I have been looking around on this forum and haven't found much of an answer of this question.specifically to the people who know Britain internal politics during the Napoleonic wars, i have heard that there was a push for peace after the disasters of the third and fourth coalitions (including the king from what i understand but he was also going in and out of madness at the time so i don't think he had much impact in policy decisions like he did earlier in his reign) so i'm wondering what pod could be used in allowing this "peace party" to succeed in making peace with Napoleonic France after Tilsit, even if it's more like a peace of amiens then a treaty of Paris.

I tried this question over at alternethistory.com and got no replys and 4 votes so I'm hopeful I can get a good descution hear.

I think by this time there was so much mistrust of Napoleon, and possibly vice versa that a negotiated peace is pretty unlikely. Britain would want a peace which removed France's domination of the continent and Napoleon wouldn't accept there. If he was willing to agree to terms I suspect anything he wanted would be pretty much fatal to British independence, which similarly would be something Britain would only accept to avoid total defeat.

stevep that is true and it was what is in my opinion what prevented any negotiations from happening after the disasters of the threed and fourth coalition, i was gust wondering if any body had a better idea on britons political situation that would have the people that at list nominally believed napoleon enufe to make peace even if it only lasted like 1-3 years. I haven't been able to find much information on them so this probably wasn't likely but it was something i found interesting to explore from my last thread.
