CW: Very 90s.

Also, this is going to be a seriously fucked up quest. I'm going to be doing my damndest to channel an appropriately edgy, teen-rage vibe. Expect violence, drugs, sex, etc.

There's also going to be some Pretty Uncomfortable Dysphoria-ing, trans readers be warned.

I did not know that. Okay, then I don't even know anymore.

[X] I have no idea what to do.

And I didn't know that either!

It feels like literally everyone else involved in this Quest has the rulebook open. It's a little annoying, NGL.
I'm just reading the informational posts bud.

Anyway, the big choice here seems to be whether to try and fight our way free as the operator instructed us (leaving these jabronis to clean up their own mess and abandoning the exit), or help them battle the unknown number of cops.

H-okay, deep breath, new strategy, new vote.

[X]Pull out a baton and greet our guests, spending our three 4s (in Flexible) to knock them down and clog up that entrance, keeping anybody else from getting in soon.

You know, if Coda pulls out a pair of handguns and empties them, she'll get one partial hit and get an Advance, then also get a Charge which she can use to reroll her dice pool and fish for better dice.

[X] Pull out two handguns and light the cops up.

"So anyways, I started blasting..."

I guess I misread this? Please don't call me bud, though.

" 6s are Full Successes, 4-5s are partial Successes, and everything else is misses. In Fight.exe, every Hit or Partial Hit does 1 Harm: it only takes 1 Harm to take a bluepill (or bot) out. Every partial hit or miss inflicts 1 Harm on you: you can take 2 Harm with no consequences, then you get knocked down or out for every hit you take past 3 Harm (though you can keep getting up!) At 6, you're dead, and if you die in the roleplaying game, you die in real life."

My mind just translated this as "every partial hit by an enemy or miss by you."

Mmmmmmeh. As cool as "so I stahted blasting" is, not only does it waste a bunch of perfectly good dice for...basically no effect, it also opens us up to them shooting back.

EDIT:
Jesus christ, I saw this when it was only the first line. Guess memes really are the DNA of the soul

Yeah, I feel like I was completely right to oppose MJ12's previous plan--which even in text was noted to be either genius or dumb and the answer seems clear now--and this is just a continuation of that.

We're not the gun person.

Let's use what we're actually good at, I guess?

Taking a flexible stance will allow us to avoid harm on partials.
So it is, and a good point. Though all we can do is knock people down. I'm not sure how long a knock down lasts, presumably even a bluepill can get back up if we don't Harm them proper... but maybe this lets us refresh?
Please let this give us a refresh. Changing my vote, mostly because fleeing has proved roundly unpopular

It's an interesting point. I think there's a case to be made for fishing for that Charge+Advance by also using the 6 in the melee strategy, but I don't think it's worth blowing on mediocre gunplay here

[X] Do as Chrysalis said and book it. (Run away using a 4)

If Chrysalis says to run, we should probably do that and not get bogged down in a fight with a buncha folks who could quite easily turn into agents and then we're turbofucked.

I think there's a lot of good mechanical options at this point, and the vote is more about how Coda handles situations and will tend to operate in the Matrix. Is she the kind of person who will shoot the bluepill cops with no hesitation? It's a war after all, but not one they've really chosen to take part in.

If we're fighting defensively, we have all that Gear, pulling out a baton seems like a waste right now when you don't need the extra Harm. A riot shield seems like a better thing to do than a baton, or just not using any gear right now at all.

-[X] Then, book it with that 'six.' You've done your part, time to go.

Once we've clogged up the entrance, we've bought the other guys time. Hopefully they actually use it rather than trying to fight to the death here. And we should use it as well.

[X] Draw out a knife, and put those fours to use with a combination of palm strikes, fluid shifting around and stabbing and slashing.
-[x] "I dressed like this because I hate being in this fucking meatsuit the fuckin' machine put me in, you absolute cuntwaffle, personally, I can't wait until I can have my amazing fuckin tits out in a PVC sundress with a tiny tophat. Right now tho, we got cops to kill and I have a body to ignore. Cool?"

Appending Laurent's suggestion to my vote. Fits my desire to burn our pool for a reroll/advance, run away, and stay somewhat safe. Buying the other redpills time is also good

Yeah, I feel like I was completely right to oppose MJ12's previous plan--which even in text was noted to be either genius or dumb and the answer seems clear now--and this is just a continuation of that.

My plan was simply to bring more gear into the situation because it meant more options, and provide a way to avoid attracting too much attention based upon having that gear. As the gear post has demonstrated, 3 gear is not very much at all, which would greatly limit options.

This permits Coda to have a melee weapon and shield, or a melee weapon and body armor, or whatever miscellaneous gear might be useful later in the course of the run, whereas 3 gear would prevent bringing a shield, make body armor take up the entirety of your gear budget, and now if you pull out a knife or a sword you're suddenly eating a good chunk of your gear rating and limiting your options even further.

We also have a mission where we shouldn't be using much Gear at all, and a character that has a Cool -1, meaning that we need a 5 or higher to actually have most of our heavier gear be useful.

Now, a riot shield could still be useful for us and that's more than the '3 gear' but most of the options we have are just... not ones that fit our current build.

It felt like overkill, and combining it with, "Pretending to be a cop" was obviously a mistake.

Coda was acting as security. In that case, there are two situations:
1. Everything goes largely right and you need absolutely nothing;
2. Things start going wrong and you need a ton of shit.

Also, based on *World, a possible advance is just "+1 to a stat" and you can only take this advance once per stat, so if having -1 Cool is a problem we can buy that off. There's probably other advances that can be taken to mitigate being bad at a thing too.

And you know, riot shields and body armor are generically useful things that go into a gear budget. 6 Gear is a +2 Harm sword and a shield, or a knife and armor and still 2 more gear in case there's something really useful that you need right now like, IDK, a pry bar or a breaking and entering kit or whatever.
