Fine, fine. Plan updated yet again, to offer them all a chance to join our service, though we are using Detect Thoughts and Zone of Truth to vet them all for trustworthiness.

Zone of Truth

Each potentially affected creature is allowed a save to avoid the effects when the spell is cast or when the creature first enters the emanation area. Affected creatures are aware of this enchantment.

Now See

Touch of Truthtelling

This spell functions identically to the spell zone of truth, except as noted above. The target momentarily takes on the semblance of a being of perfect order, like an archon or inevitable, so that all who can see the target know it is affected by the spell.

They still get saving throw etc. But they can't pretend, they're either under it's influence or not and you can tell visually.

Touch of Truthtelling requires a bit more individual attention but is vastly superior and at it's low level, in the future we could just get a wand of it and demand people fail the saving throw.

But Viserys has Pages of Spell Knowledge of both Detect Thoughts and Zone of Truth, and they each have a duration of 1 minute per level. So he can use each spell to interview multiple prisoners per casting. Zone of Truth is also slightly harder to resist, as a 2nd level spell versus Touch of Truthtelling, which is 1st level.

That said, Touch of Truthtelling is still pretty neat and I can see multiple scenarios where using it would be more appropriate than Zone of Truth. It just won't do us any good right now. Add it to the list of spells to purchase, so we can make a Page of Spell Knowledge from it some time in the future.

  • [X] Goldfish
[X] Plan Loot and Plunder MK II
    -[X] Prisoners
--[X] Load the prisoners on Baella and have Richard, Dany, and Waymar guard them for now. They are to treat the Fire Whale with the utmost respect.
---[X] Diplomance the prisoners (renewing Air of Nobility and Voice of the Dragon, if necessary, and using a Grand Destiny charge and Divine Insight).
----[X] They are all welcome to join our service. Those who choose to remain in our service will never need to worry about being enslaved, for such practices are outlawed in our lands, and will be paid for their time and labor, as is right and proper, but remind them that while we reward loyalty, betrayal will make them wish for a fate so kind as being converted into Living Brass. We will check the trustworthiness of those who wish to join us using Detect Thoughts and Zone of Truth.
----[X] Those who do not wish to join us, or who we find untrustworthy, will be dropped off on the nearest bit of solid shoreline, with their weapons and armor so long as it is non-magical, and any food or water they can salvage from the ships, then allowed to make their own way.
----[X] The one exception to this is the Azer who can maintain the Lightning Cannons. He will be brought to Sorcerer's Deep to teach us what he knows about them. Once that is done, he too can either be dropped off at a location of his choosing or enter our service. He will be well rewarded for his time.
    -[X] Ships
--[X] Viserys casts Ant-Haul, uses his Muleback Cords, and borrows Tyenes Boots of the Wide Earth, while using his strongest Draconic form in order to Plane Shift each ship to Sorcerer's Deep. Place them in a clear area near the keep, starting with the damaged vessel.
---[X] Before using Plane Shift, Varys combs the ships with her Mindsight to make sure nobody his hiding anywhere.
--[X] The ships will be guarded by a contingent of Legion soldiers, rotating squads of Minotaurs, and any advanced Scholarium students Teana believes are up to the task. An Iron Archer Golem will also remain on site.
--[X] The corpses on the ships will be gathered separately. Take the skulls of all mages, Efreeti and anyone who looks like an officer or mage. The bodies are to be processed by the Fungus Forge.
--[X] Before departing Sorcerer's Deep, Viserys has Lya or Vee heal his Charisma damage.
    -[X] Rest
--[X] Once everything is done and the remaining prisoners dropped off, find a random location far from any settlement or trade route, and with no signs of nearby animal activity, for Dany to Dreamcast Rope Trick to create a comfortable space for everyone to rest. In anticipation of potential retaliatory attacks, Viserys uses the magic bedroll to rapidly recover his spells, then assume his True Dragon form in order to patrol the area around the Rope Trick portal and to keep Baella company. This will also insure the Sending Stone we left with Yrten is able to reach us, otherwise their is a 5% chance it would not pass the message into the extradimensional space created by Rope Trick.
---[X] When Dany prepares her spells, rather than selecting two 4th level Hypothermia spells, she prepares just one, along with a Dismissal spell.

Zone of Truth gives no indication of whether they are actually under the effect, that's the problem.
Q&A assessment won't work, if Detect Thoughts can independently verify that Zone of Truth is effecting an individual then I guess it's alright.

Between both spells, the targets' relative mook-ness, and Viserys' extremely high spell DCs, it's a pretty good way to eliminate undesirables from among the prisoners, and it's the best we have to work with right now.

For the sake of paranoia, however, I will update the plan to include a thorough interview with Malarys and his Brain Spider spell once the prisoners are transported to SD.

A massive Sense Motive score, paired with a massive save DC, will help quite a bit.

Not like our realm is powerless in the face of these dudes.

I don't really care about how the ships are operated or maintained. It is extremely unlikely the ships are functional anywhere but the Plane of Fire, and we have better methods of bulk material transport. I just want to harvest them of every useful bit of material they are constructed from.
The idea is not to use the ships, but to understand how they are designed and how they operate. This allows us to look for exploitable weaknesses and to learn something for our own engineering projects.

I definitely want the Bulabar to pour over one of these vessels. At the absolute minimum, these ships give us insight into how to operate a vessel without sails or oars.

@Duesal Want to work with me later to audit the front page for anything missing since last turn? Magic items seem to be the main culprit. The "Subjects" section is missing a thing or two, too, I'm sure.

Big part that's always a mess unless you go in and completely format the sheet are a PC's items equipped. I helped out a little there earlier.

@Azel The only thing in Business Assets that hasn't been updated are the three new (technically two plus one replacement) ships for SSE, and a numbers and percentage update for ACSEC on freight moved.

Next turn we should open up a few more ACSEC offices. Tolos and maybe a port upgrade for Mantarys' coastal force along with an office. Since that sort of helps out our local raiders in one move, giving them better facilities. Call it part of our military alliance on paper, an advance on infrastructure otherwise.

I also think we should open one up in Lorath, since we already have a close working relationship with Braavos and they have the closest thing to an ongoing alliance with their neighbor.

We could also, if we're feeling frisky, open one up in Omber, and initiate talks to get an office in the Port of Ibben.

That's three expansions easily, maybe as many as five or six if we add one in maybe the Summer Islands. We could handle the first three on our own and have Menel arrange the other three?

@Crake, I'm somewhat ahead of you. We will open ACSEC branches in Tolos and Mantarys this month.

Doing a northern expansion sounds good though. Send Menel to do it.

I'm also thinking about installing braziers in Runestone, Sunspear and Driftmark for our most loyal supporters in Westeros. Also one for Salladhor, since he is operating pretty far away from Imperial infrastructure now.

@Azel

So next turn (or at some point in the middle of this one, unless we have him busy with something this turn?) have Menel arrange properties in Lorath, Omber and Ibben, and we'll have Braziers ready by the end of that turn. Gotcha.

Edit:

I'll also add Saath to that list.

I'd found an interesting quote of GRRM's.

In an old interview that GRRM did on HBO, he says that "There's actually quite a lot of Westeros north of the Wall. It's a large expanse of land, probably as large as Canada".

Yeah, Canada. Just how massive an army have the Others been amassing these past eight thousand years?

Oh, and found a neat attempt at stretching the boundaries of the map of the known world from The Lands of Ice and Fire some more, offers a neat glimpse as to how much further the Land of Always Winter might extend.

Damn, thats a lot of free real state.
But lets keep in mind that the lands of always winter (LoaW?) should be near the pole, so the extra landmass could be (and likely is) significantly closer to the Thousand isles/Grey wastes than depicted here.

I'd be happy for the help. I was already doing that, but I never fail to end up missing something.

So i found this
Now, i get the feeling that planetos is much larger than the planet depicted in the image, and it seems GRRM said the North is not connected to Essos, but, keep in mind that Planetos likely doesnt have permanent ice caps, and a land bridge might form during the long night connecting the continents, as sea levels descend and the seas freeze.

I'm personally no fan of the idea that Sothoryos and Ulthos are connected. The Valyrians would have known if that was the case.

You see that Bay over there in the section of Ulthos where the map isn't cut off from the canon one?

I want to build a colony there in the future.

@das_slash, I think the Land of Always Winter starts as soon as you hit the bits even wildlings don't want to poke much. As for the Grey Waste(and Yi Ti's version of the Wall to boot), it's feasible there's some kind of link there.

I'm personally no fan of the idea that Sothoryos and Ulthos are connected. The Valyrians would have known if that was the case.

To be fair, it looks more like an Egypt type deal, as in there still exists a separation of sorts between Sothoryos and Ulthos like there is between Africa and Asia.

Egypt is definitely part of Africa. I think you mean the Arabian Peninsula.

@Duesal, @Crake, @Azel, could you also help DP out with numbers of people in our cities?
Main page is horrendously out of date on that.

Also, Oatkeeper and Purity seem to be outdated in descriptions as well.

Yesh... They are really out of date.

Saltcliff should be at roughly 1,550 people.
SD at an even 27,000.
Mosshold I would guess 1,000.
Everfire Dale 2,000.
Deepcleft 3,500.
Port Sorrow 925.
Westhaven 22,500. (Of which 14,400 are Legionaires and recruits.)

Edit:
Tyrosh has been bleeding population and is down to 561,860 these days.
The Disputed Lands are stable at 4.2 Million.
@egoo, @DragonParadox, here my rough estimate of the current population again.
