Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

So, I kind of based this off of the question marks in the Wail of Madness upgrade translating to "A Goddess", Rei having Gehaburn (plus it being multi-dimensional), and Uber's most recent omake.

----

Spinning around you see Rei standing before you in all her resplendent glory. What gets you though is her eyes. There is none of the warmth and love you've come to know in them. To her your not her beloved pet Nepgear. Your just a strange new Magical Girl.

Everything is gone. All the friends you've made are strangers once more. All your struggles to desperately survive in the face of monsters never happened. Your sister lies dead outside your home once more. For the second time in your life you've lost everything.

It hurts.

It hurts so much that you want to scream. To break down and cry until nothing is left. Even just roll over and die.

You just lost everything. Again. Its too much.

So... why are you laughing?

You can't really comprehend it. You don't understand. You're crying, but... also laughing? And its a full body laugh. Something that probably would have broken one of your ribs by now if you still had them.

You don't understand.

And then there's a pulse from you.

Rei stops.

And then an answering one from inside her.

Rei moves. But you can't escape what's already in you.

Chains shooting out to bind you, fall limp. A purple sword, sprouting from her chest. Red eyes, once warm and loving, now cold and defiant, empty into death.

And so passes Goddess Gold, to a pet she never got to adopt, to an ally she never knew she had, to a sister she never got to know.

You had frozen mid-laugh. Watching her die, looking in her eyes. Seeing her curse you without a word spoken. Having her blood splash across your face... and in your mouth.

You had frozen. And power danced across where the blood hit. Tangible, heavy power. And something in your Core hungered for it. It was all you could do not to swallow it.

And then the sword sung.
She didn't notice as the tank came up behind them.
She heard it. Not with her ears, but with her magic, with her mind even.
She didn't notice as the crew fell out of the tank, trying to run away.
It sung to her of her family, and friends. And showed her its power. How she could set everything right again.
She didn't notice as the crew all killed each other in their madness.
And it just needed the power. The death of Goddesses. And its not like any of the other one's are good anyway. I mean they're all trying to destroy the world one way or another, right? Right.
How they even turned their guns on themselves to get away from it.
And even if it didn't work, it could just use Goddess Red's power to bring back her sister and the others for her. ...O-oh, not Rei? O-oh, well that's okay. If it needed Rei's soul to stay in it in order to bring back others, there wasn't much she could do, right? Right.
You can't help but giggle.
Oh, right. Sega always said to be polite, didn't she? Right, your name is Anastasia.
Your tongue darts out to lick more power off of your face.
What is it's name?
Your outfit slowly turns black.
Gehaburn? ...No, its a good name! Kind of like Caliburn from the King Arthur stories. This thing's body has even turned to stone, so its even more like the legends. ...You giggle, its seems to like the comparison, even if it is grumbling over how bright Caliburn is.

"Well," your hand wraps around the hilt, "its nice to meet you Gehaburn," you stand over the stone its buried into, "please take care of me," and you pull.

I'm not very good with finding music... would have used something more dark, but... *Shrug*

So it's a option of last resort then? Anything similar in the original serious I could check out?
The first game and it's remake.
Of course, but that type of limit generally tends to be higher when asking something really specific like that as a yes/no question....................within reason.
Sorry. Will say this: you've been all-but-told what you need to do to trigger it in at least two updates.

As it turns out though, her mother's pasta wasn't Aquila's favorite. Instead it was apparently her younger sister's. Who had died at Reluxus. This lead to the elf finding a corner to have a small breakdown in, leaving you grimacing after her in worry.

ouch,

James found out that his favorite pizza was Jessica's home-made pizza. And though the soldier didn't cry, you could feel his melancholy whenever you looked at him for the rest of the event.

really?

Michael, after tasting the chicken on display had simply clamped his mouth shut, and headed over to Aquila's breakdown corner himself. You knew it was most likely something to do with Gabriel, so you said nothing and let him have his space.

Oh come on!

god damn it, this is the beach episode! why are we having breakdowns in the beach episode!

I wrote this in one sitting, while somewhat sleep deprived, and I can't think of a fancy title. Not that it deserves one, anyway. I hope you like it, and good night.

=---=-=---=

It was a battle beyond anything ever seen before. The legions of Light and Darkness met each other and slaughtered one another on a unimaginable scale.

Angels, demons and nightmares fought in the sky, flashes of light and blasts of darkness crossed the heavens, Hellfire and Surging Waters met and annihilated each other amd the very space was rent asunder as the aerial warriors fought for dominion over the sky.

On the ground, the Elven Army warred with the Legions of Hell in a bloody melee. The enormous beasts of Hell charged the battleline only to be stopped on their tracks by the hallowed cannons of Humanity's Tank Battalions. The new models were so massive that they had more in common with iron castles or Battleships given threads than their predecessors, their secondary guns were only slightly smaller than the models they replaced and their main cannons were large enough to blow a hole straight through mountains.

They were called Saviours, each given the names of Heroes and Saints. Behemoths of enchanted steel, they were the embodiment of Mankind's anger, made especially for this battle. They were made for Humanity to conquer Hope once again.

But even they were dwarfed by the great castle that floated above them. A mountain of Hellish steel stood in between the Heavens and the earth, raining death all around it. It's cannons were the reason the Elven Armies had retreated behind the ensorcelled shields of the Fairy sorcerers and the protective umbrella of the Saviours. It's main cannon was the sole reason there was a dead zone separating the aerial fight from the ground combat.

The armies were at an impasse. The forces of Light were for once much stronger than the Army of Darkness, but they couldn't advance as long as that fortress was still there.

After hours of grueling battle, the generals of the Unified Light had finally concocted a plan to silence the Flying Fortress.

Said plan involved putting you and Rei inside a hastily designed bullet and firing you from one of the Saviours straight into the middle of the barrel of the Fortress' main cannon.

"This is insane." You said yet again. You hoped that if you said it enough times the generals would finally understand the sheer madness of what they were proposing.

"We understand your reservations, Solid Core, but this is the only plan that has any chance of working." Said the General, who seemed so much less insane when you met him the other morning.

"That damn thing won't let us advance, and if we retreat our ground forces will be right inside its firing arc." He continued, pointing at a screen showing the projected firing arc of the Flying Fortress's main weapon. It seemed Hell's propensity towards grandiose displays and enormous weapons had saved you all. Your forces were all nestled right in the weapon's blind spot when the fortress took to the air.

The Fortress couldn't tilt itself down far enough to fire at you, and if it lowered its altitude it'd enter the effective range of the Saviours, which could reliably damage it. On the other hand, nothing but the enormously powerful cannons of the Saviours, focused on a single area, could do any real damage without getting close enough to risk retaliation from the secondary guns and Anti-air magical cannons.

The only Magical Girl they had that might be able to destroy it was Rei, but the last time they tried to deploy her there the entire army seemed to concentrate their fire on her, forcing her to retreat.

Thus, the ridiculous plan.

"So, let's recap." The General, whose name you couldn't recall for the life of you, had turned around to face the other leaders on the conference screens.

"Magical Girls Goddess Gold and Solid Core will board the hollow shell and be fired from this Saint George towards the Fortress, Codenamed Dragon." He gestured to another screen, showing a video feed from outside the Saviour you were in, the Flying Fortress dominating the view. "We've been shelling them nonstop for a while now, so they shouldn't notice anything amiss."

The General gestured again, and the screen shifted into a wireframe animation of the Dragon, with a tiny Saviour at the bottom.

"The Shell will split open when it reaches its maximum Altitude, allowing Goddess Gold and Solid Core to fire straight into the beast's mouth."

As he spoke, the tiny Saviour in the animation fired an even tinier shell. Said shell flew in an arc until it was right in front of the Dragon's main cannon. The tiny shell then cut itself in half and two released two pixels.

Then huge beams that covered half the screen shot out of the pixels, destroying the flying castle.

It was almost funny, but the knowledge you would be one of those pixels stopped you from laughing.

"The combined damage will destroy the main cannon and most of the frontal AA batteries, allowing us to sortie our reserve air wings to finish off the beast."

The animation concluded with a bunch of fly-sized fighter jets bombing the remains of the fortress.

The General made a sweeping gesture towards the other commanders. "Any objections to this plan?"

The other leaders of the Unified Light stared at the human General with harsh expressions.

"This is insane." Spoke the Supreme General of the Elven Empire. You couldn't help but mutter a tiny "That's what I said..."

"Completely ridiculous." Said the commander of the Fairy Forces. You nodded in agreement, absently saying "I know, right?"

"This is the craziest idea I've ever heard and considering how long I've been working with humanity, that's saying something." Added Archangel Michael.

You crossed your arms and nodded with a satisfied expression. Thank god there were still people with common sense around here!

"Let's do it!" The High command of the Unified Light announced as one, making you stumble and fall on your ass. You looked at the leaders of the Forces of Light, betrayal clear on your face, but they seemed to pay no attention to you.

...Wait, Michael's lips are twitching. He's trying not to laugh! Damn you Michael!

And now he's burst out laughing at your look of fury. Yes, fury, not a pout. And the other leaders were trying to control a sudden coughing fit, the assholes!

The General raised a hand when they finally managed to control themselves, calling attention back to himself. "Well, since that's decided, the special shell should be ready to fire in a couple minutes. Gold, Solid, Corporal Matthews there will take you to your new ride. Operation Ascalon will begin shortly."

Rei got up from the chair where she was lounging in since the meeting started, but you just stayed there on the ground.

Your Owner/Big Sister came over to you and grabbed your arm. "C'mon, Nepgear. It ain't that bad." She said and hauled you to your feet. "At least it's an actual plan, yeah?"

You can't muster any strength to resist, so you let her drag you to your certain death. "Now, don't be like that. This isn't the worst idea I've been part in." You look at her with your best look of disbelief and she just nods in confirmation.

"Let me tell you about the one time I rode piggyback on this magical girl and we flew into the mouth of this Kaiju-sized nightmare..."

...Really? I give an two big hints, and no one starts speculating, nor gives a single rating?

Hmph, that's the last time I give hints.

She seems most likely to get herself/others killed, as she seems to let her fear/nerves get the better of her.
May as well fix that if we can

So I was thinking about our future upgrades, and there's an important question to ask. The answer to this question has a major effect on my opinions regarding our next upgrades.

In the upcoming battle to retake Hope, do we expect to fight primarily in squad based tactics, or do we expect Nepgear to go off and make maximum use of her more bullshit abilities while the rest of the team uses Core Connection to kick ass without her?

If we expect to stick with the group, Synchronize is a no brainer, followed by more upgrades to the Purifier Beam for improved interception.

If we expect to fight separately from our team, we should focus on Flight and our AOE attacks. With the glorious power of Supremacy Zone turning her into an aerial powerhouse whose completely immune to all groundbound attacks, Nepgear is now an ideal unit for the task of rushing in to destroy the opposing army's Anti-Air defenses. We would need higher Flight to get in and out before the rest of the UD army can react, and more powerful AOE attacks helps us get passed the Resilience of the high priority targets we're bombing.
