So, until she's removed from Carol's care, Carol probably has the right to refuse medical treatment for her daughter unless the other spouse objects.

Amy and Victoria deserve better than this. Hell, their whole family except Neil deserves better than Carol and Sarah deserves better than Neil (if him being Victoria's real father is canon).

I could definitely see her doubling down on her animosity towards Arcanum, however, I don't think Arcanum would not heal her just because Carol said he couldn't. He's way too chaotic good, if he needs to break the law to do the right thing he's probably just gonna break the law. And the only one mad about it would be Carol.

Called it, Carol needs to go to the birdcage. I think it would be poetic justice for her to end up there with Marquis.
In what world is this bird cageable?
It's not murder. It has no manswayer. It's accidental. And they reached out for help fast enough that with Arcanum, there will be no lasting damage.

Not to mention all of the professional and heroic good that Carol does outside of her famoly life as a hero/lawyer.

Oof it seems Carol dun fucked up here. The real question here is will this jolt Carol into course correcting or will she double down. We shall see, I suppose.

Both Aunt Sarah and Victoria arrived just in time to watch Amy tumble down the stairs. The sound of meaty impacts and snapping bones cut through everything. Amy came to a stop at the turn into the stairs, cracking a pair of balusters as she slammed to a halt. At the top of the stairs was Carol, her eyes wide as she looked down at the unmoving healer
Um, is Amy alive right now, or has Carol just become a killer? ( there is a difference between murder and manslaughter, even if Carol wants to ignore it). 'Cause whilst that may be survivable, it is also well more than enough to kill a human, and Amy isn't noted to have more than baseline physical resiliency...

And the possibility of Amy 2nd triggering just went WAY WAY UP!

- she's pissed at Arcanum because of his ability to do brains
- also because he's getting paid, and she doesn't think he should because Carol has convinced her that healing should be free
- she's depressed because Carol treats her like a pariah, nothing ever good enough, and every slight by Amy brings the hammer down
- upset with herself because she can't/won't allow herself to help her Mark, who's always supported her, and hasn't helped temper Carol because he's checked out too often
- being pushed to the limit by [Shaper] to do new and interesting things, but keeps repressing it to keep from going full Nilbog on BB

I'm confused as to who smacked who. I *think* Carol smacked Amy, but it could easily be the other way around and Amy lost her balance when turning around to continue down the stairs. It will be obvious as to who struck whom, by seeing if Carol has the hand print on her face since Arcanum's healing will keep it from being visible on Amy.

Fewer cliffhangers please.

At least we now know what led up Amy being in the ER.

Second Triggers require circumstances similar to the first in order to go off. While this event is absolutely Trigger worthy, its not going to cause Amy to second trigger.

Probably not. Vickys was a result of expectations piled on top of her building up until the tipping point where she got fouled in an important game that would have landed her a scholarship. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what her trigger event was, it's been a while

Was it that or her feelings of failure and inadequacy? Like she'd been feeling all the interlude, like she's failed and should have seen what was happening sooner.

IIRC, Amy's triggered was seeing Vicky bleeding to death after a mall shootout?
(so a second trigger is unlikely from her)

Vicky's was a combination of growing pressure, both from having a huge parahuman family and being excluded from it while dealing with it's fallout mixed with a personal failure.

Ironically, I'd actually argue that the person most likely to second trigger here would probably be Carol.

While I don't think Carol should be Birdcaged for this, there has to be consequences beyond removing Amy from a toxic home environment. Amy is a minor that got hospitalized by an adult, and there's enough spotlight on this family that this isn't likely to be swept under the rug. Even if it's just some Protectorate hero taking her aside behind closed doors to have a talk, the chance of a re-occurrence of this is too high to tolerate when you've got a big name healer like Panacea.

Also I still think this should be an excuse to punish Nazis.

Damn, Amy is no saint, but everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home, stressors like Carol ruin people.

Thinking about it, this is the first time I have read a Carol Dallon acting like a violent abuser without the use of her power involvement.

#SavePanPan!

Welp, somebody may be in need of brain injury healing.
The question is: Can Arcanum's healing undo the PSTD that Amy and Carol suffer under?

By the exact things Vicky has been taught by the woman, she should now arrest her own mother. Situation officially FUBAR.
Not arresting/reporting somebody for a crime that they committed because they're family is a corrupt action. So, yes, at this time, the entire heroic family should be restraining Carol and calling the authorities.

I'm not sure it can. Straight trauma is baked into memories and associations, it's not actual physical damage. He is working from a more esoteric angle though, it'll be facinating if his healing picks up on and fixes emotional damage. Now, possible chemical imbalances from extended aura exposure, on the other hand... things will be awkward if Amy wakes up and starts realizing that a lot of stuff she has been thinking, feeling and believing don't make sense. Right on the heels of being severely injured by Carol, she might jump to some very unfortunate conclusions.

I've been binging this fic, and I just want to say that I've really been enjoying it and am greatly looking forward to what happens next! :)

So, the PRT are very serious about thoroughly testing all Tinker-tech, and if someone is a hero with unvetted technology, they have the legal high-ground to say "Get that tested, or we're confiscating it."

Every one of those quotes is from or about Protectorate heroes, who are under PRT authority, of course they would have the ability to control their tinker tech. As far as your character references, Dragon didn't work for the PRT I'm fairly sure, nor did she submit her tech for their approval. I doubt she could have kept her status as an AI secret if she did. So we already have an example of a tinker who didn't get their tech seized or inspected. I can somewhat understand the PRT being able to seize tinker tech that was involved in a criminal incident, even if it's used defensively, but being able to seize it simply for existing? I don't buy it. I mean technically that rule/law could be used to seize anything, since they don't know if it's tinker tech until they examine it. I really don't buy a legally enforced ability to confiscate anything at any time for no reason, which is what this sounds like.
