You lean back on the grassy dirt and let out of deep sigh of contentment. It feel good to relax, especially on a day as beautiful as today. The sun is shining brightly and some long and wispy clouds are floating across the sky. They slightly cover the sun stopping it's glare from being to harsh and providing a light shade. Grass tickles the back of your neck slightly but you don't mind. You close your eyes, baskinging in the pleasant warmth of the sun's rays. Gradually you let the world fade away just enjoying the experience.

Oh. There it is. Now that you are relaxed and have nothing to distract you, you notice the little nagging feeling in the back of your head. Now you noticed it, it becomes impossible to ignore. For as long as you could remember you had this thing inside your head. Like as switch or button that you could press with a thought. it wouldn't be that bad on it's own, but whenever you thought about it being pressed you felt terrified. A deep painful pressure in your chest best described the panic you felt. As if pressing it would cause you to lose everything you had ever cared about. That fear was as irrational as as having a switch in you mind in the first place but you were apparently not a rational creature. You quickly try to think about something else and climb to your feet, no longer feeling like laying down. Looking around you see several things that you could think about to distract you from the button. You are in a park with a large water fountain in front of you. It really is a work of art. Such a beautiful sculpting would surely take your mind off the switch.

Damn it.

It's fine, you just have to not think about the thing that will ruin everying if you think about it, until you forget about it. Sigh. Maybe this was actually a problem. Your phone vibrates in your pocket distracting you from the switch and you quickly fish it out. You have a text from an Alex Sue: "Where are you? We were supposed to meet at twelve o'clock." Huh? What are they…

[X]Oh shit. You were supposed to meet up with your friend for coffee today. It was the holiday after your uni final exams and you had promised each other to meet up so you didn't slowly drift away. Wow. You must have really gotten into your sky gazing session in order to forget. You had been looking forward to this all week, if only to get some sympathy for your barely passing grade.

[X]Ugh. You'd trying to forget about this meeting. Your dad had taken you to get a diagnosis for autism a while ago, that you didn't want, and now he was pushing you to go to meetings with some stupid care worker. They alway tried to do stupid 'fun' things, it was a waste of time. You were 14 years old and having someone look after you as you went out was quite frankly embarrassing.

[X]Wow you must be getting forgetful in your old age. Or at least that is the joke Alex will be telling later today. It's your 60th birthday today and you were planning on spending some time drinking with an old friend of yours. A good pint with a good friend is all you need to celebrate one more year of life. The patrons are pretty generous when it comes to birthdays as well so you might not even have to pay for it.

[X]Who the hell was this and how did they get your number!? Enraged confusion aside you think it might be a text ment for someone else and quickly message them back telling them they have the wrong number.

[X]Flip the switch.

Oh shit. You were supposed to meet up with your friend for coffee today. You can practically feel the world shift as you remember. It was the holiday after your uni final exams and you had promised each other to meet up so you didn't slowly drift away. Wow. You must have really gotten into your sky gazing session in order to forget. You had been looking forward to this all week, if only to get some sympathy for your barely passing grade.

You quickly text Alex back saying you will be right there doing your best to put the switch to the back of your mind.

You reach down and grab your rucksack from the ground and throw it on your back not even bothering to shake the dirt from it. Sprinting to meet deadlines was something you had gotten quite good at in Uni, both in a metaphorical sense and a real one. You had once woke up 20 minutes before a project was due in and had to run, in your pajamas, all the way across campus to your professor's office. It was not a proud day for you. Forgetting about that, and another thing, you peel out the park at a brisk jog. It really was a pleasant day you think, as the wind rushes through your hair. You think you might lead Alex back to the park once you both get a drink and have a sort of picnic.

You jog for a while, feeling at home in the busy city, and eventually come to the store front of one 'hugs with mugs' coffee shop. It was a nice cosy store with an inviting aroma and a cute logo of a little baby mug being hugged by a larger mug. Sure the name sounded a little dumb but you would be damned if it wasn't the best coffeeshop in a hundred miles. Despite yourself you hoped the shop wouldn't get any more popular; you didn't want it to get filled to the brim with those who weren't worthy to tased the sweet nectar of the gods this place served.

Speaking of the unworthy, Alex was sat on one of the chairs outside drinking hot chocolate of all things.

Despicable.

You call out with an loud "Hello!" but feel a little award as all the other patron look at you. You were a little too loud. You smile an embarrassed smile as Alex looks up from their cup. Looking straight at them you can't help but think about how there was something off about the way they looked. You're not the type of person to judge based on looks though and slide into the seat next to them.

"And here I thought coffee was your first priority?" Alex askes. You open your mouth to reply and then close it. You quickly slide out of the seat and make a beeline for the counter.

"Aww come on." they cry and you completely ignore them. You get to the counter and order your usual: the house special. Since the picnic idea is still fresh on you mind you order it to-go as well.

The barista, a petite girl whom you don't recognize, asks you what name you want written on the cup. Huh, the girl must be new, you'd been a regular here for so long that you couldn't remember you need to give your name. In pause, you think for a moment before saying…

So the vote is closed. Let me know if you think I am closing these to quickly. I just feel since this section is being written is short chunks, I should have the interval between then be small as well.
