[X] Plan Being Disgustingly Helpful
-[X] "It is indeed a worrying thought that such artifacts could fall into the hands of creatures that had beleaguered this city. Yet while I trust the Fiery Hand to drive away the weaker servants of the pit, I must say that their leaders could have easily slipped past even the best soldiers to steal such treasures unhindered."
-[X] "You have a good point and given the extensive activities in the catacombs below, it would be wise to bring them to safer places. Would we know each other better, I would offer to store them in my vaults for you, though I think the Iron Bank would be a good intermediate, given our very recent acquaintance. After all, they have a reputation to deal fairly, no matter with whom."
-[X] "I will gladly aid you in accounting for all these artifacts and aiding with the transport and since they need to be handled anyway, this would be a good opportunity to reassess some of these objects. The waxing of magic has empowered many an old treasure and some might no longer be safe to store at all and should rather be disposed off."
-[X] "It is such a shame that my coffers will be strained with rebuilding the areas affected the worst by the fighting. Had I enough coin to immediately rebuild this area, it would be easy to assess the catacombs and do some work on the temples vaults, so that a small contingent of Fiery Hand could adequately protect these things and the temple itself."
-[X] Note: Cutting down the Fiery Hand to maybe 60 people, which is enough for three shifts of 20 ceremonial guards.

So far, he tried to play us for a fool and then blatantly tried to bribe us with trinkets to preserve his own power.
Time to teach him that we played this game with people far more skilled and dangerous then him.

TL;DR:
Viserys: "I accept your offer of wealth in the spirit it was given." :V
Red Priest: "That was not the spirit..."
Viserys: "Red Dragon. :V You can tell my restraint from how I'm not currently lounging on my newest money. :V"

The temple is rather large, and 60 is smaller than a magister's guard (which is probably around ~100, either of unsullied, or non-unsullied but aiming for at least similar numbers to not look poor). I'd aim for 200 as the target reduction.

Speaking of which, a moment of appreciation for the Legion.

Fully indoctrinated and highly trained soldiers, all of whom are equipped in Masterwork Fullplate and with Masterwork weapons (to the point where every legionnaire's gear costs around 1000 IM), and in their maiden battle they shattered the Unsullied who were once famed for feeling no fear, and they went toe to toe with Daemons and won.

The Legion is easily one of my favorite things about the quest. We built it from scratch. We got trainers from New Ghis to steal ideas from the Legions of the Ghiscari Empire. We established ties with the Plane of Earth and established a trade deal for iron in bulk. We built a magical furnace to process all that iron into masterwork steel nonstop. We indoctrinated our subjects and got them to fight in our army.

This has all been great.

For the next set of rumors I expect to hear several things:

1. Viserys Targaryen isn't just a Dragonlord, he's a Dragon.
2. Viserys Targaryen has taken Tyrosh in a single day.
3. Apparently Tyrosh was overrun with fiends.
4. The Legion is the best fighting force in the world, they broke Unsullied and slaughtered daemons.
Thee cheers for the jagerkin Legion!

Though, the fact that we took a free city by surprise assault, is going to seriously worry anyone. The icing on the cake is by flipping the Second Sons, the knee-jerk reaction to hire more sellswords stops looking appealing. Of course, this means the very first thing we need to do next month is the diplomacy to the nearby free cities to keep them from asking for protection from Volantis, or making devil pacts or whatnot. We're a happy Viserys who can now turn his eyes Westward, and will totally lose control of any Essosi holdings just like all Westerosi in the past eventually. Yup. No need to panic.
I loved that we successfully pulled it all off, though I'll admit I was slightly irritated that the our demiplane's shadow was broken. One day, one day we will get it fixed! It's incredibly frustrating that we have dragonstone in reach -- Fungus Forge, Archon's Palace in Tyrosh -- but we can't use either source since those are currently in use, so the next best thing is outright going to Valyrian ruins.

Note: Cutting down the Fiery Hand to maybe 60 people, which is enough for three shifts of 20 ceremonial guards.
Woah! I'd expect the more well off Brothels to have more guards at any one time. Remember man most of these guards will probably be temple acolytes.

Think Shaolin temples...except with more fir...more bloo...more demon go.... Actually yeah think kungfu temple cults. Their troops are probably more often than not their congregation.

Adjusted to 120. I'm not really willing to go any higher then that, since the temple is not exactly a huge area and 40 people per shift are plenty to keep it safe.

Ooh, now that the city is conquered -- loot! :D

1. Use one of Yss' commune questions to see if there are any Valyrian Dragon eggs hidden in Tyrosh (possible)
2. Seize what Valyrian Steel that we can
3. Using knowledge of which magisters were in league with the cultists, seize the manses and all the wealth inside
4. Scour the catacombs and take sacrifices and daemonic loot (Azel's dagger especially)
5. Negotiate with Amrelath and buy the daemonic loot he's collected so we can sacrifice it
6. Poke at the Drunken God's fountain and see if anything tries to kill us. If so, we have our excuse to sunder it and grow a Heart Tree on top.
7. Poke at the Temple of Trios and see if it has connections to the daemon cults.
8. Set aside some daemon corpses as trophies.
9. Set aside the skulls of major cultists to be added to the collection (the head cultist in Azel's omake, the "elders" who dwelled in the catacombs, the cultist champion who fought alongside the Thanadaemons).
10. Find whatever libraries you can in the city, take them.

How about a mamimum of 150 for the major one and 30 per medium sized shrine? Depending one their ability to house that many people themselves? Like a little streetside shrine with one priest and an acolite would not be entitled to any except maybe a pair of gate guards who would follow the priest doing maintenance on them?

Reduces it from a centralized military force to a dispersed temple guard. While still allowing them to have enough to ostensibly guard all their congregations.

I can see some rumors of the stupid kind springing up from mixing these two facts...

There'll be some, but I doubt we'll force most magisters to hand over their treasuries?

6. Poke at the Drunken God's fountain and see if anything tries to kill us. If so, we have our excuse to sunder it and grow a Heart Tree on top.
I now imagine a dragon poking a regular fountain, saying "Come on, do something". That's your fault.
10. Find whatever libraries you can in the city, take them.
Again, no looting our new subjects without specific reason, as with the VS.

We can confiscate them from the worst offenders as their fines, but for the rest I'd honestly just settle for an open volentary VS buyback program and another open bounty in our Imperial Libraries for new books for our Dragonpens to copy. With the option that people can bring their books just to be copied for the bounty without having to sell it.

We control the city now and need to break the back of future rebellions. Money is a key driver in that. The dragon demands his hoard of gold!

The problem with the Fiery Hands is, when are they actually called upon?

There were hundreds of demons feasting on the city and they did nothing, nada. Children were being changed into cattle, their parents probably went to pray at the Red Temple. No reaction.

Would they go out during an invasion? Not from Volantis. Not from Westeros. Maybe they would help vs. the Dothraki because they would torch their temple.

What does it leave? An armored group used to pressure the ruling members of the city to push their religious agenda, easily swayed/bribed against us if another of the three cities invade because I truly doubt they like us.

Cut them down to size, leave a honorary guard and tell them to fuck off with their bribes.

I think we should start lower and eventually allow up to 120 Fiery Hand as a concession.

We also need to make sure that the reduced Fiery Hand don't simply melt away into the populace, ready to be called to service with the proper signal.

We should probably hold a grand speech at the earliest opportunity. I think we've gotten burned enough times to learn that if we keep silent and don't tell people what actually happened, somebody else will either steal the credit spin the narrative to our disadvantage.

If the Archon's daugher is anything to go by, I think we can assume that the inner city did not hear a single peep about daemons or fiends. So we should make haste to clarify that before merchants or other wealthy people leave the city and spread their own false impressions.

Here's an idea. Sailors travel all around, and they love to gossip. We should abuse that. Let's order some brief inspections for leaving and arriving ships, invasive enough to be annoying but not enough to cause real frustration or anger. When questions unquestionably arise as to why these sudden inspections, we have our men parrot our narrative, about how there were fiendish cults thriving in the city before we came to eradicate them, and how we're now making sure that there are no cultists or demonic artifacts entering or leaving the city. If we can keep the Archons for a week or two, we should send a representative of them along for these inspections. Nothing makes a demon hunt more legitimate than having some angels on your side.

Edit: Make sure to insert as many "In the name of Viserys Targaryen" as possible when giving out explanations. Wouldn't want for people to believe that Viserys is playing second fiddle to the Archons.

While I would prefer to absorb them into the Legion and Lawmen to know about their whereabouts, I have not any high hopes that we can prevent that from occurring, though I think there are enough other Burny fanatics around that it won't matter much.

I'm not too worried about the number because of what we are and what our Legions can do, but I get the thread's reservations. I think 120 is too few. Really not invested with this vote so I'm skipping it.

Those that really want to stay Firey Hand could go to a temple in another city.

Seeing a few hundred leave would make things obvious.

I mean, we kinda told them not to.

@Azel can you add a comment about how our homeland has a law about a church's army. The one started by our ancestor Margot the Great.
