When a secret alien invasion infests Hope's Peak Academy, the line between Super High-School Level Talents and Idiot Teenagers with a Death Wish blurs...

My name is Kirigiri Kyoko. That's all I can tell you about myself up front. I'd been raised to believe I was someone exceptional, a student above all others. I have no idea how I can believe that now.

My first inclination that something unnatural was afoot was when I spied an eerie set of lights in the sky, getting closer and closer. Upon the sound and shaking of an almighty crash, I headed over to the nearby construction site where those lights had touched the earth to assess the situation.

The crash had been so hard to ignore that I wasn't the only one who'd come over to investigate. I could spot nine other students from Hope's Peak Academy, each of whom were famous enough names, as were most who attended as renowned an institution as Hope's Peak, that I'd read up on all of them before.

The twintailed, freckled Enoshima Junko, the Super High School Level Fashionista. The blond, bespectacled zaibatsu heir Togami Byakuya. The blue-haired idol Maizono Sayaka, the lumbering doujinshi Yamada Hifumi, the clean-cut, firm-browed hall monitor Ishimaru Kiyotaka, the tanned brunette pro swimmer Asahina Aoi, and the dark-haired enigma 'Celestia Ludenberg'.
The remaining two took a few seconds longer for me to pick up on, but I judged the redhead boy to be the baseball player Kuwata Leon, though his hair was wilder and more outgrown than in his photos. The last, a bespectacled, braided brunette, I eventually identified as the budding author Fukawa Touko.

Yet all of us gifted students paled in comparison to the sight before us, a sight I could barely believe. The crashed colossus shaped like... an egg with wings I could only say, was a structure first glances would describe as an 'alien spaceship'. I naturally wanted to believe there was a more reasonable explanation.

"Hmph, an astray film prop, or a practical joke gotten out of hand? Either way, there's probably nothing to see here" Byakuya was first to speak, having jumped on a similar idea, if not bothering to confirm his hypothesis first. I knew little of practical jokes, but doubted they consisted of anything this elaborate, though in the ultra-wealthy Togami world, it's possible they did.

"Amazingly crafted for a prop though. My, almost an indignity I wasn't told special effects of this magnitude were filming the area" Hifumi felt the need to comment.

Byakuya's swift deduction was, as is usual for such, proven wrong when a door leading into the ship dropped down. From inside, there slowly stumbled out what I could only describe as a blue, mouthless centaur with a bladed tail and a second set of eyes on stalks, his stumbling gait I noticed was due to a pulsing bruise on his side. Reason by that point had been so thrown out the window that I had to pinch myself to confirm I was not dreaming.

Kiyotaka and Aoi immediately rushed over to assist this crash-landed centaur back to its full height, as much as two high-schoolers could with a towering alien. Togami, despite having been closest to the crash, folded his arms and looked away, likely having convinced himself it was just an actor in a suit.

<I am Elfangor-Sirinial-Shamtul, a Prince of the Andalites...> the alien centaur was somehow able to say despite lacking a mouth.

"Ah, um… O Prince from beyond the Stars. Um, do forgive the rough introduction, but we humbly welcome you to Earth" Kiyotaka proclaimed, being quick to go along with this as he bowed to the 'Andalite'.

<Earth... you don't have much time,> this Elfangor droned out, <The Yeerks are already here, possessing your people>.

This warning wasn't grave enough for some, apparently, as I picked up Celestiahad snuck herself aboard the ship while the rest of us had been too occupied by the sight of Elfangor. Gritting my teeth, I took off after her into it, only to be confronted with a flickering hologram of three more of these 'Andalites', each increasingly younger (I assumed younger, from what I knew of their biology).

Peering past these holograms, I could see Celestia's attention had been caught by a shimmering octagonal prism. "Ludenberg, you would touch an alien object without knowing anything about it?" I asked her straight.

As if she had no idea of this situation's seriousness, Celestia just cocked her head and giggled. "My, Kirigiri, has any inkling to take risks been so thoroughly beaten out of you? Well, if this device troubles you so, then here. Catch" she said, throwing the box my way.

Grasping it, I felt a strange, almost sickly sensation come over me, like I could now suddenly feel down to my very genes.

<That is the Escafil Device,> Elfangor was able to speak again, <It shall bestow upon each of you the power to Morph, to rewrite your own DNA to that of another species...>

"You're honestly still going along with this ruse?" Byakuya shook his head as he spoke right past Elfangor at me.

"…I have no substantial evidence that disproves the reality of this," I told him, though admitted, "Strange as that is to admit".

"Wait? What the Hell? You're honestly buying all this bullshit about transforming and- and alien invasions?!" an impudent Leon raised his voice at me.

"Hey, whether you believe this or not, can't you at least be courteous enough to not blow up around someone who's wounded like this?" Aoi spoke back against Leon first.

I didn't waste such energy on Leon or Byakuya. Instead, to prove my case, I tossed the heir this Escafil device and said, "See for yourself".

Byakuya's face recoiling upon the cube landing in his hands, he instinctively threw it back only for Aoi to catch it, who after experiencing the same situation, handed it over to Kiyotaka.

"Right, it would of course be natural that I, as Hope's Peak Disciplinarian, held onto this object in lieu of its rightful owner" he began, but his words amounted to nothing when a smirking Junko sided up to him and swiftly yanked the device away.

"Okay, who wants it next?" the fashionista beamed as she tossed the cube away again like a game, it then landing in Sayaka's hands this time. The idol held onto it at first but then, a wincing look coming over her face as she could feel its effects, she made a noise I could only call an 'eep' and threw it over to Touko. The braided brunette let out a searing shriek and dropped it on the ground, where a transfixed Hifumi dived in to pick it up.

"Great, this damn thing's got us acting like kids. Hate to break it to ya, but the best thing would be to just ditch this thing flat out" Leon snorted as he snatched the Escafil device from Hifumi's hands and threw it with a furious arc that sent it flying over a rooftop.

<The Escafil Device!> the wounded Elfangor shot up, but stopped as he then said, <…Either way, all of you have touched the Device, therefore you all now may acquire another species' Morph with a touch. Be warned that you may only spend two hours morphed, lest you become a Nothlit>.

"Though sheesh, Leon. What would you do if someone handed you, like, the Ark of the Covenant? Just dump it in the ocean?!" Junko crossed her arms and glared at him.

…You were the one who kept lightly throwing it, I thought of Junko, though kept that unproductive comment to myself.

"W-wait, a Nothlit?! And Yeerks? What-whatdo you mean, are we in danger?" Sayaka said shuddering.

"I'll say. If this 'Escafil device' or whatever has toxic side-effects, then you are aware of the retribution for poisoning me?" Byakuya hissed, poison sounding like too specific an example for him to pull out of nowhere.

We were cut off by marching sounds in the distance. It was expected further people would take notice of the crash, but this thumping approach did not sound like bystanders or news crews here to see what had happened.

<Visser Three? Hide children, quickly! Your lives are at risk> Elfangor impressed onto our minds. Not in any place to question him, I grabbed Celeste and Aoi, the two nearest to me, as Junko groaned and yanked over Leon and Byakuya, Kiyotaka dutifully following. Sayaka didn't need more of a prompt other than Elfangor to start running, Hifumi took one last, close look at the spaceship before he too tried to make a break for it, and Touko just seemed eager to leave the scene.

We soon found a low wall to provide cover for us, from which I could peer above to see that no less than beaked monsters covered in blades, giant bloated worms with numerous fanged mouths, and in the centre of them a hulking 'Andalite' at full strength had surrounded Elfangor.

<End of the line, Elfangor-Sirinial-Shamtul. You may have been a legend in your own time, but the time of legends is over, there are only the Yeerks!> proclaimed the enemy Andalite I took it was this 'Visser Three'.

It was then our crouching selves saw our first demonstration of morphing, possibly the worst introduction to the ability we could have. Visser morphed from quadruped to biped, swarms of tendrils sprouting on each arm, arm-length fangs bursting out from his mouth, as he now dwarfed Elfangor. It took him only seconds to shred and devour Elfangor, the alien who'd just given us powers. Junko even pushed the nearby Sayaka and Touko to the ground so their eyes would be spared the gruesome sight, though it wasn't like that mattered much, with the dying Elfangor's thought-screams seared into our heads.

Surrounded by alien soldiers, Elfangor slain this early on, my only thought was How do we get out of here?

[ ] "Head as fast as we can in the opposite direction"
[ ] "We'll split into two groups of five"
[ ] "Five groups of two, now"
[ ] "Any animals around? If that monster's already morphing, we should be too"
[ ] "Let's lie low right here, don't make a sound"
[ ] Write-in.

[x] "Five groups of two, now"

This is likely the best way all of them can escape, and if one group get captured, at least they can buy time I guess...

I don't actually know anything bout Dangan Ronpa I'm just here because Animorphs

[X] "Five groups of two, now"

I know jack shit about Animorphs but I do know Danganronpa and this seems to be an interesting premise.

Okay...I'm going to be frank, this bodes ill, because these kids are probably more inclined to fight each other then the Yeerks, and the Yeerks are mind-control slugs and they don't even know about that important bit of information.
...Frankly? I expect half of them to be turned nigh immeadiately, especially since I think one of the important bits of Danganropa to basically boil down to 'who can you trust', though that's just meme absorbtion.
If my ideas are right that mixes quite poorly with Animorphs, given even the original was kind of a deconstruction, which...Bodes ill for this quest. How, precisely are we going to win this?

By going even more off the grid and survivalist crazy then the original animorphs I'd guess.

#2. The Split
"Five groups of two, now" I ordered with a hiss at the nine others around me. Given Junko's proximity to me, I grabbed her wrist and bolted off, while still trying to keep my head low. As the two of us fled, I spied over my shoulder Sayaka taking off with Kiyotaka, Leon with Aoi, and Hifumi with Touko. Despite the situation, Byakuya seemed reluctant to head off on his own with anyone, but found himself stuck with Celestia.

Given the flighty, irresponsible nature she'd exhibited, I shouldn't have expected her to come dutifully. Yet to my surprise she did, until we were out of range of Visser Three enough for her to suddenly grab my arm back, swing around and stare at me.

"Really, this is your escape plan?" she questioned me, at least remembering to keep her voice low, "Didn't you ever hear 'bout safety in numbers, not to split the party? For all we know the others are getting eaten as we speak, and all 'cause you butted in to try taking charge".

"Who else was?" I told her, staring back, "Regardless Enoshima, could you keep any arguments until after we've lost these... aliens?".

Junko groaned and still side-eyed me, but otherwise said nothing more.
Someone else however, called out quite loudly in a voice I recognised too well. "They went this way, they won't escape!" said what sounded like none other than...

"F-Father?" I picked up on his voice, and was sent dropping to my knees. I had heard Elfangor saying that these Yeerks could possess people, but did that mean even my father, Kirigiri Jin, was... I supposed my grandfather would only say he had it coming.

"Oh my God, whatever it is, snap out of it! Unless you want to be Yeerk food" Junko rasped at me, before her gaze darted around to spot a greyish-black, frill-collared cat wandering around.
"Hey, that alien guy said we can morph into animals with a touch, right? Then here's our chance to escape" Junko said as she tried to pick it up and handed it over to me. Unfortunately as she did, it immediately began wailing and scratching at us, giving me but a tiny window of time to place my hands on it and 'acquire its morph'.

"Over here, we have the Andalites!" I heard my father yell out to that pack of beaked blade monsters Visser Three had with him. Hiding behind a trashcan while I could, I felt my whole body contract and squeeze itself in, like I was struggling to fit into too small and outfit, until Junko and I had taken on that cat's form exactly.
Thorough as the transformation was, my eyesight had narrowed and could no longer see as many colours, though on the upside the length of my vision had reasonably increased.

Seeing two humans suddenly turn into identical copies of itself, this cat shrieked and ran off in the opposite direction, unfortunately ending up right in the path of those fanged worms. Not having any more time to look back, Junko and I scampered our way into a dark and narrow alley.

<See, what did I tell ya?> she 'said' to me as we ran, only for me to almost freeze.

<How- how were you able to speak without moving your mouth?> I had to ask, noticing I too seemed to be communicating telepathically.

<Er, 'cause all cats can thought-speak?> Junko shrugged, as much as a cat could.

<Wait, Elfangor could also communicate like this,> I thought-said, <Maybe this ability also came with the Escafil Device?>

<Wow, he sure was generous. Then again, he was kinda forced to be, given him being hunted,> Junko remarked, before she insisted, <By the way, don't let this thought-speech thing get to you! No peeking into my head, ya hear?>

I wasn't sure I even could. Given the activity of but a single brain, I assumed that if I could pick up just any thought, I'd be having overload from them right now.

We soon made it off the construction site and from there only had a little while to go until we reached Hope's Peak Academy... which my father was Headmaster of. My father who was now either Yeerk-infested, or worse, a willing collaborator.

As we approached, we saw both Byakuya and Celestia had made it out in one piece, with Celestia seeing me still in cat morph, squealing, and rushing over.
"Oh, my little Grand Bois Cheri, come to Mummy why don't you?" she beamed down at me, picking me up in one hand and pulling out a hairbrush with the other. I could now comprehend why her 'Grand Bois' wasn't much of a fan of being held by human hands.

"Frankly, I don't get your concern," Byakuya had to butt in, "If your cat ended up in the hands of those 'Yeerks', such pets are common enough that you could easily buy another. You'd have more than enough money to, wouldn't you, Gambler?" he felt the need to taunt.

"How dare you!" Celestia spat back at him for that, "My dear Grand Bois Cheri is one of a kind, more than any price tag- Huh, w-what the-?" she muttered out as, right on cue, she saw a second Grand Bois approach.

Unlike me, Junko then had the chance to morph right back to human, as she said, "Whoo, first morph!" before a snarling Celestia came right up and yanked her tie.

"You- you would use my Grand Bois Cheri for a mere morphing test run?!" Celestia fumed at Junko.

"Hey, those Yeerk guys were right on my tail, I had to do something!" Junko was able to raise her voice right back at her, myself not knowing if she was aware of the pun or not.

While Celestia was distracted, I took the chance to slowly morph back to human while she was in her glaredown with Junko. De-morphing felt almost like I was stretching back out after crouching down, well, that and the 'sensation' of all my bones and organs snapping back into place.

"Can we break it up?" was all I said to the two, though I added in general, "Anyway, shouldn't we wait until the others have made it back? We need... everyone we can get in a situation like this".

"The Hall Monitor and the Baseball Boy have already gone inside," Byakuya told me, using titles when I was sure he knew Kiyotaka's and Leon's actual names, "The sheer thought of being late to school, or having another be late, was apparently enough motivation for the former to speed back faster than any alien could make him. The others still lag behind though".

"What? Then we've got to head back for them!" Junko was quick to shout out.

"And risk being even later?" Byakuya asked, "A fine impression on your first day at Japan's most elite academy".

"Fuck school, human lives are on the line!" Junko snarled out. I was not in favour of leaving anyone to die myself, though I wouldn't quite phrase it like that, but concerns were creeping up on me about Junko's ever more argumentative nature.

"Hey, got your 'human lives' right here" Leon then said, as he walked into the school courtyard with Aoi.

"Yeah, that whole experience was, wow, s-scary," Aoi muttered, but perked up with, "Still, we're all here now, aren't we?".

"Unfortunately not. That Hifumi and author girl still haven't arrived," Celestia muttered, before a thin smile crossed her lips, "I do hate to be a downer, but as they haven't shown up by now, they are most likely dead. However, if luck has let them live by now, then surely they will make it back here in due time. And as that Hall Monitor knows, it's a good idea for us to not keep our school waiting."
Her eyes then darted back and forth as her composure waned. "Unless, of course, if it's to locate Grand Bois Cheri, I have absolutely no clue where he's gotten to. H-he isn't usually like this, he tends to stay put..." she gasped.

"Suit yourselves, but I'm not going to embarrass the Togami name by failing to show up at the entrance ceremony" Byakuya said as he walked off toward the doors.

I gritted my teeth at this immediate conundrum, but finally I said:

[ ] "Ludenberg is sadly right. If Fukawa and Yamada haven't escaped the Yeerks by now, they are most likely dead. We should just get to class, before any more attention is drawn to us"
[ ] "Enoshima, crudely as she put it, is correct. If what Elfangor said is true, we need every helping hand we can get. We have to find Fukawa and Yamada now"
[ ] "Ishimaru, if he's any good at his job, would not place being on time once over the lives of his fellow students. We have to inform him and Maizono, then head out to search"
[ ] "...The Headmaster of Hope's Peak, my own father, is likely controlled by a Yeerk, hard as it is for me to admit. If Fukawa and Yamada have been captured and taken anywhere, chances are they're inside our school"
- [ ] "We'll search the school now"
- [ ] "We'll wait till class break"

Best put this card on the table now, rather than later.

Also, there's a distinct chance Toko wasn't captured, if only because Jack might save her ass.

Course, that might lead to a whole nother set of problems...

Also: Where the heck is real Junko? And why is Mukuro is Junko-disguise mode?

EDIT: Wait a minute, the students seem to have had their memories meddled with, if they have no memory of Mukuro or think Junko had freckles. Something's real fucky.

Well I do offer private Spoilers as Omake Rewards, eheh

That said, I do want to warn people that Kyoko telling the others that her father's likely a Yeerk Controller (the term Animorphs uses for someone possessed by a Yeerk) will also make them immediately suspicious of her by association. I assumed at first it'd be obvious from the situation and everyone's personalities, but just in case

Eh, they'd find out eventually, and if we didn't mention it, it'd just be worse down the road. Best rip the band-aid off right now.

Pretty much, we gotta convince them to go save people. And this would come out sooner or later.

Also the rule is that any Jake analog's life is suffering unless they get to go dog morph

Dunno anything about Animorphs, but yeah, if we want to build trust, it starts with being honest. Trust bought with lies is usually just a disaster waiting to happen.

Though I am somewhat confused as to what the option is, action wise? Is Kyoko just going to wait till after class to go looking for Toko and Yamada? Or will she just do what Enoshima suggested, but lead the search in the school?

The second 'lead the search but in the school' was more what I had in mind, but people could certainly vote for 'wait till class ends, then go searching' if they wanted

I've now edited the story post if anyone would like to specify their vote. If nothing is specified then I'll assume people voted for 'We'll search the school now'

Gotcha. Then I guess the only real drawback with the current option is the loss of trust, but if it gets us better odds of finding Yamada and Toko, then yeah, not seeing any real reason to go for the other options. Especially since Toko could start scissoring if she gets left alone, and that's gonna make things more complicated.

As votes are unanimous here, I'll be going with 'We'll search the school now' since I said that's what the choice defaults to

#3. The Argument
"...The Headmaster of Hope's Peak, my own father, is likely controlled by a Yeerk, hard as it is for me to admit. If Fukawa and Yamada have been captured and taken anywhere, chances are they're inside our school" I strained to voice those words.

Leon, throwing any respect to the wind, burst into laughter and said, "Typical, knew getting into this damn school was too good to be true. 'You're the best students ever and the hope of the nation', bullshit, the freakin' Principal's an alien puppet".

Yet I still preferred that reaction to Byakuya's, who narrowed his gaze and bent down to look into my ear, before he said, "If you expect me to take your word that your own father is Yeerk-enslaved, then how am I supposed to trust you aren't one too?".

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxpK970etms

"Yeah, um, sorry for ganging up on you like this, Kyoko, but from the sound of it, you can't tell a Yeerk Controller and a regular person just from looking at 'em" Aoi reluctantly chimed in.

I tensed, but quickly countered their suspicions with, "Elfangor wouldn't have let us anywhere near the Escafil Device if he knew there were Yeerks among us".

"Yeah, plus he was a war veteran against the Yeerks, right? Wouldn't be a stretch for the guy to have had advanced Yeerk-finding tech, I mean, he could travel through space and all" Junko argued as she stepped in.

"Huh, expected that you two would put so much faith in this Elfangor. Infallible he was not, he wouldn't currently be Yeerk-food otherwise" Byakuya snarled and crossed his arms.

"Also, dear Kirigiri, I must say you're already quite suspicious yourself, even before you told us your father's with the Yeerks," Celestia said those words while smiling, "You're one of the few students at a school all about Talent to not reveal yours, and my my, why could that be? SHSL Nepotism Beneficiary, perhaps?".

I had to mentally withhold myself, hearing this girl who didn't even go by her real name say that to me. "My Talent has been kept private for confidential reasons, it is mine and the faculty's concern, not yours, Ludenberg".

Byakuya let out a chuckle at my words. "So you are saying that you have a secret arrangement going on with the school board, at a school that may already be Yeerk infested. You're clearly no Super High School Debater, whatever you are" he said.

"Hey, Kyoko probably didn't know a thing about Yeerks or Andalites or whatever when she chose to hide her Talent," Junko spoke up for me again, "And 'sides, you wanna actually do something 'bout all the Yeerk guys, or do you wanna just waste time around here arguing?".

"Determining whether one of us is an alien infiltrator is hardly 'wasting time'," Byakuya huffed, "Furthermore, even assuming Elfangor was correct in there being no Yeerks controlling us, that doesn't rule out Kyoko becoming infested by one on the way here. It could even explain how she knew her father was with the Yeerks".

"Um yeah, I call bull on that," Junko said and crossed her arms, "I was with Kyoko the whole way here, no aliens or whatever got anywhere near her brain. Well, except those freaky blade-monsters, but like any of those guys could slither inside someone's brain".

"Hey, that could just mean you got Yeerk'd on the way here too, for all we know" Leon butted in.

Junko gritted her teeth, but then turned to Celestia, "Hey Celes, you saw how I morphed into your cat, right?".

"Why yes, and without my prior consultation, I. Might. Add" Celestia snarled at that topic being brought back up.

"Listen, you think your cat would ever let us touch him if we were Yeerk puppets?" Junko's point came across. I myself tend to avoid any emotional appeals, but I could see what Junko was going for.

"...What do you mean by 'us'?" Celestia's expression grew worse.

"Seriously? A cat of all things is meant to determine whether or not you are now Yeerks?" Byakuya sighed, but was then approached by a fuming Celestia.

"Do you dare badmouth my Grand Bois Cheri, is that what I'm hearing?" she hissed at him.

I took a deep breath as I was about to bring up another point, a point that could shift the subject back away from Celestia's cat, of all things. "Listen, by no means am I on close terms with my father. While he dedicated himself to Hope's Peak, he left me alone with my grandfather. Collaborators with him I am not" I told them probably what I should've said from the start.

Byakuya groaned, but said, "Fine, I'll take you on your word, for now, I've likely missed the entrance ceremony already thanks to you lot. But don't think I'll be letting my guard down". He then stomped off into the school.

"Well hey, um, if Touko and Hifumi are still missing, us trying to find them should come first. Like, being Hope's Peak students makes us pretty well-known throughout all of Japan, so do we really need to tell everyone our talents at the ceremony when they know them already?" it was Aoi who made the remark.

Though she meant well, I could've frozen hearing those words. "Yes, all of Japan... knows who we are..." I was left mumbling.

"Great, our identities being plastered everywhere gives the Yeerks an instant lead on us! Ugh, why did that 'El-fang-or' guy think entrusting us with stopping this invasion or whatever was at all a good idea?" Leon snarled.

"Hey, the guy had been shot down and was dying, like, I doubt you'd do any better if you were in his situation," Junko told him, but sighed as she admitted, "Still, you've gotta point. like, I wouldn't know the first thing about guerrilla warfare, um, which I think is kinda what you could compare all this to, what with Elfangor. I can definitely see how our identities being this famous could totally screw us all over".

"Let's just get inside," I put bluntly, before this argument could continue, "We shouldn't leave Fukawa and Yamada hanging".

My father believed in Hope's Peak as a school for the best of the best, an academy for the most talented students in their fields, who'd shape Japan's if not the world's future. He'd neglected to add back then who'd that future would be shaped for, his Yeerk friends.

Walking down the corridors of Hope's Peak that day was an experience like never before for me... but not in the way the school advertised. It dawned on me that I had no way of telling whether any student or teacher I passed in the halls was fully human anymore, that any schoolkid at their locker or a teacher gathering notes could be an alien invader for all I knew. Various incidents in the past had made me suspicious of certain people before, but never just... anyone.

One student that particularly stood out to me was the pompadour-sporting, trenchcoated Owada Mondo, the Super High-School Level Biker Gang Leader, as he was currently being reprimanded by none other than my own father.

"I expect to see you in my office, Owada, given your behaviour as of late," my father told him vaguely, before... he had to turn around and look at me, "You two, Kyoko, I expected better of you on your first day at your own family's Academy".

"Tch, fine, whatever fuckface," Mondo snarled at my father, before he glanced in my direction and had to smirk. "Aw how cute, Headmaster's daughter thinks being late is enough to qualify her as a rebel" he had to mock me.

I gritted my teeth, but did ask my father, "I was late with a group of others, so I'd like to inquire why you are singling me out among them?".

He sighed, then said, "Those who missed the entrance ceremony will be questioned in due time. But Kyoko, you all of students should know better, hence why I'd like to speak to you personally".

Mondo's own 'rebel' credentials were immediately called into question when he still followed my father back to his office, all the way up on the fourth floor. "Kyoko, wait outside until I'm done with this young man" my father looked down and instructed me to sit.

Normally someone like Owada Mondo would launch into a stream of profanities upon being reprimanded like this... but that wasn't what I could make out at all. Already suspicious, I thought to morph cat again as there was nobody outside the Headmaster's office right now. Just to be safe however, I tested out if I could concentrate my morphing to just my ears, and while it took some time to get my morphing centred on them, I did feel my lobes changing to be furry and pointed.

My father's conversation with Mondo was far less muffled now, an while it was definitely Mondo's voice I was hearing, his tone now sounded entirely out of character for him.
"-Agreed, then the scheduled return to the Pool tonight shall proceed as normal?" he asked my father in a monotone voice, with me doubting he meant the regular school pool.

"Yes, while capturing any Andalites who may have arrived on Earth remains our priority, we can not risk showing them any weakness. The regeneration must go on," my father, or rather his controlled vocal chords, said more stilted than usual, "I shall entrust you to wrangle any Hork-Bajir in-between reinfestation, your host's strength may come in handy for that".

"Provided I don't snag this vessel's skin on any of their blades" came Mondo's Controller's attempt at a joke. From context, I took it the Hork-Bajir were those bladed, lizard-like foot-soldiers in Visser Three's retinue.

"Ah, Kirigiri Kyoko, there you are" a voice said out to me, as I turned and saw Kiyotaka had approached, "Called to the Headmaster's Office already, I see? Suppose that'll teach you to miss our opening ceremony, hmm?".

I could've spat out. "Ishimaru, you know all too well why I'm late. Aliens have already invaded Earth, and you saw the being who gave you shapeshifting powers get eaten alive before you, yet 'being late' is your biggest concern?" I hissed at him.

"Well, um, still, no reason to flaunt school rules," Kiyotaka tried to come back with, "Also, um, you're aware you happen to have cat ears now, right? A-Anyway, did the others make it back safe? I'm afraid Miss Maizono's still terribly shaken about this whole experience".

"Yeah, everyone except Fukawa and Yamada have made it back," I told him, before I also brought up, "By the way, you know about Owada Mondo, right?".

"That Biker Gang Leader, the very student being knocked sense into right now? Yes, I'm afraid I'm all too familiar with that brute's name" Kiyotaka said.

"Well he's currently controlled by a Yeerk" I told him flat out.

The normally resolute Kyotaka twitched on hearing that, "Oh, how unfortunate. As little as I approve of Mr. Owada, I-I certainly wouldn't have wished that fate upon him. You don't think..." he gasped, "That Headmaster Kirigiri's at risk of being infested right now?".

"...I'm afraid he's long been," I forced myself to say that. I had no idea how to break that news to Kiyotaka, hell I was still processing it, so I decided to get to the point. "Not just our Headmaster, my father... slave to a Yeerk".

"What? No, impossible, that can't be true!" Kiyotaka exclaimed, so loud I was worried he'd alert the Yeerks in the other room, but he then had to ask, "Wait, ahem, the Headmaster is your father?".

"Well yeah, how many other Kirigiris do you know?" I stared at him.

"Ah, I'm sorry, it's just I didn't wish to assume, that was all" Kiyotaka said.

I had to sigh at that, all while this talk of 'Yeerk Pools' and 'regeneration' threw new complications on everything.

[ ] Finding wherever, or whatever, this Yeerk Pool is should be my priority. There's ten of us, so I can send others to find Touko and Hifumi.
[ ] My mission of finding Hifumi and Touko hasn't changed, I'll just send some others to try finding this Yeerk Pool.
[ ] I'm not much of a people person, but I should go see Sayaka and how she's handling all of this.
[ ] It's likely where Touko and Hifumi are and where the Yeerk Pool is are one and the same.
[ ] Before anything, we need to stock up on Morphs. It's possible Byakuya or Celeste, with their fortunes, might be able to find us some rare animals.
[ ] Write-in.

... Alright, the options here are a little confusing? What exactly would Kyoko be doing with each given option? Also, are these options dialogues for Kyoko to say or just the thoughts in her head?

Thoughts in her head, I would've put quotation marks around them if she was speaking. You're basically voting on what she's prioritising for now, finding the Yeerk Pool, finding Touko and Hifumi, comforting Sayaka, acquiring more Morphs, or thinking she'll find Touko and Hifumi at the Yeerk Pool. At the same time, since there's eight of you, some of the other characters can still focus on the other tasks here

So what's the difference between finding the Yeerk Pool, finding Toko and Hifumi, and thinking she'll find Toko and Hifumi at the Yeerk pool? They all sound like pretty much the same thing.

Okay...So I guess that's how these guys don't immeadiately get flash-mobbed and Yeerk'd.
I still maintain they're playing a game of how long they can last versus a fight they can win though.
