Prologue: The Adventure Begins.

Deep in a forest, a fire flickered and burned brightly in the night. A single figure sat in front of the burning campfire, propped up against a rock, their face hidden by the shadows of the hood of an overly large purple jacket with orange stripes that went to their knees. Their legs were sprawled out on the ground, covered by faded jeans. An ornate street lantern, now turned into a staff, was resting against their shoulder, the lantern itself glowing softly. The sound of a twig snapping caused the figure to snap their head towards the sound. Clambering to their feet, their left hand grasped the staff, the lantern atop glowing brighter than before.

"No point in hiding anymore boys." A gruff voice spoke out, and men garbed in various leathers, wielding their assortment of shoddy weapons stepped out into the light. Their leader towered over the rather short wizard. "Now then, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way. We got wizards too, and outnumber ya, so you might as well just give us your stuff and we'll be on our way."

The mysterious wizard, shook their head, making a shoo gesture with their right hand. The lead bandit growled angrily at their dismissal.

"Fine then, we were gonna kill you anyway!" The bandit lunged forward, axe held above his head as he charged in. The unknown opponent batted the blow to the side, before slamming their right hand into the bandit's gut, and without saying a word, covered the bandit in ice. The other bandits rushed in, all attempting to get their hands on the target.

The wizard simply stood there, their lantern staff flashing brightly before a swarm of glowing birds burst free from the lantern, circling the summoner and exploding upon contact with the bandits. Several bandits equipped with bows gathered together, firing a volley of arrows at them. Lifting their right hand up, a cone of fire was launched, incinerating the arrows, and blocking sight of the archers' target. Winds swirled around the wizard, gathering force, before a large boulder appeared in their right hand, and the winds carried it forward, scattering the archers like bowling pins.

Holding their hand above their head, the hooded wizard let purple arcs of lightning gather in their palm, before whipping it down and electrocuting several bandits who had made it through the swarm of fairies. "Magic Lance!" shouted several bandit wizards as they launched bolts of magic in a coordinated attack on the foe who was devastating their forces. The wizard in the hoodie simply thrust their staff upward, a large yellow bubble popping into existence around them. As soon as the bolts of magic hit the bubble, they were reflected right back at their casters, slamming into them with the same force that they had put into it.

"Fucking die already!" One bandit yelled as they launch an axe at , successfully wounding their left leg as the axe goes straight through the yellow shield. The mysterious foe staggers, but does not fall. Instead, their right hand moves forward, a beam of red magic lancing forward, blasting the bandit unconscious. Then their staff is yet again thrust into the sky, and the unknown wizard glows green, their blood vanishing into thin air, the wound sealing shut, and the caster going right back into action.

Several bandits got a bit too close, and the hidden wizard pushes their hand out, a cone of water bursting forth at high speeds, sending them all flying back. Keeping up the spray of water, the wizard moved their hand around the area, pushing back and soaking anyone who got too close. Now the clearing was completely waterlogged, only where the caster was standing untouched by the water. Purple lightning arced around the wizard, and then they stuck their staff into the water.

You marched onwards, stepping over the groaning body of another bandit. Such foes were beneath you now. You had survived through worse things than this. Two times you have saved your old world, any foe that challenged you rarely walked away alive, and had gone on many small adventures. You even fought through the entirety of the Wizard Wars. Even now, in this new world, you still had all of your power. Hell, with the massive amounts of fighting you had to do, you might even be stronger than you realize. Of course, you still had no idea where you were, and the spell that got you sent here vaporized your robes and equipment, but you found a suitable replacement with this massive pullover hoodie, and the strange magic crystal inside the cut in half street lantern made it a decent staff. Why this stuff was laying around in a forest, you may never know.

Your special talent still works too. You know, the one where you could make separate bodies, creating up to four wizards who you controlled at the same time. That way, you never died unless all active bodies were killed. Thus, you were titled One to Four Wizards. It was a lame title, and you wished people actually remembered your real name, which was…

[] Write In Name Here.
[] You Forgot Your Own Damn Name. HOW CAN YOU FORGET YOUR NAME?

Why were you thinking about this again? Bah, whatever, you were a wizard. You had a right to be eccentric and slightly crazy. Bet the wizards of this world aren't sane either. That was besides the point though. Where the hell are you?

[] Still don't know where, but you could hear the ocean nearby. Maybe if you followed the shore, you would find civilization?
[] You could tell you were deep in the forest. Nothing but woodland creatures, and various criminals round here.
[] There was a large mountain nearby. It was absolutely covered in snow. Maybe you could spot something from up there?
[] Forget that, the bandits probably have base nearby somewhere. Where there is a bandit, there is always loot to 'reclaim'
[] Looked like there are some ruins near the clearing, bandits probably came to look it, and ran into you. Perhaps there is something of interest in there?

Ye Olde Random Abandoned Ruins

You facepalm. How the hell did you forget your own damn name? No seriously, how the hell do you do that. God, you must be stupid or something. Well, maybe not stupid, I mean, you did have to solve various problems along your adventures. Most were, 'How many [insert enemy here] can I kill with [insert element combination here] spells?', or, 'How goblins could a goblinchucker chuck if a goblinchucker could still be capable of chucking goblins?' That last one admittedly didn't come up often. But back to more important thoughts.

In front of you stood an rather impressive set of ruined buildings, hell the ground was made of the stuff as the buildings. Must have been some sort of ancient tribe of magic-wielders. Not that you cared. Backstory is for the easily distracted. Instead, you ignored the surroundings, scanning for shiny objects. It was rather late, so your lantern staff glowed brighter so you could see better. Ancient building, ancient building, recently entered ancient building, lit campfire, ancient building... Wait a second.

Turning around, you stare at the campfire in the distance, before turning to the ancient building that had its door knocked in. You could not only hear people talking from inside, but also some rather loud snoring from the campfire. Hmm.... Suspicious. You could check out what was going on inside, or check their camp for stuff. Damn, decisions. You hate tough choices. Most of your adventures had been really straightforward, going from point A to point B, killing anything in your path.

[] Go to the campfire. Lets see what we can scrounge up. Those inside might come out though. But who cares, free loot!

[] Go inside. Investigating the noise would probably be wise. It would be annoying to have to deal with foes attacking from both sides.
[] - Be sneaky about this. As sneaky as wizard can be.
OR
[] - Just waltz right in, time to greet the neighbors.

Part 2
Ninja-Looting
You give a single, silent laugh, at the this situation, and respond the only way a wizard can when given two choices. You pick the third option.

Inside the chaotic mess that is your mind, a switch is flipped. This was not a normal switch, however. Your inner mind suddenly expanded, growing larger, and separating into four chunks, each connected to a central node. Then the real magic happened. You body gave a subtle twitch, before an exact copy of you steps out of your body. A copy steps out of that copy, and the next copy steps out of that copy. Your mind dubbed the original body Red, for the stripes on its' purple hoodie were colored red now.

Then there Blue, Yellow, and Green, each having been named after the color of their stripes. Each was almost exactly identical to each other, and all four nodded at each other, exchanging shakes of the hand. Red and Blue went back to the large building to investigate inside, whilst Yellow and Green walked to the nearby campfire.

----------Yellow and Green---------

Yellow walked calmly towards the campfire from where you first spotted it. The were various tents set up around the large campfire, and the sounds of people snoring filled the area. However, the most intriguing part of the camp was a rather large tent set up near some wagons. Several weird looking horses were tied to a post near the wagons, but the post seemed rather flimsy. Green, who had snuck around the back of the camp to the top of a building, allowing them to see the whole camp. They found not a bandit, but rather a young soldier from an unknown kingdom on watch, who was circling the camp, but hadn't seen Yellow because of his position.

Yellow continued forward, taking advantage of this fully, rushing to the large tent and slipping inside, just as the soldier came into view of Yellow's position. Inside was…

The army's stockpile of weapons! Swords, axes, spears, you name a melee weapon, they had it. A map was laying on a small stool, which Yellow swiped as he walked by. Armor was sitting on racks, and in the center was a table with objects on it, covered by a blanket. Yellow moved towards it, and tossed the cloth to the side. All four wizards' eyes widened upon seeing what is under the blanket.

Four weapons, one which had stood by your side for your first adventure as well, were lying on the table. Your old trustworthy M60, the machine gun still as pristine as you last saw it, with '1 TO 4 WIZ' written on the sides. Your standard issue M16A1, which you used alongside the M60 in your tour of Vietnam. The Knife Of Counter-Striking. Didn't do a lot of damage, but if you needed to book it in a hurry, it was your knife of choice. And finally, the Meat Cleaver from your second adventure. It may look, work, and act like a chainsaw, but it really isn't. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to hold it in one hand.

Yellow immediately grabbed all four, sliding three of the weapons into the hoodie's pocket, thus putting it in your pocket space, and picked up the Knife Of Counter-Striking. Meanwhile, Green equipped the Meat Cleaver. Your four wizards are now fully equipped for combat.

Now what?

----------Red and Blue---------

Red and Blue snuck into the large building from a side entrance, which was easy considering there were no guards. Torches were lit, and placed in such a way that the wizards easily slunk around in the darkness. And by that I mean that they stood on their tiptoes and did goose steps in a poorly lit room. Truly, you are a master of stealth. According to what Yellow and Green had seen, you were up against some form of army. Red equipped the M60, while Blue pulled out the M16A1. Sliding into position on either side of the other door in the room, you listened in on the conversation going on inside the room.

"I can't believe this. Who would have thought that such an artifact would be hidden here." The first voice is male, and gruff, sounding slightly intimidating, at least it would, if you were sane.

"Indeed. Even now, we are still uncovering more of them." The second voice was female, and rather rough.

"Are you sure the seal will hold it's demon form at bay?" The first voice spoke again.

"Yes, this spell was made by one of the best the Magic Council has to offer, and has worked countless times on several of them." The second voice was sounding rather smug now. "It would take an incredible amount of outside magic to break the seal."

"Good, then we shall set out first thing tomorrow morning. I am sure to get a promotion for securing one of Zeref's artifacts." The first voice speaks once more, the two seem to getting farther away from the door, possibly going to the front entrance, which leads back to the camp. "We'll leave it here, I would rather not have that thing in the camp."

What shall you do now?

Part 3
Attempting To Not Kill Everything For Once.
Part 3

-----Yellow And Green-----

Green looked down at the camp, eyes scanning the area before giving the go-ahead to Yellow, who walked out of the armory and sat down at the campfire, trying to look as calm as possible. Inside, they were slightly nervous about this. Not because they had a chance of dying, but because they were going to actually be talking to someone, rather than just listening to them as they explained the plot of the game. Well, at least if they messed up, they would go back to the more familiar option of murdering anything and everything in sight.

-----Red-----

Red slowly reached for the doorknob, and turned it carefully, going as slow as possible to avoid making a large amount of noise, before whipping it open. Blue ran in first, M16A1 at the ready, ignoring anything that wasn't moving, before going through the opened door and into the corridor that the two people who had been talking had gone down, following the sound of their voices.

Red takes in the full room, being some sort of small study, with various books on the shelves. Shattered remains of table are in a corner, and in the center of the study is a single stone, seemingly raised out of the floor. Various magical circles float, spinning in the air lazily around a single object. A ring with a purple gem embedded in it hovered there. You could feel the lightning crackling in the air. You know what this is.

The ancient skill of enchanting was mostly used on robes, staffs, and weapons, but an order of Wizard-Smiths made a set of rings during the Wizard Wars, one for each element, and gave them to a single wizard. The Tangerine*. He wielded power like no other, his magick enhanced to the point where he no longer even combined the elements to utilize their full power, instead using each separately. You had been the one to ultimately defeat the Tangerine in combat, and that took almost everything out of you. It was the most trying experience of your wizard career at that point. If you had that kind of power… Red barely withstood the temptation to just take the ring, before feeling an anomaly in the magick ring.

Something dark was nestled inside it. The feeling of absolute hatred, of wanting to kill anything and everything in sight. It was a twisted soul, an artificial life, and it made you sick. Everything inside it was like a perversion of magick itself. It was unnatural, and it deserved to die. You would purge this sacred artifact of the heretical demon inside of it. No doubt, the other Tangerine Rings had been corrupted as well, and you would free them of their curse.

-Long Term Quest Acquired!-

What will Red do now?

-----Blue-----

Blue subtly followed the two soldiers who had been talking in the room. As Red gazed upon the ring, Blue listened in on the soldiers' conversation.

"So, for the sake of my curiousity, what was so shocking about that ring?" The tall, buff man said as he looked at the also tall, but slim woman walking next to him.

"The Magic Council has seen that type of magic before. It is a Lost Magic, known only as Elemental Soul. It was wielded by an order of wizards, who died out long ago. They could cast spells from eight different elements, and much of their work is the basis for today's spells."

"Oh, so they were that important?"

"Yes, they were a very big deal. According to the ancient records, they saved the world multiple times, but were also fairly chaotic, and caused some trouble too."

"Now you have peeked my interest, tell me more."

"Well, we don't know much, even now, but apparently one of their order was evil, and was sealed away, before attempting to escape with the aid of a demon, so they could bring about destruction. The order didn't even know about that at first, and had sent one of their own out to speak with a king about a coming war. This wizard was known as the One To Four Wizard, due to their ability to create multiple clones of themselves. We actually found some of their weapons early today. After what seemed to be a rather long and bloody campaign, involving even some time travel, the One To Four Wizard had defeated Grimnir, and went on to become a rather important person during the slow collapse of Wizard society, which was known as the Wizard Wars."

"Huh, what happened to them to cause a war between themselves?"

"Apparently they had spread out to create multiple schools, but the schools all competed against each other to the point of war, and the wizards slowly died out, before the world experienced an age of peace. Then something called the Lok Event happened. We have literally no idea what they mean by that, just that Lok was the name of a child born with the Elemental Soul, and the One To Four Wizard had re-emerged for that, despite having lived for far too long to be human."

"Oh, and what happened then?"

"Oh, a huge explosion of magic was caused by some unknown foe named Vlad, who apparently tried and failed to defeat the One To Four Wizard in some grand final battle, and used his magic to cause an apocalyptic event that destroyed their entire world as they knew it. The few survivors left had recorded the event clearly, and the records are in the Grand Magic Library. Ultimately, we have no idea what happened after that. But every single one states that while the One To Four Wizard was just a bit destructive, they were a true hero."

"Wait, but what about the ring?"

"Oh that was one of apparently eight rings, each one enhancing the power of Elemental Soul magic, and was wielded by a wizard named Tangerine. He was a major part of the Wizard Wars, and the One To Four Wizard was apparently his most hated rival. They constantly clashed, and eventually the One To Four Wizard outsmarted him, and they killed Tangerine. Zeref had heard of the rings' power, and found all eight, before putting demons inside of them."

Dear lord, that is a lot of background exposition, and they don't even know your whole story. Blue continued to follow them back to the campsite, where they encountered Yellow.

-----Yellow, Green, and Blue-----

Yellow had been standing in front of the fire, awaiting the two soldiers, who had stopped upon seeing an unknown figure standing in front of the flames. The woman twitched her hand, a ball of fire forming in it, while the male stepped forward, drawing a sword made of that blue magic crystal.

"By the order of the Rune Knights, identify yourself!" The male spoke, looking about ready to fight. Yellow turned around dramatically, before speaking in their voice, which sounded like the wind itself was speaking.

"For the sake of this conversation, you may call me Yellow. I wish to know where I am, as I am thoroughly lost. I happened to see your campfire, and decided to approach. No need for hostilities."

"Oh, that's easy, we are currently in the Northern Fiore, about 20 days travel from Oak Town which is to the south." The woman looked shocked at the male as he politely answered my question.

"Don't just answer them you idiot!" She shouted as she punched him in the back of the head.

"OW! Why not? They asked nicely!" The man shouted back at her, the two arguing.

"We have to arrest them, they might be working for a dark guild! AND THEIR REAL NAME CAN'T BE YELLOW!"

"Um, could you tell me why you are out here in the middle of nowhere?" Yellow spoke up again.

"Oh yeah sure, we are capturing a Demon of Zeref, the infamous black mage. Made tons of demons you know, and all of them are real dangerous." The man yet again answered your question. And then the woman yelled and hit him again.

"STOP TELLING HIM STUFF!"

"You guys got a map I could take?" Yellow asked finally.

"Yeah sure buddy, here ya go." The male handed you his own map.

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?" The woman tackled the man, throttling him.

You hurriedly walk off while they are fighting and meet up with Green and Blue.

Now what are you three going to do?

Part 4
The Not So Big Reveal
Part 4
-----Red-----
The magic circles around the ring continue to float in the air lazily, and Red reaches out with their right hand towards the ring. Slowly, nice and easy… Red grasped the ring and sharply pulled it out of the magic circles. There was a single second of resistance, and then the ring was sitting in the palm of Red's hand. It looked so harmless now, and luckily the monster inside it had not awoken. It seems that the seal on the ring was still active, so it was safe.

Red slipped it into their hoodie pocket, picked up their M60, and walked back the same way Blue had left the building, and casting a Haste, rushed towards the others.

-----All Four Wizards-----

The four wizards nodded at each other, before approaching the camp yet again, their movements perfectly synchronized. The two soldiers from before were still arguing.

"Why you ever think that was a good idea?"

"Well, it seems rude to just assume someone is a dark wizard just by appearance!"

"WE COULDN'T EVEN SEE THEIR FACES! WE DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THAT WIZARD WAS A BOY OR A GIRL!"

"WELL MAYBE THEY'RE INSECURE ABOUT THEIR LOOKS! Gosh, so inconsiderate Minnie."

"I'LL SHOW YOU INCONSIDERATE!" The woman yelled while once again throttling her co-worker.

Red coughed, gathering the two bickering soldiers' attention, before waving at them. Yellow spoke up.

"We couldn't help but overhear you talking about a certain 'One to Four Wizards'." The four wizards merge back together, each one jumping into yellow's body, and now you stand there, your hoodie stripes now gone, before all three re-emerge from you, forming Red, Yellow, Blue, and Green once more, before all four spoke at the same time, sounding like a genderless voice instead of just whispers on the wind.

"Ta-da!" All four lean slightly to the right, and perform the Jazz Hands. Thank god for those mandatory dance classes your mother signed you up for when you went to wizard school, or else you wouldn't know how to do this. Then all four merge back together.

Both soldiers jaws have dropped at this point. You stand there for several minutes, staring at each other, before the woman lets go of the man's neck.
"I think this is above my pay grade." The man spoke up first.

"Maybe we should report this to the Magic Council?"

"Yeah, sounds like the correct choice."

"Uh, Sir, Ma'am, Person, Could we have you come with us to the capitol? I mean, not that you have to, we aren't forcing you." Wow, and hear you thought they would outright deny your existence. However, they might not be so inclined to hear you out if they learn that the ring went missing, or that you took back your weapons. You definitely aren't giving up the ring, that is literally not an option, and the stuff was yours in the first place.

What do?

[] Stick around the soldiers and go to this, 'Magic Council', and hope to god they don't think you took the ring. Pissing off the current ruling government went badly enough the last time, you would rather avoid such an experience again.

[] Decline politely, then make a run for it once you are out of sight. If you are lucky, you can reach this Oak Town before they get back, and then go into hiding. No one knows what you truly look like, after all.

Part 5
SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED BETRAYAL!
Part 5
Agreeing to come with the soldiers, you are given an already existing tent, and informed that the group will be setting out in the morning. For some odd reason, the two soldiers are very nervous around you. Before you enter the tent, you quickly make a copy of yourself, and do not designate a color to your original body. Red nods at you, before speeding off into the forest. Then you decide to catch some sleep. As long as one body is sleeping, your other bodies are still fully rested, and Red will need the energy for the cross-country run they are going on.

-----Red-----

Running in a full out sprint with the knife of counter-striking out, and casting teleport to go around obstacles, Red dashes across the forest floor. Never feeling exhaustion, Red continues on through the night. Nothing interesting happens, and Red are now 16 days away from Oak Town by normal travel, or 4 days away by Wizard Speedrunning.

-----Original-----

It's early morning, the sun just barely peeking out over the horizon when the camp is being packed up and loaded onto wagons. Hopping onto the one of wagons, you pre-occupy yourself by questioning the woman from last night. Her name is Minnie, and she is a sealing magic wizard in the employ of the Magic Council. She had personally studied under the wizard who had made the original sealing technique used to seal away items inhabited by Zeref's demons. Apparently there was an alarm and tracking seal on the ring you had stolen, but thankfully, your body ignores such things, allowing you to snag the thing whilst completely ignoring the seals set up to stop you from doing such things. Weird.

"MINNIE! THE RING IS GONE!!!" Jake, the strange soldier working in the Rune Knights, runs out of the large building, screaming.

"WHAT DO MEAN IT'S GONE! THAT THING WAS LAYERED IN SEALS! WE WOULD HAVE HEARD SOMETHING, EVEN IF THEY DID DESTROYED THEM!" Minnie's face looks downright terrified, and everyone begins to panic.

"STOP!" Jake shouted, attracting everyone's attention. "We should at least get the fuck outta here before panicking."

Everyone immediately books it in the direction Red went, following a small road at high speeds, and for at least two hours no one seems to have figured out that you stole the ring. And then Jake, Minnie and about twenty soldiers surrounded you. You were genuinely caught off guard here. Not a lot of people managed to be this subtle about sudden betrayals back in your day, plus you had figured they would be louder about their plotting.

"Alright, hand over the ring, and no one gets hurt." Minnie points at you, looking rather smug. "There was no way you are actually a true Elemental Soul Wizard, let alone the one we were talking about. We had planned this whole thing out along to catch you off guard! Your bluff has failed, Evildoer!"

"Wait, we planned this? I thought we had just now decided that this person was the one who stole the ring." Jake looks at Minnie, confusion apparent on his face. "I mean, you even said that you totally bought that lie about being a Elemental-Person-Thingy."

"Jake, shut the hell up."

"But lying is bad Minnie, we are the good guys, we don't lie to--ARGH" Jake immediately yelps in pain as he is brutal punched in the face, landing on the ground in a crumpled heap. He raises a hand with a single finger pointed upwards. "That was also not a nice thing to do."

"I said shut up." Minnie kicks Jake, before facing you once more, her confident face reformed once more. "There is no way you can beat all of us, even with your strange clone magic. Tell us, which dark guild do you work for?"
