[X] Azel

Just to make sure that I'm reading this right: @Azel, you intend to have the narrative be that the Imperium isn't institutionally faithful to the Red God, but that we will fight alongside his spirits to destroy those who would prey on men? Because if so, maybe don't say "holy war" in the first line. Insist upon the righteousness of the cause and the worth of allying with Gods, but maybe don't explicitly call it holy?

And I would suggest explicitly saying that this is the one who went after the Volantenes, and that we're punishing the guilty/avenging the victims/joining the fight to beat her back. Being able to put a name and a face on the people being avenged/protected is good. And because saying we want to beat her back and avenge a single specific wrong is very good, because if she's defeated but not permakilled this lets us spin things as a perfect win anyway (rather than promising to destroy her, etc).

I'd suggest something like this:
[ ] Plan Hyper-Blasphemy
-[ ] Give a speech from the bridge of the Dauntless, transmitted to the Mirror Vision network and all vessels on the PoF, being buffed beyond all reason and then some more, throwing around Mythic power as necessary.
-[ ] Proclaim this holy war a righteous one, for it goes against a false, evil goddess seeking to ensnare the minds of and souls of upstanding Imperial citizens and to see the world bathed in flame and madness to sate her own greed and desire for cruelty. She is the one who struck Volantis with a burning plague, murdering innocent people and releasing evil spirits who plagued the city's defenders.
-[ ] Thus, it can only be just for the Imperium to join the effort and to render aid in this goal, for the greatest promise, no, the greatest duty of the Imperium is to protect and guide its citizens, and to fight those who seek to harm them, mind, body and soul.
-[ ] This is why you passed laws in regards to religions. This is why you endorsed the gods who uphold their promises and protect those who pledge themselves to them, and why you fight the false gods, the demons and the pit who seek to devour all that is good and righteous. It is not chicanery, but direst necessity.
-[ ] The realm must stand as one to not fall prey to these creatures that seek only to exploit and abuse. And together, the citizens of the realm united, fighting sight by side with the righteous, will see her armies slain and her victims avenged. For slaying the Red God's faithful, she must face his angels. And as she preyed upon our people, Imperial armies join this strike.

Okay, that last sentence is super ugly, but I hope you get the gist of it.

Point taken. I originally wanted to use the term "crusade" and then pivoted to "holy war" without thinking through the nuances. Also going to make it explicit what we blame Ymeri for. One moment.

Here's the social bonuses to use while approaching Crimson Lotus; Air of Nobility, Blood Wished Focused Scrutiny, Voice of the Dragon, and Wild Arcana'd Greater Heroism modified by the Encouraging Spell Metamagic (learned via Ancestral Awakening). This will add a constant +30 bonus to Viserys' base +48 Diplomacy bonus.

He should also have Divine Insight, Blood Wished Honeyed Tongue, and Moment of Greatness active. Divine Insight and Moment of Greatness can be discharged simultaneously to provide an additional +20 when needed. With Honeyed Tongue, Viserys gets to make all of his Diplomacy rolls twice, taking the higher of the two.

He can use his Orb of Mental Renewal before going into the meeting to heal his Charisma damage from using Blood Wish here.

During the meeting, he should be prepared to Blood Wish Surge of Fortune and Peacemaker's Parley spells. Neither of these spells can be cast too far ahead of time, but Viserys can use them surreptitiously without being noticed; all of his spells are Silent now and he can Still two spells per day using his Bracers. Crimson Lotus won't be able to discern the spells being cast.

All told, he can go into the meeting with a +78 Diplomacy bonus, increase that to +80 with Peacemaker's Parley, and +82 with Surge of Fortune. Using Blood Wish twice will decrease Viserys' Charisma bonus by one point, lowering the overall Diplomacy bonus to +81, a net gain of +3 points. Discharging Surge of Fortune (for an effective Nat 20), Divine Insight (+15), and Moment of Greatness (+5) will increase that to +119. And then add a +1d6 Mythic Surge bonus as a finisher.

+119+1d6 seems likely to have an effect.

PS: You can substitue Sirine's Grace in place of Peacemaker's Parley if you don't mind reducing his maximum Diplomacy bonus by -2 points, reducing the Diplomacy bonus to 117+1d6 in favor of getting a +8 bonus to Perform(Oratory).
@Goldfish, how relevant this one buff-line-up still is?
Any significant number-changes in it by now?

I get a feeling DP won't have our full bullshit-ability memorized well enough for this occasion :V

Edits done. Also added a spot of praise to the Inquisition (to counteract bad press over recent measures) and to other faiths (to make it clear that we are not endorsing Burny as the sole god of the Imperium).

The latter should help a lot to strangle the hardliners of the red faith. It's pretty hard to argue that he sees all other gods as demons when we preach unity while aiding his divine army.

Divine Insight can now be replaced with a Wild Arcana'd Moment of Prescience. That increases the overall bonus by +7, up to 127+1d6 since Viserys has leveled and his base Diplomacy bonus is now +49.

That or make them utterly desperate as they lose all traction with the commons. This will make it hard-to-borderline impossible if Ymeri actually dies with our involvement apparent, to get much traction with the population, at least in Volantis, and if Benerro spins it the right way, and if we can get some interviews with R'hllor's servants, probably impossible in general anywhere in the Imperium.

We already see the case that our strongest personal supporters are actually in the cities where we haven't conquered yet (which makes sense, we actually acted to end slavery whereas the other Temples didn't for centuries).

@Crake I've been thinking about Elyria (and looking at the sheets) and I think 6000 levies and 500 Man At arms equivalent soldiers make sense. the place is an island. they would not really be focusing their defense on the armies.

@Azel, relevant just to fuck with whatever sky-high ceiling DP will set for your speech to crit here.

[] Prepare for making the speech with Air of Nobility, Voice of the Dragon, and Wild Arcana'd Greater Heroism modified by the Encouraging Spell Metamagic (learned via Ancestral Awakening).
(Base +49 Diplomacy +20)
-[] Have Divine Insight, Blood Wished Honeyed Tongue, and Wild Arcana'ed Moment of Prescience active.
(Before casting Moment of Prescience, have Lya fully buff Viserys with Harmonic Chorus, giving +3 further to Moment of Prescience's effect).
Moment of Prescience and Moment of Greatness can be discharged simultaneously to provide an additional +30 when needed.
(Base +49 Diplomacy +20 constant Bonus, one-off discharge +30. All Diplomacy rolls made twice taking higher of the two)
--[] Use Orb of Mental Renewal before going into the meeting to heal the Charisma damage from using Blood Wish.
-[] During the speech, be prepared to Blood Wish Surge of Fortune (+2 Diplomacy, Nat 20 on one roll)

-[] Base of the speech with a +69 Diplomacy bonus, increased to +71 with Surge of Fortune. Using Blood Wish twice will decrease Viserys' Charisma bonus by one point, lowering the overall Diplomacy bonus to +70, a net gain of +3 points. Discharging Surge of Fortune (for an effective Nat 20), Moment of Prescience (+25), and Moment of Greatness (+5) will increase that to +120. And then add a +1d6 Mythic Surge bonus as a finisher.

[] Base speech +69 Diplomacy before rolling, rolling twice and taking better for any roll,
-[] The 'most important' part of the speech +120+1d6 Diplomacy.

This is downright silly but the occasion seems to merit some.

Removed forced scrutiny, we aren't diplomancing one person here like back with Crimson Lotus.
It is back to 'only' +116 +1d6 top and +68 base.

Viserys' base Diplomacy bonus is +49 now, so it should max out at 127 + 1d6 now. You missed the edit I made to my previous post.
