From Zero to Hero!
I had jumped over the zombie but slipped once I landed on the ground, falling face first to a corpse as I-

I snapped my eyes open, and I woke from the dream. Looking around I was in some kind of dark void, though for some strange reason I could see myself perfectly fine.

"You have been chosen", said a voice from my side.

Looking around I noticed for the first time the light, and I could see 「Him」.

At his waist there was a blood stained shroud, blood was soaked from his sides marking the many lashes that were certainly present on his back. On his feet and hands there were marks of nails being run through them, on his head there was a crown of thorns. I couldn't quite see his face or distinguish much of him, but it was clear who he was.

And I was terrified of the implications.

"I-I", I stammered, and couldn't talk further.

"Wash your sins in the 「baptism of fire」, where your true self will be tested. Do not fear, however, for I had not chosen if I didn't knew you were 「capable」."

Still terrified for my life, I nodded.

"Seek the 「corpse parts」 and save the world."

A bright light filled me, and I woke up once more.

[ ]Near the docks of a coastal city, and I could smell the 「oppression」 and 「hopelessness」 permeating the air (Hard mode)
[ ]「Fire」, fire everywhere. Buildings, people, the ground is on fire. A corrosive, 「evil」 feeling emanates from the flames. (Normal mode)
[ ]To a chilly forest of conifers. It's very cold compared with my country of origin, almost like it's 「winter」. (Easy mode)

1 - The Cold Forest, Part 1
The first thing I notice once waking up is the cold. I started shivering and opened my eyes, seeing myself being surrounded by a forest of conifers. While there was no snow, I felt like I was freezing. It was the end of summer back at home, but this is ridiculous. Where did I got dropped into?

Looking at myself I saw that I was wearing a t-shirt and some sweater pants and nothing more. There was nothing in my pockets and I wasn't even wearing any shoes.

Fan-fucking-tastic.

Head east and try to find civilization.

2 - The Cold Forest, Part 2
I walked and walked, using that old trick to find where east was by using the sun as a reference.

It was cold, too cold for my tropical sensibilities, and soon I started sneezing and chattering my teeth. I tried to get myself warm by rubbing my arms, but it wasn't enough for me to actually feel better. Still, I persevered.

~~O~~

I didn't knew exactly how long I was walking, only that by the position of the sun it was quite a bit. I think I will definitely catch a cold after this, and since I have no idea where I am that might prove itself lethal. There were other more immediate problems to take into account however.

First I was hungry, it was already quite a few hours since I had dinner and while it's not immediately fatal, it would be a major distraction to me. Second, I was thirsty but I think I can endure a couple of hours more without that being too bothersome. I was also shaking, both from the cold and the walking.

Of course, there was another problem that was much more pressing. Namely, I was being trailed by wolves.

They weren't doing much yet, probably thinking that attacking a larger foe is unwise, or it was some other hunting tactic I didn't knew off. Either way I was being trailed by wolves in a forest with no one nearby, no sign of roads or habitation as far as I could see.

~~O~~

I ran and ran and ran, until I turned around and kicked one of the wolves in the face as hard as I could, before doing my best to dodge another one coming after me, grabbing it at the neck and with as much strength and fury as I could muster I tried to snap his neck.

*thump thump*

The sweet sound of bones cracking was simply wonderful, but sadly another wolf bit into my leg and I had to shake it off by blinding it with my hands, making the animal whimper in pain as it raw away. The last wolf I had avoided growled at me and I meet it's growl with one of my own, before it jumped at me. With a powerful punch I managed to hit it under the jaw and in an instant I was on top of it grabbing at it's neck, before once more snapping it.

Tired, bleeding, hungry and thirsty, only now I realized that I not only didn't panic at the sight of the wolves coming after me, but I fought without hesitation. My own demons and fears had been cast aside for that single, glorious moment.

If I weren't so fucking tired I would have whooped in joy.

~~O~~

Once more I continued my walk towards east, and couldn't find anyone or any sign of civilization. The adrenaline run that warmed me up earlier had already faded, and wounds were starting to hurt at this point.

I tripped on a loose rock, hitting the ground face first. I tried to stand up once more but I was too tired, mentally, at least.

... would this be how I die? In the middle of nowhere away from my family? Giving them the satisfaction of confirmation that I was merely a worthless failure.

Tears of pain started to run through my cheeks, as I slammed my fist on the ground in frustration.

"No...", I whispered, "I'm not going to die like this. Not after just arriving. I am capable, aren't I? Then let's see how capable I am! I, I'm not going to just roll over and die, do you hear me!" It was both an oath and a cry for help.

*thump thump*

Only a pack of wolves answered me.

"I have to... do something", I said as I started standing up, suddenly the cold, the fatigue, the injuries, the hunger and thirst coming all together to hammer at my determination. "I'm not going to die on the fucking tutorial!"

*THUMP THUMP*

A wolf came towards my throat and I grabbed it with my two hands, once more blinding the mutt before throwing it away as the next one came. A kick to it's face it was spinning away from me but another one had came from behind and bit into my good ankle, before another one bit into my arm. Quickly blinding the one on my arm before doing the same with the one on my leg, I rolled to avoid a last wolf coming at my family jewels.

"You need to do better than that!!!"

*THUMP THUMP*

A pair of ghostly arms appeared from my side, shuffling some kind of card deck before pulling one card. It was...

3 - The Cold Forest, Part 3
It's the card of The Sun.

Instantly I felt my surroundings start to warm, and the late evening/almost night sky became bright as if it was in the middle of the day. Up above me I saw a glowing yellow disk that reminded me of the sun, though much larger than what usually appears on the sky. Of course that's because it's much closer to me on the sky.

I had more or less an idea on what to do from now on, so I quickly turned tail and started to run. The rest of the wolves were about to start coming after me, but instead were caught in rays of light piercing them. Lasers instead of rays of plasma from the looks of it. I managed to down and kill all the following wolves, before I stopped running.

That was somewhat anti-climatic, but then again I was dealing with mere animals. Once more I looked up, and I was almost surprised by the fact that my eyes weren't burning with the light and heat, and looking more closely I could see that the ball of fire on the sky looked kind of... blurred? Shadowed?

Like it's entity is partway hidden by a curtain.

Still I breathed a sigh of relief at that. I had a suspicion that was my Stand, but not? I clearly remember the ghost arms shuffling a card deck before taking a card.

4 - The Cold Forest, Part 4
I started limping towards east once more. I could still see the real sun on the horizon, so it was easy to get a rough approximation of my path.

Not only that but with the Sun active I had plenty of sunlight and an active defense after me. It didn't automatically target my enemies like I thought, but rather shoot scattershots in the general direction of the things I wanted dead.

As I walked I experimented a bit, and found out that I could do individual shots at a certain target, but the accuracy beyond 'single target' became more or less random. I couldn't indefinitely scorch a single path of land or the same piece of tree bark, but the spread of the shots was about ten to twenty centimeters from my expected target. It was oddly accurate when I wanted a certain individual shot however, when it managed to hit a small pebble I lay on the ground.

The damage potential of each shot ranged in intensity from low caliber gun to anti-armor weaponry, though the stronger shots need to be charged in order to deal it's damage, but once charged I could shoot up to ten laser attacks at once. The rate of fire was quite low for a stand, but it made up for it with larger volume of fire on the less stronger settings.

I could also control how hot the Stand became, being able to dial it up and down to some degree, though it always stayed at least mildly warm, and the changes in temperature were gradual.

I also found something else that I'm not sure appeared on the manga or the anime. Basically I could feel things nearby, though that wasn't exactly a good choice of words. It's like seeing with a different sense the nearby area, but this sight was blurry enough that I can't make out details further than 'that's a tree' or 'I'm here'. Very useful in the future, but not relevant until someone comes in to figure out why there's a second sun in the sky.

Hmm... I wonder if people can see the second sun or only stand users can see the actual disk. Food for thought.

~~O~~

Some time later I could see a small party coming after me. I couldn't properly distinguish rider from mount so they looked really strange to my senses.

Now, how to deal with this scouting party?

On one hand I can hide and watch to see if they can actually see the stand, after all you would try to figure out where all that light came from. On the other hand I could simply ask for help since I am injured, lost, hungry and thirsty.

I pondered those options for a while until the choice was taken from my hand, mostly due to me standing dumbly with indecision while they arrived. I really need to stamp out that bad habit of mine.

"Hail!" Said one of the braver riders, "Who goes there?"

Quick, think of something cool! First impressions are important!

"Er... me? Hmm, hi?"

Damn it!

"Who are you stranger?" He tried once more seeing I had fucked that one up.

Taking a deep breath I introduced myself. "My name is... John Joester", I said, mangling the name a bit. Since I don't have the infamous star birthmark on my back I can't really claim the Joestar name, right? "I'm kind of lost."

He looked me over, seeing how underdressed I was. "I can see that", he said dryly. "Do you know what's going on here, with two suns in the sky?"

I couldn't help but fidget. "I don't know? Look, I'm injured, hungry, thirsty and tired. Can I get a ride back to civilization with you guys? When I mentioned I'm lost I really meant it, as in 'I have no idea in what continent I am' level of lost."

"... you're on the North", he said carefully, "where else could you be?"

"See, there's plenty of north's out there, that doesn't narrow things down to me."

"Westeros? In the Seven Kingdoms? Near Winterfell? Are you feebleminded or something?"

Oh.

Oooooohhh!

"Sorry", I said scratching the back of my neck, "usually I'm not nearly this lost. That does tell me where am I, but that doesn't change the fact that I have no idea where I am. The forest near Winterfell is pretty big after all."

"Look", he said in disgust, "just... we will give you a ride to Winterfell since we're near. You can threat your wounds there and have some supper."

"Thanks!" I gratefully said, "that's really nice of you all."

"We're just going to scout the nearby region a little bit to figure out what's going on here then we will head to Winterfell."

I waited for them to be done, standing near one of the riders. It took somewhere between five to ten minutes (I think, I don't have a watch with me) for them to figure out that nothing else but me was in the vicinity, or they simply thought it was too much of a bother to continue searching the notably wide area my Stand illuminated. Range A baby!

Still once I got on the horse, and wasn't that an embarrassing event when I tried and failed to get into it several times, I deactivated my stand, letting the second sun disappear from the sky.

Well, I said deactivated but it wasn't exactly what happened, the stand coming back to my body or just fading away like a normal stand. Instead the SUN shrunk back into a card and flew back to me, where a pair of ghostly arms grabbed it mid air.

I don't know exactly why, but I felt like I understood more or less the nature of my stand.

I shall name it 「Tarot」, since it can summon famous stands look alike for myself, in homage to the first few stands being named by the Major Arcana of the tarot.

The riders were startled by the sudden disappearance of the second SUN, except my own rider. He just gave a glance to me before continuing his march towards civilization.

Guess the chances of me being annonimous was shot in it's infancy.

Still, who needs to be annonimous? If I wanted to make a difference in this world I need to make a big impact on it, and besides there were several corpse parts to find. Speaking of which, I pulled my shirt over and looked at my chest.

For a moment it was just the ugly thing right above my fat belly, until something started to show itself near my heart. It was the 「Heart」, probably what gave me this potentially broken and utterly uncreative ability. Wasn't Funny Valentine D4C a product from the 「Heart」, or did he simply got his stand from the mysterious desert like so many others?

Either way it's a moot point, as I would eventually leave this forest even if I had to endure more cold. At least I would be away from this stupid forest.
