Confringentur 2; a Madoka Magica / Fate/Stay Night sequel

--[X] to Madoka
---[X] You should at least tell her a little about your situation, maybe lowplaying some aspects for her peace of mind...
--[X] to Sayaka
---[X] The same as Madoka, but sightly less bright and happy.
This isn't just a question for you; anyone in the gallery can feel free to chime in with their ideas, but what information are you proposing we expunge or reduce in severity for Madoka, that we aren't doing for Sayaka? Additionally, when are we going to be in a position to talk to Sayaka but not Madoka? Are we going to slip into the bathroom to talk to her, give her an aside that things are worse than we've let on inside her head? Why are we not being as censorious with what we say to Sayaka, and what's stopping Sayaka from telling Madoka what we've told her but haven't told Madoka? This part seems a little convoluted.

Also,
--[X] to Madoka
---[X] Ask her about her day yesterday, and be happy around her in general.
We were with Madoka for most of the day yesterday, either walking to/from school, during the school day, or when we went out on our date with her to the vet and the mall- She talked us into a buying a suit yesterday, remember? So, what's the point of asking about her day? Wouldn't asking her whether she enjoyed her day be a better way to approach this?

*Shrugs*
I think that I forgot about that last one, and about lowplaying I see it less as an 'not telling things' and more as 'making them sound less bad'... though I will admit that my understanding of how things went may be clouded by OOC knowledge, so if there isn't anything where we are particulry screwed during our skirmish yesterday, I'll say it would be mostly fine.

I would accept ideas for the small talk with Madoka... Anyways, it's 01 AM here and I need muh beauty sleep; somebody please give at least one idea for that for later.

My insomnia only goes so far.

"Weak," spouts PlaguePaladin, fully intending to stay up until 2 AM, as he has done many times before. Not by choice, mind you.

I would accept ideas for the small talk with Madoka...
- "Any new shows/books/anime/whatever you've seen recently that you liked?"
- "Have you started watching Symphogear yet? Have you enjoyed it?"
- "Pick up any new hobbies recently?"

This should make it obvious that I am horrible at small-talk.

This isn't really answering my question, because I don't really see how we can make what happened last night sound less bad. I mean, I know what we saw wasn't too bad, but Kyouko got a sword through her chest. On top of us knowing what happened to everyone else because that's the point of an after-mission debriefing, do you really think Kyouko will keep quiet about that?

I'm at a loss for how we make what happened last night sound less bad.

[x] UNKNOWN01

I like the plan for the most part, I just want to discuss some details:
- To Minako: Maybe talk to her about our school work as well? She is one of the more, say, long-term oriented persons in that case, and telling her that we're still going good, if not phenomenal, at school could calm her a bit.
- With Sayaka, we'll have to strike a fine balance - we don't want her to run off and play hero

Those are the only things I consider worth discussing. It's an absolutely solid and good plan.

Regarding new short-term goals, I'd like to suggest for Homura:
* Eliminate Archer or Assassin of Blue
* Learn more about the enemy goals and intentions.

I'm at a loss for how we make what happened last night sound less bad.
Perhaps explain what steps we're going to take to make sure it doesn't get that bad again? Defensive measures around the city, having Lancer teach us some more Rune Magic, research on who are enemy is, stuff like that.

...So I changed a few things about my plan, I was kinda iffy about doing so after all the time that has passed and that it may be kinda annoying for QM-sama to have to change things, but still...

Anyways, thanks to our lord and savior Plague and to Swedish for the ideas!

Day 3 Chapter 2
[X] Plan: Let's talk a little!

"I know I asked on Wednesday, but how's work?" you ask Minako. "I remember you were complaining about one of your co-workers, did you get that taken care of?"

"Well, I haven't had the chance to talk to her yet," Minako replies. Finally finished with whatever she was working on at the start of breakfast, Minako closes her laptop, devoting her remaining attention to you, Archer, and to breakfast. "But I have been thinking about what Archer said then. I'd like to believe it's just a misunderstanding between her and the rest of the office, because she's actually really nice otherwise." Minako smiles, pointing her chopsticks at Archer as she asks "And what about you? You ever going to get a real job? I mean, I don't mind if you want to be a house-husband and take care of things, but if you wanted to bring in some extra income I'd support you however you needed me to."

"Maybe once spring rolls around I'll take up Tomohisa's offer and put in some hours at the produce store he and his buddies own," Archer replies. "Or maybe I'll start an online cooking channel, and use that to launch a line of cookware; I've always wanted to do that, believe it or not." Huh, you learned something new about your father.; and here you were thinking he'd finally run out of ways to surprise you. "Have to pick my battles carefully, though. Not like there's many options for a guy who only exists on some forged documents. Definitely won't be working in an office any time soon. I'll leave raking in the big bucks to you" Archer shrugs, before surprising Minako with a kiss. "I'm amazed at how far you've come from when we first met. I'm so proud of you."

Minako sputters out a "Stop that, you," in-between her laughter. "You sound like my father when you say stuff like that."

"I'll take that as a compliment, then," Archer says, going in for another kiss. "Your father raised an incredible woman. I'm glad you hold me in the same esteem."

Well, sharing affection seems to be the name of the game at the breakfast table today, so when Amy wanders over to you as she finishes breakfast, you lean over and pick her up. "You're such a good kitty," you say to Amy, nuzzling her as she lets out an approving "Mew." "Why are you such a good kitty?" You set Amy back down on the kitchen floor, running your hand through her fur a few times before letting her scamper off to your room.

Minako leaves shortly after breakfast winds down, and for the few minutes before you have to leave for school, when it's just you and Archer, you ask him "I know you're trying to sell the situation to Minako as being better than it is, so be honest with me- What's your honest estimation of the situation?"

"It's bad," Archer replies. "Atalanta as the enemy Archer is manageable; she's fast, but we know her weaknesses and we can hit her harder than she can hit us. It's everyone else that has me worried. Sigurd and Ramesses are..." Archer shakes his head, saying "Bad news, as far as things are concerned. Frankly, there are few servants the enemy could have drawn for those classes that would be stronger than those two. Lancer might be able to help us out with Sigurd, but unless she's got some secret up her sleeve for how to defeat Ramesses we're probably going to have no choice but to hammer him with everything we've got. Then there's the enemy's other servants, the ones we haven't met yet. Their Assassin is going to be a problem, especially because of her healing abilities."

"That's not even mentioning how powerful the Saints themselves are," you add; "And we haven't even met the enemy's full strength yet."

Archer pats you on the shoulder, saying "I know it's bad right now, but we'll get through this. We've gotten through worse, haven't we?"

"Yeah," you say. "We have." But just like last time, what will that victory cost you?

You head out, and it isn't long before Madoka joins you. "Good morning, Homura-chan!" she calls out. You hurry to greet her, wrapping her in your arms and giving her a kiss. "Um... How did everything go last night?" Madoka breaks your kiss to ask, her voice thick with concern. "Everything's okay, right?"

"I wouldn't go so far as to say everything is okay, but everyone is safe," you say, correcting Madoka's choice of words. "Frankly, the fact that we're all safe is a small miracle, because these other girls are tough." You'll spare Madoka some of the gorier details which came to light during last night's debriefing, such as the sword through Kyouko's chest, or the shrapnel which temporarily cost Tomoe-san one of her eyes. At times like these, you cannot be glad enough that Oriko is as skilled a user of healing runes as she is. "I think in the future, setting up some sort of defensive measures might go a long way in making things better for our side. They caught us off-guard last night, so maybe an early-warning system would be a good idea..." No need to bog Madoka down with all the technical discussion; a simple "Hopefully, things will start going our way soon, once we've gotten a better handle on things."

Unfortunately, for all your efforts to keep Madoka from worrying about you more than necessary, in comes Sayaka to ruin everything. "So like, what the hell's going on, Homura?" are the first words to leave her mouth as she sees you. "The news said a huge gas explosion wiped out the old church and, like, a couple blocks of downtown Kazamino. What the hell happened last night?"

"I'm sorry, Akemi-san," Hitomi says, bowing as she tries to restrain the Blueberry currently chomping at the bit. "I tried to ease her into the news of what happened last night, but apparently Sakura-san got to her first."

You were afraid of that. "Things got a little... Hectic, last night," is the best choice of words you can think of. "The enemy got the jump on us, and they came on stronger than we had anticipated."

"I'll say! Do you have any idea what Kyouko told me last night?"

"I can think of a few different ways she could have worded last night's events." None of them good. "I really am sorry for what happened," you say to Sayaka. "None of us were expecting last night to happen the way it did. But I'm going to do my best to make sure it doesn't happen like that again."

Sayaka crosses her arms and stares aggressively at you. "You'd better."

You'll do your best to ignore the aggressive stares Sayaka continues to give you, and move over to speak with Hitomi. "Has Saber been giving you any trouble?" you ask her. "I know you aren't able to keep him completely supplied, but are you feeling any negative effects of his mana consumption yet?"

"Well I did have more of an appetite when I woke up this morning," Hitomi replies. "If this becomes a regular occurrence, I'll have to start watching my figure more carefully, I think. I almost ate two servings at breakfast today."

"But aside from that, you're fine?"

"Well, I am still a little shaken by last everything that happened last night. I'll freely admit it, Akemi-san, I'm scared. I haven't felt this scared in a long time."

You smile, placing a friendly hand onto Hitomi's shoulder. "I know you're scared," you say. "But that's fine, because we're all scared, even if we don't say it. Being brave isn't about not being afraid; it's about not letting your fear keep you from moving forward." You hold you hand there for a moment, before pulling Hitomi into a hug. "You're a very brave girl, choosing to help us even though you're afraid."

"Thank you for your kind words, Akemi-san." But bravery won't keep Hitomi safe.

You spot Kyouko skulking by the front gate as she waits for the rest of you to arrive. As your eyes meet hers, for a brief moment you see her in her battle garb, torn and bloodied as it was last night. Her skin is licked by the fiery lashes of her opponent, and from the gaping wound in her chest you can see clear through to what lies behind her. Then your vision clears, and Kyouko is no more than she appears before you, right now. She and Sayaka share a brief kiss, before she says "'Sup, Spooky, Seaweed?" in as dull a voice as she can muster.

"Good morning, Sakura-san," Hitomi says. "I... I'm sorry about what happened last night. Are you feeling any better?"

"About the church or the hole in my chest?" Kyouko asks, before settling on "Ah, it don't matter either way. They're both gone now."

"It doesn't sound like they don't matter."

"Kind of a low blow, ain't it?" Kyouko asks you; you are forced to agree. "I mean, yeah it's still important ta me. Just 'cause of what happened with my dad, it don't mean..." Kyouko sighs, hanging her head as she says "I mean, that used ta be where I lived. It's why I made my wish in the first place. It's where me an' my sister used ta..." Kyouko brushes you all aside, pushing forward towards the school as she says "Never mind. I'll see ya in class."

Couldn't quite fit our Madoka smalltalk topics in without disrupting the overall flow. I'll be tacking them onto whatever our lunch conversation is instead.

--[] And by 'let', you mean' shove the blueberry after her'

I concur with letting Sayaka handle it so we can get an omake later on.

I'm leaning towards Archer scouting (any defences, is there a school they go to, etc.), if only because I can't think of topics to talk about with other people. Talking with Lancer about Sigurd is an option, if maybe not the safest one.

[X] Plan: Let's take care of our friends and new teammates (Alternative title: Oh God, Plague makes this looks so easy but it's hell to make such a large plan!)
-[X] Is Kyouko's emotional state your problem?
--[X] Make sure that Sayaka talks to her; she is her girlfriend, so her support would probaly mean a lot for Kyouko.
--[X] Wait until lunch; talk to Kyouko in private
---[X] Start simple: tell herr that if she needs to say anything, you would be happy to hear her out; if she responds decently well to this, just listen to her worries/emotions/venting and attempt to comfort her the best you can; if she does responds bad to this, just attempt to back down a little and try to calm her down in the most sensible way you can, at least try to make her tell you how she feels.
----[X] "--This is probably a sappy line but... Well, even if you have Sayaka-san, just remember that you can always share how you feel with the rest of us, Sakura-san"

-[X] Do you have anything you need to discuss with her?
--[X] Yes
---[X] Try to talk her about some practice sessions after school, or when she is available anyways, to attempt to increase your combat effectiveness.
---[X] You aren't sure if you should step into this right now, but... Try to at least make sure that she tries to make her relationship with Assassin isn't terrible; you don't like how these two acted around each other during yesterday's skirmish.
--[X] How about with Assassin?
---[X] At least introduce yourself to her; your Name, which Servant are you Master (maybe a little about you and Archer's relationship), and maybe a little about you. You would like to be in good terms with her
---[X] Try to also gain Assassin approval to the training sessions with the others; it would be nice if she were to participate in those by her own will.

-[X] Talk
--[X] to Madoka
---[X] Ask her about her hobbies; has she watched any new anime, like Symohogear you were talking about a while ago? had she got any new hobbie?
---[X] In general, just relax a little around her; try to just enjoy your time together and to not think about the other Magical Girls for now.
--[X] to Sayaka
---[X] Try to not to talk about what happened yesterday unless she wants to, if she doesn't just do like your talk with Madoka: Ask her about her hobbies and if she has gained any new one; If she does wants to, you should try to at least ease her worries a bit; just try to make sure she doesn't get any ideas in her head.
--[X] to Hitomi
---[X] Well, now that you have asked her about her reserves, has she attempted to perform Magecraft after summoning Saber? also, how are her studies, both in Magecraft and mundane ones, doing?
--[X] to Kyouko
---[X] After you talk to her, if she is still in the mood to talk, try to just make the ambient lighter by asking her about any kind of thing she has been doing with Sayaka; it cant make the atmosphere less... uncomfortable than you just did.

-[X] Change perspectives to Archer
--[X] Lancer
---[X] You know that she will fight Saber, you aren't even going to try and stop her, so at least make sure that she knows about that you and Berserker to fight against Saber alongside her and that she knows about your tactics.
---[X] Also, you must at least ask her how she feels about fighting Saber; you would like to know how she feels after yesterday.

-[X] Go scouting in Asunaro
--[X] What are you looking for?
---[X] Search for Saints base of operations if you can; any clue will be useful.

Whaaa! I did it!

I think that we should at least make an effort with Kyouko, she is our friend too, I don't think is good to leave everything just in Sayaka's hands.

[X] Swedish15

This is something I'm not entirely sure about but at least for now I doubt the Saints are going to attack any of our non Magical Girl friends like Madoka and Sayaka.
"All we want are your Soul Gems. Anyone on your side who doesn't have a Soul Gem doesn't matter to us."
Saki said it herself that she doesn't care about the non Magical Girls. This doesn't mean they won't later but we can rest easy for now I think.

What scared me away was the nightmare I had of killing a version of myself because it pissed me off and then realizing that I could be pissing off other people the same way.

Also: Good plan, @UNKNOWN01 , I just added my two cents.

[X] Plan: Let's take care of our friends and new teammates, extended

-[X] Is Kyouko's emotional state your problem?
--[X] Make sure that Sayaka talks to her; she is her girlfriend, so her support would probably mean a lot for Kyouko.
--[X] Wait until lunch; talk to Kyouko in private
---[X] Start simple: Tell her the girls are there for her, but be ready to back down if that's too much
----[X] "--This is probably a sappy line but... Well, even if you have Sayaka-san, just remember that you can always share how you feel with the rest of us, Sakura-san"

-[X] Do you have anything you need to discuss with her?
--[X] Yes
---[X] Try to talk her about some practice sessions after school to attempt to increase your combat effectiveness.
---[X] Try to make sure that she works on her relationship with Assassin; you don't like how they acted yesterday.
---[X] Does the Church have info on the Blue Team? Or does Caren have tradecraft at locating enemy cells?

--[X] How about with Assassin?
---[X] At least introduce yourself to her; your Name, your Servant's class (maybe a little about you and Archer's relationship), and a little bit about you. You would like to be in good terms with her
---[X] Try to persuade her to enter the training sessions by her own will.
---[X] Depending on how the introduction goes - how good is Assassin at scouting?

-[X] Talk
--[X] to Madoka
---[X] Ask her about her hobbies; has she watched any new anime, like Symphogear? Any new hobbies?
---[X] In general, just relax a little around her; try not to think about the other Magical Girls for now.
---[X] Ask her to go with you on a vacation when the current crisis is over

--[X] to Sayaka
---[X] If she doesn't want to talk about yesterday, make small talk about hobbies and stuff. If she does want to talk: You should try to at least ease her worries a bit; just try to make sure she doesn't get any ideas in her head.

--[X] to Hitomi
---[X] Well, now that you have asked her about her reserves, has she attempted to perform Magecraft after summoning Saber? Also, how are her studies, both in Magecraft and mundane ones, doing?
---[X] Hitomi's good at research. Ask her to learn a bit of spycraft.

--[X] to Kyouko
---[X] After you talk to her, if she is still in the mood to talk, try to lighten the mood by talking to her about Sayaka. Can't make it worse, after all.

---[X] Ask her to tell you about Saber; about his personality, his strengths, his weaknesses; is there a way to solve this peacefully? If not, he seems honorable; is this true?

-[X] Go scouting in Asunaro
--[X] What are you looking for?
---[X] Search for Saints base of operations if you can; any clue will be useful.
---[X] If you find any witches, stalk them for now until they become a problem for muggles; maybe the Blue Team attacks them as well?

Eh, it seems that's how we roll, @UNKNOWN01 - someone preps an idea, and we all chip in to make it better.

Quite honestly? I like it. Its less competition between plans, and more of a cooperation.
