Turns and Travels

First Day of the Fourth Month 294 AC

After some thought, you decide Tyene has a point about the Starks. You have been putting off the meeting since your tense encounter with the Lord of Winterfell at the Wall, but it had to be done, and if you can order the papers to write about Aerys the Mad King, you can deal with some of his legacy face to face. Being honest with yourself, Lord Stark is not the one you are most wary of meeting. Perhaps the years have brought some peace or wisdom to Lyanna Stark, if not... well, you will deal with that bridge when you come to it. At least with Robert dead at the Lannisters' hands, not to mention the manner of it, you can present a common enemy to Eddard.

Before you can set out, however, you look into other news of those meddling with powers of the Far North. The wounded fey lord of the Indigo. Alas, there are no clear answers to be found and no easy paths into the depths of the Feywild. It is no accident that you find upon your desk the most strangely composed report of your entire life courtesy of Glyra. It appears to be entirely written in limericks, the last of which is:

So let me seek the bloody mask,
High and low, deep and far,
I knew you would never ask
I'll look beyond the farthest star

Thankfully, before you can decide if you should congratulate or scold her for somehow breaking into your solar and sneaking the page in the middle of a sober Inquisition report, you come upon a more promising discovery. Hearing of the danger of the shards of Summer falling to the cold beyond Winter, the Lord of the Wild Hunt has vowed to search for the Mask and those who yet serve it. Given that those of the indigo oft share their souls with beasts and other shapechangers, you suspect at least part of the offer is motivated by a desire to recruit some of them to his service, but you certainly aren't going to object to the help simply because it is self-interested.

By contrast, finding glamor-weavers who do not wish to be found in the depths of the Feywild, even ones who have just lost their monarch, is likely to prove harrowing upon treacherous paths, though here too you receive unexpected aid. Renly Storm, gone from Sorcerer's Deep for almost three months, found his way back to the material realm in the wake of the upheavals of the Breaking of the Summer Court with news of where the most likely paths of flight are.

The young man seems different somehow from when last you saw him, though you cannot put a finger on any one feature transformed. Perhaps there is an inner light to his features that was not there before, or perhaps the blue of his eyes shines brighter, or his manner is more poised. He has not found the answers he sought, still less the true Renly Baratheon, but he seems convinced that the Court of Illusion holds the key. You do not have the heart to tell him that you might have destroyed those answers in one bloody ritual. Rather than merely bidding him good hunting, you ask him to record the tale of his journey and bide a while here that he might set off in stronger company.

Renly Storm Gains 2 Levels (Cavalier); Lamora Gains 2 Levels (Arcane Savant); Venny Gains 4 Levels (Rogue); Cryl Converts all Warrior levels to Fighter

Someday you might even have the time to read those tales. You shake off the weariness before it can take hold and continue on into the evening. In less ethereal news, Astral Currents has seen the expected increase in profits from the Terminus in Vialesk, allowing the trade of three spheres to now mingle and flourish in Sorcerer's Deep. When the spirits of air, earth, and water name the world under the sun the Garden, it speaks to more than ancient myth and tale now, it speaks of what it is becoming.

Astral Currents grows by 31% (Regular Growth + Vialesk Branch)

Looking out of your window into the realm soon to grow, you consider where to best assign your assets in the days to come, for there is always more work to be done.

[] Write in plan

OOC: As I was writing this, I remembered Renly and company and rolled for them for the past two months (since I had not done so since the second of the month). You guys got lucky with more assets to throw at fey problems. On the other hand, you did not get lucky in actually finding the Violet Court before the start of the month, so it kind of balances out. Not yet edited.
Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

Hearing of the danger of the shards of summer falling to the cold beyond Winter the Lord of the Wild Hunt has vowed to search for the Mask and those who yet serve it.
And just like that the already ridiculous force grows even weirder.

@DragonParadox, what are the Renly-crew levels now, then?
I don't have their original sheets noted anywhere, and neither are they in goldfish's post (since never technically as close Vassals as Misfits and away adventuring, I guess)

[X] Kingsmoot in the Iron Isles: On your orders, Roderick the Reader has called for a Kingsmoot to select the next Lord Paramount of the Iron Isles, just in time for them to swear fealty. Send your candidate for the position and some helpers to ensure that they are chosen.
--[X] Asha, Theon, Argo, Vrath the Serpentfolk Hexblade, Dirizz the Faerie Dragon, Diana the Sea Sprite, the Windwards
We need to have some kind of contingency if Euron Greyjoy shows up.

I call the sort of contingency "fuck it, nuke the place".
We'll likely not have anyone capable available to go and kick his arse, everyone being in Feywild and shit.

I'm open to suggestions.

Uhhh, panic, I guess. It's the kind of impulsive, stupid decision that should immediately result in Asha and Theon's deaths, we're not exactly leaving a lot of assets available for a direct confrontation with him and his crew of top tier, artifact encrusted murderbeasts.

My whole problem is Euron shouldn't know that, but our info-sec is like a sieve so fuck it.

  1. Renly is Cavalier 11
  2. Lamora is a Shadow Creature Vela Sorceress 6/ Arcane Savant 2
  3. Veny is a Erinat Gremlin Rogue 5
  4. Cyril is a Frost Giant Fighter 5

Kingsmoot is the big enough kind of thing that'd be really easy to Divine even off-plane, and for all he's a psychotic retard, wouldn't he at least try to keep tabs on his "home", if only to know when to best swoop in to take control of it, or something?

But, yeh, whatever.
I'm writing off the Isles from the get go if he appears there this month. We have other priorities, thanks to the Fey.

Night, all.
Will add Renly's party and any additions ya have tomorrow. Just tag me.

@Goldfish Here's hoping Theon and Asha are wearing charms of "lol dimensional anchor? Nope" amulet + a teleport charm. Which, you know, might not work if they're rocking a Celerity. Let's hope they BOTH have a teleport charm, can hardly repeatedly break out Celerity, right?!

I'm going to get around to putting the rest of those sheets up soon. In the next few days if I can help it. Not gonna have much else to do sitting here in my hotel room.

why would Euron show up tho? i thought he was enjoying his pirate paradise.
Euron spent all of canon just doing stuff to dunk on people and show that he was awesome and everyone else are just toys to be played with.

The fact that the toys are familiar in Westeros is even better than the ones he can find in Elysium, nor can many of them really do anything to stop him... he's basically a magic demigod these days, like the Companions.

Euron fancies himself as the Bloodstone Emperor come again. The King in the Long Night. He is the kind of man who's hyperfocused on building his legend even before magic returned to the world and made it grant power through mythic ranks. A Kingsmoot that he can barge into and proceed to take over is very tempting to him. He was never going to be content with anything. There's always a new horizon.

But yeah, if he shows up we need to give Asha and Theon very strict orders to run away immediately. They don't stand a chance in hell.

Yep. Basically, everyone, even Viserys and the Companions, are just stepping stones to his inevitable control of everything his single eye can see.

It's not about power to Euron, or even control.

It's about taking both from other people, and finding new ways to maximize cruelty as an art. He's a solipsistic nightmare who doesn't recognize the personal experiences of others or outside perspectives.

They should all have Teleport Charms for that sort of assignment. We can also lend them some of the 1/Day Evacuation Rune Charms we have in the Armory. We also have some slotless Rings of Counterspelling we can lend them that can be programmed to automatically Counterspell a Dimensional Anchor spell.
