[x] Plan NMS & Stuff

Geez, Kirika has no respect for gun safety at all. To be fair though, she is (checks wiki)... 15?! OK, maybe I can expect her to not literally use a gun (albeit a broken one) as a toy.

I like how you're expecting maturity from a girl who's decided to let her girlfriend be mature enough for both of them; or expecting her to know anything about gun safety when she lives in a country as restrictive about them as Japan. She saw Homura unload it in front of her, so as far as she's concerned that baby's free real estate for her to play with.
-[X] (Archer) Before you head off to teach Homura's friends some of the fundamentals of Formalcraft and Mystic Code crafting, prevent Assassin from taking anything from the cookie jar; who know how long it has been since its contents were replaced
But we do know. Considering that one of the first things Archer did was clean out the stale food and go shopping for fresh stuff, at the oldest any cookies in the Akemi apartment are only as old as March 16th.

Day 34 Chapter 18
[X] Plan NMS

It's to be expected that your progress with the Inguz rune would be, paradoxically, both massive and yet no more than baby steps, and both at the same time. While you feel that the progress you have made is a monumental step forward compared to when you last practiced on Saturday, you are also able to recognize that it only feels like such a massive leap forward on account of how little your mastery of the rune really is.

Still, you would be lying if you said that tonight's efforts were wasted; on the contrary, tonight has been a good night for practice; though as you look around the room and see your allies, immersed in their own practice, you see that some have made greater progress than others.

"Why can't I figure this out?" Kure Kirika asks, chewing on her tongue as she frantically switches between her cluttered and erratic notes for Fehu and Gebo, and the blade upon which she is attempting to engrave the results of tonight's practice, to little success. She throws her head back, staring at the ceiling as she moans "Why was this so much to do easier when I didn't lave legs?"

"What's the matter, dearest?" asks Mikuni Oriko, as she leans over from her own practice of Uruz to take a look at her lover's progress. "Where do you need help?"

"Here, here, and especially here," Kure Kirika responds, stabbing her practice sheet with her finger as she points out the trouble spots for her lover. "Right up until tonight, I've been able to keep making steady progress merging these two together, like this-" Gently this time, Kure Kirika traces the course of her progress for Mikuni Oriko's observation. "-and I've gotten it to a point where, at least in theory, 'cause I haven't really had the chance to test it out for real, I should be able to use these together to siphon back about fifty per cent of whatever magical energy I drain from the enemy. Problem is, no matter how hard I've tried, I just can't push it past that fifty per cent mark."

"And trying to break that fifty per cent barrier is what's causing you stress?"

Kure Kirika nods, but Mikuni Oriko offers up an alternative for her lover. "Perhaps you've simply reached the limit of what you can do with those runes, in that case. I hit a similar wall in trying to push Othala past a seven-point barrier; I just couldn't make an eight-point barrier, no matter what I tried. Instead of getting frustrated, I took that as a sign that it was time for me to study another rune." Mikuni Oriko turns to you and asks "Did you hit a similar wall when you were studying Isa?"

You shake your head, responding with "I don't think so. Instead, I stopped when I discovered an attack that could kill me without the proper Grief dampening in place."

"Finitora Freccia, you mean?"

You nod. "I'm glad I was able to make it that far; minus our servants, we're incredibly lacking in hard-hitting offensive finishers; but after Finitora Freccia I don't think there's much more I could do with Isa even without having hit the 'wall' you're talking about." That Kure Kirika's progress with Fehu and Gebo is lacking doesn't surprise you; not only is she working with two runes at once compared to your Inguz, Tomoe-san's Berkano, and Mikuni Oriko's Uruz, but she was also farther along with those two runes than any of you are. It's entirely possible, you think, that she's simply reached the limit of what she can do, just as you've done with Isa and Mikuni Oriko has done with Othala.

"And what about your own progress with Uruz?" you ask Mikuni Oriko. "How are you doing there?"

"In theory? Quite well," Mikuni Oriko responds. "If I'm correct, I should be at the point where I can stitch together severed limbs... Not that I'd ever wish for the opportunity to test that on anyone." It's not the wholesale regeneration of limbs which you recall Sayaka was capable of, but stitching severed limbs is still a decent skill for your team's healer apparent to possess. But then reality sets in... "In practice, however, I haven't had the chance to test my progress on anything more than small cuts, so my best guesses are just that; guesses." Mikuni Oriko turns to Tomoe-san, who has been quietly working her magic while the rest of you have been chatting, and she asks "And what about you, Tomoe-san? How are you coming along?"

"Similar to you, I'm only working off of theory at the moment," Tomoe-san responds, looking up from her practice sheet. "However, similar to Kure-san, I think I've hit a wall of my own, in that I can't seem to get my Grief dampening to go above fifty per cent. So instead, I'm trying to increase the strength of Berkano's sealing ability. At least from what I've seen, I think that will be more useful to us than its tracking ability, now that we no longer have to go searching for the previous Assassin."

"And how far along are you in that?" you ask.

"I don't know, Akemi-san. I suppose the only way to know for sure would be to test it, as well as to test it against the strength of Lancer's own Berkano to see how much stronger mine could be."

You nod, lips pursed as you lose yourself in thought. Tonight has been good practice all around, but you'll need to give it some thought as to how best everyone can use their abilities in combination with everyone else.
[ ] What are your thoughts? (write-in)
However, this isn't the only practice you'd like to get in tonight. After all, there's a stack of books sitting back at your apartment courtesy of Archer's former master; and you've got some friends who could take advantage of their presence.

Unfortunately, upon giving the matter further consideration, you realize that perhaps tonight isn't the best night to try organising a practice session with your non-magical friends. Sayaka is probably still enjoying her date; Kyouko hasn't returned yet, so you're assuming that the pair are still out and enjoying themselves, and haven't parted ways in their usual hissy fit-throwing manner. You recall Madoka saying she had things to take care of with her family after her club got out, but that she would call you if she had the time to spare. A quick check of your phone reveals that you have no new messages from her, neither a text nor voicemail, so you're assuming that she isn't yet free tonight.

That just leaves Hitomi. Fortunately, Hitomi is the one most eager to learn, and most likely to benefit from a shared study session. "Excuse me for a moment," you say, heading into the kitchen; and you dial Hitomi's number, waiting for a response from the other end of the line.

*Ring*
*Ring*
*Ring*
"Moshi moshi, Shizuki Hitomi speaking."

So far, so good; she's picked up. Perhaps this means you'll be able to get something together after this, after all. "Good evening, Hitomi; it's Homura."

"Ah, Akemi-san, good evening! How are you?"

"I'm fine; yourself?"

"Fine as well; having the weekend off has really done wonders for my nerves. Now, was there something you needed from me?"

"Well, there's a stack of books sitting in my apartment, if you wanted to get together and have a joint study session tonight."

There's a pause on the other end of the line, before Hitomi says "Oh, I'm terribly sorry; I'd love to join you, but... Well, you actually caught me in the middle of spending time with Kamijou-kun." There's another pause on Hitomi's end of the line; and you hear her voice whispering something, likely to Kamijou Kyousuke, before she returns. "So I'm afraid I'll have to refuse your offer tonight, much as I would love to join you. Perhaps tomorrow night will be better, if you're free after your club gets out."

"Right, tomorrow it will have to be." Madoka; Sayaka; and Hitomi makes strike three. You're out. "I hope you and Kamijou Kyousuke enjoy yourselves; I'll see you tomorrow, then."

"I'll see you tomorrow. Good night, Akemi-san."

You place your phone back in your pocket, and return to the living room where your allies wait for you, still practicing their runes. You've gotten so used to having people listening to you for a change, that perhaps it's gone to your head; in that case, the reminder that your friends have lives outside of you will serve as a good lesson to carry with you in the future.

I'm entirely unsatisfied with this one, but I had no idea where to take it considering we were out two of our three muggle friends, and were trying to get a second practice session in after I already said we're only allowed one a day. I'll add more onto this one whenever we get the votes, and hopefully it'll actually be something meaty and enjoyable after that.

No we weren't? Unless you count the Holy Quintet studying Runes while Homura's muggle friends study Magecraft in the same room (assuming an alternate universe they didn't have prior obligations). It's not like Homura can supervise a Magecraft training session anyways, it'd be Archer who would do such a thing. Anyways...

[X] Plan NMS Cont.
-[X] Well this has been a reminder that your friends have lives outside of you
-[X] Talk to
--[X] everyone
---[X] asking for updates on their Runic capabilities and try to figure out possible combination moves that could be possible using the Holy Quintet's current capabilities
-[X] Switch perspectives to Archer
--[X] Get into contact with Rin and ask her for her help in setting up a bank account to deposit your haul of stolen Yakuza money (both Yen and Dollars) in a way that won't draw their attention to you
---[X] Whenever it is that you manage this, get the proper information and documentation necessary ready in order to transfer funds to Minako's account

EDIT: Added in the first part of NMS' vote, cause it makes sense. Not the second part since Homura has her dear, dear friends at the Archery club to keep her company! :V
EDIT2: Archer is now taking steps towards getting proper access to the Yakuza money he stole in order to get it to Minako.

This is why I questioned you last time about it because while I did know Archer could teach magecraft, we were still in Homura's perspective and you gave no indication that Archer would be the one teaching.

EDIT: Ok.

Fair I suppose, though at the time I was awkwardly voting on my phone away from my main cpu. I suck at texting, so I kept things to a minimum at the time. Prob also why I didn't bloat the vote as I usually do.

For those of you who are expecting an update from me, don't. It's not that I don't have the time, as is normally the case; I do have the time, but I have neither the words nor the wherewithal to work on the post that's already there, and with how little I've been given from you guys it'll take a damn miracle to turn what I've already written into something I don't hate. Expect, say, Saturday, for the most recent post to be un-fuck-i-fied into a decent, God-fearing post.

If you don't want to wait until Saturday for new content and can look past the fact that we'll be shooting blanks in the dark in the absence of a coherent most recent post, you can throw me either a vote or ideas for what you'd like to see happening tomorrow morning, and I can go from there.

Hm, the problem is the content for tomorrow morning, then? Well, Assassin can ask Homura to do something as per what they discussed earlier. It would also be good for Homura to check in on Miyuki sometime tonight/in the morning, if only through text, if only to warn her that if she doesn't take steps towards sobriety that she'll Witch out as per the precog's visions. Also...

O_O totally forgot to get Archer to contact Rin to get some help in setting up a bank account in his name to deposit his haul without drawing the attention of the Yakuza. Gonna edit my vote real quick since Archer won't be teaching Sayaka/Hitomi today.

[X] Plan Item Construction For Beginners
-[X] What are your thoughts?
--[X] Perhaps they should try and focus on making Mystic Codes by using their Runes and engraving them on objects instead? First telepathically ask Archer for clarification on the basics of how Mystic Codes operate; do you have to fuel it with your own magical energy or can you collect ambient magical energy and use it to self-sustain them? (OOC: You can do both, though Magi use the second method most of the time by fueling their creations with ambient Mana, usually with a big metaphorical battery to collect ambient Mana and sustain the Mystic Codes in question for long durations in active use) Also ask Oriko if she could recall Lancer to tell them the basics on how they could go about properly making said Mystic Codes using their Runic knowledge without making any obvious mistakes; even if her knowledge is limited you still have the material Archer got from his former Master to reference.
---[X] Mami should definitely create some sort of ring or accessory that can be activated to dampen one's Grief expenditure when worn for everyone at some point
---[X] Oriko could focus on making some kind of wearable tricket that when activated could manifest a small barrier covering one's Soul Gem
---[X] You could create one-off Isa bombs that your teammates could chuck, or when you get far enough into Inguz you could create a trinket that when activated very slowly and carefully siphons off Grief from one's Soul Gem into some kind of container (which could be of low-quality due to the slow speed at which the Grief is being siphoned off at, though said container would have to regularly be replaced)
---[X] You and Kirika could try and create some kind of magical battery Mystic Code that could take in and store magical energy from them and then be used later to bolster one's reserves if they're in a pinch and/or used in lieu of one's own reserves
---[X] Kyoko (when she's informed about this) could make a bunch of magical firebombs using Sowilo; more firepower is always welcome
---[X] For a larger project, you, Kirika, and Oriko could attempt to create a self-sustaining barrier Mystic Code, which could act as a smaller Bounded Field, except it's a solid barrier when activated; a battery created by you and Kirika would be very helpful in such an endeavour, whether it's to protect a building or to act as a personal shield of some kind
---[X] For your own personal use, perhaps you could actually make your mundane armaments viable again by engraving the barrels/bullets of your weapons, or your explosives, with Isa/Sowilo Runes
-[X] Go home and do whatever homework you need to do
--[X] Chat with Assassin for a bit and ask her if there's anything she's hoping to accomplish while manifested with no Grail on the line
--[X] Before or after dinner, a sufficient amount of time later, text Sayaka to see how her date went; gossip like you've (literally) never gossiped before
--[X] Be sure not to forget to feed Amy and go to sleep, presumably after you've had dinner
---[X] While you prepare to go to sleep, ask Archer to go and check on Miyuki to make sure she hasn't gone into a Grief spiral from the inevitable confrontation with her parents, and give him an empty Grief Seed just in case; while you're sure Oriko hadn't overlooked Miyuki's immediate future, it's better safe than sorry
--[X] When you've done what you could in regards to the money you "liberated" today, return home and cook dinner for everyone; insist that Assassin eat at the table
---[X] Go check up on Miyuki in Astral Form after Homura heads on into bed and take appropriate actions depending on what you find

You can make some top-notch stuff out of regular Runes (as shown by Bazett who can make Mystic Codes like her uniform and easily create self-sustained Bounded Fields and alarm systems using her limited Runic knowledge), I shudder to think what they could do with Primeval ones.

To clarify, I'm not expecting this to count for a practice session of any sort, just the prerequisite knowledge on how to even access such a field of study, really. Also sorry for the extensive vote, just had a lot of ideas on how to capitalize on Mystic Codes using their currently known Runes and I'm sure there are plenty of other possibilities available to them aside from what I put down as well.

EDIT: Added more stuff.
EDIT2: Added anti-Grief Miyuki measures

While all of this is useful, don't expect it to be brought up tonight. Maybe tomorrow when we have Kyouko, with us and might be able to get some brainstorming done, but not tonight.

This is not quite as useful, and I'm doubtful that I'll be able to make much out of it with just the two sentences you've given me.
