You tore into the carcass of the Gaping Dragon and retrieved the Key to Blighttown. Sturdy, indeed, to have survived intact within the belly of the beast for who knows how long... But Oscar's remains were in a far worst state after being pulled out.
The fact that Oscar's body was still here meant that he held no Humanity left. He would not be reborn at a Bonfire. The man had died. ?????: "You finally wish to use the power of the Covenant..."
Your hand twitched. ?????: "To save a man whose fate is so inconsequential?"
A swirl of Humanity manifesting upon that hand. ?????: "This will set you back for untold cycles."
Or at least what seemed to be Humanity. ?????: "But spend your countless gathering as you please and leave no regrets."
A hand touched the lifeless body and instinctively roamed until the hole was found. ?????: "So the world might be mended."
The Oscar's Darksign greedily absorbed the freely given 'Humanity'.
And then Oscar was reborn.
Laurentius: "By the Flames!"
The knight slowly examined himself, hands brought to the fore in disbelief.
Oscar: "...Is this a dream...? I'm... alive?"
You placed a a hand on knight's shoulder.
Chosen Undead: "....Welcome back."
And walked away.
DARK SOULS LOW BUDGET QUEST
You opened the gates to Blighttown.
A single ladder leading down into the deep and dark gullet which reminded of the Gaping Dragon. You went down, followed by Oscar, then Laurentius. It was a very long descent.
At the bottom of the ladder, you made footfall on a stable but still very shoddy-looking scaffolding.
An Infested Barbarian stood in your way, blocking much of the path with its bulky-size.
You eliminated it quickly before it could pose a problem with the wide-swings of its club.
Your group luckily had Purple Moss Clump (Blooming or otherwise), allowing you to progress through the many poison-wielding foes with little trouble.
Give him a hug.
Silent Killers.
Such as the many Infested Ghouls or the dastardly Blowdart Snipers. Though the harassment of the Giant Mosquitoes proved to be very annoying. Conveniently, the haphazard designs of the scaffolding -- sometimes breaking and sometimes moving -- proved to be just as dangerous to the enemies despite being their home turf, as many foes fell to their deaths trying to reach you.
Calling the place a 'town' was being far too generous, but calling it a 'blight' was frankly a given.
For a moment, your advance was stopped by a alien-looking creature. But Laurentius safely incinerated the monstrosity.
DARK SOULS LOW BUDGET QUEST
Your group finally made its way down.
It also breaths fire.
However, the danger of falling had only been replaced with the danger of becoming bogged down with the poisonous ground with Cragspiders hiding between the nooks and crannies.
Laurentius: "...I wonder where the entrance to the City Of Izalith would be?"
Which direction should you go?
[ ] Giant Trees - There are leeches there.
[ ] Wormy Mound - There are boulder-throwing infested-barbarians there.
[ ] Write-In - What do?
She should be over by Quelaag's domain, so over by one of the packs of barbarians. Laurentius not being able to see her is a problem, but I think it was because he wasn't advanced enough in his pyromancy. The player needs a flame at at least level 10 to see her, so that's a possible reason.
[X] Wormy Mound - There are boulder-throwing infested-barbarians there.
Do you even lift, bruv?
Besides the almost knee-high poisonous bog that needed to be traversed, the boulder-throwing Infested Barbarians also surrounded the coast of the Wormy Mound made it difficult to reach. However, they were easily baited into tossing their boulders and thus easily brought down when they exposed their backs to retrieve it.
It was a relief to finally step onto solid ground -- albeit shifty sand -- and away from the nauseous bile of poison. Undead your group may be but even that did not mean complete immunity to toxins.
Going up the mound and through an entrance. The entirety of the interior was covered in web amongst other things.
Laurentius: "...Must have been a lot of spiders is it..."
Walking down the tunnel, you encountered grotesque but passive and immobile creatures that were mumbling on the ground. They looked as if they were praying to something...
Oscar: "My word!"
The hunch-back of Notre Dame had it easy.
Creeping further into the tunnel, you eventually reach a very large room. At the other end of that room was a structure, the only way to go. But blocking your path was her.
What was your plan to deal with this abomination?
Don't forget to give directions to Oscar and Laurentius!
