Come for the Raifus, Stay for the Plot: Girls' Frontline - Baking Time

There's a fair number of them? Betty is IDW, Lam is LWMMG, Abigail is M500, Centaureissi is G36, Choco is FNC, and others.
I've only gotten part of Centaureissi's character story so far, but what I have unlocked gave me the impression she was a later model from the same series as G36, not literally her.

I checked the wiki and found a in-universe report that is the source for this, which reminded me that I've seen the darn image before and forgot about it. Now I feel silly.

Edit: Goodness I forgot my GFL lore. Somehow I thought the game had been set in 203X, but after a minor wiki walk I found out it was 206X. I thought Neural Cloud was set ~20 years after GFL1, which is why I thought all the returning dolls were later models from the same line as the originals. It must be set shortly after GFL1. Now I'm waiting for some poor SF ringleader to have gotten sucked into this. Ouroboros, maybe?

i wanna see sol being sword buddies with aki ngl
I'm not all that far into the game (just finished ch2 standard yesterday), but so far I've found the character writing for the core cast quite enjoyable. Croque is my favorite so far (I'm an engineer, what do you expect), but Sol, Persicaria, and Antonina (spelling?) have all been solid characters, IMO.

Kuro getting fired from her streaming job kinda raises some questions to me about how Dolls work exactly, since we see with G11's backstory and other GFL events that dolls face a lot of prejudice, often get attacked and sold for parts in some areas and don't appear to have the same rights as humans despite appearing to be sentient like humans. But dealing with the ethical issues of sentient machines made in our image capable of human thought and emotion but still treated like appliances has been a discussion in science fiction for a long time.

Like outside of the whole "Squared, this is a gatcha game about waifu gun girls of course you'd have an option to marry them" there's an interesting thought outside of the obvious relationship dynamic of the Commander dating their subordinate but also the question of how that kind of human/doll relationship would be seen/work in larger society. It probably wouldn't happen but it'd be interesting to see what the relationship between the Commander and an Oathed Groza, WA200, or any of the other returning Griffin dolls ten years on in GFL2.

I don't know if there's an online resource to check quotes from like in GFL, but reading the event I thought Kuro was going to be recycled into a new product before her manager bought her from Cyber Media and quit to work independently. I'm under the general impression that Dolls are legally objects, though at the same time we have seen them be treated as people as well so I'm curious where that dichotomy comes into play.

Legal treatment of Dolls seem to mostly define them as objects, but policies operated by various groups in each society can differ. In the Neo-Soviet Union where G&K operates we see that Dolls can recieve gainful employment as their own persons (if you recycle a Doll in G&K, in-universe its treated as the mere removal of her Fire Control Core and Imprinting, and said Doll is asked to prepare their resume for future reference). In Belgrade, fear of Dolls gets them attacked on sight, while other places treat them almost as humans. On another hand, Doll and Doll-parts traffickers are very much a rampant thing, with Squad 404 having to deal with those right before their formation (HK416's MOD3 story)

(Anyways, I've started playing GFL itself again after reading the story on Amaylteris, oh god)

(seriously fuck morridow and lady gray, mirror stage's ending fucking broke me

also can carter just roll over and die already
)

Event was cringekino, imo. Very aidoru, but I liked it being different in the sense of abandoned AI just doing their own thing

Would be funny dragging Nanaka and Kuro out of Magrasea (whenever that happens) and having them come face to face with MDR. (Then again, I think that applies to a lot of the recurring characters in this game)

Oh hey, nice to see a thread for Neural Cloud.

How's everyone's current savings?

Been saving up for Hatsuchiri after Kuro blew through my savings, hoping that De Lacey comes first and gives enough buffer time to accumulate 180 rolls.

@MagicianX26 Can you throw me on the list as well? 636938 - handle Minah

As someone who tried to pick up GFL a year or so ago, Neural Cloud is a much easier game to get into. It's hard to say exactly if it's the less confusing mechanics or the improvements in game design as a game coming out in 2022, but it just is much easier to start playing.

Also, the game doesn't completely punish me for going wide and upgrading everyone, as well as allowing all units to hit 5 stars. The latter was one of the things that really turned me away from Arknights.

Didn't go for the shitposter, so I have like...250 rolls in total. Still honestly coasting off launch rewards and stuff, but I think that with me not really interested in building up a larger roster, Hatsuchiri will probably be my main target for the foreseeable future.

Done.

Also yeah, Neural Cloud feels like they were taking plenty of cliff notes of Arknights and a lot of the messy QoL behind that game and the irritating levels of balance. sadly there are still some bad units, like Sol or Centaurssi, but hey at least Arma Inscripta helps with the latter

Huh, Sol and Centaureissi are my two warriors at the moment, sad to hear they're not very good. Chelsea is the only other warrior I've got at the moment. Is she worth the investment, or should I just not invest in any of my warriors until I get someone else?

I really wanted Hubble, unfortunately it took all the way until pity for me to get her.

Sol and Centaureissi are fine, just not great for top level content from what I gather. Chelsea is good though. Outside a few outliers, you don't really need to hyper optimize your team comps unless you really want to.

We don't need to hyper optimize team comp yet. This is still GFL after all, I expect NC will have it's Singularity & Continuum Turbulence equivalents at some point.

Chelsea is currently one of my Support Units, so yeah, she's fairly good. It turns out that a Warrior with AoE knock back and stun can allow for some insane CC, when the map and positioning aligns right.

Maybe at some point I'll figure out a way to use Sol in a situation where she isn't a direct downgrade to other warriors, but yeah for now she really doesn't have much of anything going for her.

Pair her with Freznel, perhaps?

Sol's big problem is that 1) her stuff scales off hashrate which is uuuuuhhhhh for a warrior and 2) DoT stacking is a big part of her kit but her Burn stacks don't accumluate fast enough to be decisive (unless u bring Fresnel)

So yeah, if you want to use Sol, bring Fresnel

Honestly right now the only endgame is basically diving Enigma Black Hole so just do what you want

Best moments of chapter 4:

Helian: "Look, we're being attacked by the Army again, we need to pack up the Neural Cloud servers!"

Persica: "We can't just unplug and move the Neural Cloud servers like they were a coffee maker! The data in there is precious! My AI facsimile just got closer with the neural copy I made of the Commander's consciousness and I think that they're going to confess to her soon!"

Helian: "Okay, suddenly my love life doesn't seem that pathetic but still, we're taking artillery fire!"

Speaking as a GFL1 player first and foremost, NC honestly kind of embarrasses GFL1 with its acros-the-board improvements in design and quality.

GFL1 gots its China release in 2016. It is a game that frankly shows its age in terms of design decisions and legacy code.
