I'm more curious if there's a bug in Architect's stuff. Either that or as noted by someone before, there's really a mole in place. Which still goes back to being bugged.

Or maybe these ones aren't part of G&K. Maybe. I'm not really well-versed in GFL lore and I don't plan on doing so anytime soon despite GFL 2 being out and about... :V

[X] Capture her if you can!
-[X] But absolutely do not let her escape!

[X] Be careful!
-[X] But not so careful you let her escape!

[X] No doll escapes, no intel leaks.

Mustn't let G&K learn from their mistakes.

The team must have some backup plans since our base in deep in our territory. So we must be very careful.

Sometimes plan B is simply that the entire team is expendable. At most they may have planted some c4 somewhere inconvenient but this kind of infiltration operation does not leave much flex room for stretch goals or contingency plans more complex than an escape route and some breaching charges.

you know, we might actually wanna sleep in the same room as our bodyguard after this, Either that or under a pile of drones. If they tried once they might try again.
Gager left a Like on your post.

hold on, setting question. Do we actually need to sleep?
Some downtime is needed periodically, but it doesn't have to be deep sleep and it doesn't have to happen daily. Architect simply noticed this schedule is beneficial for her creativity somehow. And before you ask, she refuses to work 24/7, even to complete more requests.

Next order of business, find a new room, the location is compromised
It's also a bit devastated by the rocket explosion, so yeah, the owner will be moving out.

[X] Be careful!

This is probably that squad that deletes memories from their allies or something like that.

Chapter 27
[X] Capture her if you can!

You estimate the enemy T-Doll outside can't last 20 seconds with the number of your troops bearing down on her, even less if you order to prioritize faster elimination over troops preservation. Bringing Gager into the equation doesn't accomplish anything, unless...

"Capture her if you can!"

A flicker of confusion crosses Gager's face. She nods, grabs a flashbang from the headless body, and disappears into your bedroom. You order the troops inside to secure the downed invaders and search for the handcuff key, and turn your attention to a feed from the UAV that has just arrived at the scene. The enemy is frantically trying to break off, not able to hold her own against the ever increasing number of your troops.
When the stun grenade flies out of the window and lands at her feet, she turns to look directly at it just in time to see it go off into her face. She lurches back, covering her eyes. Gager is already falling down on her like a falcon, deploying her energy blade mid-air and slicing the enemy's weapon in two before even touching the ground. Her three-point landfall swiftly transitions into a sweeping kick that brings the enemy down, and next moment Gager is pressing her knee into the back of the helpless T-Doll, twisting her arm and pushing her head into the dirt.

The abduction attempt has been foiled.

Freed from the handcuffs, you are left to your own devices. Gager is busy handling the prisoner, your troops are going over the workshop and adjacent area with a fine-toothed comb. You return to your bedroom for damage assessment. It's mostly intact, aside from shattered glass, scorched walls and debris everywhere. Not a place you'd want to sleep in. You squint, send an order to prepare another room, and direct your attention to the fallen invaders.

Here's the one who walked into your rocket. You step over her separated lower half and smaller pieces to approach the upper torso.
Damn, that gun of hers is huge! You pick it up to get a closer look. It appears to be a pistol that weights about 6 kilos, loaded with... no way! A full-sized .50 BMG, the honest-to-god heavy machine gun cartridge! How does it even fire without mangling her wrists? The bullet looks unusual too. This is...
For real? It's a freaking saboted round featuring tungsten carbide sub-caliber penetrator! You whistle and look at the dead enemy with a newfound respect. Few weapons pack enough punch to bring down a Ringleader with a single hit, and you're not sure this one does, but you absolutely wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of such a monstrosity. Praise the circuits your rocket found its mark before she had a chance to point it in your direction!

You move to the one who refused to go down, forcing you to use your launcher as a mace.
A shotgun, heavy body armor, night vision goggles. She looks thin, fragile, but was really tough. Not your grade of toughness, but a decent attempt to close the gap. Your decisiveness, along with the alarm lights trick, became her downfall.

And finally the assailant decapitated by Gager.
Her weapon, a machine gun, has an over-sized muzzle brake. She was probably overwatching the staircase behind the corner, that's why you didn't see her right away. She moved in when the other two went down, and totally outclassed you in unarmed combat. Maybe you should ask Alchemist for some basic training.

Alright, your own after-action report is now complete. Except... why did you wake up moments before the attack? There's nothing in your memory that suggest the infiltrators betrayed their presence in any way. Maybe you should look into it. You shudder at the thought of how the situation could have developed if they actually managed to get the drop on you while you were asleep.

You're having an early-morning tea hangout with Gager while your personnel is busy cleaning, repairing and overall dealing with the aftermath of the night adventure. If Intruder is your friend, then Gager is the closest thing you have to family. Officially she's your adjutant who doubles as a long-term bodyguard. She's looking at you with a mixture of amazement and fondness.

"So, remind me why had I been hiding in your basement all this time?"

"To appear out of nowhere like a hero of justice and rescue me from the clutches of evil?"— you try. Those were the Mastermind's orders, not yours. She sighs.

"It didn't look like you needed my assistance. You could have handled it yourself."

"Maybe, but it's just how things played out this time. See, it's because of you that I don't have a single scratch! And capturing one of them on my own was out of the question."

She considers your words for a second, looking at the cup in her hands.

"When did you become such a badass combatant, anyway?"

"Hmm, I wonder..."— you think back on what happened. "I kind of made good decisions and everything worked out?" You smile. "I'm just that smart!"

Gager snorts and shakes her head.

"To be honest, I was worried about you. Being smart can get you through a lot, but..."— she gives you a serious look— "even the smartest must be strong when the chips are down." She pauses, then her gaze softens. "Looks like my worries were all for nothing."

"Aw, thanks! But I still need you by my side, you hear? Now that you don't have to hide anymore, I'm going to work you really hard!"

"Finally, you can't imagine how bored I was! Your orders?"

You think on what you can delegate to your trusty aide.

"I'd like you to do a post-mortem of this incident, figure out who were they, how did they get so close and what lessons we can learn."— Gager nods. "Also handle the prisoner, would you? Get some info out of her, I want to know why they were here and how they knew so much about this place. We can talk about it tomo... today after I finish my current assignment."

"Will do. Anything else?"

"Actually, yes." You smile and touch her shoulder. "Welcome back, Gager."

Her smile is warm and comforting.

"It's good to be back, Architect."

The tea party is finished, and you consider your schedule for the day. You've got some time before Judge arrives, and you can't advance the assignment any further without her. How will you spend it?

[] Interrogate the prisoner with Gager
[] Look into what made you wake up
[] Call Alchemist for some hand-to-hand training in virtual space

We need to know how we gained prescience, we can interrogate the prisoner another time and
i dont think that hand-to-hand is vital for us right now.

[X] Look into what made you wake up

Gager has a point, Archi was surprisingly badass for someone who, as far as I know, had never been in a fight her entire existence. Sure, physical specs count for something, but that could have gone a lot worse.
