A/N: This is the fruit of a restless mind. Please take not this fic is never intended to be a serious one, in adhering to the canon as well as story line.

Part 1, 2 & 3

He is called by many names. God, Almighty, Kami-sama, lord of the Gods, ruler of Heaven, or simply Tyr. He is a husband, a father, a leader and he is also… bored.

Ever since he came up with the brilliant idea and implemented Yggdrasil to run the countless multiverse for him, he found himself with lots and lots of spare time. And such he rests his cheek on his hand, flick out a screen oh his work terminal and browses through some of the multiverse.

Each universe is unique. Some of them are young, recently created by Yggdrasil, while some of them are near its end. That however, is beside the point.

"Hm… girls tricked by different species for their soul energy… Lind is handling it. World filled with sail ships but with cyborgs… not interested. And this one…." Tyr mutters when the holographic screen is showing a normal looking Japanese boy.

However, that boy is nothing but normal and Tyr knows it. In a few days' time, he will be called towards his destiny, a task so great and painful that it'll break any sane man. In fact, it is the introverted nature of the boy that will prevent him from lashing out too soon.

Oh… Tyr begin to feel a grin is forming on his face. He'll going to have some fun in this. After all, he'll be doing nothing but ruins that man's layers of plan to decimate humanity of the universe, and messes with old farts that trying to attain false Godhood.

Yes, that boy will be his agent.

He smiles…

One thing that he thanks Hild for, apart from their daughter, is the enjoyment of trolling.

***

Alone… always alone.

Shinji Ikari, age 14, walks by himself from the school. It's just another day for him, same old routine as usual.

Unlike others, he is not the one who spends most of his free time with group of friends. Not because of he's arrogant, but he is unsure of whether his acquaintances really want him to hang out with them or not. Even if they do, he doubts he can contribute anything.

And so, he choose to keep them at certain length without barging in too close.

He let his mind wonders, thinking about the assignments, how his classmates are thinking about him, how his teachers view him and others stuff. Which… makes him unaware that he took a wrong turn somewhere and finds himself in a clearing of a forest close to his 'sensei' house

He blinks, and blinks a little bit more while his brain is thinking about how on earth he manage to veer off from his trek and ends up there.

Failed to find any definite answer, he simply shrug and decides to take a nap under a tree. The weather is nice for such thing anyway, especially with the gentle wind blowing, rustling the leaves that creates the peaceful atmosphere.

Until something circular, filled with intricate patterns begins to glow just in front of him.

***

A man appears.

An honest to goodness man appears out of thin air, barely few dozen feet from where he is lying on the grass.

Shinji pushes himself up from and stares dumbly.

'Uh… what the fark?' he mentally asks himself at the man's sudden appearance, trying to come up with a logical explanation for the phenomena. He notices the man is dressed in one of the ridiculous fantasy cosplay costume. Apart from that, there are some facial marks on that man's face.

If there is anyone observing Shinji and the mysterious man that afternoon, he or she will see them chat for a short moments, with Shinji's reaction range from surprise, shock and incredulity. Then, the man let out a mischievous grin before a glowing mandala lights up beneath the two and they disappear in flash of white light.

Before the boy reappear back at the same spot several minutes later.

At a glance, he is still in his school uniform, and his body doesn't change from when he disappeared. At a close look however, his ears are pierced, there is a viridian, diamond shaped mark on his forehead and he is standing with more self-confidence.

Much more.

"Huh… seems like nothing has changed at all," Shinji mused out loudly as he takes a good look at his surroundings. His mouth quirks into a smile when he sees something that should not be there. "And hey, my old schoolbag."

'Of course, you've been away from this world no more than a few minutes,' a soft, feminine voice quips into his mind.

Once again, Shinji blinks.

'Really?' he asks with some bewilderment to the voice. 'I was away like… five years.'

'Of course it is… You should know time travel is nothing for him, if he wants to do it,' the voice says with a twinkle of amusement.

Shinji grimaces. 'Oh, oh… sorry, my bad. I forgot about that.'

The only reply he gets is a pleasant snigger.

Then, he let out a smile, covers the mark on his forehead with a simple illusion spell and walks away to his 'sensei' house.

Oh, he picks the bag up as well.

Part 4 & 5
Part 4 & 5

'I'm starting to think this is a nothing more than a prank,' Shinji said to his occupant. Few days before, he was summoned here, to Tokyo-3 by his father. However, upon his arrival, he finds himself standing in an empty city.

There are signs of human activities not long before his arrival. He can clearly see there are cars everywhere on the street. However, all of them are abandoned. Hastily as well, he muses, if the still opened doors or running engine from several vehicles are of any indicator.

'Your surprise birthday party, perhaps?' the voice tries to supply helpfully.

'Ran… My father never wish me a happy birthday ever since that day. I don't think he's going to start it anytime soon,' Shinji replies to the angel. It's a simple name, but easily reflects their affinity to water. Shinji however, has another affinity as well.

While her name means water lily in Japanese, he did learn is it also a name for a water goddess not long after he registered the name.

Ran gives him a mental shrug of her shoulders. 'Well… worth a shot. By the way, do you notice it?'

'Yeah… It is strong…' Shinji replied as he nods his head. Like Ran, he is able to sense the life force of the being, which mankind erroneously calls it as Angel. For him, it is nothing more than very powerful alien life being.

Idly, he pulls out a postcard with a picture of a woman in a risqué position. He lets an amused huff. While the woman is surely beautiful, she has nothing when compared to the goddesses or Ran.

"Please wait for me huh…" he comments on the message scribbled on the picture before he pockets it back and adds, "well, sorry in advance, I guess it's you who's going to wait."

After all, he has an alien to put down.

***

Standing on top of a multi-storey building, Shinji is able to catch sight of the so called Angel. "Ugh… ugly," he says with a mild distaste at its appearance. Above him, myriads of fighters, VTOL crafts and bombers are trying to destroy it with wave after wave of missiles. So far, they failed to do anything.

If there is anything they managed to do, is giving the Angel some mild annoyance.

'Well, for an 'angel', it sure is,' Ran chimes in dryly and Shinji knows she is frowning in disapproval at the sight. Then, she adds 'so, what are we going to do?'

"Hm… I'd love to seal it into a CD, cassette tape or something, but I don't think there is someone strong enough for to hold it back while we're doing the sealing," Shinji replies as he crosses his hands in contemplation. Then, he blows out a short huff. "Well, its killy time I guess."

'Oohh…. Now that is more like it,' Ran says with full anticipation.

Ignoring the fact that he is visible to the aircraft above, Shinji leaps into the air, Ran's pure white wings spread majestically on his back.

Meanwhile in a place located at some distance away, dozens of people are looking at a large screen. On it, there is a smaller video insert showing something that makes all the people lost their words.

"Gendo, I don't think your son sprouting wings is mentioned anywhere in the scenario," Kozo Fuyutsuki says in a voice just loud enough for Gendo alone to hear.

Gendo's left eyebrow twitches.

Part 6 & 7

All around him, the UN aircraft, tanks, rocket launchers and APCs all ceased their fire. There is no surprise, the sight of a human with wings, flying as he is making his way towards the Angel is definitely a show stopper.

Shinji pays them no mind, though he prefers if they can pull their distance back because they're no match for the Angel, as well as the wish to avoid accidental friendly fire on his part.

'Shinji, are we going straight for the big bomb?' Ran asks excitedly.

'Uh, no. That'll be messy. And I don't think the locals are going to appreciate if their city blocks are levelled by a tsunami,' he calmly replied to his angel.

'Boo…' Ran replies with a mental pout.

It takes Shinji of his willpower not to snigger at the angel, though he settles himself with a smile. For a divine being, Ran certainly has unnatural love for fighting, overkill and properties damage.

As he opens his palms, Shinji summons his weapon that serves as his magic focus. A rod of blue bronze colour appears in his grip. It is a simple design but topped with ornately carved ring shaped head.

Shinji gives it a purposeful horizontal swing and a crescent shaped, icy blue blade of magically infused water flies across the distance, slicing the Angel's right knee off from the rest of its body.

Losing its balance, Sachiel falls flat to the earth, face first.

***

Shinji decides to end the Angel then and there as he doesn't have the desire to make any fight unnecessarily drawn out.

"I hate to do this to you… though I pray you'll find peace on the other side," he gently says to the Angel below him before he levels his Cloud Staff at Sachiel.

Two small, blue magical circles layered on top of each other flares into life as Shinji concentrate some of his power at the tip of Cloud Staff's head. "Aqua… LANCE!" Shinji calls out the attack as he releases the spell.

Despite its name, the lance is shaped more like an oversized arrow. It flies straight and true towards the Angel's torso before it strikes an octagonal barrier. The impact causes the barrier to crack with dozens of fracture lines, though his spell also loses much of its energy in return.

'Ran, that is…' Shinji calls out to his angel.

'Mm! Its spirit barrier… well, we should have use a stronger attack. Shinji, I think maybe we should…'

Instead of crushing the core, the lance pierces through it and leaves a neat hole straight through the red organ. Sachiel jerks back in shock and pain when its core, the container of its soul is pierced. Using its AT field, it quickly lifts itself off the ground towards the not quite Lilim above it.

Seconds later, Shinji utters out exactly two words, "oh shit."

Part 8, 9 & 10
"Impossible…" One of the JSSDF Generals utters out, partly in awe, and partly in fear of the implied strength behind the attack that defeated the Angel's AT field.

"What the hell is that boy?"

"Another Angel?"

"Who cares, seems like he's on our side."

Fuyutsuki gives the three men a brief glance before he turns his head back to the front. "Looks like we have an interesting development in our hand," he calmly voices out, as if he is talking about morning weather on a normal day.

The person he is talking to however, remains silent. Only his stapled fingers that turn into a barely perceptible tighter grip betrays his reaction. In the end, he stands up from his seat and address the NERV vice commander. "It doesn't matter, have Misato brings him here as instructed."

One of the UN General shoot up from his set, whirls around and then he explodes angrily, "are you out of your freaking mind?! That boy is dangerous and he can be a threat, he needs to be detained and isolated!"

Unfazed by the outburst, Gendo looks at the older man impassively. "It's all the more reason for him to be here. He already proved himself capable of fighting toe to toe with the Angel, do you want to antagonize him?" Gendo asks challengingly, though his voice remains level and his face is the stone mask of his usual impassiveness.

When there is nothing but silence comes from the General, he decides to continue, "by keeping him here, NERV can keep a close eye on him."

"And secure more fund for your organization? Do you think I don't know you want to put him on the operation table?" the General counters with a barely hidden snarl.

Gendo pushes his eyes glasses before he answers, "that is not the point. But if we can figure out how he can use all of that power, we can apply it to defend humanity. Remember, NERV's function is exactly for things like this, to combat the Angels, it is important to make sure the boy is on our side."

For a few seconds, the air inside the control room fall into tensed silence as both leaders are trading gaze, refusing to back down from their stance before the General backs down. "Hmph! Fine, but if anything happens, that will be your responsibility to clean up the mess."

"I'm expecting no less," Gendo replies dismissively before he switch his focus from the seething General and back to the main display, which currently focusing on Shinji.

"Ouch… ouch ouch…" Shinji hisses under his breath and chokes on the dust that managed to get into his mouth. After he spews it out by reflex, he picks himself up from the debris, and grimaces at the ache and pain from being thrown at high speed by the pressure wave. 'It's like after a sparring session with the Valkyries.'

The explosion barely a minute before took him completely by surprise. He counts himself lucky. If not for the barrier that he managed to erect in time, he knows it will hurt a lot more than that.

'So much for no collateral damage,' he grumbles to himself. All around him, several blocks worth of area was levelled by the blast. Nothing are left standing, only scorch marks, concrete piles and slags remains.

'Well… but it's still a big boom though. A nice one, with cross shape and all that,' Ran decides to chime in. 'We really should do it again later.'

Shinji shakes his head, trust Ran to enjoy something like that.

If he knew how the battle is going to play out, he would use one of his strongest attack and squash the so called Angel at the earliest possibility. Shinji draws a deep breath and blows out a huff. He knows it's useless to cry over a spilled milk.

As he looks up, the jet-VTOL heavy fighters are circling around him. He can sense the apprehension, fear and confusion from the pilots, though he can also sense relief and jubilation as well. 'Well, at least they're not firing,' he silently says to himself and Ran.

With that, he calmly lifts himself off from the ground and flies back to the pickup point, fully aware that he is still under the watchful gaze of UN aircraft.

***

When he arrives, he finds a woman is sitting on the road, hugging her knee close to her chest and staring forlornly at a blue car in front of her. The car obviously had better days because at the moment, its engine compartment is flattened like a pancake, squashed by a fallen jet-VTOL heavy fighter.

Shinji recognizes she's the one who supposed to pick him up.

"Uh…. Miss?" he asks.

"Go away…" she weakly says, not even bother to take a look at him.

Shinji sighs. It's clear the woman is lamenting the fate of her car. "Uh… Maybe you can make a claim with the insurance later?"

She tilts her head back and stares at him with teary eyes. "No, insurance doesn't put war as part of their package."

"What about kaiju attack?"

"They're not even going to believe it, this is classifies stuff anyway," she replies before she looks back at her car. "And I still have 33 payments to make…" she mumbles sadly under her breath, just loud enough for Shinji to hear it.

Shinji scratches the back of his head, debating with himself whether to show more of his abilities or not. However, the miserable sight on the woman's face is enough for him to make his decision. "I see… Well, step aside for a bit."

"Huh, what can you do, it's no use…"

"Just watch," Shinji answers with a confidant smile.

Minutes later….

"WOHOOOO!!! It's like driving a brand new car. You're weird Shinji, really weird. But I'll be damned if your weirdness isn't useful!" Misato yells in joy as she pulls another high G, high speed, ninety degree drift on a junction.

And thus Shinji screams in terror for his dear life while in his head, Ran squee in excitement.

Part 11 & 12
Shinji has to admit, the GeoFront is an impressive piece of architecture no matter what is its origin. Furthermore, the underground lake and forest add to the beauty of the place.

Right now however, even when most of his attention is on the NERV manual, he notices Misato is leading him in circles along the maze-like corridors, elevators and travelator inside the NERV headquarters.

For a moment, he wonders whether the woman is trying to mislead him before he realizes Misato simply lost her way around.

"So…" Shinji begins, trying to break the silence between him and the blue haired woman. Ever since she got past her shock and joy for her restored car, she seems to be maintaining a certain distance from him. When Misato appears to be ignoring him, Shinji shrugs and continue to read the NERV manual.

'You can't blame her, the fact that she doesn't freak out is a credit good enough,' Ran says.

'I know. But we already passed this same spot three times, just how many times it takes before she realize she's been walking in circle?' he asks with mild exasperation.

'Well, you can use the time to rehearse on what to talk to your old man.'

'I don't know… Something like "Well dad, it's been years." sounds like something too cliché for me.'

***

"Well dad, it's been years, isn't it?" Shinji drawls lazily to the man who is sitting in front of him. The older man is wearing orange tinted eyeglasses, and Shinji notes it reflects the light at a perfect angle to hide his father's eyes from observation.

Right now, Shinji and a nervous Misato are in the man's office, made possible only when both of them were rescued by a blonde doctor, who introduced herself as Doctor Ritsuko Akagi.

'Hm… I think I heard the word cliché back there…'

Shinji suppresses himself from making an overt sigh. 'Ran, quiet, or you'll have to groom yourself tonight,'

'Mmmmph, Shinji's a meanie…' the angel pouts and Shinji almost makes an apology before Gendo's words snap his attention back.

"Indeed, three years I suppose," the bearded man calmly replies.

Shinji gives the older man one shoulder shrug. "Seems to be longer on my end. Anyway, I don't think you called me here just for a family reunion. You have things that are much more important than a family after all," he replies with a touch of bitterness.

Gendo lets out a small smirk and in return, Shinji simply rolls his eyes, though he is tempted to punch the man in the nose right there and then.

'Not even a trace of guilt,' Shinji silently comments.

"Of course, it's something that only you can do. Shinji, will you help your father?"

Part 13 &14
"What if I don't?" Shinji enquires. Even so, he has no intention to refuse the 'request' and just walks away because he wants to get some explanations from the soul within the Eva.

"Well… I can't force you into it. But with my sole pilot down…" Gendo speaks as he brings up an image of a blue haired girl wrapped in bandages, who is staring blankly into the ceiling, "…I don't know when next Angel will strike, if she's not available and you're nowhere to help. Then, the world is going to end."

Shinji takes a deep breath before he slowly exhales. "I see. Fine, I'll do it."

Gendo smiles satisfactorily before he nods, once. "Good. Report to Doctor Akagi after this and for your lodging…"

"Your room will be in the 6th block, just right next of this one," a NERV officer announces.

Instead of personally informs Shinji the whereabouts his new accommodation, Gendo simply tells him to meet the officer.

"I don't really mind if I have to live by myself. But, can you arrange an above ground accommodation. I'd like to see the sunlight rather than living like a mole," Shinji politely requests after he reads his room address.

The man looks over at him for a minute before he sighs. "We have several houses in the northern section, but they're in poor condition, I don't thi-"

"It's alright. I can live with that," Shinji cuts the man off and once again, Shinji finds himself under the gaze of the NERV officer.

"Fine, but don't you dare to come and complain to me if the house caves in while you're sleeping."

***

"Well, that's the end of it, you can go back to your apartment now," Doctor Ritsuko Akagi dismisses Shinji.

"Mm," he replies curtly before he decides to leave the blonde scientist alone. After what appears to be hour upon hour of health checks, DNA sampling and whatnots, Shinji finally finds himself free for the rest of the day.

"And don't forget your first synchronization test is tomorrow," the Ritsuko calls out before Shinji is able to close the laboratory's door.

'Synch test huh…' he mulls over Ritsuko's words. He is, in fact, looking forward for it because there is something that he wants to do. At the same time however, he is unsure how she will respond to all of the changes he had experienced.

'You're disturbed,' Ran speaks softly.

'Yeah, quite a bit,' Shinji admits freely. Being his angel, he knows Ran is very much aware of his emotional state so there is no point for him to deny it. Then, he adds with steely resolve, 'but it must be done. I really want to have some personal words with her.'

And with that determination, Shinji decides to call it a day, only to come face to face with Misato when he is about to enter an elevator.
