I don't think it particularly likely, but I don't think its impossible that Doom might be a negaverse toon.

It would allow him to be a killer toon without some sort of special trick.

Like I said, highly unlikely.

CCG(Children's Card Game)-Inator

Your latest inator has created a hot new card game for everyone in your territory to play, with cards based on you, your employees, and people who know around the country! It proves to be rather popular, but also incredibly addictive... You gain a permanent +4 to your Income, but for the next turn your Hero Units' personal actions have a 50% chance of being forced into picking the personal action "Play Children's Card Game".
Now my brain is making more of these, thanks to seeing this due to needing to catch up:

Children's Card Game Inator(Positive)

Your latest inator has created a hot new card game for everyone in your territory to play, with cards based on you, your employees, and people who know around the country! Incidentally, it seems a person in the holograms business loved it too, and was willing to strike a deal with you! You can either get a +1 to your income plus and extra +3 for 3 months due to basically free advertising, or you can get your megacorp a brand new Holograph Suite for +2 income permanently.

Children's Card game Inator(Negative)

Your latest inator has created a hot new card game for everyone in your territory to play, with cards based on you, your employees, and people who know around the country! This is... a bad thing, however, because against all odds you've managed to recreate a potent magical combat ritual and mass produced it. While not everyone will be taking this addictive card game seriously and everyone with an investment in the Magical Masquerade will be doing their best to keep a lid on it, this will result in a noticeable hit in it due to card game duels bringing about magically enforced stakes and betting - often involving the fate of people's souls at the best of times. Be thankful that your efforts to do your part in fixing your mistake aren't costing you more money than what the game is bringing in.

This is my personal headcanon for Doom after all this talk about Black Humor and Small Audience. His brand of humor might be acceptable if he didn't actively kill people with it, but as that act is intrinsically antithetical to Toons who are meant to bring joy and laughter to people not tears and terror it causes intense self hatred in Doom which he channels into hating other Toons and killing them and turning the public against them- if the public thinks Toons are dangerous then he might feel a sense of validation. And it might also have a more sinister purpose because if he manages to kill every other Toon then he will be the only one with access to the Toonforce and he might become the template of what is considered "funny" to the Toonforce and every Toon that comes after that will be just like him.
Thoughts on this?

Well, on the plus side, I think that Phantom Blot might just try to help Russ deal with this. After all, I'm pretty sure Russ' understanding of Toons was a large part of what he appreciated about Russ, and he wouldn't want to lose that. Especially not because of Doom.

"Bonkers!" Ludivine whispers as Mirage releases her ears. "Your utter lack of comedic timing saved us all!"

"It did?" Bonkers asked. "Really? I was good fer somethin'?!? YAHOOO!!!!"
Now that's funny.

Damn, both Russ and Bonkers could use a hug

Tht diplomacy roll with the Blot was pretty great too so it'll be interesting to see what he' sbeen up to

Toon-inator (neutral): One night you had a dream where you were a character in a cartoon. Crazy, right? This inator can make your dream reality. Next turn, all characters everywhere are toons and possess the Joking Around and Rubberhose traits.

Let's give Doom an aneurysm. And we'll get that Xanatos spittake at some point.

... I can't even begin t imagine the amount of chaos that would cause for millions if not billions of people to suddenly be effected by the toonforce and have no experience controlling it

And wouldn't that be delicious. Also, sudden "everybody experiences the being a toon experience" probably generates a lot of toon sympathy going forward.

Or people go the *opposite direction* in reasoning and start demanding harsher conditions for Toons "to keep their mad powers contained for the good of all"
Yeah, well, for every sympathizer there's an asshole. That's just humanity right there

It certainly would push people towards the extremes--which makes the Joking Around trait all the more appropriate.

"What was that?!?" the weasel whipped around.

Bonkers slapped his hands over his mouth, but it was too late.

The best comedy is unexpected.

Goddammit, Bonkers. I'd throw you in a vat of Dip if Doom didn't already plan to do that to you.

As much as I like my version, I kinda like the silliness of this more...

Now, ND might operate on similar rules or maybe his Negaverse origin is throwing the Toonforce for a loop, like Russ tries to reason to protect his positively.discriminating views on Toons.
Good point, he might have figured out a way to keep to what the 'audience' in the Negaverse considers funny (remember that most people are evil there, except for a bare handful of counterparts of evil people from the canon universe, who are good but outnumbered).

Speculating on Doom's ability to murder using the toon force... I have to wonder if the toon force is an active force, or a reactive force. Does it define funny, or is it defined by funny. If the theory about Doom using his own definition of funny to enable himself to commit murders, that opens up a rather disturbing door.

The setting is a darker, more cynical place. Dark jokes, black humor, and cynical one liners are a lot more common, and probably hit more often than pure silliness.

What if that's what he's using Hollywood for? He controls the media, he defines what is funny, so what if he spreads his twisted humor to the rest of the world? What if everyone had a sick, twisted sense of humor like Doom, what if everyone saw people like the Joker as the pinnacle of humor? Could he commit mass murder because it was amusing? Start a war because it was so ridiculous? And that's just for starters.

Would the shift in humor affect other toons? Would it corrupt them into acting in a similar manner, because they are defined by what is funny? Or would they remain the same, but be rendered essentially mortal? Unable to use the toon force because they don't agree with the gags demands, would And what if someone tries to kill them? What if they just get hit by a car one day, would that be the end?

After all, dying because "I don't want to" is kind of funny, isn't it?

Now I want some kind of "Analyze the Toon Force" option.

I am contractually obligated to bring up an mlp scene

This is what you get for analysing the toon force

That being said, that particular episode sparked a lot of controversy for its supposed anti-science message of "some things you just have to BELIEVE in and not be overly critical about"...especially since Twilight gets outright HOSPITALIZED for daring to question Deus Ex Machina, which is admittedly iffy

Out of curiosity I wanted to really see just how much we succeed vs fail in general, so here is a small round up that might just qualify as mildly interesting:

(Inside of a spoiler tag because its kind of a bunch of useless trivia)

Of 122 National Actions (to simplify I won't count quests, Personal Actions or Nemesis Actions) we have failed 17.
2 of those failures were changed to successes by external forces (Build the Toontown Railroad and Investigate Supervillain Attacks)
Of those failures 5 have been Stewardship actions, 4 Intrigue and Martial, 3 Learning and 1 Occult.
We have managed to not fail any Diplomacy action for the moment

If you don't count the 2 failures that were changed we have a perfect 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0 spread of failures.
We had :
- 4 turns with 0 failures (turns 2, 3, 8, 9)
- 5 turns with 1 (turns 1, 6, 7, 10, 11)
- 3 turns with 2 (turns 4, 5, 12)
- 2 turns with 3 (turns 13, 14)

If we separate by number of actions taken in each category we have:
- 10/14 Martial actions
- 19/19 Diplomacy actions
- 19/24 Stewardship actions
- 19/23 Intrigue actions
- 28/31 Learning actions
- 10/11 Occult actions

Other trivia, all of our Martial failures have been on the first 6 turns and all of our Stewardship failures have been on the last 5 turns.

To be fair, DoofOS is bringing the Stewardship statistics down. We took what, two consecutive failures on it?

Our 5 Stewardship failures have been:
- Develop a new Social Media Platform (turn 10) (needed roll 13 got 10)
- Improve DoofOs Security (turn 12) (needed roll 38 got 3)
- Improve DoofOs Security (turn 13) (needed roll 53 got 51 and 35)
- Host a company retreat (turn 13) (needed roll 7 got 6)
- Restore DoofOs Security (turn 14) (needed roll 53 got 33)
