So, earlier today, I officially told the readers of one of my fanfics,
Chaldea in Remnant, that I am migrating to this site. Most people understood my decision and were still looking forward to seeing my content, but I've got just as many people telling me its a bad idea because of the "supposed ridiculous standards" and "browbeating" people on Spacebattles and Sufficient Velocity have.
Honestly? I really couldn't give a rat's ass about people on either site having high standards. I'm writing because I enjoy writing, and I accept any and all criticism because I want to grow as a writer. Hell, the whole reason I even became a fanfic author was to get experience for the day I start writing my first book.
...pushing all that side for the moment, wow. Holy shit. I've only been gone for a few days, and you guys have been going crazy.
This really does put a smile on my face, ngl
Uh, Parian's not actually blonde. She's middle-eastern (if I recall correctly), with dusky skin (or dark? unclear) and black hair.
Decent chapter, otherwise.
Thanks for the chap, though seeing that Taylor saved Parian from a demon, I think the one you gonna point out in the next chap is the second one? Unless if it's a flashback.
Also I don't want to spoil or anything if what I understand is Parian unmasking on her but she kinda... look different actually.
Lastly, I would guess the tinker is Masamune but thinking that the guy is already a Guild Member and a friend of Dragon... yeah I think our proverbial tinker is not Masamune.
Chariot maybe? Could had been butterflied tbh that the kid is a good guy nao.
Also a TYPO:
Edit: Ninja'ed also
@MaskedCritic the bossman haven't finished reading Worm yet so... we gotta toe carefully in what to spoil, though I think Parian's civie identity is debatable in how deep is the spoilering about it because of a certain... 'stuff'.
Hmm... A great chapter, not much more to say.
Like people above said - kinda spoiler-y but blond hair is part of her disguise.
And it seems Undersiders are not a team/thing in this. 2 headed dog and attacking a known non-combat rogue ? She'd be grilled to hell and back.
Tinker... Considering it's an AU - I'm tempted to say it's Lisa for 2 reasons - Negotiator could potentially go for a Tinker route with understanding other tinkertech so it somewhat fits. And the fact that their relationship is probably the best thing in the entirety of the Worm.
I mean. In a city full of Nazis a disguise to look as white as possible certainly isn't a bad idea by any stretch of the imagination. Plus it's a useful extra bit of protection for her secret identity.
Is Parian's Tinker friend Chariot maybe? The only canon character I can think of tbh.
Doubt it. Not in his character. Why I thought it's alt-power Lisa is the fact that it fits her to a T. She loves money and absolutely hates being alone. On top of that - she's scarily smart even without Negotiator. Fairly certain she'd jump on the chance to work with Parian to stay safe.
Yeah, as people said earlier. Parian is actually middle-eastern and wears a blond wig and covers every part of her skin in her costume to disguise this fact. Also if you plan to use her civilian identity, her name is Sabah. She's in college and a lesbian.
So uh, everyone's hopping on this "Parian's her canon self" train. What if this is Lisa, and her tinker friend is Sabah?
That's... Considering she trolled Tay from the start - that could actually be a thing. I'll go slap myself for not considering it.
By canon that was half the reason she did it. The other reason she did it was so she could, eventually, make the Reveal and shock everyone that she was a middle easterner (who is at least bi but may be completely gay, I don't recall which).
Reversal: Sabah is still Parian but Lisa moonlights as her body double to throw people off and hide the fact that Lisa is the Tinker.
Okay, gotta be honest with you all. The whole Ms. Know-It-All Lisa being the Tinker was
not an idea I was expecting, but for the most part, the people guessing that Parian is actually disguising herself are correct. I mean, for god's sake, she lives in a city that has actual goddamn Neo-Nazi's. She would have to be an idiot
to not disguise herself in case the Empire came after her for whatever reason or another. Not that they would have any reason to, since she stays out of fights unless she has a reason to get involved.
As for Lisa being the Tinker...nope. She's still a Thinker, and she's still a smug-ass know it all. Well, until she meets Taylor anyway, but that is a can of worms that won't be pried open until sometime later.
I can also confirm that Chariot is not the guy who made the capture foam capsules or the visor, even though he is part of the Brockton Bay Wards in this story.
Orthrus huh? and Taylor's sword has the same name, it seems we have found Taylor's first demon kill, maybe, I'm basing my speculation off this bit:
And the fact that the devil arms in DMC III (the only one I've played) have the same names of the demons they used to be.
Based off this little segment, I think it's safe to assume that Orthrus was a fire-ice demon dog thing, which I'm also gonna asume was also the two-headed monster dog Parian mentioned.
Hopefully SkyRig reveals how the hell Taylor met the damn thing, much less how she managed to kill it with no weapons.
...well, unless Rodin loaned her own of his weapons.
On another note, after having gotten into Ward after holding it off for so long (won't spoil anything like SkyRig asked us), but I still gotta ask why Antares is here four years ahead of schedule. And what it means for New Wave if Vicky's going by her other cape name and not Glory Girl.
You know, for people that have no context here because they don't know anything about DMC, but DO know some things about Greek myth, this sentence is actually kind hilarious.
Like... 'what? She summoned... a dog? Or did she have it and now its become shiny?'
I think we can all agree that Bitch would be fucking ecstatic if she ever met a Cerberus.
Bitch: I want one.
Brian: Oh hell no! Do you see the size of it?! That thing's bigger than any of your dogs!
Lisa: Do I even wanna know what'll happen if she used her power on that thing?
Alec: Gee, Lisa, thanks for that horrifying image.
All jokes aside, the thing about the demon that attacked Parian being "two-headed" and apparently looks like a dog makes me thing it's related to Cerberus in some way.
...now that I think about it, doesn't have Cerberus have a sibling in Greek mythology? I can't remember the name, all I know is that it had two heads and that's it.
And you all are correct. The name of Taylor's weapon is indeed Orthrus. You'll learn how she got her hands on that particular Devil's Arm in the next arc, which covers how Taylor adjusts to having powers now and how she first meets Rodin.
Far as I know no one has done this yet, soooooo.
...god dammit, why is that a thing?! No, seriously, why?! You two are assholes! Now I can't get images of Taylor going full Vergil out of my head!
