Scraped from here.

System: Unknown

Time: 6am, June 30, 1908

One jump point opened, three thousand miles from the surface of a satellite--the only satellite--in orbit around the third planet. Through it came a ship unknown to everyone in known space. It stopped, and it began to scan for signs of life. Quickly it found it--life was on the planets surface.

Within an hour, they headed towards the surface of the planet.

what the story is about? A crossover RL (1908 tunguska event )with an another univers or it is a new story?

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen" General Mort Confed said as he walked in the briefing room. The Earth officers stood up, but the Abbai and Hyach officers didn't.

"Whats the status on the Orieni fleet?" he asked, after everyone got settled again

"Holding their position. As they have done for the last six months" Captain Wearing reported "It looks like as if this is going to become the new permament border between ISA and Orieni space"

"Unless they try and attack us again" Confed said, frowning "Have they done anything whatsoever?"

"Not so much as a probe towards us sir. And I don't like it. They have a material advantage over us, both in capital ships and lighter vessels. Our T-Bolts are much better, both technologically and in training, but I can't see what is so, well, scary about this fleet"

"Could be the Warlocks and Victorys, sir" volunteered the youngest captain, Captain Velarde

"You mean to say they actually think the Warlocks and Victorys in this fleet can stop them?" Confed asked, and Velarde shrugged

"Possibly, sir" Velarde replied, and Confed frowned. The two sub-types of the Victory destroyer--the first sub-type with the Vorlon lightning cannon and the second one with advanced versions of Hyach and Minbari weapons--had started to come out of the shipyards over five years ago. They were good ships, but Confed found it hard to believe that the Warlocks and Victorys were what was keeping the Orieni from rolling over them.

The single ship entered atmosphere. People across the whole of Europe and Asia looked up, astonished, as what seemed to be a comet blazed in the sky. The ship's heat-resistant armour started to glow red, then orange and finally white.

"We have a problem!" Lieutenant Simar reported

"What is it?"

"We didn't calculate the angle of descent properly! If we don't correct it soon we'll burn up in atmosphere!"

Captain Frenail looked afraid, but something inside him snapped

"Activate manual controls!" he ordered

"But, sir, the computer--"

"Forget the damn computer! The computer will get us all killed!" Frenail snapped

"Manual controls activated"

Frenail gripped the arms of his seat as he started to change the descent of the craft. Soon, amazingly, the shuddering ceased, and Frenail looked towards Simar

"Hull temperatures reducing. We're on the right path" he reported "Well done, sir"

From Earth, the point of divergence rippled out at light-speed. The history of a dozen races had changed. For the better or for the worse, no-one could say, nor would anyone ever know.

General Mort Confed looked worried

"What the hell is that?" he asked

"I have no idea, but its all around us. In every direction" Wearing reported.

A message came through. On it, Elder Tarran's face appeared.

"What is happening?" he asked.

General Confed shook his head "We have no idea. As far as we can tell, its like a hyperspace portal, but--"

"We've never seen one that colour before" Tarran finished for him. And, indeed, no-one had ever seen it before--it was an endlessly changing sea of blue, red and black.

"Can we pick anything up from outside?" Confed asked

"No, not a thing" Annatar Serena replied. The leader of the Abbai contingent's voice interrupted Tarran's own reply

"Same here" he rasped

"Sir..." Wearing said

"Yes?" all three asked together

"It seems to be shrinking"

"What the hell is that?" Admiral Fellip asked.

"I have no idea" Admiral Greenham replied "It looks like a hyperspace portal, but circular in nature. And we can't reach inside to look at whats happening"

"First Ones?" Fellip asked, and Greenham shook his head

"Can't be"

"Well, whatever it is, I don't like it. It could be an invasion fleet, possibly from the Garmak" Fellip said

"It can't be. Surely if the Garmak knew about us, they would have attacked a long time ago. Remember, its almost 200 years since the Garmak tried to invade the Devenarii"

"True" the Devenarii admitted "But it could be hostiles"

"I agree. The Earth Home Fleet will take up station around the portal. Furious-class dreadnoughts and Takachiho-class heavy cruisers will act as the frontline, while the Emdem-class scouts, Washington-class fleet carriers and Bayonne-class missile corvettes will hang back to provide support" Admiral Greenham said

"And the Devenarii 4th Fleet will, of course, help you" Both admirals knew that the ship types were essentially the same--a Devena Primar was a Furious, a Takachiho a Deven and a Bayonne a Deverni--and that the dreadnoughts and heavy cruisers, each with their heavy rail cannons and phalanx arrays, were the best frontline warships.

Thousands of portals opened up everywhere. Luckily for most, no-one was caught up inside, and so no-one would ever know the changes that had occured. But for just one portal, a fleet had been trapped, and now would be flung across the dimensions, eventually to end up out of time...

Your questions will be answered on Monday. Possibly Tuesday. But a quick explanation should be enough:

The Devenarii are a species that, in this story, managed to get a hyperdrive. In normal B5, they didn't, and stayed in their own system until they were discovered around 500 years after the events of B5. They're non-canon, of course.

Within ten minutes the fleets had set up. The portal had started to shrink, so it was obvious that, whatever happened, would happen soon.

"Sir!" Captain Smyth said anxiously

"What is it?" Admiral Greenham asked

"The portal's rate of decay has increased exponentially. It will close within 10 seconds"

Greenham punched a button "All ships, if anything from that portal starts shooting, shoot back! Send default greeting message"

Place: Inside portal

Time: Unknown

"The bubble is starting to decay at a faster rate" Wearing reported "10 seconds to full decay"

"Guns, if anything shoots at us, fire back" General Confed ordered.

The portal closed finally. Everyone inside the portal had expected some turbulence, something to announce that it had gone, but nothing. That surprised them, but not as much as the meeting given to them

"This is the Earth-Devenarii Alliance dreadnought Queen Victoria. You are in territory belonging to the Earth-Devenarii Alliance. Explain your presence here, please"

General Confed looked shocked as he heard the words "Earth-Devenarii Alliance". Who were the Devenarii?

"Send a message back" he ordered

As the comms officer nodded to him, he spoke

"This is the Earth Alliance destroyer Mjollnir. Did you just say what I thought you said? 'Earth-Devenarii Alliance'?"

A message came back within seconds "Yes, you did. But who is this 'Earth Alliance'?"

General Confed looked around at the crew of the Warlock-class destroyer, and sighed "If we can talk face-to-face, it might help"

Within fifteen seconds, Admiral Greenham replied "That is acceptable. You may come across at any time"

In the last four hours events had moved along quickly. General Confed and Admirals Greenham and Fellip had met together, and both sides had quickly hit it off. Now, a briefing was about to begin. The higest-ranking officers of all fleets were here, and quite a few of the Abbai and Hyach looked anxious.

The two admirals and the general walked into the room. Silence descended upon the room like an axe.

"Good afternoon" General Confed said, and everyone sat down in their respective places. He was pleased to see that both sets of humanity were talking to each other. He was slightly less pleased that the Hyach hadn't really spoken to the--Devenarii, was it?--since the official First Contact, but things could change

"As you are well aware, my command is not in the correct time period it should be" he announced "What you are probably not aware of, however, is that we are not in the same dimension, either"

A murmur rang around the room, as various officers started to talk to their neighbours, but a couple of shouts across the room quickly quietened them down.

"History proceeded, as far as we can tell, the same way up until the year 1908. In our history, an object smashed into Siberia, flattening the area around it for miles around. After that, we experienced a period of warfare up until the Centauri Republic encountered us.

"However, this history proceeded differently. From what we now know, a Devenarii exploration vessel managed to land successfully in London. Days later, the Devenarii and various ambassadors of the Great Powers met for the first time, and the Devenarii helped Humanity into space. The first human extrasolar colony was established at the time, in our history, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were walking on the Moon. And, by the turn of the century, the Terra-like world of Novae Devenar was discovered and colonised by both Devenarii and humans, cementing what, in 2005, was known as the Earth-Devenarii Alliance"

"This is correct" Admiral Fellip said, as the murmurs grew louder "At this time, there were murmurings from the more conservative members of the Devenarii Confederation that we shouldn't keep exploring, that we should pull back and protect our homeworld. Their argument was very convincing. Our first contact was with a Garmak exploration fleet. A week later, a single Garmak heavy cruiser, what was left of the invasion fleet that had been sent to enslave us, came out of hyperspace. Luckily for us, we managed to disable their ships quite quickly, and captured several Garmak and a working hyperspace engine. With the Garmak as translators, we were able to start our own exploration efforts with our own hyperdrives. But the conservatives always worried that the next hyperspace route would be a stable one to Garmak space, and that we would allow an invasion fleet we couldn't stop to find their way to homeworld. A destroyed exploration ship would have convinced the waverers of the conservative's cause and would have pulled us back. We certainly wouldn't have made contact with Humanity, because we'd have been hoping no-one found us"

"That must have been what happened in our dimension" General Confed agreed "and it seems certain we can't find our way back" As a gasp ran through the room, he nodded "That event was a freak of nature. There seems no way that it could happen again"

Everyone looked stunned for a couple of moments, especially the Abbai and Hyach officers. General Confed felt sorry for them--after all, they'd been thrust into a completely different time period and a different universe to boot. But then General Confed was also in that same position, he thought.

"So, what happens now?" he asked.

Admiral Fellip replied first.

"Well, you could join the Earth-Devenarii Alliance" he proposed

"But how can we?" an Abbai officer said. Her head turned, looking at everyone in the room "We Abbai and Hyach will be severely outnumbered. I propose that we leave here and return to our respective homes. Hopefully we can warn our own people of what will happen"

"And then what?" Confed interrupted "The Abbai and Hyach are in decline--your two peoples won't be able to change much. But here" he jabbed a finger towards Earth "is where we can make a difference"

"What sort of difference?" asked the Abbai

"Well, have you seen the Earth-Devenarii warships?" Confed asked "They are extremely efficient--in fact, they're on a par with Dilgar War-era EarthForce warships! Their sensors are slightly better, and their fighters actually seem on a par with the Aurora Starfury. The only thing that might let them down are their weapons, and we've got advanced weapons"

"So you plan on conquering the galaxy" a Hyach officer spat, his voice laced with disgust as much as old age "I knew that we should never have joined the ISA along with war-like species!"

Several human officers sprang up from their chairs, shouting angrily, but General Confed shouted at them to sit down.

"No," he said, after everyone was settled "I'm not suggesting that. But what we can do is help to save the galaxy from the madness we know will envelop the galaxy in around 200 years time. We can prepare for the Dilgar War, and save billions of lives. We can stop the Earth-Minbari War, and save even more. And" he said, when the murmuring stopped "we can form an alliance to fight the Vorlons and the Shadows when they start to fight"

An awed silence fell over the room, and General Confed knew that, with those words, the Abbai and Hyach would come around. And with the Abbai and Hyach working together with the Devenarii and humans, they just might save the galaxy from madness.
