Hello, all. This is a renewed version of my Hyrule Dynasty Quest that became defunct due to complexity and IRL complications. After playing Crusader Kings II and becoming more familiar with the mechanics, I have decided to give this another try.

This quest takes place starting immediately after the events of Breath of the Wild.

For the purposes of this thread, I am assuming that Link has completed every side quest available in the Breath of the Wild, completed all 120 shrines, conquered all four Divine Beasts, defeated Calamity Ganon, and completed the Trial of the Sword from The Master Trials. I am NOT assuming that he has collected every Korok seed, that he has fully upgraded versions of the armor sets, or that he has defeated every overworld boss.

A note for future readers of this thread: This thread was created before the release of any major story details regarding The Champions Ballad, the second DLC for Breath of the Wild. The Champions Ballad story details will not have an effect on the game at the beginning, but they may affect the game farther down the road.

Here is a link to the thread that gave me my original inspiration months ago, credit goes to @Aranfan: Hyrule Dynasty Quest (CK2)
Here is a link to my original thread that this is a revival of: Hyrule Dynasty Quest Reboot

Maps
I am posting a primitive image of the campaign map for positioning purposes. The Hyrule map is based on Breath of the Wild, the Termina map is based on Majora's Mask, and the Spiritia map is an upside down version of the New Hyrule map from Spirit Tracks. If someone more skilled at making maps than I could take this and make it into something more fleshed out, that would be greatly appreciated.

Game Mechanics
Here is a link to the Google Doc for the mechanics of the new version when I start it. It is currently set so that anyone can make comments on the document, so feel free to leave any and all comments that you have:

CK2 Hyrule Dynasty Quest Mechanics

Note: At the beginning of Turn 1, you may assume that you have a militia-type army* sufficient enough to defend the country during peacetime. It is enough to perform basic policing and to suppress monsters, but not enough to engage in a prolonged war.

*If you are playing as a primarily sea-based country such as Arcadia (@Easter) or the Ocean Realm, you have a small navy instead of an army.

Points about the Story/Setting
These are points about the story or setting that would be common knowledge to most, if not all, characters by the time this story begins:
  • This quest assumes that Breath of the Wild takes place in the Child Timeline, about 10,000 years after Twilight Princess. As a result, many events that are prominent in The Legend of Zelda lore, such as the Hero of Time battling and defeating Ganondorf, will not be within the records of any nation.
    • In addition, the people of Termina will have a great respect for the Hero of Time, more so than the people of Hyrule, due to the events of Majora's Mask.
    • The events of Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons occur with a different incarantion of Link within that 10,000 year period between Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild.
  • Onox has reappeared as a result of the presence of Malice within the Western Continent. He had been absorbing dark energy from the Malice for about 90 years after the Calamity; then, he broke free of his seal and used the roaming monster hoards to depose the previous government. Onox has been ruling in Holodrum for the past 10 years.
  • Labrynna is a Democratic Republic due to the ever-constant threat of Veran the Sorceress after her possession of Queen Ambi and the construction of the Black Tower. After this, it was decided that the Queen's Palace would be converted into a home and work area for the Prime Minister and his cabinet, and the Black Tower would become a building for a new British-style Parliament.
    • The Logic behind this: The people of Labrynna are fearful that if one person controlled all of the political power, then Veran could easily possess them and terrorize their country once more.
    • As a result, the people and government of Labrynna are ever-cautious of single-ruler governments like monarchies and dictatorships.
  • Spiritia up until recently had a monarchial government much like Hyrule's; however, the King of Spiritia was recently killed under mysterious circumstances without an heir. In the absence of an heir, the regency of Spiritia has been taken over by the King's Chancellor, a man known as Cole. Not much is known to the public about Cole, but rumors circulate about him throughout the continent, such as stories of servants hearing wild laughter or getting an odd chill when walking near his bedchamber.
  • Why Gerudo live in Ikana Canyon: After the events of Majora's Mask, as naval trade became more heavy between Hyrule, Termina, Labrynna, and other nations like Arcadia, each nation started to devote military resources to deterring pirates from raiding merchant vessels. As a result, the Pirates' Fortress was founded and raided, leaving the Terminan Gerudo without a proper home. When Link ended the curse from Ikana Valley, the dead residing there were able to completely pass into the afterlife, leaving Ikana open to settlement. The displaced Gerudo took up residence in Ikana and have been there ever since. The Ancient Castle now serves as the residence of the appointed Chief of the Ikanan Gerudo Tribe.

Religions
Hey, all, I just realized something that might be kind of important to include in a game like this is a list of religions, so you may ascribe to one or more of them for you people. I will also update the Google Doc with this list. If there are any original religions you would like added to this list, please let me know.
  • Worship of the Three Goddesses of Hyrule (Din, Nayru, Farore)
    • Triforce of Power
    • Triforce of Wisdom
    • Triforce of Courage
  • Worship of Hylia, The One True Goddess (This also constitutes worship of Princess Zelda herself.)
  • Worship of Demise, The God who tore Time Asunder (This also constitutes worship of Ganon and Calamity Ganon.)
  • Worship of the Five Spirits of Spiritia
  • Worship of the Four Giants of Termina
  • Worship of the Three Gods of Lorule (Nid, Uryan, Eroraf)
    • Triforce of Beauty
    • Triforce of Vengeance
    • Triforce of Shrewdness
  • Worship of Majora
  • Atheism
  • Druidism (Worship of Nature Spirits)
  • Alatrism (Recognition of Gods, but do not worship them)
  • Worship of One's Ancestors

New Game +/ Beginning of Turn 1
One hundred years have passed since that fateful day... when the Kingdom of Hyrule was utterly consumed by the horror known as Calamity Ganon. But now, that era of terror is finally over. Link, the final champion of Hyrule, has risen from his slumber, reawakened the Divine Beats, and slain Ganon once and for all...

Or did he?

Believing all to be well, Link and Zelda have begun the process of rebuilding their long-lost empire. The villages of Hateno and Kakariko have pledged their direct fealty to her to Zelda, and many of Hyrule's former vassals and sworn their loyalty to the crown. However, not all of their former subjects are so eager to go back to the old ways. There is tension spreading throughout some of the former vassals, and it seems obvious that it wouldn't take much to convince these provinces to leave Hyrule behind.

I think we're at the point where we can start the new game, since all of our players are in.
Players, you may subject your character sheets (if you have not already done so) as well as your actions for Turn 1. The tentative due date for these is December 30 (two weeks from now) due to the holidays; however, if everyone submits these beforehand and I get the opportunity to calculate the results, I will go on ahead and start Turn 2 before December 30.

If I do not get the opportunity to say so before: Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to all of you!

End of Turn 1/ Beginning of Turn 2 (NG+)
Year 1 has ended. Today, we stand at the cusp of a new year (oddly appropriate, considering what day it is). Since the holiday season has mostly ended, we are going to move on to one-week turns like we had them before, unless there are any major objections. As such, Turn 2 actions will be due at the latest by Saturday, January 6th, 2018.

The following are pieces of information that every major ruler could find out easily either by official channels or simply through hearsay.

First Contacts and Major Diplomacy
  • Arcadia and Termina have made first contact. They have elected to sign a pact of non-agression.
  • Arcadia and Labrynna have made first contact. They have elected to sign a pact of non-agression.
  • Hyrule and Arcadia have made first contact. Their negotiations are still in progress.
  • Holodrum and Spiritia have made first contact. Their negotiations are still in progress.
  • Termina attempted to initiate first contact with Lorule, but their envoys were rejected.
Major News
  • Vah Rudania rides again! After roaming for one hundred years under Ganon's influence, Vah Rudania once again has a pilot. The current pilot, Yunobo, is the direct descendent of Daruk, its previous rider.
  • Traffic on the Sea of Arcadia has become noticeably hectic, between both merchant ships and military vessels. As can be expected, the increase in military presence has decreased the number of pirate attacks in the Sea of Arcadia.

End of Turn 2/ Beginning of Turn 3 (NG+)
Everyone has turn in their actions and, as such, Turn 2 has ended. Turn 3 actions will be due on Saturday, January 13th, 2018. If you posted your actions early, I may be a little slow to respond; I'm moving into my new place for school on Monday.

The following are pieces of information that every major ruler could find out easily either by official channels or simply through hearsay.

First Contacts and Major Diplomacy
  • The negotiations between Hyrule and Arcadia are still in progress.
  • Holodrum and Spiritia have ended their diplomacy. They made no major agreements during the discourse.
  • Arcadia and Holodrum have made first contact.
  • Termina and Lorule have made first contact.
Other Major News
  • Another Divine Beast is discovered! Link, the Champion of Hyrule, has become the rider of a new Divine Beast, the Master Cycle Zero. Like the Guardians, it is of ancient Sheikah design and unlike anything you have seen before!
  • Many sailors have started to notice a ship of an odd design in the oceans near the western continent. It is a small ship, appearing to be made entirely of iron, and is not powered by a sail. The ship is not flying any colors, so it is not apparent from where it hails.
  • The tomb of the Hero of Time has been discovered! Those who have discovered it are managing to keep its actual location pretty hush-hush; however.
Turn 2 Player Wealth Leaderboard (#1 is the Wealthiest Nation)
  1. Arcadia
  2. Labrynna
  3. Spritia
  4. Hyrule
  5. Holodrum
  6. Termina
