Crimson Festival [F/SN]

Checking in! I sent some stuff about my servant to you already. Was that enough, or do you need anything more? I'll get to my other prep plans in a bit, when I actually have time to think about them. :p

In general, more is better.

It's, uh, been a while, so I'm not totally clear on where everyone is. IIRC, I'd like to get a list of your sources, and a summary of what you know about it at least.

It basically works like this. I'll eventually get around to whatever needs doing on my own. However as observed, my turn-around time varies from "the very next day" to "a few months later". Them's the breaks, alas.

The thing you can do to alleviate this is to give me the kind of material that makes it really easy for me to transition from "research notes" to "scenario plan".

For Servants and Catalysts, that basically works like this:
I need an idea of where it is, and what it is. I don't care all that much about plausibility, though at least try to make nods towards it. You discovered this location in your nebulous backstory, and now intend to go there. What I need is to understand what kind of place it is. What does it look like, where is it placed, what myths surround it. With this I can actually present the location to you when I start doing initial IC stuff.
I need an idea of what protects it. If you don't have any, I'll likely make something up, because I've arbitrarily decided to make things difficult for all of you (in part to stress-test everything in a safe-ish setting - consider it your tutorial level if you like).
Finally I need an idea of how you're going to deal with it, because I need that to give the initial context when you encounter the first real issue.

Once I'm about ready, I'll then make some posts, and things will actually happen. :o

Alright!

I have enough stuff from Kensai, Magnificate and Spooky to start on their stuff. It won't be immediately because I have some other things I need to do (and I'm feeling ever so slightly under the weather), but we're good to go on starting their catalyst hunts.

So here's the thing.

Do you guys want to start the public IC thread now, or later?

I'm not hugely concerned with secrets and secret plans and whatnot personally, but some of you might not quite want to play all your cards immediately, or just feel it's more fun, so I want to ask first. Where do you want your catalyst hunt happening?

Keeping in mind that once the War proper starts, we'll most likely stick to an actual IC thread all the time.

I'm in favour of PMs, not because of privacy, but because several separate stories in one thread is going to be confusing to read.

I'd like it in public IC thread because it's fun to read the other stories and it can provide inspiration and motivation as well.

If we agree not to use knowledge about what happens to each other then I'd like the IC thread.

What i don't want is for it to become like a thread from a few years ago on SB where we'd pretty much be straight up lying in IC posts and making all our real posts in private messages to the GM. Usandru was my partner in this so he might remember it.

You know, the rest of you can chime in too.

Not sure exactly when I'll get the first IC stuff going. My sore throat gave me an excuse made me decide to not really do all that much today, but I have a couple of things coming up, along with a few other projects. I suppose this means the rest of you have a chance to get stuff done in time for the first round.

And yes, @Spooky, we definitely won't do like was done in that game. It was interesting, but it was also, IMO, pretty flawed. This isn't a true PvP game, even if you might well end up fighting each other.

Besides, I'm too lazy to run more than a public storyline. Private stuff is way too much effort outside specific circumstances.

Hah... Well, secrets are fun, but I'm not sure how I'll keep 'em for my guy if he's going right into the deep end.

Ah well. I can still at least let people feel clever by figuring 'em out instead of me just stating outright.

It begins at last.

Welcome to the Crimson Festival.

@Kensai @MightyDwarf @Rivenscryr @Spooky @shaderic
You all have IC material up. Feel free to start responding, take actions, ask clarifying questions or whatever. It's the intro section, so there's a lot of "figuring out how things will work" right now.

@Magnificate
As you know, I will post your IC material in a PM shortly, since you would prefer to avoid the clutter. We'll add it to the main thread once there's a coherent section.

@Alectai
I'll deal with your bit soonish. I need to figure out some catalyst stuff before I can get to writing. If you have free time and can be bothered to do it yourself that would be awesome though.

@MightyDwarf
You're likely looking at some combat. You also have a very broad set of tools which is still fairly undefined. I've given you some expendable suicide puppets as a freebie. For the rest, make up an idea and ask me about it, then I'll determine how much of your current stock of equipment that'll be worth.

And so, exciting times are ahead! Assuming you can handle this kind of GM, with this kind of delay anyway!

I am vaguely optimistic that my postrate here will increase now. IC posts are broadly easier than prep. I think. I hope.

Look, if nothing else, my virtue is persistence, okay? xV

*Looks at all the Fate RPs that sprung up while you were preparing*
Heh.

Wish I was here for the application period, though. Oh well.
Hope you have a good game! :D

Well, all else being equal this is a very different style of game, built on years of experience of Fate RPs that ended in various forms of miserable failure. :p

Speed aside, I've gained a lot of confidence in my writing, GMing and game design, so I'm feeling pretty good about this. Speed aside. xV

The most exciting thing for me though, is the opportunity to unveil the really quite marvellous tapestry of history that the players have collaboratively created with almost no input from me. Knowing that each player will be able to chuckle quietly at different bits of setting because they know something about that, since they had a hand in the creation, and yet all the same leaving them to marvel at the unexpected elements complicating it...

I won't lie, I'm still feeling pretty proud of the Truths system! ;)

And thanks for the well-wishes. :)

I'm going to need a few days. I've been pretty sick and I'm still not totally lucid.

I'm the last person here to complain about delays. :p

I'm expecting to update in batches. Usually I'll start once there are three people who need something. This can get a teensy bit confusing since you guys can't see Magnificate's stuff immediately, but I've got from him, Riven and I figured out what to do for Alectai, so I'm going to get started now, more or less.

But if things start getting unequal, I'll focus specifically on anyone who's behind, so as long as they can post reasonably rapidly I think we can keep it more or less on-track.

Typing on my phone from McCord.

Why did you have to start this right before I had to get on the plane? Anyway, since I managed to get some sleep over the Atlantic, I'll try and get a response done at Seattle.
