For the past year, you... honestly weren't really sure what you were supposed to do. Thinking about your past was difficult, the only thing even somewhat coherent was that you had left some kind of facility with five others only to lose track of each of them.
Who were they? Were they suppose to be important? Yet the more you tried to think about them or anything else, the harder it was. Two guys, three girls- presumably you were the sixth of whatever group they were.
"Reeex, you gonna focus or what?" Calmly blinking, you glance over at Willow Russel- the girl looking at you questioningly, but from what you've gathered that's supposed to be some sigh of concern.
Honestly, if it wasn't for Willow and her sister Maribelle, you're mostly certain you would of been roaming around blindly still- presumably, you didn't remember much from your past.
Still, the last year you could remember- mostly, it hadn't been all that exciting. "How is this not cool? Rex, you need to actually engage." Her green eyes stare at you, kindly but judgingly.
You don't see why it matters, its just a place filled with people doing things- nothing interesting about that. "I really don't see why I should care." In response Willow pouts, gesturing towards the researcher talking to the rest of the class.
"Seriously? Not like they're the biotech company, with international reach and full devotion to making people's lives better." Oh, really? Huh, you were under the impression this 'Life Parasol' thing was supposed to be important.
"Okay, why are we even here?" In response she sighs, rubbing the sides of her head. "Really? I was being sarcastic. This is a pretty big deal, they should have loads more important things to do yet they're still bothering with us. The least you could do is show interest too Rex."
Again, you really don't get the big deal- sure, given all the people moving about, they're probably doing something but you still don't get it. "How is this important to the objective? Seeing what they do helps us how?"
Yet she looks frustrated, her fingers curling with an angry-sounding sigh before she thrusts her arms down by her sides. "Everything they do is about making things better, who wouldn't want to work for them?"
You want to respond, but... your head starts to ache, Willow catching you before you can fall. "Are you okay Rex?" Rubbing your head, that usually only happens when something tries to come to mind...
"Yeah, just one of my headaches, nothing important." Yet she still looks on in concern, it really isn't a big deal- just some water and you'll be fine. Starting to walk off, Willow shouts in confusion "Rex!? Where are you going!?"
That manages to get everyone else' attention, but you just shrug. "Restroom to wash my face?" Still she just looked concerned- and frustrated, she's honestly overreacting. "Just go back to doing whatever this is."
Her reaction, however, was to shout out "Rex!!" but again there's really no reason to hang around- not like you need help finding a Restroom. It confuses you how others seem to have difficulty navigating around, its really easy to follow the sensation technology gives off.
Finding a restroom with no difficulty, the only real issue was pulling down your facemask- so no real problems. It should of been simple, soothe your head and go back to Willow. Instead, your attention was caught by the sudden disappearance of a technological presence.
Even with your forgotten past, that feels like something you never encountered before- broken tech still gives off a presence, not nothing. Searching for the mysterious nothing, you don't really track of where you're going- not that you need to.
Once you draw nearer where you sensed the nothing, your eyes shift to the little cage sitting outside the door to one of the labs. This was roughly around where the nothing occurred, and yet not much stands out.
Besides, well, the little cage. You didn't need to get closer to tell it is meant to open automatically to release whatever is inside- which is certainly odd in its own right, if one is going to conduct a test of some kind.
Such carelessness... such disregard... it was a poor method of experimentation. Such is a sign of either idiocy or callousness. Feeling another headache coming on, you can't help dropping to your knees and right hand.
Foolish, trying to perform a task despite knowing you're not fit for it. The headache intensifies, meaning... this is something you need to stop thinking about... trying to focus on regaining your composure, you need to gain environmental awareness.
Yet that just makes it worse, but even haze of pain & confusion your mind still absently noted one thing- but your body did not react, before something bites your right hand. Reflexively your left hand slams down, being injured means being in danger- and danger is counterproductive to completing the objective.
Clutching your head with both hands, your head simply hurts from all these attempts to remember, and... there's also the fact your blood feels on fire. Your body feels so many forms of wrong right now, and honestly? You wish you knew why.
"Me too, I'm pretty confused honestly." Even though the pain felt gone, you were still on alert- an unfamiliar voice had spoke to you, that's usually a bad sigh. "Well excuse me, not like I asked to be here."
There was clearly no one else in the area, so... "Yep, hi, fancy place you got here. Your brain is weird, and what do I do now?" Said voice didn't seem to have an idea him(?)self, and while addressing the inexplicably-present voice in your head feels important...
You had meant to go right back to Willow before getting distracted by that sudden technological disappearance. Given you were pretty much rolling around in pain, lingering here too long seems a bad idea.
-- (What to do?)
[] Return to Willow and the rest of the class.
-"Hmm, Willow... huh..."
[] Question the voice on who they are.
-"Ah, isn't that the greatest question?"
[] The lab nearby should be where the nothing is...
-"Hey... how'd you even get back here?"

A/N: So, hi, before anyone says anything- this is actually a combination of a lot of different ideas I've had, and I don't wanna spoil things too much. The MC, Rex Ryder (cause rad- also plot) is obviously a quasi-amnesic who doesn't really question his odd abilities.
Secondly, there's a lot funky going on with the metaphysics, I'll just say "Interdimensional Black Market" and "Fey Shenanigans"- so yes, I know how this looks, I legitimately have a good reason that isn't merely "because".
Things will get much weirder once things get going, I wanna get to the cool stuff too but when it comes to writing I don't like rushing things. Trust me, I really want to show off who Rex really is, I've been wanting to write the general character concept for years now.
Anyways, go ahead and post- this is primarily a narrative kind of Quest, so not a lot of need for Informationals.
