"Impossible…" One of the JSSDF Generals utters out, partly in awe, and partly in fear of the implied strength behind the attack that defeated the Angel's AT field.
"What the hell is that boy?"
"Another Angel?"
"Who cares, seems like he's on our side."
Fuyutsuki gives the three men a brief glance before he turns his head back to the front. "Looks like we have an interesting development in our hand," he calmly voices out, as if he is talking about morning weather on a normal day.
The person he is talking to however, remains silent. Only his stapled fingers that turn into a barely perceptible tighter grip betrays his reaction. In the end, he stands up from his seat and address the NERV vice commander. "It doesn't matter, have Misato brings him here as instructed."
One of the UN General shoot up from his set, whirls around and then he explodes angrily, "are you out of your freaking mind?! That boy is dangerous and he can be a threat, he needs to be detained and isolated!"
Unfazed by the outburst, Gendo looks at the older man impassively. "It's all the more reason for him to be here. He already proved himself capable of fighting toe to toe with the Angel, do you want to antagonize him?" Gendo asks challengingly, though his voice remains level and his face is the stone mask of his usual impassiveness.
When there is nothing but silence comes from the General, he decides to continue, "by keeping him here, NERV can keep a close eye on him."
"And secure more fund for your organization? Do you think I don't know you want to put him on the operation table?" the General counters with a barely hidden snarl.
Gendo pushes his eyes glasses before he answers, "that is not the point. But if we can figure out how he can use all of that power, we can apply it to defend humanity. Remember, NERV's function is exactly for things like this, to combat the Angels, it is important to make sure the boy is on our side."
For a few seconds, the air inside the control room fall into tensed silence as both leaders are trading gaze, refusing to back down from their stance before the General backs down. "Hmph! Fine, but if anything happens, that will be your responsibility to clean up the mess."
"I'm expecting no less," Gendo replies dismissively before he switch his focus from the seething General and back to the main display, which currently focusing on Shinji.

"Ouch… ouch ouch…" Shinji hisses under his breath and chokes on the dust that managed to get into his mouth. After he spews it out by reflex, he picks himself up from the debris, and grimaces at the ache and pain from being thrown at high speed by the pressure wave. 'It's like after a sparring session with the Valkyries.'
The explosion barely a minute before took him completely by surprise. He counts himself lucky. If not for the barrier that he managed to erect in time, he knows it will hurt a lot more than that.
'So much for no collateral damage,' he grumbles to himself. All around him, several blocks worth of area was levelled by the blast. Nothing are left standing, only scorch marks, concrete piles and slags remains.
'Well… but it's still a big boom though. A nice one, with cross shape and all that,' Ran decides to chime in. 'We really should do it again later.'
Shinji shakes his head, trust Ran to enjoy something like that.
If he knew how the battle is going to play out, he would use one of his strongest attack and squash the so called Angel at the earliest possibility. Shinji draws a deep breath and blows out a huff. He knows it's useless to cry over a spilled milk.
As he looks up, the jet-VTOL heavy fighters are circling around him. He can sense the apprehension, fear and confusion from the pilots, though he can also sense relief and jubilation as well. 'Well, at least they're not firing,' he silently says to himself and Ran.
With that, he calmly lifts himself off from the ground and flies back to the pickup point, fully aware that he is still under the watchful gaze of UN aircraft.

When he arrives, he finds a woman is sitting on the road, hugging her knee close to her chest and staring forlornly at a blue car in front of her. The car obviously had better days because at the moment, its engine compartment is flattened like a pancake, squashed by a fallen jet-VTOL heavy fighter.
Shinji recognizes she's the one who supposed to pick him up.
"Uh…. Miss?" he asks.
"Go away…" she weakly says, not even bother to take a look at him.
Shinji sighs. It's clear the woman is lamenting the fate of her car. "Uh… Maybe you can make a claim with the insurance later?"
She tilts her head back and stares at him with teary eyes. "No, insurance doesn't put war as part of their package."
"What about kaiju attack?"
"They're not even going to believe it, this is classifies stuff anyway," she replies before she looks back at her car. "And I still have 33 payments to make…" she mumbles sadly under her breath, just loud enough for Shinji to hear it.
Shinji scratches the back of his head, debating with himself whether to show more of his abilities or not. However, the miserable sight on the woman's face is enough for him to make his decision. "I see… Well, step aside for a bit."
"Huh, what can you do, it's no use…"
"Just watch," Shinji answers with a confidant smile.
Minutes later….
"WOHOOOO!!! It's like driving a brand new car. You're weird Shinji, really weird. But I'll be damned if your weirdness isn't useful!" Misato yells in joy as she pulls another high G, high speed, ninety degree drift on a junction.
And thus Shinji screams in terror for his dear life while in his head, Ran squee in excitement.
