Kensuke you lucky dog! SV is kind to my bespeckled little friend it seems. So having read both of the KSK side chapters I will say that they were very sweet. Having heard some of the general plot through osmosis I admit that I had some doubts going in. But it came together very nicely, a very honest and sweet story. I also freely admit that I do not understand some of the greater contexts of some of the things regarding Rei's social machinations or what other purposes Sayaka and Kyoko have in the story but it was a good read even without them. And I say that as you could say a connoisseur of Kensuke related triads. He is an interesting character, I have not gone into his picture taking in depth like you have. I focus more on his relationship to the crazy world of NERV and the pilots in LDW for NME, playing up how that now with all that is going on he feels very much an outsider looking in. He knows that in some ways he will never really understand what Kaworu is going through or what happened to Mana but he loves them regardless and hopes that what little he can give them will be enough. I would continue to jaw at length about the various interpretations of the character and what kind of interactions KMK and KSK would have, but the bumper on the bottom and top of this thread is a scary thing and so I will say I will save more in depth things for my own domain. All in all good job and great work. Kensuke needs more hugs.

All I can think of, no matter how sweet that was, is that three people sleeping in a two person tent is going to get very cramped very fast.

"Kensuke! I appreciate the attempt at cuddling but get your elbow off my spine!"

I'd answer your concern, but then I'd have to report myself for infracting the rules.

Kensuke is always something of an outsider. He gets the same glimpse of how Piloting really hurts Shinji as Touji does during the fight with Shamshel, but he still looks at Piloting as some grand adventure he wishes he could have, not the heavy burden of repeated life-threatening soldiering it really is. Ironic, considering Kensuke's own military-otaku status.

Both here and in LDW, he's gotten a more serious, close-up look at things which has sobered him a lot, and made him think seriously about himself and the people around him. He's really getting off lightly here: Sayaka and Kyoko are just regular people here, in a world with no Incubators to make their lives end in tragedy. In LDW, Kensuke has to grapple with the fact the two people he's in love with have serious, potentially deadly problems in their lives that could rip them away from him in a moment. Just like in A&T, Kensuke has to take things seriously, and the weighing of that is forcing him to confront what kind of man he is and wants to be. Having people you love that depend on you is a huge, weighty thing, and luckily for both Kensukes, he's reaching the conclusion that the goal is worth the struggle.

Working on Hangover 2 next. A&T main is still cooking while I try to figure out one last scene I want to insert before Armisael comes knocking.

Bonus points for accuracy on the "post-coital-exhausted-yet-very-happy" pronunciation...
I speak it fluently. ;v

MisterHalt.exe has stopped working.
Excessive WAFF detected.

Sayaka giggled. "And not just for lunch, too. Last weekend Kyo-chan and I showed Kensuke how you can fit three people in a two-man tent when camping... if you're all friends," she said with a wink.
No surprise that it was hard to find; it was nearly 600 pages back.

"Strypgia you magnificent bastard! I read your fan fiction!"

The series does have a kind of active fanbase that I've frequented - I just seem to have bit of a picky standards, since the world-building is pretty good (if given overly exposition). So I kind of been wondering if to give this thing a shot - nice to see vocal interest though. My biggest concern however would be where I'd end the story, since the novels keep on being on-going.

But yeah, I certainly am tempted by the power of WAFF to completely change the course of franchises. @Strypgia, you bloody genius. ;)

I'd read that in a heartbeat.

But on the actual topic, belated thanks for a great update. Now that I've caught up with this story I can see why it has the reputation of being the correct universe and canon being a grimdark AU of it.

While i see your point i feel i must point out just because he want to be a pilot even after seeing what Shinji's going through doesn't mean he isn't taking it seriously. He could just be willing to accept all that comes with piloting cause he just really loves the idea.

Based on my experiences of Platonic Undergraduate Tetris, I would say that three not exactly heavily built teenagers in a two-adult tent should be pretty much fine, though.

Like i said before "it's more like fitting the equivalent of two people into a two man tent". Also add the fact they're snuggling, and too tired to toss and turn and it's not a big problem.
