Sure. It would be a nice sisterly bonding activity between two former enemies whose guardians totally aren't going to make them stepsisters any time soon, no sir.
I find it amusing that Homura's already thinking of Archer as her actual, legit legal guardian; she wouldn't contemplate a future where her and Kirika are step-sisters otherwise.

Yeah, but you know what'd be even stranger than Homura and Kirika being step-sisters? Madoka and Oriko being sisters-in-law once the respective couples can finally get Japanese gay married.

Speaking of, couldn't both couples just get married overseas at some point, assuming Homura doesn't fail and move on to another timeline?

In real life, the first same-sex marriage in Japan was conducted in 2013, though Japan only officially recognized same-sex marriages in 2015. Assuming that Homura manages to find a timeline and make it stick, she and Madoka wouldn't be old enough to get married until 2015 anyway, and Oriko and Kirika would need to wait less than a year before they could get married. Going to another country would be a pretty big investment of time and money for someone who knows for sure that waiting just a little while longer will factually be worth it.

Day 32 Chapter 15.1
[X] Plan Don't Let Your Girlfriend Drown

The witch halts its approach, staring down on you and your allies from the thin orange slit that you assume must be its 'eye'. "You just had to jinx it, didn't you?" Kure Kirika says to Kyouko, in response to her question as to the witch's location, as the witch's 'eye' flashes. Instantly, you freeze time before the witch is able to launch whatever attack it is planning. "Okay, what's the plan?" Kure Kirika asks, as you and she are the only ones left to move in the grey world of frozen time. "You're..." You can tell it pains her to say this, but she manages to spit out "... About as smart as Oriko; you've gotta have something in that noggin of yours that'll beat this witch."

Quickly, you trace your rune of ice into the air. "First thing's first, I need to shore up the cabin's defenses so that no more water is able to leak in," you say as you form a defensive array of frozen barriers around the cabin; dikes and levies ring the outer boundaries of the property, while the doors and windows you've flash-frozen shut to prevent any more water from leaking in. If Madoka were to drown because of this witch...

"Okay, and then what?"

You allow time to resume without answering Kure Kirika's question, just in time for MIkuni Oriko to bring up a triple-layered barrier against the witch's attack, a pounding column of water that crashes and breaks against her golden barriers. The surge intensifies, and Mikuni Oriko is forced to throw up an additional two layers of a brrier when the witch's attack breaks through.

"We need to disable the witch's ability to stand and fight," you say, surveying the battlefield and taking stock of the frozen pads of water on which the witch's six long legs perch. "It doesn't appear that it can walk over the water without freezing it first, so if we break the ice and sent it plummeting into the water, it shouldn't be able to counter-attack us." You look to Kyouko and to Mikuni Oriko, and add "We need fire. Hot enough to melt the ice it walks on and turn the water underneath into steam."

"Lancer! Come to my side!" Mikuni Oriko yells, as you feel the surge of power radiating from one of her spent Command Seals. In an instant where the very space around her is warped, her servant Lancer appears at her side, already geared for battle. "Lancer, we need fire!" With a glance to Kyouko, Mikuni Oriko adds "Sakura-san, we'll need your help as well!"

"You got it!"

Watching Kyouko and Lancer each draw their own Sowilo runes in the air before them, you find yourself wondering, what makes Lancer's fire burn blue, while Kyouko's fire burns red? You doubt it's a matter of how hot their fires burn; or else Lancer wouldn't be able to melt steel and concrete with her flame; but you also doubt that it has to do with their own innate mana, or else your own Isa should freeze in violet; right?

Whatever the reason, azure and scarlet flames turn the water underneath into hot steam as they slam against the witch's stable footing. While it is enough to divert the witch's attention from its onslaught, forcing it to redirect the column of water away from Mikuni Oriko and towards the screaming heat of Kyouko and Lancer's dual attacks; it is not enough to destroy the stable ground on which the witch stands, as the water column slams into the twin columns of fire, dousing them before they have the chance to burn away at the witch's icy footholds.

Kure Kirika snipes at you with a disapproving glare and the question "Got any more bright ideas?"

"Yes." If you can't force the witch to go under, then... "I'll freeze a path to the witch, while the rest of you hit ti with everything you've got. If we can't stop its advance, then we'll get so close to it that it won't be able to safely attack us."

"You really sure this one'll work?"

"No," you have to reply to Kure Kirika's question honestly; you don't know if your plan will work. "But I don't hear you coming up with anything better." Still, because the risk is there that you don't know how well your plan will work, you have to ask of Mikuni Oriko "Do you see any problems with the plan I've proposed?"

Solemnly, Mikuni Oriko nods her head, throwing up another defensive barrier as the witch resumes its attack. The time you've spent discussing strategy has given the witch the key seconds it needed to get back on the offensive. "I'm afraid I can see the witch able to attack us no matter how close we get to it," she says, throwing both hands forward to strengthen her barrier, as the witch forces a second column of water towards her. "However, given the witch's defensive options, we still stand the best chance of actually hitting it if we're up close."

"Right." You nod in affirmation, motioning with your head to Lancer as you ask her "Care to join me?"

"With pleasure, master of Archer."

With two Isa runes drawn in the air, you and Lancer unleash a blizzard against the witch. The patio is ringed with ice, and that ice quickly spreads to encompass a thick stretch of ice, creating a frozen bridge between you, your allies, and the witch. "Alright!" you call out, once your work is done, "Let's hit this witch with everything we've got!"

[x] Send on the attack
-[x] Tomoe-san
-[x] Kyouko
-[x] Mikuni Oriko
-[x] Kure Kirika

[x] Hold to the defense
-[x] Yourself
-[x] Lancer

[x] the attacking force's plan of attack? (write-in)

-[x] Make judicious of timestop and Runes to project the cabin.

[X] Plan You Aren't Getting Paid Enough To Deal With This
-[X] Send on the attack
--[X] Everyone; have Mami connect everyone with her ribbons and time-stop
-[X] the attacking force's plan of attack?
--[X] Have your melee fighters - namely Kirika, Kyoko, and Lancer - shred the Witch to pieces to save on everyone's magical energy reserves
-[X] if the Witch dies from this plan
--[X] suggest that the Grief Seed goes to whoever has the lowest amount
---[X] and on the topic of Grief Seeds, ask Lancer if it would be possible for her to purify some Grief Seeds with Inguz while they're all sleeping; you happen to have a number - read, far too many - of filled Grief Seeds in stasis within your shield that could be cleansed
----[X] If Lancer agrees, ask Oriko how many she thinks Lancer could handle at a time without the risk of one of them hatching while she's cleansing them overnight, unless Lancer could just put them into stasis until she needs them
--[X] ask Mami if she could telepathically ask Caster real quick about how long the Shirome girls have until something bad happens to them, and whether or not you'll have to send somebody to do something to prevent such bad things from occurring; if Caster is no help then ask Oriko instead

Sometimes you gotta go back to the classics; I'd say this would make for a good training session for everyone, but with Madoka and Homura's other friends within potential firing range it'd be best to dispatch this Witch as soon as possible.

EDIT: Added in asking about the Shirome girls just in case, assuming they manage to defeat the Witch using this plan.

I thought of some other things we can do tomorrow; or rather, things Archer can do tomorrow.
-Stop dodging the question and tell Minako which swimsuit she looks best in.
-Help her come up with a life-improvement plan; when their schedules match up so Archer can help her study/learn to make more thna just microwave dinners to eat, maybe give her some financial advice, pressure her to drop one of her three shifts and ask Oriko for some financial help so she'll actually have time to study/eat/sleep for herself.
-Figure out how to be her friend without letting her think her hitting on you is working.
-Make plans with the girls about what to make for lunch and dinner.

Yes, yes, this'll do just fine. >:D

On a side note I'm still pretty disappointed that people in this thread don't really like sliced bread. /s

Homura would need to be paid at least a couple Grief Seeds and a few dozen Madokahugs a week, along with free healthcare and dental. /s
I hope that covers family members as well, because given the amount of sugar her totally not step-sister consumes, I think she'll need dental work long before Homura does.

[X] Plan You Aren't Getting Paid Enough To Deal With This

"Given the witch's defensive options," Mikuni Oriko says, "we still stand the best chance of actually hitting it if we're up close."

"Alright!" you call out, once your work is done, "Let's hit this witch with everything we've got! Tomoe-san!" You call out to your partner; but you scarcely need to finish what you're thinking before your blonde senior sends forth her ribbons.

"Already on it, Akemi-san!"

With the party all tied together by Tomoe-san's ribbons, you turn your shield, freezing time and the witch in place. You find yourself reminded, as you gaze out at the frozen torrent of water commanded by the witch, of a moment from one timeline in particular. By the fountain in the park, the Incubator was attempting to coax Madoka into making a contract, using Sayaka's life as a bargaining chip. When you stopped time to shoot the Incubator, the water in the fountain was frozen in place, and you could see individual droplets of water hanging frozen in mid-air. You see those same frozen droplets of water splashing off of Mikuni Oriko's barriers.

You shake those thoughts from your head; you'll have time to reminisce later, once the witch has been defeated. "We'll all move in and get close to the witch," you say, forming your bow and a number of arrows in your hand. "Kyouko, Lancer, and Kure Kirika will be on the front lines." To each of your front-line attackers you turn as you speak their name, saying as well "The three of you have the best close-range weapons, so you'll have to be the ones right beneath the witch shredding it to pieces. The rest of us-" your gaze turns to Tomoe-san, Mikuni Oriko; and you would turn it towards yourself if you thought you could "-will come in close to support you."

Your eyes travel across each of your allies one more time; Tomoe-san, Kyouko, Mikuni Oriko, Lancer, and Kure Kirika, all nod their heads in agreement with your plan. "Alright, then let's make quick work of this witch so we can all go back to sleep."

The front-line trio bound forward on the bridge of ice you've created between the cabin and the witch. Kyouko and Lancer take their respective whacks at it with their spears; strong, sturdy blows that, were they not immediately bounding off of the witch's legs with each strike, would surely have felled the witch just as easily as felling a tree. Kure Kirika faces a similar problem, and no matter the force she puts behind her blows, carving at the witch's legs with her claws, nor stringing the witch up with her saw-like toothed claw-chain, they too rebound without ever making so much as a scratch on the witch.

You had hoped, then, if the close-range combatants were failing to harm the witch, that at least you, Tomoe-san, or Mikuni Oriko would have managed to deal a blow to the witch. Unfortunately, your arrows and Tomoe-san's musket balls each bounce off the witch's body just the same as spears and claws. Only the bolts of energy from Mikuni Oriko's drones seem to leave a mark on the witch's hide; and though your arrows themselves bounce off the witch, the ice imbued in their tips stays behind.

But this isn't enough; you had hoped to save on the use of your magical energy on this trip, but this witch just had to get in the way of your plans; and now the six of you are burning energy for what doesn't even appear to be any noticeable advantage against the witch. You need to rethink your strategy; but how?

[ ] Wat do?

Yeah, I want to be involved, but seeing "[ ] Wat do?" just leaves me stumped and paralyzed. I'm fine voting on choices or offering some opinions, but coming up with entire plans is a bit more than I can do.
I didn't used to do it as often as I do now, but the problem is there are usually so many options I want to make available for consideration, plus the knowledge that someone is probably going to whip out something I didn't even think of, just leaves me leaving [ ] Wat do? more often than not, especially during combat. Combat is the worst to try and give options for.
Even so, I do like seeing when people have things to say, comments, feedback, or just general engagement with what's going on, even if it's not strictly voting.
So, either there's a gimmick, or we have a serious problem on our hands.
See Twix's comment for why giving concrete options in combat is difficult for me. If I give the "right" option, I run the risk of spoiling what the witch is about or can do and make beating it too easy; but if I give the "wrong" answer, I run the risk of players either not getting it, or somebody winding up dead when the flow of battle gets seriously misread and we either run into a serious problem or vote for something we shouldn't have.

The thing is that if you don't present us any choices then we don't know what options we have. I agree that the write-ins are generally pretty great, but you can still encourage write-ins while offering some concrete choices. For combat you can keep the choices broad with the option to add more details. For example make the options Blitz, Turtle, and Distraction for how to engage the witch and somebody might write-in for the turtle option and make it about giving Oriko enough time to use her precog to determine the witch's weakness.
On a more general note I'm surprised that we haven't smeared this witch yet when we have the entire team dogpiling it. Maybe make some mention about everybody holding back since they're so close to the house with all the noncombatants in it?

I think we already know the gimmick. The witch cannot swim; her familiars keep her afloat. Kill them and the witch sinks.
