I love how he gives a speech about the building blocks of democracy and then goes on to call foreigners evil without actually talking about the building blocks of democracy.

Also is it me or are they coming up with CoD plots by throwing darts at a board covered in the names of discredited right wing ideologies? Last one was fascism, now got neo-conservative CoD.

Eagerly awaiting Monarchist CoD.

What? He never calls anyone evil. His whole spiel was like, anti-neocon.

He directly attacks the idea that the US can export democracy (which is such a mind-numbingly stupid belief that I just consider it a religion so I can continue respecting the people who cling to it), and outlines a handful of reasons why. Then makes very clear and strong arguments about what people DO want (security over liberty).

It's a few steps forward from Ghosts, by the looks of things. I'm willing to see how they implement it.

...Even though I pretty much already know I'm going to be disappointed.

I know. and he's obviously the villain. Like, very very obviously.

Notice the reasons he suggests for democracy not taking are all basically "foreigners are worse than us." There's never "well foreign countries don't have roads or communications infrastructure or civil societies that you kind of need to make this work." It's all "foreigners don't want freedom because they hate people who are of other religions and want to murder people who disagree with them!"

What I took away from that is he's going to be the villain of this piece and we're going to be delivered a message about how actually everyone wants freedom and democracy and apple pie.

Edit: Nobody who ever says "They don't want freedom they want boundaries!" has ever been other than evil in like, anything.

I want to see more footage first, but I think this one will be better than Ghost. Hopefully with the shift to a 3 year development cycle they'll be able to get a new running animation already.

If you watch the reveal trailer from COD:Ghosts, the part where you're seeing Venezuela (or wherever) flood, the running animation is the same one from COD:MW1. Like god damn, how much does mo-cap cost that you have to re-use the running animations for 7 years?

I'm holding out for grey/grey morality or a sympathetic antagonist. It would make sense given that they've gone with Kevin Spacey in the role, as opposed to the President or something, and they know they have to step up their game a bit in the story department (the series has been falling off in slow motion since MW1 which was immaculate in that regard).

That's even if he's the true antagonist instead of them setting it up as *twist* in the style of Spec Ops: The Line wherein you've been blindly following idealistic platitudes against all rationality, whereupon they collect their story telling awards and people buzz about replaying Spec Ops:The Line but with better gameplay, and more mainstream consumers are blown away by that revelation and the boldness to tell such a story.

Or it could just be a jumbled mess where nothing makes sense like Ghosts.

You know, just once I think I would like to play a game where you're on the same side as the charismatic leader who has a plan. Why do they always get handed the idiot ball and forced to become a villain. Things aren't always going to be gumdrops and icecream, sometimes you need to get your hands dirty to secure a better tomorrow.

Like a game where you have a Senator Armstrong who doesn't go with the whole "survival of the fittest" thing because aside from that everything he said I could agree with.

I kinda would like to see a recut of the trailer that's changed the voiceover to just Kevin Spacey enunciating 'Democracy' again and again. Would be funny.

Kevin Spacey's speech speaks to me. It encapsulates my very ideals.

First day purchase because of speech.

I'm awaiting anti-Marxist CoD. Let's see if America can beat Marxist.

So this is "What if CoD and House of Cards were in the same universe?" I'm interested.

I mean, it's just another CoD so I wont' buy it, but still, interested.

I like that it seems to be legitimately futuristic as opposed to "digital camo and shinier guns".

I think I should point out that they never had such an opportunity.
Yes, yes they did. Cloak? Had it in the previous game. Nothing technically impossible. Sprinting? It was promised since before Halo 2 was released, punching people really hard? Same. Throwing grenades like fastballs instead of 9 year old girls with cancer? Well thats just common sense. Duel wielding all weapons, regardless of how bull shit it is? Super. Soldier.

They had the opportunity. It wasn't that hard. But they threw it away because lazy.

But none of that would have made it -better- than Crysis. They would only be implementing what they should have had in the game. Besides, cloak is supposed to be a temporary item.

In Halo 2, it was reusable, and implied that the modern kind lasted basically forever. ME2, Halo 3, in both games there were situations where I would have traded my shield being active for a permacloak to move somewhere better, or just run up and beat something to death.
