[X] [Mitsu] "I think she'll at least be open to working with your famiglia, but maybe not the others and definitely only when on the job. She's might like the Vendetta compared to a lot others, but she follows her own code as well."

You felt a little out of place speaking for your partner, but at the same time, you were her Fixer now. You had to have a good hand on what sort of jobs and clients she would be comfortable working with. She was trusting you to handle that and all the others background info while she was the muscle that focused on getting stuff done. So you spoke for her now, hoping you weren't overstepping. "I think she'll at least be open to working with your famiglia, but maybe not the others and definitely only when on the job."

"Just an associate?" Erika asked with a slightly disappointed, but understanding tone. "What a shame. I think she would fit well, but you have a better measure on what she's like."

"Don't take it the wrong way, especially because she has a good appreciation for the Vendetta. But I really doubt that she's going to limit herself to your gang so," You elaborated while twisting a dial on the coffee machine to finally let the hot steam warm the drink in your hands. "She might like the Vendetta compared to a lot others, but she follows her own code as well."

The young assassin hummed and helped wipe down the nozzle when you were finished. "That, we can at least respect," Erika finally admitted with a nod. "Or at least the ones I work with. I'm sure that a lot others don't share my commitment, but it's nice having colleagues that can."

Before you could comment on that, the front door to your shop suddenly slid open and none other than Mitsu raced in with wide eyes. Her head snapped around and spotted you, a cry spilling from her lips in an excited yell. "Yuuki, your- huh?" She fumbled her words, spying Erika standing next to you. "Who might this be?'

You quickly introduced your first two employees to one another and Erika perked up when she connected the dots. "You're the one who took on EGO Security, right? At their corporate officers, no less?"

The Lycoris Third's cheeks flushed for a moment and she coughed. "It wasn't just I alone, I was blessed with backup from a Netrunner, a master of her craft no less. She alone handled the most dangerous aspects, whilst I simply the one with the gun."

"Don't sell yourself short, I distinctly remember you holding out alone against both office security and a response team until I was done," Said Netrunner mentioned while descending down the stairs, her head cocked in curiosity. "What's all the noise here about?"

Mitsu seemed to finally recall her message and waved her hands about frantically while turning back to you. "Yuuki, Yuuki! Your flowers, they have blossomed most beautifully!"

Your heart shot up into your throat and you hastily stepped around the counter with clear eagerness. Now it was time for you to stumble over your words, not sure what to say about your very first blooms. "I-I suppose I should have a look, oh kami!" You exclaimed with a stutter, as if just told you were now a parent to children of all things. "But, training's not yet done-"

Then you felt a gentle push on your back. It was Erika, and she gave a small laugh at the distressed expression on your face. "I can tell between you two, this is big, so go on! I think I saw them earlier on the way in, so I can understand your nervousness. Just take a break and have a gander. I can even take pictures if you like."

"Pictures!" Mitsu gasped and ran to the supply closet, already undoing her clothes. Arisu gave a teasing wolf whistle and was rewarded with the bike jacket being flung into her face. "I must be clothed most appropriately for this occasion! I will be with you shortly!"

True to her word, barley moments after the privacy door was closed, your partner burst back out, stumbling and hastily adjusting her newly don maid dress. Now there were three in service costumes, all of them the total sum of employees for Kagoshima Fragrance. The only one present not in uniform was Arisu, who was very much not a member of the flower cafe you wished to open.

Finally after a little bit more of hand wringing and fumbling words, the door to your flower garden slid open and you let out a loud gasp when you beheld your very first flowers.

(Flower Garden (Red Spider Lily): 88 +20 (Tending Bonus) = 108)

Arisu peaked around your frozen form and her eyes shot up. "Well now. Ignoring the rather interesting choice of species, this…my word."

"Boss, now that I'm looking at them properly, they look just...amazing. Nova. Preem," Erika summarized with a slightly excited look. "Is this your natural touch around flowers? If so, this place's going to bloom like these!"

"Bloom beautifully, bloom nobly, bloom lively!" Mitsu sang and squeezed past you to do a little dance. "Congratulations Yuuki, you have created life!"

Your hands shook as they slowly raised to press against your warm cheeks. Even though the touch of your left arm was dulled by the machine, the sensation of wet fluids pressing into your digits was unmistakable. Bit by bit, your fingers crept up to encompass your eyes, trying to rub at your rapidly blurring vision that was being obscured by overwhelming tears.

Tears of happiness.

For a moment, perhaps you saw it. Your fingers stained in red blood, clutching a smoking pistol. A corpse at your feet, the first takedown having not finished them off. So you had to finish the job yourself, for the organization that had taken you in and given purpose to this life of yours.

But now, your heads were now coated in the red of vibrant life as you ran them carefully through the unfurled Lycoris Radiata. Once where you had believed you could only take away life, you now sowed it anew, however minor it was. For a moment, you wished never to pluck them, perhaps hoping to preserve their fleeting existence however possible.

Then reason kicked in. You had to carefully harvest them to actually made sure their beauty would never wither. They were at their prime now, and if you lingered, they would soon fade away. You hesitated, then turned to your employees with a wide smile. "Let's take pictures of these now, then of our bouquets made from them. Each of you, take a turn holding them. Arisu, could you be the photographer?"

"I'd be honored to help," The Netrunner promised and you held your hand to your chest for a moment, grateful for your life so far. All the bumps in the road, all the suffering, it felt worth it for this exact moment.

Even the dwindling numbers of your bank account couldn't damper your mood at all.

Kagoshima Fragrance (Kaori)
-[ ] [Kagoshima Fragrance] Fix the Van: The Scavs had a cheap utility van that's gotten shot up pretty badly, but you think you could maybe fix it back up. It could be handy for either an infusion of cash to your new business or an asset for the business itself. Try your hand at being a mechanic for a bit.

-[ ] [Kagoshima Fragrance] Grand Opening: All the preparations are finished, and you're ready! Formally open the doors to your newest venture and behold the results of your labors. Then get to work to try and begin making some revenue.

-[ ] [Kagoshima Fragrance] Candidate Interview: Make some calls and try to arrange for a good time to sit down with a potential employee candidate to get an idea of what they could bring to help out.
-[ ] The student, Osaka Hatate

[ ] [Kagoshima Fragrance] Hire Employee:
Send a message and finalize the paperwork for hiring a new cafe employee!
-[ ] The unemployed, Morales Hinata

-[ ] [Kagoshima Fragrance] Advertise Word:
Go spreading fliers and putting up posters of the soon-to-be-opened Kagoshima Fragrance around the neighborhood to try and drum up interest for the eventual grand opening. The more buzz you create, the more attention could be drawn to the big moment.

-[ ] [Kagoshima Fragrance] Ocha Plantation: A tea plantation that supplies your cafe with seasonal flowers in bulk, one of your shop's main products. Take a visit to see if you can buy some new flower seeds from them.

-[ ] [Kagoshima Fragrance] International Standard: To provide high quality authentic coffee, you've turned to rely on purchasing your beverage ingredients from a well-known corporation that specializes in imports. They surely should have an expert when it comes to picking specific ingredients, so pay them a visit to see if you can perhaps improve your blends.

Flower Cultivation
-[ ] [Flower Cultivation] Ocha Plantation: A tea plantation that supplies your cafe with seasonal flowers in bulk, one of your shop's main products. Take a visit to see if you can buy some new flower seeds from them.

-[ ] [Flower Cultivation] Sow Seeds: You've got your hands on some seeds that you want to begin growing! Take some time to till the soil, plant the gardens, and watch new life being to sprout.
--[ ] You currently have no seeds.

[ ] [Flower Cultivation] Tend to Gardens: Devote a part of your week entirely to making sure you tend to the gardens as diligently as possible, plucking out weeds and making sure each sprout gets just the right amount of water and conditions to grow splendidly.

None

Shinohara Securities
-[ ] [Shinohara Securities] Visit the Office: You've made a contact in the form of Security Chief Azumi, the leader of an elite corporate police task force. Pay her a visit to chat and see what opportunities she can offer you.

-[ ] [Shinohara Securities] Part-Time Patrol: As Shinohara Securities was perpetually shorthanded, they didn't have enough security patrols going around to keep the neighborhood safe. They've offered to pay you a fair sum to do so in their place. It'd be like a Lycoris patrol, but this time, you get paid!

Secondborn Ronin
-[ ] [Secondborn Ronin] Visit the Pauper: The Pauper is the Fixer of the Secondborn Ronin and is a bridge between the corporate world and streets. Go to the public library to chat with them about what opportunities they can offer you.

The Vendetta
-[ ] [The Vendetta] Schedule a Ripper: La Peste is a mysterious but talented RipperDoc who has offered their expertise if you wish to see them for a health checkup or discrete cyberware surgery. See if they have an opening in their schedule to meet them.

Lycoris Graduate
-[ ] [Lycoris Graduate] Call a Lycoris: There's times where you miss the organization, as unbelievable as that might sound given their grim task. You certainly don't hold it against any of the other Lycoris and want to have a chat with them to see how they're doing.
--[ ] The Commander
--[ ] Misaki Arisu
--[ ] Nakaiji Momiji

Living Life
-[ ] [Living Life] Browse the Library: The public library in your neighborhood has a wide selection of information datashards covering a variety of topics. You can read them to your heart's content in the facility, or you could pay a fee to make a copy and take it home to study.

-[ ] [Living Life] Find a Black Market: As so many things are restricted from sale or possession in Japan, you can only find these prohibited items at a black market somewhere. They're surprisingly common enough if you know where to look, though having some caution about the quality of their myriad of wares is a smart idea.

-[ ] [Living Life] Go Clubbing: Risk the nightlife of the city and visit one of the many neon hangouts around the city to experience something new, maybe even meet some new folks or have magical encounters.

-[ ] [Living Life] The Way: Mitsu's offered to take some time out of her week to help train you in the sword and by extension, other melee weapons. You even had a great dojo to practice in, so it was time to spar to your heart's content.

Miscellaneous
-[ ] [Miscellaneous] Scrap the Van: It's not worth your time or effort to patch it up. Rip it apart and find a seller for the parts.

Available Bouquets (Max 2 per turn)
--[ ] Red Spider Lily: The Lycoris flower, the undeniable flower closest to symbolizing who you are before, now, and forever more. Its presence is enough to invigorate you like never before, and you find yourself giving it your very best. Action Effect: Yuuki gains one (1) reroll for this action. This is doubled if Excellent quality.
---[ ] Normal: 0 (Value: 1,000eb)
---[ ] Good: 0 (Value: 1,500eb)
---[ ] Excellent: 1 (Value: 2,000eb)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- And so, the first bloom hits, and my word. What an occasion! As you can see now, flower bouquets are going to be how Yuuki digs deep to get some powerful temporary effects, either for important actions, gigs, or big sales. You can use one bouquet per action, and a maximum of two per turn when you start getting a lot.
- I'll make mention that as you've been purposefully timing your opening for these, there is a hidden bonus effect in choosing to use this bouquet for the opening.

Six hour moratorium to come up with a weekly plan.

(Call a Lycoris (Nakaiji Momiji): 6)

The call went to voicemail again and you hung your head with a haggard sigh and frustrated expression. Once again, you had tried to contact your fellow graduate Lycoris to try and invite her to finally complete the assembled group of Lycoris here in Kagoshima, at least for the opening of your cafe, but it seemed like that really wasn't happening. Momiji simply wasn't picking up any of your calls or responding to any other forms of communication.

It was as if she had fallen off the face of the Earth, and that worried you to no end.

There was a quiet hiss when your newest employee deftly worked a coffee machine, his hands nimbly twisting dials to let off excess steam before attempting a practice cup, one that was near-perfect. Yet even then, he had enough focus to spare on talking to you. "You don't look so hot, boss. Do you need a moment?"

Before you could immediately deny it, the other outsider to the circle spoke up, concern in her voice. "You look like you've just received bad news," Erika mentioned from where she was watching his expertise in action. "I don't think customers want to see that look on what should be your happiest day."

"It's…" You hesitated for a moment before shaking your head. "Fine. Fine, I need a moment to refresh myself upstairs. I won't be long though, not when we're supposed to be opening our doors for the first time in just a few minutes!"

"We'll be looking forward to it!" Erika excitedly called out, only to pointedly elbow Hinata who simply shrugged. She gave him a fierce glare that he rolled his eyes at in a carefree manner. The two definitely had different attitudes when it came to work, with matching differing specialties and expertise that didn't necessarily mix well. But that was why you decided to bring Hinata onboard in the end. You wanted him to be the ideal face of the public front to Kaori, with his perfect mix of customer service and cooking skills. Erika was more suited to the little side business you were running on the side in comparison.

Ideally, once everything got rolling, the two of them would neatly fit into your plans and become the specialists in their respective fields you needed.

Speaking of specialists, the Netrunner specialist Arisu was sitting at the common kitchen table, frowning at something. Her fingers twitched as if she was interacting with a mouse and keyboard, the telltale bright glow of her eyes meaning that she was engrossed in looking at something through her opticware. You settled for stepping past her to grab a cold drink to hopefully clear your mind and she finally noticed you when the fridge door slammed shut. "Yuuki."

You paused mid-sip, eyes narrowing at the serious tone in her voice. "Yes?'

She pointedly looked around first. "Where's Mitsu?"

"She's going about with some samples around the streets to try and grab attention for the cafe just right before we open. Why?"

"Good, because I think she wouldn't take this development well." Arisu turned her gaze onto the television screen in the living area and it turned on, displaying what seemed to be a media website. "This is the audition page for New Stars, a television show that is all about young aspiring actors to try and apply for one of those talent reality shows."

"Huh?" You blinked. "That sort of daytime filler stuff?"

"Say what you want, but it's where a lot of fresh-faced young impressionable adults try to start their media careers." She sucked in a deep breath and turned to you with a dark expression. "You can understand where I'm going with this."

You were silent for a moment, trying to piece things together with a heavy frown. "So...it's likely that Momiji applied to this? And I'm guessing she didn't make it?" You guessed while chewing your lips in thought. "That's disappointing, but she's still very unknown. Hell, we all are, being basically adults with almost zero recorded history. It doesn't mean she should give up though."

"It's a bit more than that." Her eyes flashed and the website shifted about to a new page. "This one, an audition for Muddy Gold. Another easy start filler, another flat rejection."

"How do you know about the rejections anyway?" You questioned, peering at the screen as if there was a section for it. "Wouldn't that be private?"

"Yes, but it's running on a universal application system that had so little security, it was basically flashing me in. I was given a tip-off on this by a fellow Netrunner choom who knew I was looking for this." The Netrunner coughed and changed websites again, and again. By now, she was going through several dozen corporate media websites advertising slots for new hopeful medias to try and make it big, and you had to take a step back to behold the scale of it.

By the end of it, assuming that the information was good, Momiji had seemingly applied to every single new show being shot this year.

And all of them had turned them down.

You finally found your baffled voice. "What the hell?" You mumbled. "This isn't right. No way that they all happened to find a better actor than her, all at once no less."

"I'm pretty sure they turned her down even when they had open slots," Arisu growled and curled her fingers up into a fist. "Something fishy is happening here, and I don't like it. It feels like she's been blacklisted from the industry."

You hissed and drummed your flesh fingers against your artificial arm. "Can we find out who or why?"

"As much as I'd love to, this is going to get real expensive and real complicated quickly, more so than what I can just do by myself even if I got the funding." She slumped in her seat and laid her head down against the table. "This is going to be a hell of a project that needs the right touch as well, because if you piss off the wrong media group, they're going to hire hits on you."

You hummed, wondering if it was worth the effort. Not to mention that perhaps it was a way for you to get an in with the media corpos once you started meddling with them. That certainly sounded like a Fixer thing to do, to figure out a way to leverage a way into the entertainment circles of Japan.

Especially given that you were more than a little interested in their ad agencies for your personal businesses, with how mostly disastrous your personal attempts were. The question was if you were interested right now, especially with your fellow Lycoris' dreams perhaps on the line. Or perhaps you could put this on the backburner until an opportunity emerged, like a media personality suddenly coming to you for services.

Mentally, you reviewed your choices over again and made a decision.

[ ] [Media] Get involved, set it up as your first goal as a Fixer. Find out what happened with Momiji, what you could do, and how you could leverage it to your advantage.

[ ] [Media] Put a pin on it and keep an eye out for the opportunities. You'll unravel the mystery in time, you just need time to build up and cultivate connections first. You can only hope Momiji will hang on until then.

[ ] [Media] That's a pit of snakes and devils dressed in colorful suits that dance on screen. You're not getting involved in whatever scandal and blackmail they spring on each other on the regular! You'll extend a hand of aid Momiji if the opportunity arises, but best to accept the loss and move on.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Yeah, when Momiji rolled a regular failure, then major failure, something's up. Tossed a die, and it really isn't looking good. But where this is tragedy, there can be opportunity.
- Fixers definitely can have media contacts to help spin stories or leverage scandals as need be. Again, think about a Fixer as being the person you go for everything you need done beneath the table, having dirt on a media personality/having them owe a job to you is definitely in the job title. Gods, that really does make Yuuki sound like a pimp, and it really isn't helping when you consider her current agents...

Four hour moratorium to consider blackmailing media icons

June 1.2, 2080
[X] [Media] Get involved, set it up as your first goal as a Fixer. Find out what happened with Momiji, what you could do, and how you could leverage it to your advantage.

"Whatever is going on behind the cameras is something that I really don't like," You firmly decided with a determined expression and crossed your arms. "A blacklist doesn't happen for no reason, and I highly doubt Momiji caused something to warrant such a tag. So whatever it is, I'm going to get it removed."

"That's quite an ambition," Arisu idly commented with a flick of the eyes. "You're sure then? You're going to get mixed up with whatever goes on behind the camera?"

"Even if it wasn't Momiji, having a media icon or two on my favor list sounds quite handy," You mentioned with a grin and raised a finger to your lips. "Imagine if I could also get them mentioning Kaori as free advertisement."

The Netrunner studied you with a hum, perhaps seeing you in a different light now. "Mitsu was right, you really are evolving into a Fixer mindset. How curious." She shrugged after a moment and relaxed, turning off the screen with casual blink. "Well, feel free to dial me up in the future then if you want my expertise. I might not always be available while I'm taking my classes, but I'm a bona fide programmer in comparison to a lot of random script gonks you'll run into."

You nodded, then caught onto a certain name. "Speaking of which, I wonder how our samurai is doing with handing out those free samples."

(Advertise Word: 93 +5 (Mitsu) = 98)

You realized then that there was some sort of noise coming from the outside the windows and approached with a confused frown. After undoing the latch and sticking your head outside, you nearly fell out in shock when you beheld the rather respectable crowd gathered in front of the shophouse. "What in the-"

You cut yourself off when you realized that standing in front with a respectable distance between them and her was none other than your partner, in her employee maid uniform. But you were very sure that an Arasaka katana was not part of said normal uniform. As it was, it stood out vibrantly when she held it at the ready, crouching into a stance with a confident grin. Standing behind her was Erika, clutching one of the cheaper flower bouquets you had created as a sample product. What were they doing?

For a moment, some small part of you perhaps protested that this was just pointless showboating, at worst, a clumsy act. Then a larger portion told that tiny voice to hush and watch. You trusted your partner to not disappoint. You didn't even mind Arisu pressing against you when she tried to get a good look as well, the moment coinciding with a bark from Mitsu. "Hajime!"

Erika nodded, then lightly lobbed the sample bouquet into the air with an underhanded toss. It rose high up into the sky before beginning to fall, descending down in an trajectory that would land on Mitsu's head. But just right before it would make contact, Mitsu made her move and activated her cyberware. You could spot it from the way the part on her neck lit up, and the way her arm blurred for a moment. But to the average bystander who wasn't expecting it, it had seemed as if Mitsu had simply inched a measure of her blade out before letting it slide back.

Yet the flower bouquet was held up in the air for the briefest of moments, its fall somehow halted. Then it exploded into a flurry of petals and flowers scattering about in the air, almost like a hurricane of dizzying floral color. Loud gasps and shocked cries echoed from the entranced audience when the perfectly sliced bouquet drifted their way, with some even managing to catch one of the neatly trimmed flowers. Mitsu rose up with a pleased expression to much clapping and cheering, and she gave a small bow to the enthusiastic crowd. "My thanks for your patronage! Now, might I interest your patronage in our new flower cafe? Kagoshima Fragrance will soon be open, and I shall be there!"

"Woah," Arisu said in a low voice with a whistle, not noticing you subtly shifting your weight in preparation. "That was pretty preem. That'll definitely get some shoes through the front door- hey wait!"

Her cry came too late when you neatly slid over the window ledge and neatly pushed yourself off, falling from the upstairs down to ground level. It honestly wasn't that much of a distance and you landed right behind your partner without even needing to roll to bleed off the momentum. Mitsu whirled around in surprise at your sudden appearance, but you winked and helped turn the movement into a complete twirl, inciting even more cheering from the gathered crowd.

You certainly weren't going to waste her performance now and raised your voice. "My apologies, but a quick correction. Kagoshima Fragrance...is open now!" Your arm shot out and caught a laughing Mitsu in a solid embrace that transitioned into the two of you doing a matching bow. "Let's open the doors now!"

"Let us tarry no longer!" Mitsu chimed.

"Let's strike," Erika laughed.

"Let's open," Hinata chuckled and undid the security lock on the shophouse front door, opening your brand new business to the public for the first time. You and your employees streamed in first to take positions before the start of what would hopefully be many customers to your flower cafe. You watched the front eagerly when people began to make their way in to have a look, place an order, or take a seat.

(Grand Opening: 25 +20 (Advertising Bonus) = 45)

There was a large initial rush which then just petered out into...well, nothing. You bit your lip and glanced over to those who did indeed follow your performance in. There were surprisingly less heads than expected, and a few empty tables that didn't inspire confidence. It seemed that in the end, after all your effort, your grand opening was ultimately nothing special compared to whatever other businesses were in the area.

You almost wanted to fall to your knees in disappointment, but then Hinata gave a pointed elbow to your ribs. "Don't fret about who's not here," He quietly advised and gestured at some groups eyeing up your display bouquets with clear interest. "Appeal to the ones who are. Give them the best service, and make some eddies from them."

He had a point. You closed your eyes and let out your frustrations in a whispered hiss, expelling the bitterness from your body. That left only smiles to approach the customers with, bringing forth all your knowledge about botany forward to make a good expression.

(Grand Opening (Botany): 53 +15 (Intelligence) +12 (Rank 6 Botany) = 80)

Your expertise in flowers came through and the customers you entertained showed great interest in the bouquets you presented. You sold a few of them with a lighter note to your step, glad to finally be making a little money after all this time. It was almost enough to chase away the bitterness of the disappointing turnout.

Almost.

+400eb (12950 +400 = 13,350eb)

(Grand Opening (Cooking)): 83 +14 (Tech) +12 (Hinata) = 109)

Meanwhile, Hinata too rolled up his sleeves and got to work with focused determination. Despite only having just been hired, his familiarity in the industry was telling with how he easily slipped into serving drinks and chatting up with customers at the same time, working charm with both food and tongue. Erika and Mitsu were both blurs that worked with him to take the orders to the tables, understanding that they worked best as runners instead of customer service in comparison to you and Hinata. You took a moment to watch it all unfold with a proud grin, before you began to calculate the profits.

+1000eb (13350 +1000 = 14,350eb)

All in all, you raked in a rather respectable amount for your first day! It wasn't the possibly insane profits that a grand opening would normally entail, but if it were just a regular operating day? It would be a very good one. You waved off the last customer with a friendly farewell and promise to be here again, then turned to your tired employees. "That could've been better, but it also could've gone a lot worst," You finally decided with a nod, deciding to look on the good side of things.

"It definitely was a good foot forwards, boss," Hinata called out while already tugging to undo his tie. "Trust me when I say that for a first time business owner, you did fine. Don't fret and think about what could've been, just focus on what you have now."

"He is right...but that is no reason why we can't aim to go grander!" Erika refuted and fanned herself with one of your menus. "We simply must put in more effort, more sweat, more blood to this venture!"

The lone male employee chuckled and glanced at the time. "Well, you're free to. I'm off the clock now, assuming you don't mind."

You shook your head. "Just make sure you record your logout properly, that's all. It's how I'll be paying you at the end of the month after all."

"Wouldn't dream of forgetting my paycheck!" Hinata chuckled and left to undress in the supply closet. You told the same to Erika, who simply nodded in understanding. Then she glanced between you and Mitsu and then spoke in a low voice.

"I take it then my paycheck will be smaller in return for a cut?" You immediately knew what she was referring to, the unspoken street rule that those who participated in gigs would get an appropriate cut of the final payout to really help motivate them into pulling them off. It was often a rather rich slice, but also a necessary slice compared to the fact that the Fixer- you, in this case- was often getting the lion's share of the gig's payout for being the one to organize, setup, execute, and eventually cover-up the score.

Being the one who handled all the paychecks came with a very fat payout in itself.

It also meant that Erika's pay each month was less than Hinata's, with the expectation that you would have jobs for her to make up for it. "We'll make it work," You promised, then an idea struck you. "Let me show you the downstairs and what we've got kitted out. Feel free to practice in it to your heart's content when it gets slow or between shifts."

"Oh, I like the sound of that!"

"But who shall tend to the front?" Mitsu pointed out and you paused. Then you raised your voice so that Hinata could hear.

"Do you mind watching the front for a few more minutes? I'll give you some overtime for it!"

There was a long pause, then a response. "Sure, I guess. It's your big day, let's got a little extra. But don't take too long," He warned and you promised it wouldn't be that long, especially when there were only two main things of interest in the basement. Erika was pleased by the presence of the firing range, though perplexed slightly by the training dojo. She quickly reversed her tune when catching the sight of Mitsu's face though, and there was some laugh to be had when you beheld the secret hangout for your agents.

This, you thought, was going to be the start of something great.

Then when you returned back upstairs, Hinata was still there like promised. He had already changed out of his outfit, but there was something else off that made you pause and search about. Your eyes finally fell onto the empty stand next to the register and your eyes lit up. "Oh, did somebody buy our showcase?"

"Yep, you just missed her. Some schoolgirl saw it, commented on how beautiful it was, then paid upfront." Hinata flashed a thumbs up and showed the entry in the sales system confirm the eddie transfer. "Perfect way to end the day, don't you think?"

"Certainly," You responded, feeling slightly flushed at all the eddies that was going to fill your bank account now. "Maybe we should just close up for now then, I think that's everything."

"I'll help!" Erika chimed and rushed to help get things set for the closing.

+2000eb (14350 +2000 = 16,350eb)

Before you or Mitsu could join in, both of you immediately stiffened at the message popping up in your system through the Lycoris connection system. "Both of you. My room, now. Alone," Arisu bluntly told and cut the connection without further elaboration. You shared a look of concern with your partner, then did what the Netrunner said after giving polite excuses to your employees. The door to Arisu's room was open and she immediately slid it shut with a privacy seal the moment you stepped through.

"What is the matter?" Mitsu asked innocently, but your fellow graduate didn't say anything. Instead, she turned the computer monitor over to you, showing off one of the security cameras you had installed when restoring the shophouse. This one was pointed at the front cashier, showing Hinata and Erika going through their first closing procedure.

Thing was, you were very sure that only your computer should be able to access the network, which meant one thing. "You hacked my cameras?" You asked, half-impressed and half-offended. "Seriously? Do all Netrunners just have an urge of 'I see security, I break security?'"

Your joke landed right on its face when Arisu's eyes glowed and she rewound the camera footage to just only a few minutes ago. It was just Hinata manning the station now like you had ask, when he welcomed a customer stepping in. His face lit up and he began to show off the Lycoris bouquet, then packaging them up. Then a young lady wearing a schoolgirl uniform moved in to collect the bouquet. It all seemed legitimate, but there was one detail that had you staring in dumbfound disbelief at a very familiar sight.

A Lycoris uniform.

Mitsu was the first to speak in a quiet voice. "That's a Lycoris First."

"One very far from Kyoto," You numbly mumbled and glanced at the grim Arisu. "I see now. Thank you."

"It's no skin off my nose considering that I'm probably about to leave in a couple days, but I think you definitely needed to know." She rewound the footage a few more steps to pause exactly on the schoolgirl, who was facing away from the camera all the while. "Looks like we may be graduated, but we aren't out of its shadow just yet."

You pressed your lips together and considered what to do with this mysterious appearance.

[ ] [Lycoris] Find them. No way they're here without a reason. Make it a new Fixer project to track down and find out why an active Lycoris was in the city, buying flowers for some reason.

[ ] [Lycoris] Ignore them. No, you're finished with the organization. You're done. Take the information in stride, then leave it be. You're not getting involved in whatever new shadow is being cast.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Well, in the end, you still made a fair bit of cash. Just not as much as it could've been. I'll be adding Erik and Hinata's pay now to your monthly budget calculations, so keep that in mind for when the end of the month starts approaching.
- This one is a more straightforward choice, but it is mainly to decide if you want to get involved in whatever is going on with a Lycoris being present in Kagoshima. You can decide later what to actually do once you discover the reason why, but deciding not to get involved is a clear cut 'we're out' indication.

Arisu made a face when she checked her messages. "Jeez, my professors are really far too stuck up. They're screaming that if I'm not attending class by the end of the week, they're actually going to dock my participation score. And that'll chip at my grades."

"Is that not the standard?" Mitsu questioned while removing the roller travel bag from her motorcycle. "Should you not be held up to the same judgment as your peers?"

"Oh, I am, but in an annoying way that just doesn't make any sense." Arisu grabbed her travel bag and shook her head. "Because I am already attending classes through the net, but they 'want me there in person.' Bah, they'll bend over to let a suit's child take as many online classes as they want, but since I'm an 'outsider,' they'll only go so far."

"Look at it this way: if they know our real past, they'd be less interested in our heads, and far more interested in making us their goons for life," You dryly pointed out and shrugged. "We have to make do."

"Agreed, we do." The Netrunner paused, then turned to you with a final look. "So you're serious? You're going to look into all the oddities that's been happening lately?"

"I will," You promised with a nod. "I need to start somewhere, and these leads are as good as any. It'll also help keep me busy for a while."

"And we have justice to execute as well!" Mitsu added, pumping her fist eagerly. She had been read into the situation with Momiji and was naturally fired up as well. "Even if we must journey as far as Tokyo, we shall rescue our companion!"

That was admittedly the trickier project, but you were fairly sure there had to be a media scene in Kagoshima that you could stick your foot in first to get that necessary leverage. With any luck, it'd be a solid base before trying to dive any deeper. Arisu didn't notice what you were thinking of and just made a final joke as a parting farewell. "In case you travel up to Tokyo, I'd offer to room you in return but I'm afraid we'd be three sharing one bed then. And I don't feel like being a third wheel between you two."

You choked and you didn't need to look to notice Mitsu rapidly reddening as well. Arisu laughed loudly and turned to enter the airport, waving a hand without looking back. There was some awkward silence between you and your partner in the wake of that, then you awkwardly coughed. "Right. Time to get to work."

Mitsu numbly nodded and got back on her motorcycle, tugging the safety straps of her protective headgear on. You followed while putting a helmet back on, pointedly grabbing the passenger seat bars to hold on while she revved up the engine and began to accelerate. Soon, the airport was behind you and you looked out to the city of Kagoshima, taking in the mix of traditional and modern features under a neon glow.

One day, perhaps you'd go to Tokyo. But for now, you still had this city to takeover. You pressed your lips together, then pinged your roommate. "Mitsu. Get ready to get busy."

"My blade is ready," She instantly responded back and you nodded.

"Good. Because now, we start really living."

Choose up to four (4) actions you'll carry out through the week

Kagoshima Fragrance (Kaori)

-[ ] [Kagoshima Fragrance] Fix the Van: The Scavs had a cheap utility van that's gotten shot up pretty badly, but you think you could maybe fix it back up. It could be handy for either an infusion of cash to your new business or an asset for the business itself. Try your hand at being a mechanic for a bit.

-[ ] [Kagoshima Fragrance] Manage the Cafe: Devote some time into properly working with your employees to make some extra money after breaking even, which adds to your bank account.

-[ ] [Kagoshima Fragrance] Firing Range: You've got private gun range in the soundproof basement of your shophouse. Put some time there and try to hone your skill with firearms.
--[ ] Pistols
--[ ] Assault

Kagoshima Fixer
-[ ] [Kagoshima Fixer] Gather Information: Go out and listen to the streets, see if there's any big event about in the city that you could muscle in and make an independent gig out of.

-[ ] [Kagoshima Fixer] Offer Consultation: Reach out to one of the many factions in Kagoshima and idly offer your neutral services. See if any of them have free gigs that they are willing to hand over to you to manage, with a cut to them but the freedom of execution to you.
--[ ] Write-in a faction.

-[ ] [Kagoshima Fixer] Media Rumors:
So it seemed like the media industry had blacklisted your fellow Lycoris. You weren't going to let that stand. Start putting out feelers and try to find a way to break into the industry as need be.

-[ ] [Kagoshima Fixer] Lycoris Sighting: Out of all things, a Lycoris First had been sighted shopping at your business. Thing was, this wasn't Kyoto, so what was she doing here? You're eager to look for your possible sister in arms and connect with her.

--[ ] Lycoris Fixer Anzai Yuuki
--[ ] Lycoris Samurai Ryouji Mitsu
--[ ] Vendetta Runner Futai Erika

Available Bouquets
--[ ] Red Spider Lily: The Lycoris flower, the undeniable flower closest to symbolizing who you are before, now, and forever more. Its presence is enough to invigorate you like never before, and you find yourself giving it your very best. Action Effect: Yuuki gains one (1) rerolls for this action. This is doubled if Excellent quality.
---[ ] Normal: 0 (Value: 1,000eb)
---[ ] Good: 0 (Value: 1,500eb)
---[ ] Excellent: 0 (Value: 2,000eb)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Big expansion on your actions now! I think it should be manageable with your current action count for now, but we'll see. In any case, it's fine to take things slow if you want, so just do what you like

Six hour moratorium to make a week plan.

(Fix the Van: 97 +14 (Tech) +10 (Delayed) = 121)

It had been a long time coming, but you finally found some time to return to working on the damaged scav van that had been sitting in the driveway all this time. It was honestly a minor miracle nobody had already broken into its empty shell to steal the copper wiring or something to that nature, but perhaps it was because Mitsu always was mindful of it, taking time to roll her motorcycle up besides it. She'd certainly notice if somebody were trying to fiddle with it.

At the same time though, you felt a pang of guilt at how she had to awkwardly move around due to its immobilized state and resolved to at least fix it up to move, even if you didn't plan on keeping it so. Though a van could have perhaps be of use to either your main and side businesses. Perhaps even both at the same time.

You shook your head and focused back on your task. With practiced experienced of years as a Lycoris Cleaner, you carefully removing the last off the broken windshield glass on the van, dropping the sharp edge into a bag to dispose of later. Once that was safely tossed into the dumpster, you took a step back and studied the overall status of the shot-up vehicle now.

It looked a lot less damaged now, though it was heavily stripped down now when you removed anything that had been damaged in the firefight against scavs. That meant most of its front chassis was a flat write-off, along with the aforementioned shot out glass. You scowled when you studied the engine still sitting in the vehicle and rubbed your chin thoughtfully. Before, with the advantage of Lycoris' vast budget, it was simpler to just replace the entire thing. That was if they didn't just pretend to tow the car to a secret repair facility while giving the owner a generic parking ticket meant to lead them in circles until the fix was done.

You naturally didn't have that luxury of an unlimited budget and had to make do. Thankfully, from what limited knowledge you had about cars, you were pretty sure that the engine wasn't totally destroyed. At most, you'd have to purchase replacement parts for the broken components along with whatever else the van needed to be installed, then have to fix the parts on yourself. It wasn't going to be cheap, but it was doable.

It still meant though that you had to pull the damn thing out and you let out a low groan at that task. Then blandly decided that could wait for another day. For now, you felt hot and sticky from working outside and needed to freshen up. You had plans to stroll about the city tonight.

There was a wrench thrown into your plan then when you stepped into the shophouse and a bokken was hurled at you. If it weren't for your eyes, you maybe would've been struck by it instead of catching it and wordlessly raising an eyebrow at the grinning Mitsu. "Tis time for practice!"

You opened your mouth, then considered you were already a sweating mess. With a casual shrug, you hefted the wooden sword and decided you might as well make the most of it. "To your dojo then?" You asked with a small smile.

Mitsu visibly preened at the mention and grinned. "To the arena!"

(The Way:7 +10 (Reflex) +15 (Mitsu) = 32)

You two descended to the basement and then eagerly went at it once ready. Unfortunately, it seemed that since having been gifted the space, Mitsu had truly honed her skills even further. Perhaps too much so, as she unleashed a smattering of attacks that you could barely fend off, much less learn from. She was unrelenting despite not even using her cyberware, and you wondered if she even needed that anymore in a regular fight.

A misjudged parry saw your bokken being solidly knocked out of your grip and you quickly held up your hands just as the tip of your partner's wooden blade touched your neck. "I yield, I yield!" You let out a sigh when she finally withdrew the practice weapon and rubbed at the skin. "You're moving too fast, I can barely keep up."

"Mmh?" Mitsu blinked and tilted her head curiously. "Whatever do you mean? I have been purposefully holding back without cyberware."

"And you're still quick without it," You pointed out while picking up your fallen sword. "Really, I think you've actually improved even more since we last sparred. You've been practicing in the dojo then?"

"I have committed myself to daily practice, indeed!" She declared with great pride. "At least an hour everyday to exercise, without fail. A samurai is not one who grows complacent in victory, but one who strives to forever walk the Way blindly forwards!"

"Guessing you can't slow down for me then?" You joked, then held up a hand when she hesitated. "No, seriously. Don't hold back, because this is just as much practice for you as it is me. I'd rather face the terror now than out in the field."

Mitsu pressed her lips together, then nodded. "Better to bruise yourself now, than to bleed later," She firmly stated and raised her weapon. "Another bout?"

"Much as I would love to, I actually want to take a walk about the city," You politely turned down with a shake of the head and walked over to respectfully store away the bamboo sword. "And I want to look presentable while doing so. We might not be Lycoris anymore, but appearance still matters if I'm going to be talking to new faces."

(Mitsu's Availability: 62)

"Would you perhaps require an escort?" Your partner eagerly offered, lightly making her way to mirror your actions. "My schedule has me free this evening as well, so we could make it an outing together!"

You let out a hum in consideration. Bringing Mitsu along hadn't been in the original plan, but perhaps you could benefit from having a reliable muscle in case of an emergency? It did mean though that you'd have to put up with her mannerisms and sense of honor from going to any of the shadier or darkest aspects of the city. She also might get distracted herself if there was anything to draw her attention and appeal to her desire to do justice. That could be a real bother.

But on the other hand, she was your partner, Lycoris or not.

You sighed and mentally reviewed what neighborhoods might be a good place to hang out, meet new faces, and perhaps get a lead on trying to muscle in on the media.

Pick a neighborhood to walk the streets in.

[ ] [Neighborhood] Kamoh Gardens. Being your very own neighborhood, there surely must be something in the area for the corporate families to connect at. And through them, perhaps a connection to what you seek.

[ ] [Neighborhood] Aira. The area's a hotbed for the well-to-do, and there's plenty of corpo celebrities who supposedly live there. Try to find a nice place to catch them out and get your in.

[ ] [Neighborhood] Kokubu. The gathering grounds for conventions must be a place where media spokespersons frequent. They could even be from out of town, giving you potentially direct access to what you want.

[ ] [Neighborhood] Eaglesworth. If there's any nation that loves television more than any other, it has to be America. There surely must be more than a few Western media influences in the wealthy tourist district.

Choose if you want to bring your partner along.

[ ] [Mitsu] Bring your partner along.

[ ] [Mitsu] Go alone.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The van just needs one more successful action with a payment, then it's should hopefully be good to go. If it goes well enough, Yuuki might even be able to actually pick up something about fiddling with vehicles from it all.
- I already have an inkling of what people are going to pick, but I will stress again Mitsu may or may not change how things unfold. Depends on what the dice say about what you find.
