Disciples of Red Dew Sect (Cultivation Riot Quest)

Space Jawa, I know you in particular had your own action in mind, but with your 1/3 progress for the technique, you stand a very realistic chance of completing the technique outright with this action. I would also argue that the best way to emulate the Late Baron would be to study his ways in depth before taking action, and what better way to do that then to learn the technique he left behind for all who attended his Sect?

You're making a compelling argument. I'm not completely sold yet, but mind is very open to being swayed. There's a mix of 'OK but there's a mission deliberately oriented toward acting in memory of the Red Dew Baron (which is very much the explicit dedicated path of the character)' and the new reveal of the mass dice to be earned from the general lecture opportunities holding me back.

I think that I may need to know that all the relevant information regarding the situation is on the table, and possibly having the argument being made In Character - the core reason for my current plan related to IC reasons that I'm still hung up on, and so on some level it feels necessary that the argument for changing to a different plan be made convincingly In Character.

Hmm I sense great potential in this fight club dont suppose any of the more martial disciples would be interested in such a thing

I might, if I decide to go that path.

Again, my image of Body Cultivation is from ACS where I had a Body Cultivator kill a Spirit Cultivator in one shot by dealing 100 Thousand+ damage.

And that was before he entered his rage state. I know that's not likely what it is like here, but it's the image I have.

That's fair, and I'll be up front about some of the things we don't strictly know at this stage.

So first, Elixirs. If Elixirs can be used for Technique training, this significantly alters the odds of everyone getting at least 2 successes out of the action, and ups the chance some of us might get 3.

And the other things is Elder help. Now, this'll involve input from @SomeDude134 , as I am unsure if they'd be willing or able to provide us the same level of bonus that the upcoming Lecture could.

Assuming everyone is on board, then we would need a total of 21 successes for everyone to learn the Red Dew Technique. I'll see if I can't whip up some math to give you some better odds on that, I'll need to tally up everyone's dice and chuck it into a Binomial probability calculator. From there, I can work out the minimal level of Elder assistance we'd theoretically need to stand a good chance of getting everyone trained up.

As for the IC roleplay, I am perfectly willing to start that up once I've gotten all the math done!

EDIT:

So, if only the 7 Disciples mentioned previously participate, then our odds aren't looking so good. There's a 27.44% chance of us getting 1 or more with just our main dice. But if we include our auxiliary dice, those have an 88.72% chance of awarding us 2 or more successes. So, all in all, not great on our own.

So, let's assume that we A. Can't use Elixirs for this, and that B. None of us can apply any Friend bonuses we may have to the rolls. How many dice would we need from an Elder to get us to at least a 95% chance of completely training the technique? I'm aware that the maths I'm about to do aren't going to hold to proper statistical scrutiny, but I'm giving it the best I've got.

So:
2 or more successes on combined main dice = .99415
1 or more successes on combined Aux dice = .98023
.99415*.982023 = .97449

So 3 successes on our base dice is 97.449%

We'd need 18 to get to 21.

18 or more success on 50 Elder dice = .98358

.98358*.97449 = .95849

So, in order to have 95% chance for everyone to completely train their Red Technique to completeness, we would need 50 dice from Elder assistance on our collective action.

IC: Wuyin is currently steaming from doing so much complex math that she barely understands.

..odd question. Making new techniques possible? Or at least derivations? Or is it advised to take note from what has been proven so far?

Both of them are possible. Gets easier when you're in a higher realm, IE, if one of the Elders tries to make something to help one of you peasants. Because our control of our bodies and Qi is just so much finer than yours. Funfact, any random elder could kill you with a single DROP of Qi.

The Cosmic Dice are rattling menacingly in Wuyin's head right now.

Anyway, maths are done. Though the math WILL change if Elixirs are on the table.

Anyway, figure I may as well get the RP started up @Space Jawa

---

Wuyin head was spinning with sounds of rolling dice and whirling ideas, and it felt like her brain would start leaking if she continued thinking about them for too long.

And ultimately, ideas alone would mean nothing in this world. Just more things in her head to spill out when something or someone crushed her skull underfoot.

Wuyin did what she had done not so long ago.

Go out and talk to people. Specifically, someone who she believed was a friend: Mei Qin.

"Hello Friend! So much has been happening, and yet it's only been a month! So many things, so many ideas, that I fear I must determine which ones to prune. And I know you yourself had plans as well, so I believed it best we discuss things between us! So permit the chance to be clear about my own plans."

Wuyin cleared her throat, and did her best to pare down her thoughts into something she could actually understand.

"... I believe that the key to our future as Disciples lies in learning the Red Dew Technique. You've already started on the first steps of that path, I believe. I wish to gather the group which so valiantly fought the disorder of the Technique Pavillion once more to ask the honorable Elder Huo Jiezuo if he would be so willing to give advice on the training of the Red Dew Technique, and use said advice to train and hopefully learn this technique together, as a group. But I understand that you had your own plans for collective action as well?"

Would doing something in roaring furnace city require a travel action and a regular action or is it possible to do something there and return to the sect with a single action since it is so close?

Pan TingFeng is considering the merits of riceballs laced with Red Dew liquor and poppy milk for forgetting about attracting the attention of the scary Elder drugging Granite Pheasants to make them easier to fight/capture.
I think this would require the auxiliary action as making the drugged bait.
Does this interest you?
@KreenWarrior Wanna join?

(Small side note but @Arcanestomper , can Elixirs be used to help train techniques?)

The short answer is no. The long answer is that elixirs are specific to types of actions. So there are elixirs that could help you learn a technique. But the Body Tempering Elixir is not applicable.

Do we have to specifically state that we are collaborating on missions?

It would help me if you did. Though if the mission is already collaborative in nature I'll just assume that everyone is working together.

I don't think I have the technique also what does ite do? My path a boxer I don't think it shouldn't to my path

You can learn other techniques without affecting your path. It's just that you'll probably be stronger in what you specialize in.

Quick question can we give other players stuff and if so would it be an action. (totally not working out the logistics of making an outer disciple gambling ring.)

Yes, as long as both players agree it would be a free action.

..odd question. Making new techniques possible? Or at least derivations? Or is it advised to take note from what has been proven so far?

Yes, you can, but it will be relatively hard for a peasant cultivator to figure it out. As you don't really have the theoretical knowledge needed to make new techniques other than through trial and error.

By the way how powerful does the average cultivator get?

Assuming they aren't killed obviously

Depends on your exact definition of average. But by sheer numbers the peasant realm is as high as most people get.

Would doing something in roaring furnace city require a travel action and a regular action or is it possible to do something there and return to the sect with a single action since it is so close?

Since it's just down the mountain you won't need to travel there.

@moon-llama @CedeTheBees @KreenWarrior

Okay, the general plan for drugging the Granite Pheasants is to prepare a load of small rice balls, then dip them in a mixture of Red Dew Liquor and any narcotics we can get our hands on.
Can't use anything poisonous though, as these are for a feast. Wouldn't want to damage the flavour.

Then we leave the rice balls somewhere the Pheasants will find them and hopefully they will be easy enough to take down within an hour or two.
Note that we still need muscle for this plan. I doubt this will knock them out easily. If they were easy opponents, we wouldn't be trying to sedate them first. Come ready for a fight.

@rush99999 We could use your unique skills for this plan, if you are interested. Sorry, I missed you on the first ping.
If anyone wishes to join in on this dope plan, you are welcome.

I don't know how much we need to coordinate actions for this.
But I expect we do something like this:
[] Disciple Name
-[] Main Action: Use drugged bait to help catch the Granite Pheasants for Elder Zhang
--[] (Any special way you wish to assist.)
-[] Auxiliary Action: Help prepare the drugged bait
--[] (Any special way you wish to assist.)

[X] Trần An Giang
-[X] Main Action: Work on Cultivation Base (Fortune Substitution) (physical cultivation elixir)
-[X] Auxiliary Action: Search the public sect gardens for a suitable place to cultivate a mindset of growth to help the main action(Fortune Substitution)

Wuyin found Mei Qin at work in preparation. Having seen the notice posted by Elder Ping Jingai, the young lady was already planning how to best be situated to assist with the task.

"Greetings, my friend." Mei Qin said with her ever-gentle voice, a soft smile on her face. She gave the short, polite bow that was her custom. "You are quite correct. If you have not yet seen it, Elder Jingai has put out a call to go forth as living examples of our late Baron's wisdom. Having sworn to ensure his example does not die with him, it is a call that I simply must answer."
