[X] You both have good points, volkites truly are unfeasible to maintain across the whole legion due to their cost and complexity of maintenance/production. However, bolters do have logistics problem due to their use of solid ammo and lack the sheer killing powers of a volkite. It would be more pragmatic to equip all new battle brothers ie the majority with bolter weapons and all veterans and sergeants/commanders with volkite weapons thus maintaining a sustainable amount of volkite weapons without running into cost troubles. Also best to have more than one way to kill the enemy as volkites are not a one weapon fit all anyways.

Screw a compromise, that's small enough for widespread Volkite use.

[X] He sides with the older Legionary, emphasizing that volkite weaponry is indeed the more logistically beneficial, before having both Legionary's scrub the inside of the ships waste filter for the rest of the trip.

they are arguing for the future when presumably their numbers will reach the other legions numbers

Logistics is also about the big picture and Bolters are easier to mass produce for a galactic scale astartes both are right but their going about it the wrong way

The recruits argument is that once their Primarch is found and the Legion really begins growing that they will no longer have the industrial capacity to mass produce volkite for the entire Legion.
 
Come on guys, 10,000 is small enough to handle Volkite. Don't underestimate the nightmares of the Great Crusade, and above all don't fall for the desire to make everyone happy.

Is there a way for us to request our full allotment of volkite weaponry, similar to the other legions, not for us but instead to stockpile, so that we could slowly build up an armory while we transition to bolters?

You'd need to come up with a really good explanation as to why you would be hoarding so many volkites for storage when the other Legions could be using them.
 
So, both have a valid point, Volkite weapons are great agents biological, and light armored foes, IE hoed armies, vs bolsters that may be more adaptable, also suffer from having to rely on solid ammo, vs the energy volkite. That and volkite wepons can just straight up ignore cover. So it is best to use them depending on the situation. That and get the Volkite STC on lock down so we can manufacture them no matter what.

Also armored Orks and enemy tanks VOlkite is GREAT against stuff like tyranids but a lot of xenos empires are going to have armor and crap since the xenos aside from rangdan are the very few who survived to 40k

The best course is the compromise of Elites get them while the unproven stick to Bolters

Do you have any idea the sheer cost and ancient technology needed to make them they are more expensive than a heavy plasma gun

volkites work against power armored foes as well, look at the guy at the lower right

Personally I'm inclined to just go for Bolters because I like them and the sounds they make but I'd rather dedicate then try and make a compromise.

Compromises have their place but I like the surety and straightforwardness on our logistics of either option.
