Nestled atop the cliffs that rise from the Sword Coast, the citadel of Candlekeep houses the finest and most comprehensive writings collection of writings on the face of Faerun. It is an imposing fortress, kept in strict isolation from the intrigues that occasionally plague the rest of the Forgotten Realms. It is secluded, highly regimented, and it is home.
Within these hallowed walls of knowledge your story begins. You have spent most of your life within this keep's austere walls, under the tutelage of the sage Gorion. Acting as your father, he has raised you on a thousand tales of heroes and monsters, lovers and infidels, battles and tragedies. However, one story was always left untold: that of your true heritage. You have been told that you are an orphan, but your past is largely unknown... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prologue I (Character Creation)
You shift in your bed uncomfortably. Your dreams have always been uneasy, but last nights were the worst. Images of blood and war had assaulted your mind. You shake your head and try to clear the cobwebs from your brain. A rooster in the distance crows and you sigh in irritation. It is time to start your chores.
You do not wait for someone to wake you. Gorion will have long since awoken and made his way to his research in the library. You pause at the thought of your foster father. The man loved you, of that you are certain. The man held nothing but pride for his adopted:
Gender: [] [Gender] Son
[] [Gender] Daughter
Despite his love and affection, you had begun to feel distant from the man. He had increasingly left you to your own devices and studies around the citadel. You wondered if this distance was a part of growing up. You shake your head once again. Such idle thoughts will not get your chores done. You make yourself a quick breakfast and wash your face in the basin close to your room. As you look into the water, you see staring back at you a:
Living among the scholars of Candlekeep, you were treated equally regardless of your race or gender; however, you know that the outside world is not so kind. Your background, living among theses scholars, has been limited to more educational pursuits, but you focused more on being:
You finish washing and head out to focus on your chores. Today is a special day. Because today, Gorion has said that it is time for you to begin an apprenticeship. (You will choose your class in Prologue 2). ------------------------------------------------------------------- Game Information D&D 5th Edition D&D 5th Edition Wikia
Hello and welcome to Baldur's Gate: Sufficient Velocity Edition. The goal is to create a DnD Campaign based on the decisions and choices of SV Questers. A few bits of information to start. We will be using the Dungeons and Dragon's Fifth Edition Ruleset with some minor changes to accommodate the quest nature of this campaign. Decisions in combat (unless it has story consequences) will be determined by a wisdom or intelligence roll (whichever is higher). I will then use that roll to determine the decisions made by your character in combat.
Stats will be determined by Standard Array.
Inspiration will be given based on number of votes. For now, the threshold will be:
25+ Votes=Inspiration
50+ Votes=XP Boost
Fan Art/Omakes=Major XP Boost.
Regarding the actual story of Baldur's Gate, I reserve the right to change up anything. As DM, I plan to change some things that will be different from the game.
Inventory Management/Spell Components As a DM, I don't like to get overly complicated with this. Certain spells (specifically resurrection ones and higher tier) will require ingredients, but I'm not going to be picky if you don't have a forked twig and try to cast locate object. As for inventory management, I don't really mess with encumberment, but obviously if you're carrying a ton of heavy things I'll be using common sense.
Anyways, I think that's everything Major. I reserve the right to update this post as necessary to reflect changing rules. Let's have some fun!
