@Made in Heaven For Write-ins would this ones be allowed?

National:

- Investigate the theft of the Declaration of Independence

Personals:

-Janus Lee: Help Jumba Experiment! (taken at the same time as Jumba personal Experiment!)
-Malifishmirtz: Create Meatlings using the meat from The Rain-Food-inator

Artifact of the Past: Khan is completely unfamiliar with modern technology and receives a -20 penalty on any roll focused around it. This effect can, perhaps, be mitigated in time.
It looks like this hasn't been updated yet? We completed the action that should have softened this flaw.

What do you want to find out? How would you go about it? You need to give us some idea of how you're going to do it.
I was thinking along the lines of either seeing who the company is a front for or gathering information on their security and where they're keeping the codes so we have some prep work for a future attempt at stealing the codes.

Plus we already had to shift targets once, so we may as well check that they actually have the codes this time before we go through the effort of trying to steal from them.

[x] Make a Counter-Offer

-[x] Consult Mirage on how much this tech is actually worth and follow her recommendation

Doofenshmirtz Negotiation Roll:

35+18+24=77

Opposed Negotiation Roll:

94+45+35=174
Critical Failure!

Mirage may be a pretty skilled diplomat, but it's become clear that David is in another league entirely. Trying to get more out of Xanatos was like getting your teeth pulled with a very personable dentist. While you weren't able to get any more money from him, you were able to wring out one concession: monthly get-togethers!

Every month or two, you and the biggest man on the East Coast will be getting together to chat about your lives and be good, personable friends~ Just think of all the cool stuff you could find out!

...Honestly, considering whom we were dealing with, us "shitting the bed" on trying to get more money outta that deal with David was to be expected.

That being said, I don´t really see this result a Critical Failure, guys.

Sure, we didn´t get any more Income outta that deal than what he was offering from the start and him knowing more of our dealings than and before everyone else because Doof can´t keep his trap shut (David still being our rival and all despite our relatively benign relations), let´s be honest:

*What of all the stuff we´ve been doing and are planning to do do we really and explicitly not want Xanatos to know*

Next to none, if any at all.

Because in the end, none of our plans have been geared towards harming him even indirectly - hell, if anything many of our plans involving him have been slanted towards *cooperation*. So there isn´t much of a change with that get-together happening.

Now that I´m thinking about it, we actually could spin that get-together in a positive way and use it as a way to personally exchange messages with David that we need to be relayed without much fuss - speaking of that, I don´t think that our warning to David regarding Kat was relayed at all on account of that bit not getting voted for often enough to count.

Am I right in that suspicion, @Made in Heaven ?

Opinion: -5

Evil Benefits +5
The Old Country: -10 (Drusselstein was horrible. Decays September/October 2017)
The Perfect Lair: +10 (Roddy's new lair is a dream come true, even if it is a little eviler than he initially planned.)
This should be 5

With that in mind: if wendy works on the hubs and roddy does the plant then they each have a CoS of 50% and 51%(with exp)

In hindsight, even though I know it wasn't, the counter offer feels like a trap option. Now as a price for even considering getting a better amount we're given compromised security.

Looking at the stat difference it feels like the risk of a counter offer wasn't explained at all.

Yeah, in retrospect we should have accounted for David outwitting us completly.

I´ll simply point out that I actually was against trying to renegotiate the price of our tech and only went with it because I just couldn´t be arsed to argue about it.

How exactly do you intend to do it?
How much detail would be required for the write in to be valid?

Would something like this count?
- Try to track down the thief of the Declaration of Independence

Would it require more specifics?
- Covertly Investigate the scene of theft of the Declaration of Independence to find the trail of the thief

Something that mentions a hero would work? (Not the actual write in just for the example)
- Have NOWCA use their cover as normal animals to covertly search for clues across the Nation

I mean.

We attempted to renegotiate our agreement with one of the slipperiest, schemiest, most manipulative characters in all of fiction.

And we know that Doof has something of a naive, trusting, occasionally even gullible streak.

And we rolled in the '30s on a d100. And he rolled in the '90s.

A result slightly worse for us is to be expected.

A note due to discussion; repair actions do not have to be big ideas.
Er, remind me what the implication of that is?

Does it mean we can't assign Phineas and Ferb to the power plant option, for instance?

Although we might not want to do that anyway, I'm just trying to make sure I can parse what you're telling us.

None of the above. In order for us to give you a DC on a write-in, it needs to be clear what you are telling your employees to do. Are you telling them to break in to the national archives and search for clues? Are you telling them to try and search the black market for anyone selling the Declaration on the lowdown?

If you just do a write-in to 'track down the thief', the hero unit will do whatever the heck they want to in pursuit of that. They could do literally anything based on their temperament, intelligence, subtlety, loyalty, and more. And therefore we can't really give you a DC.

The Big Idea trait won't proc.

Big Ideas: The world has never seen engineers like Phineas and Ferb. Any Stewardship action related to construction, creation, or otherwise 'Big Idea-able' attempted with Phineas and Ferb that succeeds will automatically critically succeed. However, the DC is also boosted by 20, as they are not content to stay within the boundaries you laid out on paper.

This DC must still be passed in order to actually keep the project, as anything below the DC will result in a set of random circumstances mysteriously conspiring to wipe all traces of their project from existence. A bare failure will not reduce the DC on further turns.

In addition, a project can only be attempted once with this unit- if they fail, they will not try the same action twice. The same restrictions apply to their products as your inators- they can't be mass produced, they can't be replicated more than once, and you can't bypass technology developments using them.

Phineas and Ferb cannot get bare failures, but they can still get critical failures.

It would have helped if there was even a single mention of an opposed roll, I personally was under the impression it was going to be a flat yes or no, not an opposed roll heavily stacked against us. As a result I feel duped.

As I just pointed out, after everything is said and done the result isn´t even that bad for us and can even be turned around to something *positive* for us.

Considering that we lost that haggling attempt by about 100 points, I´d say that far worse could have happened to us.

...It was a *negotiation over what amount was to be transferred for some tech rights*

In retrospect it obviously was meant to be a diplo contest - so we kinda walked into that "trap".

I mean, my intention when making that vote was quite literally asking what Mirage thought the tech was worth and giving that as what we were asking for, lol.

Zootopia as a placeholder until we can think of a way for Monogram to investigate National Treasure.

Upgrade Normbots DC went down by 35. Most likely because they are currently down. We'll need to upgrade them anyway, so doing it while they are already down is the perfect opportunity.

We would still have to haggle with David to *get* her estimate, so it was all the same in the end.

[ ] Plan: Chasing Kats and Cash

...Honestly? I´d be totally on board with that plan - so consider it having my vote for now already.

So, generally speaking I don't like complaining. This thread has provided me with considerable amounts of entertainment over more than a year and represents a titanic amount of effort for the GMs, so saying this makes me uncomfortable.

That said, I think that DC 130 is a bit rough for something that was described as a couple of "moderate difficulty" actions. Unless I am fumbling my figures, there is a worse than even chance of accomplishing either repair action even if we put our top Stewardship characters there.
