    The book your grandmother left you opened portals into distant worlds and distant times. Calling forth spirits and demons, some too alien for the human mind to comprehend.

    You had caught glimpses of the sunken continents of Atlantis and Lemuria. The fabled kingdom of Shambala, and the mythical valley of Shangri-La. Egypt before the pyramids, and Sumer when it was new.

    You had found yourself lost in the mists of Avalon. The legendary Island of Apples, believed by some to be the final resting place of a noble king. You had been mesmerized by the Baghdad of Caliph Harun al-Rashid. The greatest city that ever was or ever will be, but now only existed in the province of dreams.

    You had heard the call of Tír na nÓg, where the Aos Sí still sang and danced in flowery meadows, untouched by the passage of time. Their songs invited you to join them as if you were their lost kin.

    But when you touched the book now, you found yourself in present-day England instead.




    "Liverpool?" You recognized the city even though you had never been there. It was raining there, even though it was completely dry where you stood back in Annwyn City.

    You saw a working-class neighborhood. Garbage lying on the streets. Graffiti on every wall.

    A blond man in his late thirties was walking alone in the night. He had a lit cigarette in his mouth and seemed unconcerned by the pouring rain. But his demeanor changed, once he felt the book calling to him.

    "Fuck!" He muttered a curse and hastily tried to draw a protective circle to stop himself from being drawn into the portal, but the pull was too strong for him to resist.


    You opened your eyes, once the vision ended, and saw the blond man standing in front of you in the park in Annwyn City. He looked more tired than angry at being pulled halfway across the world.

    "Kid, do you have any idea what you are doing?" He asked you in an exasperated voice.

    [] Not really.
    [] I'm doing my best, okay?
    [] I'm trying to be a hero, and make the shittiest city in America a little less shitty.

    Our summons gets stronger each time they are summoned for what it is worth. So it is not like he isn't getting something out of this.

    Is that John Constantine I see? If it is, than this isn't the strangest situation that he has been in. Probably isn't his first alternate Earth either.
