat), one market research action, and the Duck prep action assuming it's corporate which it might not be.

Assuming we use the inator to get the 2nd martial action unlocked next turn, we can start renting out PMC and doing villainy with QMS / Olivia and even Khan for him to become a cape for his objective, to fund further corporate actions such as Pan, continuing a strong entrance into FW, etc.

We have enough funds to do this, especially if we pick a research agreement option that gives +4 immediate funds.

I'd prefer the +2 from haptic do to both being guarenteed and not having anti-synergy with other actions (I am fine with doing drugs eventually, just not when sucking up to the feds) but your right we have around... 12(?) Funds. I think?

We'll have around 7 funds left if we do haptic, possibly more if we have other fund gen actions. If there are legal +4 funds actions from the other zaibatsu im also fine with that.

I'd prefer to avoid doing any major supervillainy right about now, considering we/the country are about to face the Dark Souls of supervillain attacks.

Ok I was wrong; we are gonna be at 9 funds at the start of next turn (Started on 18 this turn -1 on Corpo actions, -3 on Quest, -5 from buying had a -2 and +2 that cancellec each other out). Rocket's Red Glare is one fund; moving us to 8. 4 corperate actions is 6 (1+2+3) Funds minimum, researching a market is an additional 1, as does each franchise wars action, depending on the action. This isn't counting if the enemy is Bushroot (Cost a Fund) or if we have to do other nationals that cost money

So in total we're spending 10; while only having 9. We will have to cut at least one FW war action as it will drop it to spending 7 funds; then focus on actions such as split second. I stand by my statement of not wanting to do drugs next turn do to the backfire potentially possibly undermining what we want to do with a lot of the rest of the turn; though ODI can give us a free quest the following turn. Seeking out a Collab alongside a RA if we want to also works well, since for most factions collabs will make more money.

4 corperate actions is 6 (1+2+3) Funds minimum

4 Corporate actions = 4 - 1 = 3 funds minimum.

--[x] [Corporate Actions] Sell silphium (1 funds)
--[x] [Corporate Actions] Franchise Wars: Address the competition (1 funds)
--[x] [Corporate Actions] Hold a Powerline concert (+3 funds)

Fund Calculation
18 starting funds
-5 for ENCOM
-2 for Exhibits
+2 for biomechanical interfaces
-4 for corp actions (3-1+1+1)
+3 for powerline
-3 for quest
9 Ending Funds

See the funds calculation from last turn's corporate actions.

Derp fugged up there. That it was the Double the cost system they tossed around then messed up my math (How the hell did I get0+1+2=4).

It is 6 though since some Corpo actions cost an additional fund. 7 from the quest. So it is affordable, and we can get minimum 3, maximum 5 back (If we don't get lucky during the quest).

If there was ever a turn to not be stingy on, this is the one. With the updated calculation, we should be able to afford 2 Franchise actions (lab grown meat and new recipe), a Market Research, the Declaration Quest, and the Negaduck prep action.

We can recover our short-term funds with continued Zaibatsu research agreements (and an Olympia research agreement), renting out PMC, maybe doing supervillainy (with Olivia if people want to play safe), also split second gives funds right away, etc

I'd reccomend Olympia Collab do to the fact those are more directly Business related (meaning more chance for immediate paydays)but otherwise yeah' I agree.

@Arathnorn

For a write in, what would the councils Opinions of having Cruella make a Dinosaur Leather Fashion Chain be? Could Smarty be involved if its Stewardship?

Also would Technor get a +10 from Odd Jobbers if he's trying to convince Doof to rejoin the Feds?

@Arathnorn @Made in Heaven @Argidoll

A few questions regarding Smarty.

1) We've had it described to us in the past that Smarty is best for corporate related stewardship actions, with a buy out being the best example. With buy outs now being a corporate action, can we still use Smarty on them? If unable to answer, is the answer to this question something we would have to do market research first to discover?

2) We've also had it described "For anything he's willing to work with you on, you can assume you won't need to dip into your Income pile", does this mean we could do a buyout with no funds or reduced funds than if we had done it by ourselves?

I think what the best use of Smarty for us could be, is to do the market research corporate action ourselves this upcoming turn on the west coast, and then the turn after next turn do a buyout on one of the West Coast companies that get unlocked. I would go with Davenport Industries if they are an option as they would combo extremely well with the collab we just did with Sycorax, allowing us to mass manufacture the high-tech cybernetics that we just had a hand in designing. The potential that it could have for New Men seems incredible. Plus, the potential of getting Douglas Davenport as a hero unit seems incredible.

i have a question about Mirages personals. sorry if this is the wrong way to ask questions and or if they are badly phrased.

specifically two of mirages personals. the first renew olymnpia contacts. her progress bar personal that reduces olympia infiltration and colab dcs and tells us more about what they are up to. does the benefic change at all seeing as we are allied or does it remain in it's current state?

the second is her recruit a hero personal. 50% chance to recruit a random hero from the rolodex.

i have multiple questions about it but mostly what part of the rolodex. does it pull from our recruitment list or from the entire rolodex of free heroes?

the second is how random is it/why is it random. becouse i'm going to be honest, it feels odd. i get that it is a bit for balance but a 50% chance for a completely random hero unit is just not really viable. it doesn't really sound like Mirage either.

i don't think Mirage would ever hire someone like fred or rubber chicken and i don't really see how it would work in story if she rolled people like them.

So, like, I wanna know.

Can we just like, run a campaign asking for a Terraformer? As a Diplo or Stewardship action?

Or can we possibly get Ludivine/Doof to start a program to maybe train Lizzy as one?

@Arathnorn

@Arathnorn the industries in the latter half of the Industries have our name the Industry in the standing portion where the ones before it don't. The Industry is named in the description section, so I don't see why it should be listed in the standing section. It shouldn't be inconsistent at least. I've colored what I'm referring to and included examples of the first half.

@Arathnorn

Hey, would non-quest actions and personal actions that take the hero out of Danville make them unavalaible for the crisis if it happens at the end of next turn?

@Arathnorn would informing the Red Car be a Personal, Diplo, or Intrigue action?

@Arathnorn

How have the changes in law regarding Supers and FEMA expansion effected the insurance industry? Is it possible to have the government pick up the tab ?

Edited

@Arathnorn Hello, I had a few questions about the above traits.
  1. Does Gonzo's trait apply if we assign Kermit to a quest action, assuming there is actually something on the quest that could cause an Opinion increase or decrease?
  2. Does Rizzo the Rat's trait roll a separate 1d100 in addition to the National Action's dice roll, or do they use the same dice roll?
    1. For example if an action has a 5% CF chance, do we need the National Action's roll to be 20 or less to get the 1 funds? (Basically meaning we would only potentially get the 1 funds on actions that we've already failed or critically failed on)

@Arathnorn Hey questions about Esoteric Transportation Zaibatsu RA

1. Would Wasabi or QMS get their speciality Bonus on it

2. Since heroes can refuse actions they dislike, would Wasabi refuse any Zaibatsu RA's do to his history with Yokai and in San Fran?
@Arathnorn
Heres a list of our Questions I was able to find

Final Question from me: How hard would it be to start mass farming Doonkleberries? What are the councils takes? Same with an Animation Studio and Amusement Park.

[ ] Start a Dinosaur Leather Fashion Chain
DC 100

Outcome: -2 funds to set up leather cloning facilities, +1 miscellaneous income, +15 Cruella opinion

Council Outlook: 2/3 (Pass)
Coyote: That seems like a practical use of our time! (Pass)
Goofy: That's a little creepy. (Abstain)
Mirage: We can expand in this direction if you wish, but beware of spreading ourselves too thin. (Abstain)
Janus: It would be an enormous undertaking to set up cloning facilities solely for the production of leather. Our resources are better used elsewhere. (Veto)
Ludivine: "It's not like I'm gonna be wantin ta use de clonin bay anytime zoon." (Abstain)
Malf: Skin dragons to make clothes out of them? That's a great idea! (Pass)

Odd Jobbers would not apply to convincing Doof.

The reason buyouts have been moved to corporate actions is that it represents DEI stabilizing and Doof managing to focus enough that he doesn't have to worry about the 'low level' stuff. Corporate actions don't use heroes, they're essentially all handled by your nameless pencil pushers doing stuff in the background.

Any non-corporate actions that Smarty is willing to participate on will have their costs halved. If the action costs 1 funds, it will be reduced to 0. This comes at the cost of Smarty gaining half the benefits.

Thank you for pointing this out. Mirage's personals will be reworked in the coming turn.

@Arathnorn

If you want to recruit a terraformer, making a big splash in that particular industry is a good way to do it. As an example, you could take an option to work on the Wasteland project. Alternatively, you could approach another king or have them approach you on a massive project, and that would be a good way to attract attention in the field.

Lizzy is not and never will be a terraforming specialist. She's too far down her own field for this. She does not have a trait for this since it's so ridiculously obscure, but if you take a national action that significantly involves insects she'll definitely be given a bonus.

This is a formatting error, it will be fixed with the next turn update.

This would be a Doof personal.

@Arathnorn

If you want a government subsidy, you should lobby for it.

1. Yes. There's no reason the usual Muppet Chaos would not act as Muppet Chaos if Kermit's on a quest.
2. Yes he does, otherwise Rizzo automatically gives you money on a crit fail. Which, while hilarious, is not the intent of the trait. This makes no mechanical difference but we want to keep our options open on writing hilarious Rizzo schemes even if the action doesn't critically fail.

1. Wasabi would not. While the ODI technically counts as his specialty through use of reverse-engineered digitizer tech and crystal key refraction, you get the sense that the 'esoteric transportation' doesn't involve anything of the sort. QMS would proc on that, though.
2. Given the fact that Wasabi screams every time he sees the Bakaemono logo on his coworker's laptop, you have the feeling that asking him would not end well.

Final Question from me: How hard would it be to start mass farming Doonkleberries? What are the councils takes? What are the councils takes? Same with an Animation Studio and Amusement Park.
That's a fun idea, we'll add it to the corporate action list.

You do, in fact, already own an animation studio. I wonder what their next release is going to be?

So because we might need QMS for the crisis, and Wasabi def can't collab with them, We probably going to need to have Lizzy and/or Jumba do the research agreements with Zaibatsu this and next turn assuming that's what we go with for our next diplo action.

If we do the insect stuff, we should 100% keep Mez in Sycorax. Watch what she ends up doing with them.

I think we should expand contractors using big idea for CRIT potential, and use the excess slots to save Smarty for a potential hostile takeover of a "heavily maligned company" or another serious stewardship action. Considering our money situation we can't hire the dickens for awhile anyway, plus having higher priority things to spend our money on, so there is no need to rush to use smarty just "cause"

Plus we got WoG from @Argidoll
"The best use of Smarty off the top of my head is taking chunks out of a hostile King's organisation once they've been incapacitated."
