Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

A rookie killing the former number 1, someone who survived a fight with Goddess Gold, in single combat is ridiculously crazy even by magical girl standards though.
Not really? The former number one has been killed before and the person that killed her is the same type. It's hardly overwhelming like when the locals realized MGs could throw down with the real heavy hitters.

An elf killing the former number 1 would have a leg up on getting OP, but I don't think this is as spectacular as you claim.

Not at all. Let's say someone hits James with an attack that does 6000 Damage and carries Sudden Death, while both Nepgear and Gabriel are on the field. If it doesn't negate Echo of Peace, it does 100 Damage. This is less than Presence of Light heals, so PoL would be negated. If it negates EoP instead, James takes 4,000 Damage.

For a different example, let's suppose the Sudden Death attack was Intercepted by an attack carrying Judgement or Smite (and is still affected by Echo of Peace), and the Intercept Damage is lower than the target's Base Resilience. Does EoP or Judgement/Smite get negated?

Or what if the target has a bunch of defensive buffs, which only barely add up to more than the damage—does the biggest buff get negated first, or the smallest, or is the Damage Reduction just reduced to Incoming Damage - 1, as I guessed before?

Or how about something like White Knight's Might of the King plus an Ability which, say, negates multi-hit Abilities?

I could keep going, but I think I've made my point.
...Point. Unfortunately I don't actually have an explicit O-Ops set out for it beyond "resilience last", so... I'll probably get back to you later.

I'm waiting for what I said to sink in.

So we've got, what, less than a week before Ichi is likely to show up explicitly for us?

Wait, no. I half-expect Ichi to be the 'final boss' of this segment, for some reason...

In a deliberate attempt to kill us, they wouldn't throw Ichi at us first. At least, not alone, I don't think. No, there's another choice, potentially 'better' both narratively and strategically.

Juggernaut Drive.

Her grave is empty, and has been for at least two weeks... at least I'm 99% sure it's her grave back in 'Malevolent Gear'. "My Juggernaut", indeed.

Or the two of them together. That would be nasty, teamwork-viable though the pair probably isn't the Unified Dark would be throwing two targets at us, and we'd be trying to destroy their seals... Fantastic.

Ehh, its not really a surprise. After beating up the Old Guard and Sixth Heaven, there isn't really anyone besides Grey or Red they could throw at us.

I'm sure they've got a few tricks available yet, Juggernaut Drive among them.

I haven't read the thread, so I've got no idea if Juggernaut Core is even a thing... but that could also be a nasty problem.

and here I was afraid they'd try and keep Ichi away from us after Nepgear and Co broke the control seals on four of the Old Guard. Glad to know they are going to make rescuing Ichi easier for us.

I don't suppose you have a plan to keep Goddess Grey from toying with Nepgear for an hour then squashing her like a bug? And Core Breach melting Ichi, unlikely as that event is, isn't even a win because Goddess Red can rez Ichi again.

Solid Core can't beat Red Rose right now, what makes you think we'll be able to unseal Goddess Grey?

By what we've seen her defenses are active and would not work against auras. Normally she'd be too durable for us but the seal is kind of squishy. So if we got the jump on her we could pop her seal turn one, all we'd have to do is get the jump on one of the most experienced MG's who has spent years commanding troops and living in an assassination prone environment.

so I would say it's most desperate hope.

Sadly no:
Nope. Juggernaut Core is a non-thing.
There never was a Juggernaut Core. Cores are based on the Sisters from Neptunia, and Juggernaut Drive is a Vert expy.

Yeah; Juggernaut Drive is scary. For instance:
Lemme expand on this real quick:

-If Juggernaut Drive engages in an Intercept Conflict, she automatically casts The Unstoppable Spear, regardless of who triggers the Intercept.
Oh and to save you from having to look up those Abilities:
Unstoppable: Negate all resistances.

Overwhelm: Allows the spell/weapon to utilize the Overwhelm version of the Intercept ability, even if the user doesn't have it themselves. If it's on the spell, it allows the spell to trigger the Intercept.

Scale to Target: Allows the Damage of a weapon/spell to use multiples of the Target's HP as it's damage counter.

Remember Control Seals make fights like this a lot easier:
... You know, it just dawned on me that a lot of the up coming boss fights are made easier by the whole Seal thing.
because we don't have to kill our target. We just have to destroy the seal and it's an instant KO. Frankly Goddess Grey playing around with us is a good thing since we know Gabriel's Presence of Light can wear away at Control Seals.

Actually, I was thinking up a strategy for a while. Not sure if it works... but it very well might.
I asked a while ago if Presences are negated by Overwhelming Presence, which they are not unless the OP specifically says it does.

Which means that for as long as we have Gabriel nearby, we just need to stall Ichi for ten turns (at most, maybe our Angel upgrades PoL in the meantime), which is less than two minutes. The seal will burn out if we manage that.

My go-to solution in that regard would be to throw James at her. Nepgear might be able to tank whatever Ichi throws anyway... but still. James fought her back before and the girl does not have an unlimited number of attacks per turn, only more than we have.
I just looked at her Spells again... and she can barely even scratch us with her strongest damage, unless Echo procs a few times in a row. We could tank her indefinitely, especially with Segarite Core healing us ever higher.

In the case Gabriel is not around, we could as well try Core Purge... even though Ichi can negate that one. If we get it out, we win as well.

Unless there is something that protects Ichi from this... we actually have pretty good chances to take her down.
The only real problem would be to keep her from our squishy teammates.

Ah, yeah; my only exposure to Neptunia is through Swordo's quest.

Thanks.

A relief, though, that the Unified Dark can't send their reincarnated Juggernaut Drive to 'rescue' her sister, like what Sega tried with us.

Yeah; Juggernaut Drive is scary. For instance:

That is scary, thanks. Well, in the 'you gave me information' way, not in the 'oh god the information is scary as fuck' way.

Remember Control Seals make fights like this a lot easier:

On the one hand, yep.

On the other... hopefully we've got our party with us. So, let's try to avoid splitting the party for the next... two weeks.

Oops. Hm... After this event.

My money's on Grey bucking the trend and staying conscious if we preform a seal break. Her screwing around until Gabriel busts the seal sounds amusing. That drops us into trying to talk our way out of dying.

Is Solid Core immune to Purity attacks that have Unstoppable? She was immune to Purge back when a pair of zombies almost killed her (and boy doesn't that sum up her power curve).

I am actually expecting the same thing. crystal did mention that people usually drop unconcious because they can not take the mental strain... and Ichi is probably beyond that kind of thing.

By the way, my suspicion on where that strain originates from is that upon the destruction of the seal, the affected person's mind instantly realigns itself back to how it originally was.
It would make sense for people to pass out when their mind... uh... unfucks itself, for lack of a better term.

Actually I'd place my bet on Ichi not only being KO'd but also unconscious, well more like comatose, for a really long time. Remember Hope fell around late 2006 early 2007 and it's currently something like the middle of 2011. So we're looking at easily four years under Red's Control Seal.

Suddenly being freed would be a massive shock to her system. More so considering that she's made a life for herself. Realizing how many innocent people she's murdered and how she's been fighting alongside team evil is going to be a massive BSOD moment for Ichi.

We need to make sure she knows that Goddes Golds tramp stamp is on us so she takes a chill pill after her skill unfucks itself,

Then we have to figure out of to unfuck Reds head without mind control. The light will probably maybe be able to deal if we can get her to Rez all the things and seal her army spell.

Whether she would become comatose is up to debate, but this one I agree with. However, there is the added note of Ichi also having learned to know the UD and its people; she will probably be unable to see them as just The Enemy again.

I think it was mentioned before that Ichi would not be willing to join the war again, even if we brought her back... or something like that.

Well the quest end when Nep attack Hopes so we don't really have to worry too much about that headache..

Still a massive headache.

they were afraid enough of the Older Sisters that they dropped the scariest godsdamned MG they had on them in less than a month

and we're set to outdo them

...wait shit

how long before they drop Ichi on us?

edit: where did all those posts come from?
