Ashes to Ashes

It is the year 2014. The Ukraine is going up in flames, people are pissed off at the American President for a thousand different reasons, the world as a whole is generally doing its best to tear itself apart...

And then the Event happened.

Suddenly, every power plant everywhere shut off. Car engines failed as the fuel stopped combusting in the pipes. Guns no longer fired, and rather than burning fast enough to explode and send bullets flying, gun powder and explosives themselves no longer released the energy necessary to actually explode. In the space of a single moment, the modern world died. Millions of people died on the first day as well, as planes fell from the sky like multi-ton missiles filled with highly flammable fuel and screaming passengers, as public order rapidly fell apart when emergency services could not physically cope with the work they had before them any longer. Electricity no longer powers the world's heart.

It is now two months after that event. The food in the cities has run out - and there are rumors that some who were trapped within have now taken to preying upon their fellow man as a food source...

But you and a band of your friends and all of your families escaped. How lucky you are to live in...

[]The Southeast Coast - Good amounts of wood, abundant arable land, some grazing land, good fresh water, good salvage, lots of ruins. HOWEVER: Lots of Bandits, Lots of Cannibals
[]North Texas/Oklahoma - Little wood, good amounts of arable land, good grazing land, fair amounts of fresh water, little salvage, few ruins. HOWEVER: Very few bandits or Cannibals.
[]Pacific Northwest - Abundant wood, good arable land, fair grazing land, good fresh water, good salvage, good ruins. HOWEVER: Lots of Bandits, lots of Cannibals.
[]Midwest - Good wood, good arable land, good grazing land, good fresh water, lots of salvage, few large ruins. HOWEVER: Hordes of Bandits, many cannibals.

You and your people moved out into the...

[]Woods (+Defense, +Camouflage, -Farming)
[]Fields (-Defense, -Camouflage, +Farming, +Early Warning)
[]Mountains (+Defense, -Camouflage, -Farming, +Early Warning)
[]Riverbank (+Defense, -Camouflage, +Farming, +Trade)

Some of you were... (pick two)

[]SCA Medieval Re-enactors (Four free Melee and Ranged instructors (Ranged instructors are also Fletchers))
[]Hobbyist Blacksmiths (Enables more advanced construction and trade goods from the start, two Journeymen and one Master Blacksmith are among your number)
[]Park Rangers (Better understanding of your surrounding area)
[]Cooks (Improved morale from food)
[]Farmers (Better harvest, unlock tech Till the Earth for free)
[]Cowboys (Better control and protection of Herds, plus two Mounted instructors)
[]Managers (Improved organization - better usage of resources (resource requirement reduction))
[]Master Carpenters/Journeyman Architects (Improves construction quality - buildings last longer/resist damage; Two free members of each profession)

But now that you've settled down and run up a Town Hall and a rude barricade around your new village, what do you name it?

I'm not gonna lie, I'm glad to see you running a quest, oh favored of the dice.

Going to also need a 1d60 roll for initial villager number!

EDIT: Can we, er, reroll? Because that was kinda a sucky roll....
The Bird threw 1 60-faced dice. Reason: Villagers Total: 5

Negative, Ghost Rider! :p

We'll just have to see what you all's plans and the dice do to your numbers.

Waiting for another vote or two before I close the vote.

Solid resources, sure there are hostiles, but there's counters to them, and loot..

[X]Woods (+Defense, +Camouflage, -Farming)

Stealth and defense makes this a pretty good option, when there's any risk of encountering hostiles. Not as much food, but the territory chosen compensates.

Improved combat ability to deal with early enemies, and making more efficient use of resources pays off in a survival scenario.

SB's server runs on the equivalent of a toaster. It was top of the line...in 1998. Seriously Xeon processor.

The new Xeons are still good.

Anyway, it looks like we've finally got two people agreeing on the town's name, so if no one upsets that then I'll edit the OP with the town's stats in the morning.

Did you get the idea for this quest from the t.v. show Revolution? It literally is the same premise.
