And... things are back to normal. By which I mean nothing lower than a 70. At least this means you'll have to choose from the shinies now.

Friendships Are Easier Now!
No. You're not giving up. Not now, not this early. Not ever, if you can swing it.

And you can, because there's something about you that's better than a lot of people, something that, according to your teenage friends, happens for everyone that gets a Digivice.

You want to protest that, because Tai and Kari can actually keep up with you, but while you can out-stubborn a lot of adults, you know that you can't stand up to these people. Because they're all veritable geniuses, the most stubborn people in the room, able to convince anyone of anything.

It's infuriating. But at least you have the reassurance that maybe, someday, you can stand on equal footing with them. Until then, you'll stick with friends your own age when it comes to working with people.

And you know just how to do it.

You aren't going to their apartment again, of course. That's just a bad idea, no matter how you put it. You don't want to be poisoned again.

Instead, you just enjoy the fact that it's spring now and invite them to the park.

The park. Pretty much the place where you've spent most of your time since the move. You used to visit every Sunday, even managed to find some time in the winter, and are now using it to spend time with your friends. Just like always.

Biyomon likes it, too. It's the place where she's best able to stretch her wings. You have a few rings with you.

You're going to teach Tai to throw them. Your partner says that's a bad idea, but you think she's just worried about being hit on the head again. As if she'd ever have to worry about that again. For someone from a species deemed as weak fliers, she is far too comfortable in the air.

"Hey, Sora!" You hear him calling, and turn to see him approach, followed closely by Kari. She hasn't been whistling as much recently, which you appreciate. It's much easier than relying on her brother to translate.

"Tai!" Yeah. Today's gonna be a good day.

Despite getting off to a terrible start, you're pretty sure this year is going to go as well as it possibly can. You've enjoyed the chance to relax, and with how uninvolved with everything Tai and Kari are, you can pretend to be just a normal kid.

It's nice.

But such a thing can't last forever, and soon you find yourself in desperate need of something else to do.

You have 39 months remaining. Choose your next project.

No invisitext this time. Neat. Also gotta say I agree with the idea of making some new connections, even if Haruka herself gives us the creeps still. Who knows, we might meet Izzy.

Yeah, seems like a decent plan. Though, we will probably miss out on physical training until next year, since this will bypass spring. Ah, whatever, that's not too important just yet.

Mini-Coders! What Could Possibly Go Wrong?
School is such a drag. It's not that you don't know the material- you actually grasp it pretty well. It's just that homework is boring and, maybe due to that, some things just end up going over your head.

You don't mean to, really. And you're getting by just fine, but... you can't help but think that you can do better than this. That you can achieve more. Even if you only know of one way to do it.

It's time to go to Haruka.

You're not the only one she tutors, of course. She's been running a study group of all ages for a couple of months now, and it wasn't all that hard to squeeze yourself in. Being on good terms with the one running the thing has its benefits, it seems.

Not that it means much. The group itself isn't all that large. Most people your age don't bother with tutors, and you feel strangely out of place, never mind that it's a 'class' of three. You, the blue-haired older boy with glasses that seem just the slightest bit too large for him, and the redhead who mumbles something while messing with his computer.

And then there's the teacher herself, leaning back in her chair with papers covering the table in front of her, written in an odd symbolic script that looks vaguely familiar.

Just to be sure, you take out your Digivice. Yep. There's definitely at least some overlap there. For a moment, you wonder if leaving Biyomon at home was strictly necessary, before shaking you head. You don't know if you can trust these boys yet, let alone introduce them to your bird buddy.

The first session isn't all that comfortable. The two boys write and pass notes to each other in the odd symbol-script while Haruka attempts to teach you quantum physics. You don't quite get there, but you think you've picked up something from it.

It takes a few weeks, but eventually you start to find your place in the library. Of the three of you, Izzy is easily the smartest, quickly grasping new concepts and writing notes entirely in those odd symbols, so that others won't be able to copy him. He seems to really look up to Haruka, and is obviously her favorite.

When it comes to academics, Joe isn't very far behind Izzy, but you wonder how much of that isn't just him being older. It's certainly not natural genius. Izzy catches on more quickly than anything, but Joe makes up for it with hard work and study.

And then there's you. While a lot of the reading and writing the group does is the same as you've been learning in school- in contrast to the math and science, some of which you're not sure high school students are learning- a lot of notes have symbols along with them, which doesn't really help you, because you can't read the symbols. But you try your hardest despite that, and Haruka does eventually remember to teach you.
(Sora has gained the skill: Digicode Programming at +1)
"How did you not already know this?" Izzy asks you. "That device you carry has Digicode on it!"

You pause. "Is that why the two of you didn't help me? You thought I already knew it? I literally just found it one day!"

You don't say how you found it, of course. There's really know way to prepare others for this crazy. You doubt they'd believe you either way, even if they are learning to write in the language of the Digital World. Especially since they don't actually know that's what it is.

"So, why are you teaching us Digicode?" You ask Haruka one day after your session. The others haven't gone home yet- Joe's buried in a first-aid manual while Izzy's enjoying the local internet connection, which you didn't know was open to the public.

Assuming he hasn't just hacked it. You wouldn't put it past him.

"It helps to be able to write in a way nobody else understands," She tells you. "Really, having a go-to cipher this complex could save your life one day."

You doubt that. Highly. But you decide to humor her. "Why would I need one?"

"Reasons. Honestly, I'm more worried about you kids wandering between worlds," She admits. "And it's the written language of the Digimon, so you may as well learn it. I was the only one of my group who did and that ended... badly. Things might have gone better had we the time or the people to translate that prophecy the entire way, but we didn't, so... That's what happens when you carve that stuff in supersize font on a mountain, I guess." She shrugs, and doesn't elaborate further.

You're not sure you want her to, honestly. You haven't heard a lot of stories about what happened in the Digital World, but on all accounts, none of the major events were entirely pleasant.

"I see. Th-thanks." You're still not entirely comfortable around Haruka, but you think that maybe, in her own way, she's trying to look out for you.

Okay, wow. That's a hell of a ripple. Izzy knowing Digicode off the bat is going to mean he'll be able to figure out that hiding tree and other stuff really easily.

Most interesting...

I'm not sure what stats we should pump, or who we should invest in quite yet. I'd love to be able to get the Digital World vote and take care of it, but it's still only a 15% chance of success.

Also, have a plan:

[x] Plan Shore Up the Bases
+1 WIS
+1 INT
+1 CHA

This is to start getting us a little more even in our stats. That WIS stat needs a boost.

Oh, very well, since so many people wanted it last time:

[X] Summer might be over, but there's still time to exercise. Kazuya's willing to help, so long as you let him off come winter. (Time: 3 months. DC 30. Train physical skills, improve relationship with Kazuya.)

As for stats... our current ones are:

INT: 9 (+2)
WIS: 6 (+2)
CON: 12
WILL: 10 (+6)
DEX: 16
LUC: 11
CHA: 8

Taking into account that Diligent has a new downside:
After a successful use of this trait, roll against sickness.

I'd say we shore up CON a tad bit more since that help resist illness (though, learning Medicine might help prevent that too, so lets do that next). Otherwise, I kind of want to up LUC again, since that affects HP and event rolls, but I'm not entirely sure what qualifies as an "event roll" to begin with, so I'm not sure. I also kind of want to capitalize on the high DEX and up it even more, but that seems rather unnecessary at present time since we're not in Digi-world yet and there's nothing to be climbed/dodged/etc. INT isn't terribly important right now either from what I can tell. CHA... well, we're probably in the real world for a while longer, and most these events have been interacting with people ones, so that might be decent. Since WIS and WILL are multiplied to get base DS, we want to keep them close to each other for maximum effect (1 WIS and 70 WILL = 70, 35 WIS and 35 WILL = 1225), so... yeah, let's shore that up. By the time we get to digi-world, we want it even with WILL.

[X] Plan Shore Up the Bases (Modified)

+1 CON
+1 WIS
+1 CHA

Side note, the digital world option's DC has decreased by 5, presumably due to our new knowledge. Might be worth going for soon... maybe. Little more grinding first, I think.
