In a world where Earth has been destroyed and its inhabitants transported to the universe of Ragnarok, a young Chemist begins his journey as a novice in the prosperous city of Einbroch. Determined to become a powerful creator, he discovers that alchemy goes beyond formulas and potions, revealing secrets that could change the balance of power. As he explores new possibilities and faces unexpected challenges, he struggles to master his destiny in a chaotic universe full of mysteries.
Chapter 1: Between Memories and Reality
I woke up in a sea of confused voices, surrounded by people who were just as lost as I was. The only memory that still echoed in my mind was the image of a city-sized meteor crashing down on Earth.

When I looked down at my clothes, a flash of familiarity enveloped me, as if I were wearing something I had once worn in a distant dream. The atmosphere around me was vibrant, with vivid colors and the sounds of conversation that seemed to echo throughout the place. Looking around, I realized that I was in a city that was strangely familiar to me.

I decided to take a long walk through the city, trying to understand if I had really died and if this was, in fact, the afterlife. What caught my attention was that, as I walked, I began to recognize the city.

It was like a scene taken from a game I had loved as a child: Ragnarok Online. The people around me murmured questions that reflected my own astonishment. "What are all these people?", "Where did they suddenly appear from?" The atmosphere of confusion was palpable.

When I looked to the side, my eyes fell on a banner that read: "Welcome to the City of Einbroch." At that moment, it dawned on me. I was in Rune-Midgard, a realm of Ragnarok.

The shock paralyzed me for a moment. My mind raced, trying to make sense of what I was seeing. Could it really be? Maybe it was all a dream, but the possibility loomed over me - if Earth was truly gone, was this world now our new home? Had everyone who died been transported here too? The thought unsettled me, lingering at the edge of my mind, refusing to leave.

The memory of how Ragnarok had inspired my life came flooding back. The Creator class had been a source of motivation that led me to become a chemist, specializing in the field. The memories of my previous life mixed with the reality of the moment. What would it be like to be part of this world?

Walking through the streets of Einbroch, I could feel the industrial pulse of the city. Huge factories exhaled smoke, while merchants advertised their wares on every corner.

As I weaved through the crowds, my gaze landed on a man leaning against a wooden post. He held a worn sign that read, "Want to become an adventurer? Talk to me." He looked tired but alert, scanning the passing faces with the practiced ease of someone used to sizing people up.

When our eyes met, he straightened up, giving me a nod and a half-smile. "Looking to get started in the adventurer life?" he asked, his tone casual but with the unmistakable trace of someone who'd had this conversation too many times. "You'll find lots of opportunities in this line of work, I can help you get an idea of how it goes."

Upon accepting, the guide began to explain to me what I needed to know before embarking on an adventure. He talked about the level system, how to collect items, and the need to equip yourself properly. "You're a apprentice now, it's great to have a new adventurer among us." he said.

He explained that once I reached level 40, I could choose a class—Alchemist, Swordsman, Mage, and so on. Each class would have unique skills and responsibilities. The guide also mentioned simple quests I could take to gain experience and items, such as collecting materials from local monsters or helping out NPCs in town.

Among his explanations, he highlighted important areas to explore, such as the Payon Pampas, Payon Swamp, and Payon Cave. These regions offered valuable opportunities to hunt monsters and gather items. He emphasized the importance of learning to trade with merchants and selling the items collected for resources.

The guide warned me about the dangers that lurked in the world: stronger monsters, bandits, and the need to always be aware of my surroundings. Finally, he explained about the Kafra system, which allowed me to store items and was extremely useful for managing resources during adventures.

However, as he spoke, an unexpected boredom washed over me. I already knew most of information he was sharing, there weren't many changes compared to the game.

When I finally finished all that chatter, the guide asked me to write my name on a piece of metal that looked like magic. "From now on, this will be your identification," he said, as I pondered what name I would choose. After thinking about it, I remembered my previous name in the game, Azoth, which was a reference to alchemy. With a smile, I wrote my name on the metal. But then, he charged me 100 zeny.

As soon as I finished the adventurer's guild, I decided to take a look at my inventory. To my surprise, in addition to the usual cotton shirt and a knife, I had 1,000 zeny. I paid the guide the required amount and told him I would come back later to pick up some quests.

After that, I left the adventurer's guild. I could have picked up some quests and set out on a journey, but I needed to get my bearings and set my goals. I still needed to understand the limitations of this place. Would everything be the same as the game, like a simulation, or were there scalable elements to what was happening here?

As I walked out onto the street, I noticed that many people were panicking. For Earthlings, who were not used to isekai stories, dealing with a situation like this was difficult. There were cries, desperate children, and old people in shock.

I was 37 years old in my past life, but now I look 20 years old instead, with a body very unlike my past life's.

Continuing to walk, I passed several shops and merchants trading in the square. Despite the tension in the air, the locals didn't seem to care much about what had happened. Some welcomed us, trying to calm those who were panicking, while others simply ignored the situation. It was then that I saw the alchemy shop and a wave of nostalgia washed over me. I went in, curious to know if the ways of creating potions were still the same as in the game.

Upon entering the store, I was greeted by a familiar scene. There were alchemists and people trading manuals and books. I went to the "menu" on the table and saw the same books as in the game: Alchemy Manuals Vol. 1, 2 and 3, the simplest ones. I asked the salesman, a man with a long beard and balding on the sides, who appeared to be about 50 years old: "Sir, are these the only volumes you have? Where are the others?"

The salesman looked me up and down with an expression of disdain. "Durarara! Boy, you're not even an alchemist yet and you're already talking about volumes after 3? You still can't learn even the first one. We can talk about volumes 2 and 3 later."

The salesman gave me a shrewd look, assessing me. However, with no intention of selling anything at that moment, he spoke in a firm voice, "Kid, what's your name?"

"Azoth," I replied immediately.

He continued, "My name is Benner. I'll be blunt. We don't handle volumes above 3 here; they're expensive and rare. Those looking for something more, whether for large-scale trade or forging battle-worthy weapons, don't waste time here."

"This city is a place for rats who want crumbs, who need to venture out in search of items to make their potions. Alchemists or real creators buy and make their potions to resell to the great clans. This filth and stench of this city is garbage for the aristocracy."

It was just as I imagined. Before, when I played, I was a very sought-after player. My guild loved me because I contributed potions and was an excellent weapon of war. I was also a great strategist in the Imperium wars.

Now, it seemed clear that I could not remain in this city for long. It's time to start developing myself and focusing on the pursuit of Alchemist Class, one that I knew well from the game. I would need to learn how to produce potions that, with luck, would earn me a small fortune.

"I understand, sir. I'll be a great creator in the future. Remember my name whenever I come back here to buy ingredients for my potions. You'll profit a lot from me."

"That's what I wanted to hear from you, kid! Good luck on your journey. Look for Rankor in the city; that way, you'll see the ranking of the greatest creators, both in the city and in the world, and you can make friends with people of your class, which will make it easier to exchange ingredients. And a bit of gossip: in Morroc, the number 1 in the global ranking gained a unique ability to create new types of potions. There are rumors that he's going to create a new volume of the potion creation manual in the world. This will turn the creation methods upside down!"

I left the alchemy shop with a question in my head. The number one in the alchemy ranking could have the ability to create new potions, but also new, different ingredients. Could I use the methods of my world to create new weapons for war? 'No way,' I thought, 'if all the people who died on Earth were brought here, I don't think it'll take 20 years for us to have a bunch of rifles and trench warfare here.'

I don't believe everyone was brought here. Although I saw many in this city, I couldn't put a number on it, as it seemed like they were all teleported randomly.

After that interesting conversation with Benner and several tourist attractions in the city of Einbroch, I began to feel very sleepy. I thought I would never need to sleep in this world, but to my surprise, I was really tired. With 900 zeny left in my account, I began to wonder: would it be possible to find a room to rest in an inn? If the prices were too high, I would have to settle for sleeping on the street, which was not a very encouraging prospect.

I soon spotted a few inns and entered the simplest one. As soon as I walked through the door, I was greeted by a woman on the other side of the counter, dressed in maid's clothes. She looked at me with a friendly smile and said: "Hello, I am the Kafra of this inn. Do you want a room or do you want to use the storage service?"

"How much does a room cost?" I asked.

"It costs 300 zeny a day and includes the use of the storage service for the entire day of your stay. If you choose not to use the service, the room costs 100 zeny, and each time you need the storage, you pay 40 zeny, which is 10 zeny less than the Kafra down the street."

It wasn't as expensive as I thought. The possibility of using the storage several times during my stay made the accommodation a good deal. After thinking about it for a moment, I decided to pay only for the accommodation service and ended up with 800 zeny. A good night's sleep awaited me, and tomorrow I would begin a journey full of ambitions.

Chapter 2: The Beginning of the Journey
I woke up in the morning, stretched, took a shower, and got ready to go to the Adventurer's Guild. Today, my goal is to take on my first quest. While I get ready, I think about which quest would be ideal for me. Since I'm alone and still at level 1, it would be risky to face monsters. At my level, any monster could be a danger depending on how different things are here compared to the game.

I also need to consider the issue of death. Maybe there's no rebirth after dying here. Although I have access to my attributes and items in a "virtual" way, everything feels very real. I feel my body whole, I can feel pain, so it's essential that I don't take risks to my life until I confirm that.

If I'm not the only former Ragnarok Online player that reincarnated into this world, then there'll be multiple people abusing the knowledge from the game to develop more efficiently than the natives of this world.

I left my room and went to talk to the Kafra. "Hello, how was your stay, Mr. Azoth?" she said politely.

"It was a great night's sleep," I replied.

"That's great! Would you like to reserve the room for tomorrow, Mr. Azoth?"

It makes perfect sense to book the room, since I have no other place to sleep. If this inn, which is the simplest, is full, I will have to pay more at another one. "Yes, please book it for me for the next 7 days. It's almost all the money I have. By the way, what's your name, miss Kafra?"

She smiled again. "My name is Tayla, and it's a pleasure to have you as a guest, Mr. Azoth."

"The pleasure is mine. I'll be going now then, see you later."

"Have a great day." And so, I continued my way towards the Adventurers' Guild.

As I walked through the streets, I noticed that everything was different from before. Some "newcomers" were still confused, trying to accept what was happening. It will take a while for everyone to adapt. This world is fascinating, but it is far from the technological level and comfort we had on Earth.

When I arrived at the Adventurers Guild, I noticed that there were a lot of people there. Different from last time. I approached the receptionist and said: "Hello, miss. I came to pick up my first quest to begin my journey as an adventurer."

She looked at me and, after a pause, looked around as if something was strange. I insisted: "Madam, can you show me the available quests?"

She rested her chin on her fingers and asked, "Did you come alone?"

"Yes, why?"

"Well, it'll be a bit difficult to find a good quest for you."

"Why?"

"With the large influx of new inhabitants, there were few quests left. We had a record number of adventurers signing up, many of them inexperienced and willing to take on high-level quests. So we had to impose some rules for the adventurers."

I had expected something like this. Did I make a mistake by not taking a quest yesterday? "What's available for me?" I asked.

"On the board, you'll find F, E, and D rank quests. With the arrival of the new adventurers, we changed the rules. This is being implemented universally after the incident."

If even a portion of the people from Earth came here, our arrival here has likely had a very significant impact on the people of this world. Considering the size of that asteroid, it's very hard to believe anyone survived. Then, what if everyone was brought here?

"The rules work like this", the receptionist said, making me focus on her again. "F-rank quests, which usually involve killing Porings and collecting items, require at least two F or G-rank adventurers. For E-rank quests, three members are required, with at least one of them being E-rank. D-rank quests require four members, with two of them being D-rank. However, there are still several G-rank quests left, simple tasks that can be done alone. They ended up being left over because no one seems very interested. Are you interested in those?"

I definitely made a mistake by not taking a quest yesterday. With the increase in adventurers, they found a way to distribute the quests. "Yes, can I see them?"

She soon gave me a list with the G-rank quests, and one in particular caught my attention: Collect healing herbs in the field close to the city.

These herbs were the items weak monsters simply callled "Plant" would drop.

From the guild info, Plants were just like in the game: No matter how weak one was, all that was needed to defeat a Plant was to hit them 10 times. Also, they only deal 1 point damage with each attack, which are pretty slow.

With my initial HP of 50, I could tank 50 of their attacks, so I should be able to defeat quite a few of them.

The quest was also perfect for me since I could use these herbs to make HP and SP potions from the Alchemy Manual Volume 1. Although I hadn't read the manuals in this world, I remembered the formulas I used in the game very clearly, which would give me a good head start.

The G-rank quest required me to collect 4 red herbs, 2 yellow herbs, and 2 green herbs. I had 3 days to complete the collection and the reward would be 120 Zeny. It's a small amount, but considering that the lodging costs 100 Zeny, I would still have 20 Zeny to survive as long as I managed to complete it in a day, which I was pretty confident I could.

The first few days will be tough, but as I level up, things will get better. I chose the G-rank quest. "Here you go. When you complete the quest, we'll also add points to your adventurer score, so you'll be able to take on higher-level quests."

After leaving the guild, I decided to have a nice meal before heading out on the quests. The receptionist handed me a map with the locations of the Plants I needed to defeat for the herbs. She mentioned that it is a nice quest since there are Plants on the outskirts of Einbroch, and I wouldn't need to take portals or travel far to complete it.

After walking for a few minutes, I reached the entrance to the city. There were some heavily armed guards and a line of merchants entering. I didn't stop to observe, I continued towards the outskirts to look for the Plants. After a while, I managed to find a Red Plant. I took out my knife and prepared for combat.

It was pretty easy in the end. I landed the 10 hits needed to defeat the plant, but I took 4 damage in total, leaving me with 46 HP. It attacked me with what seemed to be its arm, which turned into spikes when it touched me.

I continued hunting the Plants for the rest of the day and, by the end, I had collected what I needed to complete the quest. Monsters were way rarer than in the game, so I spent 8 hours hunting the 32 Plants, which got me exhausted and hungry. I managed to reach level 3 and, as I expected, my HP and SP were fully recovered after each levle up. Now, I just wanted to go back and rest.

I opened my inventory and checked the items I had, there were quite a few items. In addition to the items needed to make potions, I found other items that I could sell and earn a good amount of money, and many of them that I could use to make cooking items that give some important buff. But one of these items, a herb called "Mint", seemed promising. If I'm not mistaken, it is used to make painkillers and can activate the Vigor skill. I need to go to the market to find out how much the Mint is worth.

On the way back, I was torn between going straight to the adventurers' guild to turn in the quest or leaving it for the next day. I was very tired, but I didn't want to put it off, so I decided to head to the guild.

I reached it when it was almost night, and there weren't many people there. I was looking very exhausted as I went up to the receptionist, so when she saw me, she waved and asked: "Hello, was it a tiring day?"

I replied, leaning against the counter: "Yes, quite, but I managed to complete the quest. Here it is."

"Not bad for a first quest. We usually give a deadline of 3 days because of the difficulty of finding these plants, but you have done well." She praised. "Here is your reward, 120 Zeny." I politely thanked her and started to turn to leave, but she called out to me. "Wait, I have some news for you."

I was so tired that I didn't want to hear any more, but I knew I needed to stay up to date with the information.

"As you may have noticed, there has been a huge increase in the number of adventurers, which has caused us some problems with the quests. If we hadn't organized ourselves, we wouldn't have been able to accommodate everyone."

"What's new is that the demand for quests like the one you completed has grown quite a bit recently. With the increase in the number of new adventurers, many of them have needed potions to complete their quests, which has ended up running out of stock on the market. This has caused the price of potions to skyrocket."

"Furthermore, since this type of quest is seen as boring and is often ignored by adventurers, they decided to increase the reward to attract more people. Now, they're paying four times as much. Are you interested in taking on more quests like this?"

As expected, as more adventurers arrived, the local economy began to change. New opportunities arose for those who knew how to seize them, and I soon I'll be ready to take advantage of these changes, especially in the sale of potions and ingredients.

Still, these quests were very advantageous, as they didn't require the purchase of expensive potions or equipment, unlike the more difficult quests. It was a good way to accumulate resources without large investments. "Please show me the available quests."

The receptionist smiled slightly and displayed the quests on a digital screen. "Take as many as you need, because tomorrow there might not be any more. Just remember to complete them within the deadline." This really worried me. I wanted to take on several quests, but I was afraid I wouldn't be able to finish them all in time. However, when I looked, I saw that there were quests of all types and deadlines.

I took on 5 quests, almost all of them with a 5-day deadline, and one with a 1-day deadline, which seemed quite advantageous. It asked for exactly the same items as today's quest, but paid three times as much: 400 Zeny, while the others had good rewards but slightly lower pay.

The remaining 4 quests required 6 red herbs, 3 yellow herbs, and 3 green herbs each, all with a reward of 500 Zeny. I'll have to dedicate the entire week to this. It may seem like I'm delaying the leveling process, but right now I need to get more money. If I have enough resources, I can join a strong group as support and gain experience without having to be a warrior, just by offering potions and helping out in the back.

Unlike other classes, until I become a full-fledged Alchemist, I will basically be a workhorse for groups of adventurers or guilds. In the beginning, an Alchemist needs a lot of resources, which would be easier to buy with money. Therefore, I need to develop to the merchant class as soon as possible so I can get discounts in stores, sell at higher prices and use my bargaining skills like Discount and Overchard.

After all that, it was time to eat and then rest for the next day. As I was leaving the guild, I felt the need to thank the receptionist. "By the way, miss, what's your name?"

"Rose." She replied.

"Thank you for your help, Rose. See you later."

And now I can finally go back to the inn.

Chapter 3: The Otherworlders Crisis
On the way back, as I entered the street where the inns were located, I noticed that there was some confusion in several of them. However, as I was exhausted, I didn't stop to notice the details and went straight to my inn. The simple but adequate "Yellow House" was waiting for me.

As I entered, I realized that the situation at the inn was not calm either. There was a lot of confusion and many people were shouting at Tayla, the kafra in charge of the place. Despite everything, she kept her charming smile and continued to speak politely to the complainants, which made me empathize with her. I approached to see what was going on.

When I got closer, a man with an aggressive tone said to Tayla: "How can you not have a room available? It's already the tenth inn I've gone to and they're all full! Why does this shitty city keep accepting these fucking immigrants?!"

Tayla, with her persistent smile and a bead of sweat running down her face, replied: "Sir, I apologize, but due to the arrival of new inhabitants from all over the world, we are facing overcrowding. We are doing our best to adapt to these conditions."

The situation was complicated. I hadn't anticipated this kind of problem. In my rush to resolve other matters, I didn't pay attention to the impacts of the mass migration on this world. Ignoring the screams, I approached the reception desk to ask for my key.

When Tayla saw me, her face lit up with relief, and she called out to me: "Azoth, please, I need to talk to you. Let's go inside."

I ignored the commotion that was still going on in the reception area. The people waiting there continued to shout, but nothing could change what was happening. We entered the room and Tayla stopped me in front of her. I was mesmerized by her eyes. There was something charming about her that made me want to say something positive.

She took a deep breath and continued, "You've noticed what's happening, right? People have arrived out of nowhere, and we're facing overcrowding. The price for a room is now far higher than what you paid."

The overcrowding was affecting the lodging. Fortunately, I had already paid for seven days in advance.

Tayla clasped her hands together pleadingly. "We've found a way to deal with this situation. Not all guests have accepted, but if you accept, we'll compensate you. Since you've already paid for seven days of your stay, we could extend it. The current price for a room is 400 zeny per day, but if you agree to share the room with another guest, we'll keep the price at 200 zeny per day for a month if there is no checkout"

I expected the prices to increase, but what she proposed to me was an advantageous offer. Not only for me, but also for them, since the inn was full. If they accepted more guests, they would profit from the higher charge, without having to drive away current guests. For me, it was a great solution, since it would keep a lower price for longer. I didn't know how long this overcrowding would last, but I believed that eventually the prices would go down.

"Do you accept?" Tayla asked, her voice a little hesitant, keeping her eyes fixed on him.

I thought about it for a moment. "Yes, good enough for me. However, there's one condition: that I don't have to share a room with suspicious peopl. I don't want to be attacked while I sleep."

With a relieved smile, Tayla replied, "Don't worry, Azoth. Before accepting any guest, we check their Status Plate to make sure they're not criminals. We don't accept outlaws."

This issue of the Status Plate was on my mind. I knew that I could obtain information about someone through the Status Plate, a sort of metal panel. This panel showed class, guild, group and completed missions, but there was other data that I couldn't access and would probably need to pay to obtain. The daily newspaper was also blocked, which is of utmost importance to keep me informed, and there was also the ranking and other info, but it wasn't something relevant to me at the moment. Still, I needed to research more about the accesses to this Status Plate.

Although I hadn't prepared for this kind of situation, I had been smart to rush through other tasks on the first day. Maybe my mistake was not taking a mission earlier, but overall, the ones I chose were good.

I was exhausted, I could barely stand. My body was asking for rest, and I wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. "I'll leave it to you, then. I'll be sleeping in the meantime."

Tayla replied: "Don't worry, we've already sorted it out."

After hearing that, I grabbed my room key and quickly went to take a shower, getting ready to rest. As I lay down, before falling into a deep sleep, I heard the voice of an elderly man entering the inn. He seemed to be thanking someone other than Tayla for the stay.

I woke up in the morning and realized that the bed where the other guest was sleeping was empty. 'He left very early.' I thought. While I was getting ready for the shower, I took the opportunity to check my Status Plate.

In the game, when I wanted to access my inventory, I did so through a virtual screen, but here it's a little different. Through the Board, I can see all the items I have in my Inventory, and to pick them up, I just click on the desired item and it automatically comes to my hand. I can carry up to 40 pieces of equipment and 40 items, which seems like a lot, but on a long expedition, that can be a limited number. It would be nice if the storage space could be increased...

I currently have 16 items in my inventory. Although some of them are useless, I decided not to sell them for now, since there are also items that I can use later. When I reach the first Merchant Class, I will be able to sell some of the useless items for a higher price in the stores. At the moment, I also don't see any need to use the Kafra service, which, like in the game, would allow me to store 50 pieces of equipment and 50 items, in addition to enabling upgrades to access my items from anywhere in the world. When I need it, I will certainly learn more about how it works.

I can also see all the equipment I am using and their attributes. Right now, I am equipped with a Knife that gives me 17 attack strength and a Cotton Shirt that gives me 10 armor. In addition, I can check the status of my attributes. When I level up, two virtual angel wings appear above my head, just like in the game. At this point, I can only think about which attributes I will distribute the points to; I only put one point in dexterity. I decided to save the points for later, since I don't know if I can reset the attributes like in the game, so for now I'll save these points for later.

There are other features on the Status Plate that I still need to explore, but I should hurry up and have a meal. Today I'll spend the whole day in the outskirts completing quests.

I spent the whole time there hunting Plants and collecting their drop items.

It was much easier today. I managed to defeat 36 Plants in 7 hours, 12 of each color. I completed the mission quickly, still having 2 Red Herbs and 3 green ones left, which I will use for the next missions. With another 4 days to go, if I continue at this pace, I will be able to finish on time, maybe even a day early, and I will even be able to advance one more level, reaching level 4. Since I'm already tired, I'll stop here.

When I arrived at the guild, I picked up my reward and, without delay, went to the inn. This time, unlike yesterday, there was no commotion, which indicated that the problem had been solved. The new kafra was different from Tayla. She was also always smiling, but she seemed older.

"Hello, miss, could I have the key to room 21?", I asked politely.

"Of course, you are Azoth, right? Thanks for accepting the deal, it helped a lot with the overcrowding."

"It was nothing, it was good for me too," I replied shortly, and went straight to my room.

When I got to my room, I noticed that the door was already open. When I entered, I found a man, looking about 45 years old, with strong arms and an iron smell. He seemed quite imposing and watched me for a moment while I sat down, but then he got up.

"Are you Azoth?" he asked.

"Yeah that's me," I replied.

"Thanks for sharing your room. I live in a mining town nearby called Einbech. We collect minerals there, and sometimes I come to supply what we mine, but it's the first time I see this situation with the inns."

The smell of iron and the strength of the man now made sense. I decided to ask, "Are you a Blacksmith?"

He straightened up, patting his chest with both hands and said, "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't even introduce myself. My name is Balack. I'm a Blacksmith. I started late in the profession, though. At my age, I should be a Master Blacksmith by now, or even a Mechanic."

Sharing a room with this man seemed like a good opportunity. Casual conversation wasn't common here, but I had already had conversations like that with Tayla and Rose. I needed to strengthen my circle of friends if I wanted to adapt well to this world.

"How long do you plan on staying in Einbroch?" I asked politely.

"I'll be here for another 3 days. Don't worry, I won't bother you," he replied, smiling.

"No problem. Your presence isn't a problem for me. Since I arrived in this world, I haven't talked to anyone so casually."

"Oh, so you're one of the Otherworlders?" Balack asked, surprised.

'Otherworlders? Is that what they're calling us?' I confirmed, despite the doubt "Yes, I'm one of them."

"Hm... The otherworlders are usually very depressed. Many talk about the world they came from, and everyone hopes to return, but they say that a giant meteor devastated your world. A lot of Otherworlders showed up here in Rune Midgard and in the Republic of Schwartzvald. We are facing a huge overpopulation crisis all over the world."

'As expected, the news has already spread. Will any former Ragnarok players reveal that this world is actually a game created in our world?' For my part, I will remain silent about it.

"Yes, it's exactly as you said. Some of us are having trouble adapting." I replied.

Chapter 4: The Cost of Progress
It was still early evening, and I had some time before bed to get more information from the old man. So, I asked, "You said you should have become a Master Blacksmith by now. Why didn't you become one? What held you back?"

He rested his chin between his fingers and paused, as if trying to formulate the best way to answer me, since he knew I didn't have much knowledge about that world.

"Well, before I became a Blacksmith, I was a Templar. I ended up wasting my time on something that wasn't exactly what I expected."

'So, is it possible to change classes?', I thought. But what about the progress? "If you want to go back to being a Templar, would you have to start from scratch in terms of level progression?", I asked.

"Not exactly. In theory, I'm still a Templar and didn't lose my progress. But I would have to go to the church of Prontera, renew my vows and dedicate my life to the Goddess Freya, wife of Odin. I would remain at the same Class Level, but I don't intend to continue."

"I see... What about attribute resets? Where can I reset them?"

"Ah, that's simple. In the square here in the city, there is a statue of the Entity of Cycles. Just kneel before it and your attributes will be reset. Now, as for skills, it depends on your class. You go to the association dedicated to your class to reset your skills."

Well, at least I won't have to worry so much about attribute distribution. While I was thinking about this, Balack asked me directly, "By the way, what class do you want to pursue?"

"I plan to become a Merchant first, and then an Alchemist."

Balack looked me up and down, examining my appearance. "Kid, I'll be blunt: You should give up. It's a very difficult class. Only the children of nobles or powerful aristocrats can become Alchemists. Without resources, it's almost impossible."

I was curious about that insinuation. I really didn't see many Alchemists around town, even though it was a place dedicated to the class. "Why is that?"

"In general, adventurers tend to choose combat-oriented classes due to their effectiveness in battle. However, the Merchant only excels in logistics, which is not something that will help you in the early stages."

I already knew that, but for me, the Alchemist Class was the most complete one. I will just have to work hard to achieve my goals.

"I understand, Mr. Balack, but I've already made my decision. To become a Merchant, I need to be level 10, right?"

"That's right. Level 10 for Merchant and level 40 for Alchemist. Luckily for you, the city has guilds for both classes. You won't need to leave here, unlike me, who had to go to Prontera to become a Templar."

The conversation was good, but I needed to get back to the outskirts of the city. Before that, I asked one more question, "This might sound like a weird question, but please take it seriously. If I die, will I come back to life?" I needed to clarify this, because I couldn't take risk without that answer.

"It depends. If you die anywhere else, it's permanent. But if it's in the War of Emperium, you'll be resurrected."

I thanked him and said goodbye for the day. As I walked away, I couldn't help thinking it would be so much easier if it were like in the game. It's a shame you can only revive when you die in the War of Emperium.

...

Three days later, I was returning to town after a day of harvesting plants. I had already completed my quest, reached level 6, and still had time to do something useful. I decided to take the opportunity to say goodbye to Balack, the nice man who had helped me a lot these past few days. He mentioned that when I became a merchant, he wanted to do business with me. He also said that he had a son who wanted to go on adventures and that he would introduce me to him next time.

'I've been a lone wolf so far, but maybe it's time for a change. Doing everything alone is getting complicated.'

When I arrived at the adventurers' guild, I noticed a lot of movement. People were shouting, "Avalanchers!" I handed over my collected items to Rose and asked what was going on.

"Today is a day of celebration. A new guild has been formed, it's called the Avalanchers."

The guild was packed. Members cheered, raising the flag with the guild's crest. I couldn't help but ask, "Is that really such a big deal?"

Rose looked at me strangely, "You have no idea how hard it is to get an Emperium Shard that is needed to create a legitimate guild."

In the game, it wasn't really such a big deal to defeat a boss and have a 5% chance of getting a Emperium Shard, but I guess when you think this is now "real life", things get much more complicated.

I opened my Status Blate and there it was: Adventurer Rank F – Smoke Sentinels. This made me wonder, "Smoke Sentinels? Am I part of that guild?"

She replied, ironically: "No, silly. There is a difference between legitimate guilds and formal guilds."

Rose explained the two main types of guilds.

First, we have the guilds created using a Emperium Shard, a rare item that grants the right to found a legitimate guild, recognized by the Emperium system, created by deities in ancient times. They have well-established hierarchies, their own rules and are usually focused on the War of Emperium, dungeon raids, and any other military operation. The main advantage of a legitimate guild is the just like in the game: Guild Skills, including the iconic "Emergency Call" that summons all chosen members with teleports.

On the other hand, the formal, "in name only" guilds are just normal organizations with varying purposes. Among them are Class Guilds. They are learning centers specific to classes such as Alchemists, Blacksmiths and Knights, where members train and develop their skills. There are also Adventurer Guilds, which are organizations used for issuing or seeking quests, sharing information and obtaining support for their adventures. These guilds are recognized by the cities to organize and control the activity of adventurers efficiently.

I also asked Rose about territorial wars in the kingdom of Rune Midgard. She explained that in the past, there have been several alliance breakdowns and wars between legitimate guilds and kingdoms. However, we are currently living in a period of peace. The last major war was with the Republic of Schwartzvald, which happened over 10 years ago. Rose also mentioned the Morroc revolt, but did not go into much detail, only that it was a civil war caused by rebels fighting for the independence of the Morroc region.

These wars and revolts often arise from disputes over power and territory, involving guilds that arise due to broader political and territorial interests. However, at this time, the kingdom seems to be in a period of relative tranquility, after the intense battles and political changes that marked the recent past.

The adventurer guild building was not a suitable place for conversation right now; there was a lot of euphoria and shouting. I took the opportunity leave to go say goodbye to Balack at the train station.

The metallic sound of gears grinding and the smokestacks belching into the gray sky accompanied me as I walked through Einbroch station. The thick, soot-laden air filled my lungs with every step. People in shabby work clothes hurried past me, some carrying sacks of ore, others with tools strapped to their waists. The steam locomotive, parked in front of me, let out a constant squeaking noise, as if it were complaining about its own existence.

I looked around, looking for Balack. It wasn't long before I spotted him about to enter a train. "Balack!" I called, raising my hand.

"Hey, kid, I thought you wouldn't come." he shouted as he stepped back from the train.

"Eager to go home?" I asked, in a farewell tone.

"Yes, I need to get back to work. Let me at least add your ID Number to mine, so we can communicate from a distance."

The concept of exchanging messages left me full of doubts, but I held out my ID Number. It's a good opportunity to investigate this communication option.

Once Balack confirmed the registration, he climbed onto the train in a cheery mood. The whistle sounded, and within moments, the locomotive began to move, slowly moving away from the station. I waved lightly as it disappeared into the distance, then turned to face the city center.

Curious, I opened the menu on my Status Blate to test the messaging function. When I tried to access it, a notification appeared: "Feature unavailable. Go to the nearest post office to unlock it." I let out a frustrated sigh. Of course, nothing could be that simple. I would have to find a post office in the city to activate this function, and there would certainly be a cost involved.

With that thought, I decided to head towards the city post office. The streets of Einbroch, covered in industrial dust and with the mechanical sounds of machinery, gave me the feeling that everything there worked like a big gear. The metal buildings and the factories releasing smoke reminded me that this city never stopped.

After walking a few blocks, I spotted the post office building. It was a discreet building compared to the rest of the city, but the emblem of a winged letter above the door gave away its purpose. Upon entering, I found the place busier than I expected. There were Merchants, adventurers, and city workers, all taking care of their own business.

I walked up to the counter, where a middle-aged man wearing a simple uniform greeted me with a curious look. "Can I help you, young man?" he asked, interrupting his work.

"Yes, I'm trying to unlock the messaging function on my status plate. A notification appeared saying that I need to come here."

The clerk nodded. "Ah, I see. You'll need to register here and pay a small fee to enable the service."

He continued, "Activating the messaging function costs 500 Zeny, and you'll need to pay a fee of 1000 Zeny for each message you send. If you plan on using it a lot, we have more advantageous plans, such as 50, 100, or even unlimited messages per month. We also have special plans for guild leaders, which allow you to send messages to all members."

I thought for a moment. The fees were a bit high, but it was clear that this feature would be useful. In the game, we didn't have to worry about that. Messages were instantaneous, and we only needed to use them when someone was offline since the chat was just better otherwise.

After finishing the last quest, I had 2520 Zeny. It was a good amount to survive for a few days, so despite how weird it felt to have to pay for functions that were for free in the game, I decided to enable the message function so I could at least read what was sent to me. If I needed to send a message, I would have to pay 1000 Zeny each time, which is pretty expensive for me right now.

When I left the post office, it was already night. I had 2020 Zeny left and there were still two days until I had to settle my bills with the inn. I should be able to get another week's pay with that money, but my knife was already showing some minor damage. However, I didn't know if it would be worth fixing it. I would need to ask a blacksmith about the cost of repairing it. Then I will decide on whether to repair or buy a new one. I've lived with a blacksmith in my room for 3 days and didn't ask him about it...

Starting tomorrow, I planned to enter dungeons to quickly reach level 10 and obtain my Merchant Class. That way, I will start making some decent money.

I arrived at the inn and got my key from Tayla, who was behind the counter. She looked at me with her ever friendly smile. I briefly greeted her and went to my room. I was eager to rest after having completed all the quests from the last few days.

When I opened the door, however, I was greeted by an unexpected scene.

Chapter 5: The First Companion
On the edge of the bed sat a boy, his hands shaking as he held a piece of dry bread. His eyes were wide, like he was on high alert, and he barely noticed when I entered.

He looked nervous, as if waiting for something bad to happen.

"Oh, sorry!" he exclaimed, almost dropping the bread on the floor. "I... I didn't know you were going to arrive... yeah..."

I stopped, dumbfounded, trying to understand what was happening. He noticed my presence, but instead of just standing up, he gave a little jump, as if he was getting caught.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

He tried to compose himself, with a nervous smile on his face, but failed. "Yes! Of course! Everything's great! I was just… finishing… packing things up." He paused, as if he didn't know what to say.

"So... you're my roommate, right?" I asked, still a little confused.

"That's right! I'm Rox, Rox Solis. Nice to meet you!" He stood up quickly, almost tripping over a chair that was half overturned. When he straightened up, he reached out his hand, but just as he tried to get closer, he remembered something and took a step back, clearly uncomfortable.

"Solis..." I thought, as if that surname was familiar to me. It was as if I had heard that name somewhere, perhaps in some story or even in research on Earth. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't remember exactly where. Still, the feeling of familiarity never left me.

"Are you okay, Rox?" I asked, trying to understand if he was scared or that was just how he was.

"Ah, it's just... I'm kind of... nervous about change, you know? Change of environment, new people... that sort of thing." He took a deep breath, as if preparing to face an invisible monster.

"But we're going to do our best, right? It's going to be alright! I promise!" said Rox

The scene was so unusual that I couldn't help but laugh. Rox looked like he was getting ready to face a dragon, but all he had to do was share a room with me.

He smiled, still adjusting the bed, and seemed to have calmed down a little. After a few seconds, he raised his head and, with a shy smile, said: "Ah, by the way... you must be wondering what I'm doing here, right?" He chuckled nervously, trying to break the tense atmosphere. "Well, actually... I'm an adventurer."

I looked at him for a moment, surprise giving way to a smile. This clumsy guy didn't seem like the kind of person you'd expect to be an adventurer, but I felt he'd be great company to tackle some dungeons with. "So, What level are you now?"

"I'm level 6," Rox said, a little embarrassed.

"Are you planning to explore a dungeon tomorrow?" I asked casually.

"Yes. tomorrow I'll go to the adventurers' guild to find someone to team up with and explore a dungeon... But why do you ask?", he replied, curious.

"You're an Otherworlder, aren't you?" I asked, using the term that inhabitants of that world often use to describe people from other worlds.

Rox looked at me, surprised, and gave a nervous laugh. "Yes, I am, but it's not like I'm an ET or something. I'm a human, just like you." He scratched the back of his neck, trying to look at ease.

I smiled internally. He fell right into my act. He was thinking I was a native inhabitant of this world, and not someone like him. Right now, he doesn't need to know the truth. Maybe I wouldn't trust myself enough to take advice if I knew we were the same.

"Then it's decided! I'll go explore a dungeon with you!" I clapped my hands together, with a confident smile on my face.

"Wait, are you an adventurer too?" Rox asked, excited.

"Yes, I'm at level 6 too. I hope we get along well" I replied with a positive gesture, trying to reinforce confidence.

...

The next morning, we woke up early and went straight to the adventurers' guild. Upon arrival, Rose was there to welcome us as usual. I greeted her and introduced Rox as my new exploring companion.

"Well, there's a small misunderstanding here regarding Warps and Dungeons, so let me explain how it all works." Rose said with a serious tone.

From her explanation, I gathered that in this world, mana is an arcane energy that permeates the entire environment, being responsible for countless magical phenomena, including the creation of monsters. Just like in Earth physics where energy converts into atoms to form the basis of all matter, in this world, mana plays a similar role by organizing and condensing energy into tangible, often living forms.

The concentration of mana at certain areas called "Warps" creates a phenomenon known as "Magic Crystallization", where raw energy begins to transform into physical matter. This process is slow but continuous, making mana go from a "magical essence" to complex organisms – monsters.

"In addition to the monsters that spawn naturally in warps, there is something even rarer and more dangerous that can happen when the amount of mana in an area becomes out of control or exceeds its natural limit." Rose continued.

"In situations where there is an overflow of mana, the excess of this concentrated energy manifests itself in a more extreme way. This is when a Dungeon begins to form. These dungeons are immense and have an varied number of floors."

"The dungeons appear once or twice a year, often in the Kingdom of Rune-Midgard, and are a phenomenon that attracts adventurers from all corners. That's because within the dungeons, the rewards are incomparable. The monsters that inhabit these places, including the Big Boss that rules the deepest floors, drop rare items at an absurdly higher rate. For adventurers, the dungeons are a unique opportunity to get rich and obtain items that would otherwise be impossible to find anywhere else."

"Of course," she smirked, "entering a dungeons is as dangerous as it is rewarding. Many enter and never return. Each floor brings challenges that no one can predict, and the Bosses that guard the deeper floors... well, few survive to tell their stories."

"Speaking of which," Rose continued, "the last Dungeon came out about three months ago, but has already been taken down, so you'll have to wait until the next one shows up for you to explore it."

That was disappointing. From what I heard of other people's conversations, I thought there were multiple dungeons. It sounded like it was way more advantageons to kill monsters there.

"That dungeon lasted for a month and a half despite the efforts of several guilds trying and failing to defeat the final Boss. It was then that one of the strongest guilds, the Stormlords decided to take action. They allied with two other top guilds and, together, managed to finish the dungeon before it became too strong."

She then explained how Dungeons got stronger as time passes, and how important it is to finish them before they become too strong and start expanding, threatening nearby cities.

"So, it's a rare occorrence for such a dungeon to apppear and force the top guilds to ally, right?"

Rose nodded. "Yes. Most of the time, the guilds try to defeat the boss by themselvez, but when that seems impossible, they form an alliance to take it down. Still, this dungeon was far from being the one that lasted the longest. There have been dungeons that took more than 5 years to be taken down."

Rox's eyes sparkled with admiration. "That sounds really amazing. One day... one day I will become a member of a top guild and take down the strongest dungeons!"

Rose smiled when she saw Rox's determination. "Well, for that, you're going to need a lot of strength and courage. So, how about exploring a warp on the outskirts of Prontera? That region where a gigantic jungle is located is where many low-level monsters are generated. That's where most new adventurers begin their journey."

I found myself thinking for a moment, trying to understand how we could get to Prontera. Walking there seemed like an impossible quest, it would take days.

"But how do we get to Prontera?" I asked, raising the doubt that was bouncing around in my head.

Rose looked at me and explained in a calm tone "You can get to Prontera, yes. But the problem is that getting into the city won't be easy."

"Why?" I asked, curious.

"Prontera is controlled by a powerful oligarchy. To even set foot into it, you need to pay 10 thousand Zenys. It is a rich city, very rich indeed. Rumor has it that Prontera - unlike our city which received "few" Otherworlders - was inundated with them. Most were promptly expelled, their fate uncertain. Some say they were scattered throughout the kingdom, while others whisper they were even sent as far away as the Republic of Schwartzvald."

The high tax made me stop to reflect on the reality of that place. It was evident that, in some places, Otherworlders were being discriminated against. The lives of those who did not have in-depth knowledge of this world will be full obstacles.

"But how will we get to the outskirts of Prontera, and how will we get back?" I asked, with even more doubts in my mind.

Rose smiled slightly, noticing my confusion. "Well, on the outskirts of Prontera, near the villages, there are several adventurer camps. And most importantly, there are gatewatchers there. They control portals that take you to every city in Rune Midgard."

'This was news to me. Those camps and villages? They didn't exist when I played the game. It's had a lot of updates while I've been away, but I didn't play enough in the last years to keep up with everything that changed.'

"What are the quests in the jungle of Prontera?" I asked Rose, curious.

"Well, if you're looking for quests, the adventurer's guide at the camp there can help you. He has some quests related to the surrounding area. Here, at the guild, we only have quests that are more focused on our city, and there are generally few options. The most interesting ones, so to speak, are deeper into the jungle of Prontera, and are of rank D or C."

After hearing Rose's response, I said goodbye and headed towards the Gatewatchers with Rox, ready to venture into the plains around Prontera.

Chapter 7: The Adventurer's Awakening
"Well, you're free to go out and explore on your own, face monsters, and survive however you see fit," said Mary, with a slight smile. However, her tone soon became more serious. "But there are some things you need to understand. Although there are no restrictions for those who wish to roam the plains on their own, participating in the quests organized by the guild is a little different. To get access to our quests without official membership, you'll need to register as a guest in the guild. With a fee of 300 Zenys per person, you will have access to all available quests, in addition to the support of our network of information and benefits that can facilitate your survival and progress here."

Mary paused before continuing, as if considering the next important point to mention. "Oh, and something that might interest you... have you ever heard of Linker Rings?"

I shook my head, curious.

"These are special rings that allow you to form groups of adventurers and divide combat experience among all members of the group. When you are in a group with these rings, the experience you and your allies gain by defeating monsters is shared just like items, which can greatly accelerate your growth and make it fair to divide items. However, they have a limited lifespan. I have these that are expiring in two days, you can buy them for 200 Zenys."

As I pondered Mary's words, it became apparent that Viperspire was more than just a guild. They seemed to be actively exploring all avenues for profit, constantly seeking new ways to generate income.

I asked Rox for a loan of 150 Zeny, necessary so I could sign up and access Viperspire's quest advantages. He gladly accepted, understanding the importance of this opportunity for our progress as adventurers.

After registering, I was able to access the available quests. I went to the large digital board, where several quests were listed. Many of them involved Fly Wings, an item that, despite being expensive on the market, was easy to obtain and served as a quick random teleportation between locations. I decided to avoid these quests so that I could save the Fly Wings that I will get during our adventures.

It was then that I saw a very useful mission: 10 Feathers, 12 Carrots, 5 Fluff, 6 Jellopy, 2 Green Herbs, 4 Apples. The reward for this quest was 700 Zenys, which meant I could split 350 for myself and 350 to Rox. However, considering all the expenses, from teleportation to completing the mission, I realized that we would not be able to surpass the value of 450 Zenys.

In light of this, I had the idea of asking Rox if he would like to spend two days exploring the plains of Prontera. I believe that this way we would be able to not only cover our costs, but also advance our experience levels. Rox accepted the proposal

Before our departure, I carefully noted the monster information on the digital board. A dedicated section displayed details about local creatures and the items they dropped

Soon after we left towards the jungle on the plains of Prontera.

As we explored the jungle, the atmosphere around us became increasingly vibrant and full of life. The smell of fresh greenery filled the air, and the sound of leaves blowing in the breeze created a peaceful melody. Soon, we realized that we were not alone; other adventurers, in pairs and trios, were also on the hunt, facing the typical Porings that moved smoothly across the ground.

In that area, monsters were docile and only attacked when provoked. I saw a Poring near a tree - a small, pink jelly with a cute smile and big eyes. It was an ordinary monster, with a cute and harmless appearance.

I approached the creature. "Try to always attack it from its flanks. It takes higher damage that way." I said to Rox.

Rox nodded, preparing for action. As soon as we positioned ourselves, the surrounded Poring turned towards him. I then took the opportunity and moved forward, slashing with my knife. However, my attack was not enough to defeat him immediately. The angry Poring turned to me and attacked, dealing 7 points of damage.

"Now it's my turn!" shouted Rox, throwing himself at the Poring. With a precise strike, he managed to defeat him. The small gelatinous creature exploded in a rain of gelatin, leaving behind a few items that glittered in the sunlight.

The items were automatically added to our inventories. Before the fight, we agreed to let the Linker Ring handle item distribution. Satisfied with our first victory, we continued looking for more Porings to hunt.

We managed to defeat 15 Porings before finally getting the last apple we needed. With that, both Rox and I rose to level 7, our enthusiasm growing with each victory. With the items in hand, we then decided to go in search of the Lunatics.

The Lunatics were strange and somewhat comical creatures, with small, round bodies covered in bluish fur and bulging eyes that seemed to always be in a state of surprise. They were known for their erratic behavior, jumping and spinning unpredictably, making fighting them a true test of skill and reflexes.

We used the same battle strategy with all the monsters, and as we walked through the jungle we were lucky enough to encounter the Alpha Lunatic several times, a more robust and imposing version of the regular Lunatic. The Alpha Lunatic was not only more intimidating with darker fur and a fiercer gaze, but it also had a higher drop rate of Fly Wings, which helped increase our supply.

As we faced these creatures, our experience continued to increase, and we soon reached level 8. It was already starting to get dark when we decided we'll now be hunting the Fabre, a monster that was known to have a stronger attack, one of the more powerful monsters in this regions.

I quickened my pace alongside Rox, eager to get the items needed to complete our mission. The sun was low on the horizon, and I started to worry about not being able to finish the quest today. When we found the Fabres, we noticed they were long, slender creatures, covered in green fur and with long ears. Its eyes had a curious gleam, but one should not be deceived; They were known for their quick and relentless attack.

We fought valiantly, defeating 10 Fabres and reaching level 9. Unfortunately, my knife broke during the battle and will need repairs. Exhausted, we collapsed to the ground, our heavy breathing a testament to the day's intensity

"We did it!" said Rox, tired but with a satisfied smile on his face.

"Let's go back before it gets dark, or we'll get lost." I replied, standing up quickly and extending my hand to help him up. With that, we started our way back to the Viperspire camp.

The camp was a bustling scene of bonfires, lanterns, and the delicious aroma of roasting meat. Laughter and conversation filled the air as adventurers returned from their expeditions. Pushing through the crowd, I headed toward the Viperspire Mansion to complete our mission

After receiving our reward, I left the mansion and noticed the diversity of people in that camp. Rox, who was relaxed, noticed my expression and asked: "What are you looking for?"

"A Blacksmith or a Merchant. I need to repair my knife." I replied, a little frustrated.

Rox looked around, his curious gaze fixed on one of the stalls and he suggested, "How about going to that store?"

"It is not very appropriate for us to go to equipment stores generally. Cheap apprentice equipment is not found there. Swords that are not valuable are either found with blacksmiths or merchants," I explained.

While we were talking, Rox spotted a blacksmith in one of the camp's tents and we went over to him.

The blacksmith, an elderly man, greeted us as we arrived and asked, "New adventurers?"

Rox happily replied, "Yeah, we're new adventurers! Just back from our first expedition together."

I removed his arm from my shoulders and asked, "Can you repair my knife?"

He took the knife in his hands, examined it carefully, and commented, "Look, it's more appropriate to buy another one. After it breaks the first time, if you don't refine it, it will break quickly. I have this one.. ."

Before he finished speaking, I interrupted: "Sir, I don't have any money. If you could fix it so it can last another day, that would be a great help." As I spoke, I gestured sincerely, hoping he understood my situation.

"Calm down, boy. I understand your situation. Don't worry, the knife I'm going to offer you is very affordable. Or are you going to tell me that there aren't 30 Zenys there?"

He seemed like an honest person. The knife I had only cost 25 Zenys, and he was only asking for 5 Zenys more. So I decided to buy the knife. It seemed like he wasn't too worried about the money. I thanked him and turned to Rox.

"Come on, Rox. Let's find a spot to sleep at the camp and save some money on lodging."

The blacksmith overheard us and generously offered, "Hey there, boys. Need a place to stay tonight? How about keeping an old man company?"

Chapter 8: Merchant's Path
The tent was a decent place to sleep, much better than the street. We chatted with Yamal, the blacksmith, who shared stories of his adventures. He mentioned how blacksmithing had evolved, with skilled craftsmen now creating magical items using boss drops. This innovation, combined with the influx of new adventurers, led to increased demand, prompting Yamal to return to work.

The night was filled with conversation, and eventually, we drifted off to sleep. The next morning, I roused Rox and suggested returning to Viperspire Mansion. Despite our recent leveling up, we were confident we wouldn't take long to level up again.

We approached the digital board to find a suitable quest. We wanted something achievable yet rewarding. While we could freely explore and hunt, it was important to secure a quest on the board since they were being taken at a fast rate.

The quest we chose required 16 Plushies, 10 Green Herbs, 8 Feathers, and 5 Carrots, offering 400 zeny. It wasn't much, but it was the best option for our current level and would provide a good amount of experience.

We ventured back into the jungle, focusing on our hunting and adapting our strategies with each encounter, the repetition of combats bringing new ideas to mind. Hours passed as we faced familiar monsters and collected the necessary items. By late afternoon, we had gathered the itens required by the quest.

While observing the monsters yesterday, I recalled the possibility of making them pets. Poring was easy to capture but wouldn't be very useful. I then considered the Lunatic. The Alpha Lunatic we defeated dropped a Rainbow Carrot, which could be used to capture a Lunatic pet.

We successfully reached level 11, surpassing the requirement for the Merchant Class in my case. Since we only got one Rainbow Carrot, I proposed I'd keep the carrot and a 3-slot club, while Rox could have the 4-slot club and other items.

As we prepared to leave the camp, we encountered Yamal, who was already packing up his tent. He greeted us warmly and expressed his pleasure at meeting us.

I thanked him for his hospitality and asked for his ID Number, hoping to repay his kindness in the future."

Yamal departed, and Rox and I headed to the Viperspire Mansion to complete our quest. We received a reward of 200 zeny each and quickly hurried through the portal to return home.

At the Gate Watcher's location, I noticed a merchant advertising the purchase of Fly Wings. A nearby sign indicated he also bought Butterfly Wings.

Ignoring the crowd, I approached the merchant and inquired, "How much do you pay for each Fly Wing?"

He eagerly replied, "100 zeny. Do you have any to sell?"

I quickly responded, "No, I was just curious about the price."

The merchant's offer was significantly below market value. I decided to hold onto my Fly Wings and check prices in Einbroch."

As I passed through the portal and returned to the Gatewachers' grand mansion in Einbroch, I noticed another sign informing me that they also bought Fly Wings and Butterfly Wings there. Fly Wing was an item that was quite popular among solo adventurers. Considering that they were relatively easy to obtain, the demand for the product seemed high in the Gatewachers' guild.

When we passed through the portal, it was already night, and I was eager to return to the inn. My plan for the next day was to go to the Merchant Guild and obtain my merchant class. The weight of the decisions that awaited me mixed with fatigue, and soon I drifted off to sleep.

...

Dawn came faster than I expected. I woke up early, eager to start the day. As I was getting ready to go to the guild, I noticed that Rox was not in the room. He would probably also get his class today, although I didn't know which one he would choose. That got me very curious.

Going down the stairs of the inn, I found Tayla at the reception. She greeted me with a warm smile. "Good morning, Mr. Azoth! Are you going to renew your stay with us? Today is your checkout day."

I realized I'd forgotten about that. Despite my progress, I felt my finances were growing too slowly. I currently had 1,745 zeny and a full inventory.

"Can you wait until tonight? I'm going to take care of some things today, and if I have any money left over, I'll advance you a few days."

"Of course, we'll be waiting! We really hope you continue to stay with us" she replied genuinely.

Leaving the inn, I was greeted by a cacophony of construction noise. The city was undergoing rapid development, with numerous inns under renovation to meet the growing demand for housing.

Walking through the city streets, it was now impossible to ignore the massive presence of adventurers. Many of them wore impressive helmets and armor, with intricate designs and high-quality materials. The number seemed to have tripled from the previous days, but upon closer inspection, I noticed that they were not newbies. They were experienced adventurers, with equipment that showcased their journeys and achievements.

Soon after passing by the alchemy store, I came across an imposing building that displayed the name "Merchants' Guild" on its facade. The entrance was busy, with merchants constantly coming and going, engaged in heated negotiations, carrying heavy bags and papers, exchanging information and discussing prices.

Inside, the Merchant Guild building was even more impressive. The main lobby was spacious, with a vaulted ceiling adorned with gold accents and hanging chandeliers that illuminated the space with soft light. The walls were covered with tapestries showing ancient scenes of trade and commercial expeditions. There were several negotiation tables spread out, where merchants gathered to close deals. The atmosphere was intense, full of murmurs and calculations, a true temple of commerce.

Going up the side stairs, the environment became more formal. Hallways were decorated with busts of notable merchants, and shop windows displayed rare and valuable items, a constant reminder of the rewards that success in this profession could bring. The air here was calmer, but carried a palpable expectation.

After being dazzled by the grandeur of the place, I approached a counter to look for information on how to obtain the Merchant Class. I was attended to by an elderly man, who, after listening to me, instructed me on where to go. "Upstairs, you will meet the Senior Merchant. He will explain the preparations and requirements to you."

Upon entering the room, I noticed that there were already some apprentices there, all waiting patiently. As soon as I walked through the door, I was approached by a person who said he was the Senior Merchant's assistant.

"Are you also going to participate in the Coin Ceremony?"

I didn't understand what he meant and asked, curious, "Coin Ceremony?"

He gestured with his hands as he explained, "The Coin Ceremony is the ritual that formalizes the transition to the merchant class. The requirements are simple: be at level 10 and pay a thousand Zenys to the Adventurers Guild."

A thousand Zenys… Each new step brought more expenses, and at times it felt like the unexpected costs were overwhelming. But this was necessary. Becoming a merchant was vital to expanding my resources. I nodded, accepting his words, and the assistant motioned me to join the others waiting.

As soon as the tenth person entered the room, we were guided to a larger room, where the Senior Merchant was waiting for us. He was a serious-looking man, but with an air of wisdom and authority. He introduced himself as one of the apostles of Forseti, the God of Justice and Negotiation. With a firm voice, he announced that, at the end of the ritual, everyone there would become merchants.

The ritual was simple, but full of symbolism. On a table in front of us, ten silver coins were laid out, one for each of us. We were instructed to pick up a coin and hold it with both hands. The Senior Merchant then began to chant ancient words about prosperity and fairness in negotiations. When he finished, each of us had to flip the coin. As it fell, the metallic sound echoed throughout the room. This was the sign that we had completed our transition – the coin symbolized exchange, commerce, and our commitment to the profession of Merchant.

When the ceremony ended, something inside me changed. I picked up the coin lying at my feet and looked at it. The feeling of being a merchant was now real. I felt more confident, as if I could see opportunities where before I had only seen obstacles. The ability to calculate profits, predict the value of items, and make shrewd trades seemed to be part of me instinctively.

The Senior Merchant then looked at us and declared that we were now officially trained as merchants. He told us that payment would be made to the assistant, who was waiting nearby, and informed us that some new features would be available on our status board that he would explain.

Chapter 9: Towards Profit
Upon leaving the room, the senior merchant's assistant was waiting and explained some of our new skills to us. Some of them were: Commerce, Mammonite, Item Appraisal, Discount, Overcharge, Pushcart and Enlarge Weight Limit.

However, there were still some skills missing that were essential, especially if I wanted to join a group of adventurers. "Crazy Uproar" was an excellent buff, so I decided to ask the assistant.

"Are there other skills for merchants?" I asked.

"Ah, of course, there are several skills. However, they take longer to learn, and you need to complete quests or quests to acquire them. There are groups of specialized merchants who teach these skills. Here in the city we have Mott, who can teach you two of them. But he'll demmand you to perform a task for him before that."

I committed Mott's name to memory to look for it in the future. Right now, there were more pressing things. The assistant continued: "When you open your Status Plates, you will notice a few new functions. The first of these is rank. Now that you have become a Merchant in Einbroch, you have been added to the local Merchants list, at no cost. However, if you want access to global ranking, you will need to pay an extra fee."

I found the ranking to be an incredible tool for advertising, as it would allow you to see the status of other Merchants, the type of products they sell and their sales volumes. This would be a great way to analyze the market and its trends. I was excited to see comparison charts of items, equipment, and sales, as well as comparisons between different merchants. It was an extremely useful tool.

The assistant continued: "It's worth remembering that you are not yet in this ranking. To be listed, you will also have to pay. Another important function is virtual commerce, which, as you can see, is fully paid. This is our most expensive service. If you want more information, the receptionist at the entrance of the building can explain better, as there are several rules for this service."

"Now let's talk about another available feature, which is also paid, but since you became merchants today, you will have a month of free access," he said, pausing briefly before continuing: "It's the Ad function. If you want to buy or sell an item or equipment, but don't know where to find it, when you access this function, you will have access to all the merchants in the city who buy or sell the desired item. Many have establishments in the Great Market of Einbroch, and with this information, you can send a message to the seller or buyer. If the merchant has a store, you can also access its info in the announcements function of the Status Plate."

Each new explanation was a surprise, and I was amazed at how much the market system had evolved compared to the game to have so much control and organization.

"Each month you'll need 5,000 Zenys to maintain the resources you have access to for a month and finally, there are several other options for those who want to invest in specific items or equipment or to use a cart, but you will have to find out on your own at the entrance to the Guild building. See you later!" finished the assistant.

Leaving the door of the Merchants Guild building, I realized that it was not yet necessary to delve into all the available functions. The truth is that I was barely supporting myself financially, and adding this huge amount of functions to my Status Plate would require a lot of Zeny.

The fact was, I couldn't use the Overcharge skill to make extra money by selling some items I had in my inventory. With only 945 Zenys left, I would need to spend days completing quests and quests, leveling up to get more money and skill points. To unlock the Overcharge ability, I would need to distribute three skill points into Enlarge Weight Limit first.

I decided to invest my only skill point, which I gained from becoming a Merchant, into the Item Appraisal skill . After all, I had an unknown club and needed to use this skill to discover its attributes. Before identifying the item, I decided to go to the inn and wait for Rox, so that we could decide together what to do next: dedicate to exploring other places to level up or carry out quests around Prontera to get more money.

Skill Obtained: Item Appraisal
Skill Form: Active
Type: Supportive
Description: Identifies unknown items using SP10.

Upon arriving at the inn where I was staying, I found Tayla leaving quickly. Before walking through the door, she saw me.

"Mister Azoth, I'm leaving now, but Rox asked me to leave a message. He said his Class Upgrade would last for a week and therefore he would be unavailable for 7 days."

I thanked Tayla for the message. Rox's Class Upgrade process was very long, which meant I would have to go out on my own for now. As a result, I decided that it would be best to focus my efforts this week on leveling up and accumulating enough points to acquire the Overcharge skill. With it, I could sell some items from my inventory for a higher price, which would help me acquire better equipment faster.

I paid for just one more day of my stay, knowing that from now on, there would be no more time for the comfort of inns. It was time to start adventuring regularly. After paying, I had 745 Zeny left. I decided that I would spend the next few days in the plains of Prontera, camping and hunting to strengthen myself. My goal was to return with the necessary class level to finally sell the items accumulated in my inventory with the Overcharge Skill.

Before that, I needed to check the three-slot club I had found. I used the Item Appraisal skill and discovered that it had 23 attack, which was higher than my knife, which only had 17. However, the club was significantly heavier. Even so, I chose to use it, as the knife was in poor condition.

Before going to sleep, I decided to go to the Cycles Entity to reset my attributes. When I got there, I noticed some adventurers. They would approach the statue, kneel for five seconds and then quickly stand up. I imitated the process, and as soon as I closed my eyes, I felt all my attributes being drained. It was as if all my energy was being channeled into a cup, ready to be retrieved at any moment.

As a merchant, my only combat skill was Mammonite, a powerful skill, but I still haven't used a skill point to learn it due to its cost per usage. At first level, it allowed me to inflict a melee blow with a 150% attack bonus, but it cost me 100 Zenys and 5 MP per use.

but since a merchant has no magical abilities, I decided to distribute all attribute points largely into strength and dexterity.

With everything planned for the next day, I went to sleep to start my journey renewed.

...

I woke up early today. Now with a clear path in mind, I got myself ready and headed straight to the GateWatchers Guild, heading towards the Prontera Plains. Upon arriving, I was struck by the contrast again. The air was incredibly clean, very unlike the constant pollution of Einbroch, an industrial city. The green expanse of the plains was almost a refuge, a visual and physical respite.

Knowing that there were always quests related to the monsters I wanted to defeat, I decided not to go to the Guild to get a quest right away. My main goal was to gain experience by fighting the creatures. At the end of each day, I would check to see if any of the items I collected were part of a quest. If there was nothing relevant, I would sell them at the market.

...

Three days later, at the end of my journey, I returned from the plains. I was exhausted, but still hopeful of finding a quest that accepted the items I had obtained. The fight was difficult, especially being alone. On several occasions, I had to hunt Porings to gain experience without risking my life too much. I was already at my limit; If I had faced stronger monsters I would have to consume potions or stop early. So I stuck to Porings until I leveled up and restored my HP and MP.

As I leveled up, I got back to facing stronger monsters again, mainly as the Fabres, Lunatics, and when I was lucky, Alpha Lunatics.

I managed to reach base level 14 and class level 8. I distributed the 3 skill points into Enlarge Weight Limit and decided to allocate the other points when I arrived in Einbroch, because, unlike the attribute points, to reset my skills in the merchant guild, I would need to pay a considerable amount.

Skill Obtained: Enlarge Weight limit
Skill Form: Passive
Type: Utility
Description: Enhances Weight Limit.

I got a lot of items during my exploration. The positive side of being alone is that I don't have to share loot with anyone, which is great. I believe that this time I won't be in need for a few days and I'll finally be able to do what I do best: trade.

Upon arriving at the Viperspire Guild Mansion, I checked the digital board to see which quests were available. I saw that there were two that I could complete, offering 1200 Zeny in total. Furthermore, since I had collected Fly Wings and some equipment, I could sell them for a considerable amount and ensure my survival for a few days.

As I left the guild, I noticed a registration table and became curious. I approached to ask.

"Hi, what is this inscription for?" I asked the man behind the desk.

"Hello! I am the guild recruiter. To participate in the entrance test, you must be level 25. Would you like to participate?" he replied.

"Actually, I haven't reached the required level yet, but when I do, I will definitely participate in the selection." I replied, feeling a little frustrated, it was a great opportunity to meet new people

"Great! As soon as you reach the required level, come back here. We'll be waiting!" he said, nodding his head.

By joining a guild, I could progress faster by joining a group to go on an expedition. Solo leveling with a not very combat-focused class like mine would be too hard. Maybe I should take a more supporting role in an expedition group?

Chapter 10: Market Strategies
created a P4tre0n. I've added chapter 11 there for now, but I'll add more later. Please help me if you can afford it, it's very cheap: patreon . com / santotris (without spaces)

I arrived at Einbroch late in the afternoon, satisfied with the gains from the last few days gathering items. I confess that, in the game, hunting monsters and collecting their drops was much more fun. In this world, everything takes so long, it's way more of a chore. Maybe joining an expedition will make things more interesting.

When I got back to the inn, I decided I wouldn't reserve rooms in advance anymore since I'd be busy hunting monsters and camping.

Counting my Zenys, I saw that I still had 1,345. After paying for another night, I had 945 left. As for the money, I wasn't too worried. Tomorrow I planned to go to the market and I was sure that I would come back with a good profit.

---

The next morning, I woke up determined to put all my remaining skill points into the Overcharge skill. Now, with a 5 points added to the skill, I could sell my items for an additional 15% profit.

Before leaving, I took a look at the Merchant options on my Status Plate and reviewed the items in my inventory to decide where to sell them. Unlike the game, there are no NPCs to sell here. You trade directly with people or other merchants. Only merchants have access to sales and purchases via the Status Plate, and while I don't fully understand how this works, it would be much better if it was an option available to all classes. It seems like another way to monopolize trade and leave other classes out.

The truth is that the Merchant Class has always been one of the least chosen. Blacksmiths and Alchemists are not very popular in expeditions, as they are more supporting classes.

After seeing that most of my items had potential buyers interested in them at the Einbroch market, I left the inn and headed towards the market. After a few minutes of walking, I saw the market. It was located on a suburban street in Einbroch, a place dominated by industrial buildings and heavy machinery. The air had a faint smell of oil and burnt metal, typical of the industry. Stalls were lined up along the street, mixing elements of traditional commerce with steampunk tech. They were metal and glass structures, some covered in neon signs that flashed with advertisements for items and prices.

I opened my Status Plate and looked for the numbers of the stalls that were interested in purchasing my items. The closest one was number 7. I approached the totem, where there were two options: buy or sell. I selected sell, and the most valuable items in my inventory appeared: Rainbow Carrots. A very rare item, with a drop rate of just 1%. I had gotten it once together with Rox, and again later, while exploring by myself. One carrot alone was worth 1,250 Zenys, so by selling the two I had with the 15% from Overcharge, I got over 2,800 Zenys.

After visiting the other stalls and selling almost all of my items, I made a good amount of money. I was relieved, because after today, it wouldn't go back into the triple digits. Now, finally, I could explore a little more of this world without worrying so much about housing costs.

It was already the fourth day since Rox went to make his class transition. It seemed like the other classes could require more than just a simple ritual like tossing a coin.

There are still three days until he returns. Ideally, I would continue leveling up, but I need to venture into a slightly denser area of the jungle in the Plains of Prontera. I'll have to face slightly stronger monsters. Now that I've managed to save a reasonable amount of money, I can better prepare myself to fight them alone, without wasting time.

I remember that deeper into the Plains of Prontera, stronger monsters could be found in the slightly denser jungle. I need to prepare beforehand. First, I'll go to the Smoke Sentinels Adventurer's Guild to find out what monsters I can face alone, and then buy equipment that are suitable against them.

"Look who's here! He's become a merchant! Very unusual for someone who likes exploring so much. Tell me, what's your plan? Because Merchants are usually freight carrier on expeditions," she said, winking.

What she said was the truth, but I had a plan for after Rox got back. With his help, I would be able to carry it out.

"Well, it's not that I want to reveal my plan to you," I replied, putting on a superior pose, trying to hide my smile. "But I foresee exponential growth for myself. An inflection point, and from there, it will be difficult to catch up."

"I hope it doesn't take so long," she said, with a smile that reminded her of an anxious aunt waiting for good news. "But then, what do you need?"

"I came to get information about monsters from a certain area of the Prontera Plains," I replied, pointing to my Status Plate.

"You know that this information is not free, right? You only have free access if there is a quest and the person responsible for the quest provides the monster's information to facilitate the completion of the quest," Rose said, as if explaining something obvious.

Although I found what she said weird, after thinking of it, it was was true. In the quests, I had only found information about the monsters I had to hunt, and in Viperspire, some of the quests I took didn't have information about certain monsters. For example, they had no info on the Alpha Lunatic, and the doubt persisted in my mind.

"Who gets to collect this information?" I asked, with a touch of curiosity.

"Anyone can gather information about monsters, including you," Rose explained. "But the accuracy of the data depends on the experience and skill of the gatherer. Many adventurers can gather basic information about common creatures, but there is a considerable difference when it comes to bosses. These rare monsters, which only appear on specific occasions or in hard-to-reach areas, make data gathering more difficult. In these cases, it takes more preparation and often group work to get truly reliable information about their abilities, attack patterns, and weaknesses."

It was only natural that someone would have to take on this responsibility. In the game, we had a database at our fingertips, but here in the real world, information had to be collected in the field and stored manually. The idea that anyone could try seemed appealing, but I recognized that Professors, with their specific training and tools, really seemed ideally suited to do this job more accurately.

"Okay, so what's the value of information about the monsters of the Prontera Plains?" I asked.

"The information we have from the Plains is the cheapest, as it is in a busy location. It only costs 500 Zenys," she replied, with an almost triumphant tone of voice.

'Things only get more and more complicated' I thought, feeling the pressure building. It seems like as time passes, I need more and more things, which are also more and more expensive, and at a high rate. I stiil needed the information, so I bought it and had it transfered to my Status Plate. Now I had info on all of the monsters in the Prontera Plains jungle area é.

Looking at the information on my Status Plate, I saw that there was a promising location in the Prontera Plains called PRT_FILD08. The monsters there had stats that indicated I could defeat them, and I could gain a good amount of experience without spending money on potions. It was ideal for me.

I opened my Status Plate again and started checking the Merchant stalls for good, affordable equipment that would allow me to spend as much time as possible in that location. After reviewing everything, I wasted no time and went straight to the market once again. Today would be shopping day.

Chapter 11: The Cost of Defense
patreon . com / santotris (without spaces)

I needed a few essential equipment: armor, a cape, boots, and a shield. However, since I'm using a 3-slot club, I wouldn't be able to use a shield; To do this, you would have to choose a sword or a dagger. I considered the shield a good option, since my goal was to avoid damage and not need to resort to potions.

Therefore, I would need to invest a lot in my defense to ensure that my HP would last until my next level up. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but I realized that the shields were quite expensive, and, adding everything up, the total would be 2,100 Zenys.

Before purchasing the shield, I needed to identify the sword and clubs that I had obtained on my last expedition.

The sword had stats of 25 attack and 2 STR, in addition to having 4 card slots, a mechanic I knew from the game but hadn't yet delved into since arriving here to compare. Regardless, the sword I just revealed was definitely better than my two-handed club.

The other equipment identified was a 4-slot Mace, with 23 Attack and 1 STR. It was better than the one I was using, which had 3 slots and 23 Attack. I'll keep it for now, but it won't be long before I sell it.

I went to the stalls that sold the equipment I needed and bought them: shoes, hood, shoulder pads and jacket. After that, I went to the inn, as I still had to stay for another day.

After paying for another day, I went up to my room, where I planned my next steps and got ready for bed.

...

I woke up very early and took a look at my stats, now upgraded by my new equipment. My defense was reasonable. I could have chosen better equipment, but that would have made my weight excessive, which would have affected my attack speed. Overall, I was pretty satisfied by my new specs.

I then went to the Gatewatchers guild and spent 200 Zeny to get to the Viperspire Camp.

When I arrived there, I noticed that there were a lot more people than last time. It was a huge crowd, with several tents and many beginning adventurers. It wasn't like before. 'are the Terrans finally spreading around?' I thought. I looked around, noticing the excited buzz and excited faces of the newbies, as if they had finally found their place.

I didn't plan to enter the mansion, as I had no intention of doing quests. I just wanted to kill monsters to level up faster. What I dropped on this expedition, I would evaluate; If there were no quests related to the items I found, I would sell them, since, as a merchant, I would make a considerable profit.

While walking through the camp towards the FILD08 zone, I bumped into Mary, who was leaving the lodge and going straight to the mansion. She asked me, "Hey, kid! I remember you. Our guild is hiring adventurers. Interested in joining?"

"I would like to, but I don't have enough level yet. However, when I reach it, if they are still recruiting, I will make a point of participating in the selection."

"What's your level?"

"I'm level 14."

"You're almost there. If you spend more than 5 days killing monsters, you might make it." Mary said this with her chin resting between her fingers, thoughtfully.

"No way! I can't get 11 levels in 5 days." I said with a nervous laugh escaping my lips because the idea was a bit absurd based on my experience here in this world. Each level up demanded a lot of time and effort.

"11 levels? No, no! We've changed it. With the huge increase in adventurers, we decided to recruit more. It was just revealed we are about to have a Crystal Sundering, so we have lowered the requirement to 20. All guilds are relaxing the criteria because of that, and also to attract some Otherwolders with potential."

"Crystal Sundering? What does that mean?"

"Crystal Sundering is an exceptionally rare event that occurs intermittently. During this phenomenon, ambient mana within the Warps condenses at an accelerated rate, significantly increasing the number of dungeons and monsters formed through Magic Crystallization. Upon their defeat, the mana composing these creatures erupts violently, though only individuals attuned to mana can perceive this burst. The disturbance in the mana causes the surrounding ambient mana to crystallize into monsters at an even faster pace, simultaneously heightening their aggression."

5 "The researchers from various Professors' Guilds concluded that the imminent Crystal Sundering was triggered by the arrival of the Otherworlders. Numerous theories have emerged in an attempt to explain the nature of this phenomenon, with many linking it to population growth." Mary explained, a excited smile hinting at the challenge and opportunities the event presented.

"How long does this phenomenon last?" I leaned in slightly, eager for more details.

"Years. The last time it occurred, adventurers struggled to adapt - everywhere became far more dangerous, especially the areas with aggressive monsters. As time went on, the mana grew increasingly unstable, generating more and more monsters and dungeons until it peaked after five years. Although the increase continued beyond that point, it did so at a slower pace until stabilizing after another five years. Make no mistake, though; things never returned to the way they were before. The Magic Crystallization rate remained permanently higher than it had been prior to the event!"

She explained it with such excitement, as if she couldn't wait to announce to the world what was coming. I understand it presents a world of opportunity, but... won't it become incredibly dangerous? From Rose's explanation, it sounded like Dungeons posed quite a big threat if left alone for long...

Either way, I just need to accelerate my development! Luckily, I got this equipment that will help me a lot on my expeditions. "Thanks, Mary! I'll hurry to reach level 20." I smiled at her, feeling my determination renewed.

Then I went to a place where I could face monsters alone and focus on gaining experience.

I identified some of the creatures showing up there: Savage Babe, Rocker, Elusive Rocker and Vocal. Among them all, the only one I needed to avoid at all costs was Vocal. It was a monster with 3,317 HP, far beyond what I could handle at the moment. His attack was incredibly powerful compared to my level, and since he was aggressive, the best option would be to run if I saw him.

As I walked, I noticed that there were many adventurers in the area. This gave me a certain peace of mind, because if something got out of control, I could ask for help. Most of the adventurers were in pairs or trios, probably also looking to gain experience, as the item drop rate in this zone was very low.

I continued walking towards a less crowded place, as it was difficult to find monsters in the starting area. Suddenly, I spotted my first opponent: a Savage Babe, a small pink creature that resembled a piglet. Its stats were reasonable for my level: 127 HP, 55 attack, 22 defense, and it granted experience. I was currently at 1785 experience and needed 2304 to level up. I decided to tackle him as a warm-up; it was not my real target in that zone.

I drew my sword and held tight to the shield, preparing for the fight. I attacked first, dealing damage to Savage Babe. He tried to attack me back, but my defense completely absorbed the impact, leaving me confident. I landed three more hits, each one dealing the same amount of damage. I managed to block all its attacks, so it was defeated without dealing me any damage. The equipment I bought seemed to be more than enough for this zone, and I concluded that I should be able to spend a long time here solo leveling.

However, my real target for leveling up faster was another one: the Elusive Rocker. It didn't appear very often, but I knew I would be able to defeat it without endangering my life, and getting a lot of experience. Now I just needed to find it.

I continued walking and observing the other adventurers around. I noticed a trio facing a Vocal: a swordsman, and 2 thieves. The swordsman seemed extremely well equipped, with an impressive defense, absorbing Vocal's blows with ease. They fought for a few minutes and, despite the difficulty one would normally have with a Vocal, they managed to defeat him with some ease. Clearly, that swordsman was the most prepared in terms of equipment in the group.

"Come on! If we keep this up, we can reach level 20 by nightfall!"—exclaimed the swordsman excitedly.

I watched them for a moment, thinking, 'As expected, they're aspiring to join Viperspire. How many members does it already have?" I speculated for a moment. The guild was located in the largest beginner adventurer zone in the region, so it was probably among the top ten in that region in terms of members. However, quantity is not always synonymous with quality.
