Here's a random thought for you: Every single Japanese WWII cruiser could outrun a US cruiser during the middle of the night. If it wasn't for radar the US Navy would have taken much heavier casualties.

Their last post in this thread prior to this was 2.5 years ago, and mentioned they were drunk.
Via the Tethercat Principle, we can assume that they are still drunk, and have wandered back to a computer again.

No. This is for later, not soon, and not with the checkup. We do not want to look any crazier than we already do until we can trust them to keep their mouths shut, even if they think telling others is in our best interest.
We are not touching this soon. At all. This is the last problem to tackle, all the others need to be handled first before we enter that mess. Valk on Valk is far enough away I'm not worried, and we are more capable than almost anyone else of detaining someone without hurting them.
NOPE. Not touching this any time soon. You also assume Sandra is already entirely trustworthy, when she isn't proven to be yet. Again. This is a loooong way away for a lot of reasons.
The first time skip was 23 days. Combined with the first week, that's roughly 30 days. We are now having another time skip of 50 days, with two weeks of vacation tacked on to the end of it, bringing us up by roughly another 64 days.

So, by the time the next set of updates rolls around and we begin the next arc, roughly 90ish days will have passed. The thread might be moving slow, but unless we go back to lots of day by day actions, time is actually moving fairly fast for Anna, and many things are coming faster than we may be prepared for if we keep sitting on our thumbs. Even if we feel a need to put some of this off for now, we can't put the Valk vs Valk thing off much longer unless we want to just sit out the tournament.

As for trusting, we can at the very least trust Sandra, and Shuri has shown herself able to keep her mouth shut for when it counts. I could accept an argument that Anna wouldn't trust Shuri, but I'm pretty sure that argument can't reasonably be extended to Sandra. Maybe one could argue that Anna wouldn't be aware of those problems or willing to admit them to be problems in the first place, but that's something entirely different.
If we tried to spar against Shuri we would run a significant risk of killing her. I'd rather Anna not do that.
Eh, I think in between warning her ahead of time that the purpose of this match is to get Anna more mentally comfortable with this and having the instructors there and also warned, we'd be as fine as we'd likely ever be.

It might not be pretty, but the whole valk tournament wasn't either, and Anna did still make progress. It will be at least a couple months in verse, so I think enough time will have passed.

I'd be up for hearing an intermediary step though?

Random thought: Anna learning something like meditation or martial arts solely to have kata (IIRC thats the term) to go through as a way to clear her head/relax. (though the second one could be self justified as helping her fighting ability in CQB).

I mean if Anna tries to ask about such things from Coke Zero or something it means more possible screen time too...

I'm just thinking of Mundane things to do. I mean Anna's combat power is insane so we don't *have* to focus overly on training, right?

If we want to ease Anna into competing with other humans, do not start with gun duels. Have her do simpler things like air races or target practice competitions. It should be easy enough on her that Durga/War!Anna won't take over and will get her more comfortable with opposing other people in safe environments.

Or Boardgames. There is a Boardgames club already. She'd just need to warn people she can't turn off her syncing.

Meddling!Executive: Pillow fights to get more viewers!

OH poker night at the Arcology.

Sestusna: *looks at Anna's poker face* .... .............. I fold
Coke Zero: Really?
Setsuna: Look at her! She's a god damn sphinx!

Honestly Anne shouldn't be competing in the tournament, because the tournament is meant for cadets and students and Anne is number 1. Like there's absolutely no question about the outcome if Anne competes.

now I'm picturing Anna trying to tell Durga to tone down on trying to win monopoly.

Durga: Take Boardwalk!
Anna: But I wanted all of the orange ones so I could make hotels....
Durga: But the boardwalk!
Anna: : (
Durga: Ack! OK OK orange ones!
Anna: : )

Whatever one else sees on the outside: *passive poker face Anna*

Honestly, I'm not against this line of reasoning, but I think we need to ask the question then of how we make it up to our flight?

Because... let me find it now...
Your energy would be better spent training against actual enemies. You could assist Koujirou and Setsuna in their training, but otherwise you were not inclined to have anything to do with this event. However, with how eager Koujirou and Setsuna were for the position of Squadron Vanguard, the representative flight competition was likely something that was going to require you compete unless you get a waiver.
Our flight will be down at least one member in the flight competition. It's possible two, as Shuri seemed to take her cue as whether or not to participate in this last tournament by waiting to see if Anna would. There is another Ace out there so she may decide it would be worth her time there though.

So, yeah, I'm okay with Anna not participating in theory. I think it's a reasonable line of thought that sidesteps a lot of her issues and her participating in the first place is rather unfair, but I think we need to make it up to our flight and our squadron (who likely really want to see Anna go at it) and do something to keep character relevance.

Perhaps we could somehow start a chain of events to create our own Arc shortly before?

Uggh why Monopoly? That game turns family members against one another and destroys long friendships.

Aren't there safer forms of competition they could do instead?

Like Hot potato with live grenades.

Life?

Setsuna: Ok now Anna draws a card.... *draws card for Anna while showing her how to play* oh your going to have a daughter.

Anna: ..... *Blue screens*

need to figure out what the arc would cover character wise.

Hmm... we don't have much to go on honestly.

Perhaps Anna could suggest one of the things she originally thought the tournament could/would be like a competition to see who scores the most throughout various simulator scenarios?

Best I can think of at the moment.

well I was thinking more from a narrative/characterization purpose.

What narrative purpose do you want to give the arc? For example you could make the arc about de-weaponizing/helping Anna be more 'normal' while in the larger context of the 'anime' Anna and Shuri can provide a warning to Coke Zero on what could/will happen if he goes too far (or making the point that there are no heros, only soldiers... tired tired soldiers).

They could play Apples to Apples, with regards to the 'gaming' line of thought.
Show Anna's weirdness with her utter inability to match anything to anything.

That brings another idea.

Dog competition. Except it's with the RC vehicles they've build. Complete with the vehicles owners gushing over their petscreations.

And if most of the team/Flight are anything like the people I've played with, tons of sex jokes will be made and Anna won't get any of them.
Could be worse. They could play Cards Against Humanity.

EDIT:

I second this. We must build D0G.

It would be interesting to see how Anna would take to something like meditation and if it would help her in any way.

Hey, at least it is not Democracy. That is the Monopoly from Super Hell.

yes but that would show flustered Anna to more viewers!

Thought if someone ever teaches Anna how to make jokes she could deadpan shit *really* well.

edit: they could play Secret Hitler or maybe a tabletop RPG. Have the Valks cores do all the stat tracking :p

We are 100% sitting out the tournament. Putting Anna in destroys the entire point anyway, because she could likely take everyone else perhaps sans Shuri all at once were she to go all out. It's so egregiously unfair and pointless that it isn't even a teaching experience.
Honestly, I'm not against this line of reasoning, but I think we need to ask the question then of how we make it up to our flight?
We do other stuff with them, like get them up on Impeller skill to begin teaching them fun tricks. And maybe poking around Koji's frame to try and induce more weapons, while Setsuna tsun's in the background.
